I am very frustrated with the inconsistency of the Netspend and the representatives. Very too often, I would do a over the phone money transfer to another account and I run into the same problem every time. Sometimes I can give Rep the Flash ID of receiver and I sometimes I can't, Sometimes they will tell me they will need receiver's account number (which I don't have) . It's kind of too inconsistent with a every different rep asks for different info that is required to authorize transfer. Why are all reps not asking for the same info every call? Why is it always something different? Every time I ask to speak someone above them, they'll put me on and hang up on me within a few minutes without speaking to a leader.
Also I was not able to get a transfer process because I exceeded the amount of transfers for a week (10) as the Rep told me. Why isn't this stated in app or anywhere else. Stuff like this we should be informed. I had to make an emergency transfer to my wife because she was stranded and come to find out I couldn't get her transfer authorized. I didn't even exceed $2, 500 for the week. Hell I didn't even exceed $500 for the week.

I had unathorized use on my netspend card and when i called netspend they told me all the unathorized transactions dat were made on my card they told me to file a dispute and tgey told me my dispute was denied and i told them to invistigate were the transactions were made so they could check there cameras it wasnt me that made all those transactions how can they not ask someone for amd identification when making a purchase in stores i told them to invistingate it because it wasnt me that made those purchase but they told me no your dispute was denied not only did dey denied my dispute but they denied me of any services i can not use the services eathier there so unfair they didnt even care to help me out or even invistigsted anything they just denied me for everything

I called Netspend because I received an email about an address change on my account I then found out My account was closed by Risk Management with no explanation stating too many disputes. So I asked about the disputes.I advised Netspend my last dispute was in May 2019 they stated there was a dispute filed on June 10 and 27. When I advised that I have not been able to access my online account since June 3rd they stated my account is already closed and there is nothing they can do but send refund check. I have an Autistic son and his SSI was just deposited into the account and due to this error I am unable to purchase his medicine which can cause him to go into a traumatic episode. Netspend has taken away the only funds I have and are making me wait 10 business for an issue I did not cause. I requested them to review my account to see every time I make a legimate dispute l, I call the moment it happens or as soon as the charge posts to my account. The disputes reported on June 10th and 27th were charges from Feb and March. I have already told Netspend I did not create those disputes and I did verify those charges are indeed mine and I raised the question why would I wait so long and I have never waited to report a dispute and how was my address changed without my authorization. No answers only the same robotic response they will send refund check. We cannot wait for my son's medicine and if anything happens to him because of this Netspend error I am going to explore all avenues of legal actions to take this company down. I have already contacted the Better Business Bureau and my company paid attorney to discuss the steps that need to be taken.

Not sure how it got locked. But just today, I tried logging into online banking and it says account locked. All of my money is in there and now do not have money for gas to get to work! My account was locked for fraud when I tried to transfer my balance to another NetSpend card. I have now sent everything required plus more being told then my account would be unlocked. However, every time I call I get a different answer. I'm now homeless and close to losing my car and now they day they won't lift the block they'll issue me a check in 7-10 days...I was told that three weeks ago also but still no check. I'm getting the run around. I did nothing wrong, can't get a strange answer and desperately need that money.

