mozy backup
I had an on-line chat with one of your support team (Steven J) on Friday 28/9/18 starting at 12.35 as my Mozy Back Up won't work (i.e. it starts then stops). I followed Steven's instructions but he couldn't resolve the problem. He asked for the logs, which I sent him. He then said it would take a while to analyse them and would email the results to me; so we ended the chat. I've not heard from him since and my copy of Mozy isn't backing up my data, leaving me vulnerable. Please can someone e sort this out. My case number is [protected].
mozy pro
These crooks charged my credit card to renew my contract for 2 years in june 2015 at $1400.in january, just 6 months later, I moved my business's files to the cloud and called to cancel. They will not issue a refund of any sort. I have tried multiple times. That's almost $1000 down the tubes or rather down to their bottom line. I can understand proration with penalty but not, sorry, your money's ours now and there's nothing anyone can do about it.
I just came across a similar situation. I switched companies and am no longer using mozy. I paid for the year. I called up to be refunded and they said no. It is april 18th. My renewal date was January 6th. Because I missed the 90 day window by 12 days they are keeping my money for the entire year.
extortion
Mozy got its clients to sign up to an unlimited online back-up.
I signed up and backed up 450 gb of data. The deal was $4.95 per month
It took me 3 months to finished my back-up. Today I received an email from mozy
Saying that may deal is canceled, and my back-up will be metered at $50 per month.
This a scam, a breach of contract. They should be sued. I am ready for a class action.
I have told Mozy (live chat) that I will not pay x10 my monthly fee.
If they delete my files I will sue. I am talking to a lawyer for a class action.
I will keep you guys posted
First, I want to be clear that I don't believe this was a breach of contract. I had a year long contract, and they are letting that go until the end of the contract at the $4.95 per month pricing. If you were month-to-month...then at the end of the month, they have fulfilled the contract unfortunately, and can raise the price.
But PLEASE don't think that I'm defending Mozy! I find their actions absolutely pathetic, and think that all of us consumers should band together and cancel their service, and show them what happens when they try to mess with people like they are doing...
I've been a customer for years, backing up about 270GB of data or so. I've stuck with Mozy through all the problems and ErrorCodes, not knowing if my data was safe or not, running tests and sending them log files, etc. Horrible support throughout, but I was patient enough to allow them to finally fix everything to the point where it works perfectly...and now this!
It is absolutely criminal after all the time it took (especially with MOZY's consistent problems) to upload my data, that I have to start from scratch. I hesitated to stick with Mozy many times, but I figured since it was an UNLIMITED plan, that I only had to suffer through it once, and then I'd simply pay them $55ish per year for the next few decades.
I'm thinking that Mozy simply thought that all of the larger users who would have these insane price increases would decide that it wasn't worth the time and effort to move their data to a new backup solution. Nice try with the handcuffs, Mozy, but not me.
By the way, I understand a changing market (and in fact have been in storage since a big disk array was 4x2GB F/W/D SCSI drives that cost $40, 000). I probably wouldn't have blinked an eye if you came to me with an unlimited plan that was even double the cost, but this kind of price increase is just ridiculous and an insult to your loyal users who stuck with you through all your problems.
I have referred my Father and his two computers, 4 different friends, and 3 relatives on to Mozy. Never asked for anything in return (even knowing I could have become an affiliate...I didn't want to do that, I just wanted to be a nice guy and send people to "the best"), and of course never got any acknowledgment. Now, the "thank you" is to be treated like this by Mozy.
How much additional profit did they gain from those nine different computers (in addition to the 2 that I have, the second of which was paying for a different plan and only backing up 80GB), and does that cover the cost of my "increased" storage, considering how insanely cheap storage/management/infrastructure is these days?
Now, in addition to yanking all 11 of these computers away from Mozy, I'll do the proverbial "...an unhappy customer tells 10 people..." thing, and make sure that nobody I know gives Mozy their business in the future.
Oh sure, Mozy will still get plenty of business from the smaller clients who have smaller needs and who think the pricing is good...but clearly I'm not alone in running for the hills to get away from Mozy at this point.
I tried to call to talk to somebody and give them feedback, and there is no phone number for MozyHome - only MozyPro. I replied to the initial email announcement, copying live addresses at Mozy, and of course never got a response. I then filed a support ticket to ask how I could speak with somebody, and the response was "there isn't any way to talk to anybody on the phone, but here is how to cancel your account...have a nice day."
Horrible, uncaring customer service. Simply unbelievable - I guess they feel they are Google and it doesn't matter how they treat people.
After working with one of the worst companies in the Business world (EMC) for quite some time, I guess I was fooling myself to think that Mozy wouldn't pull something like this.
Unbelievable.

billing scam
Watch your checkbook with mozy backup!
I tried mozy backup for a few months in 2009. I thought they sucked. The server was always offline, the backup process failed continually and the customer service had lame excuses for all the problems. I canceled my account and recieved a refund. I went with carbonite and I have lived happily backed up ever since.
Now it's the beginning of 2010 and mozy has just billed my canceled account and taken $108.90 from my checking account. I contacted mozy with no reply yet. I probably will get this money back but what if I somehow missed this charge to my account? Mozy would just keep the $108.00 on a canceled account.
My advice. Run screaming away from mozy backup, never turn your back on them and watch your wallet!
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
Doesn't backup data. Many changes are missed. They apparently have server problems, but they didn't bother to tell anybody. I lost important data. I was paying for nothing.
1. company asks/beggs you to sign up for a no cost or commitment trial backup service
2. company they charge your card $100 ($498.8 up yto this date in my case, and i never used it after trying 1 time
3. finally they in fine words threaten to publish you backed up files, if you dont pay
note company's C/O address, Mozy is fake straight through
They are a scam ...You cannot remove your credit card from your account and they will take a month to refund or cancel your account
Stay far away from them.
Hi,
I work for Mozy and I'd like to help.
When you sign up for a free Mozy account, we don't take any credit card details so, if you have been billed by us, it sounds like you may have accidentally signed up to one of our paid services. MozyHome Free is commitment-free, cost-free, requires no payment details and is offered indefinitely.
I'd also like to set your mind at rest by confirming that we NEVER publish files under any circumstances. Not only is that totally in opposition to the terms and conditions that we agree with you, it also contravenes our privacy policy. Furthermore, due to the personal-key encryption we offer, we're not capable of un-encrypting your files. It's something we would not, and could not, ever do.
Could I ask you to contact me directly so that I can resolve your issue for you? If you can send an email to media@mozy.com, I'll take a look at your account for you.
Tony
Mozy cost me $200 and didn't have my data the one time I needed it - when my external hard drive failed. Because it failed, they stopped keep the ext hard drive data. What kind of service is that? They also have no customer support on the phone and only lame excuses via Chat. There is no one at the end of the phone. Do they even have a real company or is it just a facade to scam people? I cancelled my account, but i'll be surprised if they really stop billing me. We'll see. I'm going to a time machine since the only backup I can trust is myself.
Please disregard that last comment. Belongs on another thread. (Technical problems with my login.)
I second bobbymak. I also got a call from EOCCA for someone else -- not an enemy, just an acquaintance. Your problem is with EOCCA. They illegally contact people they know to be connected in any way whatsoever with someone they are harassing for a collection. It is not Mr. Ward's doing.
ADrive.com is better
No place to contact them to ask either.
I agree. Mozy used to be reputable. Not now though.
