As THOUSANDS of other moms of deceased children can confirm - we were asked to pay an extra amount to keep our children's memory's alive through Memory-of.com and within a year the websites disappeared without prior to notice.
I wouldn't have minded if I'd had a prior notice so I could take the 15 YEARS of nearly DAILY writings and uploads and had the chance to make a copy of them to download elsewhere all the information (I'm talking a books worth of script.) then to upload onto a different platform so at least I could have kept his memory alive. Those of us (especially parents) who have moved from the place of our child's death, would have had the opportunity to continue our dialogue and communication with those who knew our child best.
Do you have any idea how difficult it is to try to start a conversation with your child's friends 15 YEARS after their death? When you had a way of continuing to communicate with them and your child's friends had a way stay in touch (minus the awkwardness) all the while they had the wonderful opportunity to GROW UP, (we were able to live vicariously through them) and suddenly that is ripped out of your hands — it leaves a grieving parent with even MORE devastation to deal with.
Losing this communication is like experiencing another death - an ongoing grief of emptiness, as if your child has DIED ALL OVER AGAIN.