On 4/23 I loaded $300. When I went to spend it online, all my charges were declined.
I called and Harry said it went to fraud dept but they wouldn't tell me what was going on or what the charges were. I told him to just close the account if I cannot spend my own money. Harry closed the account and told me it would take 7-15 business before I received my refund check.
On 5/17 I called back and spoke to Angela. She said the check was processed on 4/29 to give it 48 more hours.
On 5/23 I spoke with Layna, she said check was mailed 4/29. A specialist would call me by May 28th. No call and still no check.
On 6/3 Toni said they cancelled the first check and were issuing another #890848
I told her I wanted to speak to a manager. SHe left me on hold & eventually the system kicked me out.
I called back and DEMANDED to speak to a manager. I got Melanie who said she was a supervisor. She told me somebody would call by 3PM to issue a check TODAY. No call AGAIN.
I called back again on 6/4 Luis, another supervisor, said he was waiting on a computer update about my mystery check they allegedly sent. A specialist would call within one or two hours.
I am writing this on 6/10, six weeks after the initial fiasco began and still no check.
I will follow up this complaint with as many complaints and agencies I can find today. This has been a nightmare experience met with foreigners and incompetence answering the phones and repeating the script like good little slaves.
The desired resolution is the return of MY MONEY into MY ACCOUNT. NOW!
UPDATE: The moral of the story is to document your calls and any written communication with the company as you will need it to fight them. Make sure you take action by filing a complaint with CFPB BEFORE THE 60 DAYS EXPIRES.
They are attempting to wait out the clock and KEEP YOUR MONEY.
The same day I filed with the government I FINALLY got some action from NETSPEND CORP.
The check has now cleared. Technically, they call this resolved. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THESE VULTURES.
UPDATE: I finally did get a corporate response yesterday after filing multiple complaints. This morning the corporation was able to publicly respond but my response had to be sent PRIVATELY directly to the company. Here is my response: "Yes your records came to life once complaints with the government and other agencies were filed. Why do you PREDATORY companies think you get all the PROTECTION? Why must I submit a PRIVATE message in response to you. I'm not the one who started this. You pissed me off and laughed for 6 weeks while I dealt with your band of foreign [censored]s who delivered ZERO assistance to resolve my case. Last night, out of the blue, coincidently following these complaints and revealing the fact that I was forced to reveal my SS# several times to foreigners, I receive a phone call of some scammer saying my SS# was being suspended. I'm sure there is no connection and pure coinky dinky." The pure hell we must endure for us as the victim of these predators is unfathomable. The corporation DID finally contact me yesterday and tried for 15 minutes to convince me that they would do me the great favor of getting the risk dept to reinstate my account and now I could spend my own money. I said "you have to be kidding me, after all this [censored] run around you think I am going to do business with you!" The second option was again w/o them lifting a damn finger could electronically send money to a money gram location where I could do all the work of retrieving it. The final option which I pushed and they resisted was to send the hard copy check. I asked for and even offered to take the funds from my account to expedite shipping. She declined this offer. The person handling my account will contact me today to update any movement.

I have had A BILLING ERROR with penn credit and ehave tried everything in my power to fix it to no resolution so I contacted Netspend and filed 2 claims one for $390 and another for $213. I've been waiting almost 2 months on the 1st and 15 days on the 2nd. According to customer service they wont issue me a provisional credit while they "investigate" my claims ( they've not done anything) because of regulations E that says they dont issue provisional credits for non billing issues. The 2 problems with this ridiculous excuse are first nowhere under refunds and provisional credits does it say only for billing errors we classify ourselves as acceptable billing errors and second IT IS A BILLING ERROR, THE COMPANY MADE A "BILLING ERROR " WHEN THEY CHARGED ME AN ADDITIONAL CHARGES! THEY ERRORED! I PUT ALL my pay on this card to pay Bill's, I need my money back for payments I didn't make! I'm out almost $800 and cant wait any longer to fix these billing errors!

To who it may concern, this morning I received a text alert that $1000 was taken off my Netspend card . The incident happened with in minutes at the 711 store on may 23, 2019. The store in question is on second st in El Cajon ca. This morning my husband and I call your customer service department. we were given the following numbers, 51, 45, 618 also 53, 56, 0794. The amounts taken were $303, $303, $303. I do know for a fact that these transitions were not done by me . My Husband and I need the money returned immediately. There has been no warning and no reason and my account is locked. There is no way for me to access the money that I have worked hard for so that I can do what I need. I will be transfering to a bank as soon as possible. I will not use this longer this company. I have bills to pay and I need to go to the doctor and I dont have insurance and dont have any way other than this card to pay for it.

On 04MAY19 I purchased a NetSpend Paypal Prepaid Mastercard at a local retailer for $2.95 in order to make some ebay purchases. My initial load was $300.00. Upon getting home and attempting to activate the card for use, the account was immediately locked with no information or even a reason as to why. I attempted to call the Toll-Free number provided, and after spending more time typing in the card number the automated system stated the offices were closed and nobody could be contacted. RED FLAG NUMBER 1.
The next morning on 05MAY19, I called the company and this time spoke to an (obviously overseas) rep who told me I had to furnish them with a copy of my Social Security Card, Driver's License, and a Piece of Mail. RED FLAG NUMBER TWO. Fearing I would never see my money again unless I complied, I emailed my information, and received an email a couple hours later indicating my card was now active. After seeing the THOUSANDS of negative reviews and the multiple lawsuits, as well as a US Government Investigation and Action AGAINST this company, I decided it was probably best to spend the $300 I loaded onto it as fast as possible. I have since put an Identity Theft Lock on my credit report, and have had to notify my banks and credit card companies to put an alert on the accounts from possible unusual activity.
On May 5th I Made first ebay purchase of $212.49.
Immediately after, on May 5th I made a second ebay purchase of $79.98.
On May 6th I made a 3rd ebay purchase $2.54.
Immediately after, on May 6th I attempted to make a 4th ebay purchase of $2.81, and the card was declined.
On May 7th I attempted the same 4th ebay purchase again of $2.81, and the card was again declined.
The 3 approved ebay purchases total $295.01, and with a $300.00 initial load on the card should leaving a balance of $4.99 that should be available, but cannot be used for an unknown reason. At this point, I feel the company has done to my account what they seem to be famous for: Locking out the account, or making the funds unavailable for no known reason and without any notice.
I'm amazed that the BBB gives this company an "A" rating, considering the company has had US Government Action taken against it, and (at the time of this complaint) there has been 600 complaints on the BBB website in the last 12 months alone. The company in question (NetSpend) isn't even BBB accredited. Customer reviews on the BBB site itself are 1.2 out of 5 stars at best, with scathing reviews and multiple lawsuits won against the company all over the internet.

I moved to my new address from 187 Myrtle Ave, Somerset, NJ 08873 on February 26, 2019. I was changing my address information on my Netspend account on March 23, 2019 when my account was locked. My paycheck had been deposited that week and the amount in the account was $ 1, 345.00.
My Netspend account number was [protected], expiration 4/21.
I contacted Netspend via telephone and was told my account was frozen and I had to provide proof of my identity via documents. I informed Netspend that I had moved and after submitting document over the next week Netspend confirmed that I was Alan Stowers. With my net paycheck pending deposite and Netspend not reactiving my account I stopped the payrole direct deposites and moved to another bank.
On April 1, 2019 I was told by Juan at Customer Service that my refund would be mail on April 2, 2019 and that it would take 10 business days for me to receive it. I still have not received my refund check. This loss of income has been compiled by my car having trouble. I have fallen behind in my bills and I am facing eviction from my apartment.
I called Netspend customer service to tell them that I still have not received my refund on April 22, 2019 and spoke to Stefanie who stated my refund was sent on April 2, 2019, check # 878348 and that I should wait another week before requesting a stop payment on the check.
I asked if Netspend could send my refund overnight with return receipt requested for me to sign for the document and she said no! She stated I would have to wait another 3 weeks for the check. It's been 5 weeks since Netspend closed my account.
I have found the customer service department to be unhelpful and uncaring with assisting me to resolve my issue of getting my money. I did nothing wrong and had no issue for my Netspend account for 2 years. Can someone help me get my money back before I get evicted.

Finally, on April 1, I was told by CSR Juan that Netspend would refund my money in the form of a check that the check would go out tomorrow on April 2, 2019 by UPS. It is now April 21, 2019 and I still have not received my money. My last call to Netspend I spoke to Lania who confirmed that I would received the money by April 16, 2019. Lania also went on to state that if I have not received the check after 15 days that Netspend would stop payment and investigate to see if the check has been cashed. After their investigation they may reissue another check. On April 22, 2019 I called Netspend and spoke with Stephanie who stated the check has been sent and that I have to wait 10 more business days to receive it and that they can not preform a stop payment on a sent check for 30 days after it is issued.
I find it very disappointing that Netspend has not been able to refund my deposited paycheck. Due to their uncooperativeness I had to change banks and they will not consider sending my money via electronic direct deposite to my new bank. I don't understand how a On Line Business can not return my money the same way they received. How can I expedite this situation that may lead to my eviction from my current apartment? Please help...

We are having problems getting our money back well. They closed a subaccount that had money in it and I can't get them to move the money into the main account. I have been trying since April and I get different answers every time I call in. They claim that the subaccount holder has to verify his identity. On a closed subaccount, why? that doesn't even make sense. Did you ever get your money back?

You should file a complaint with the New Jersey Department of Banking and Insurance. They may have a limited inpact on the Netspend but it may get their attention to resolve their refund practices.
