Just an all around terrible company
I’ve had a Pokémon go account for 5 years and for any avid player that knows the work and time and money put into this game, you know how ridiculously devastating it can be to lose everything! Over that time I have easily spent $1500.00 or more! My Facebook was hacked a week ago and everything was deleted. I contacted Niantic to see if they could help. They sent a list of things they needed and I provided them the best that I could. After that, they sent another email saying they needed MORE, I told them that the stuff they are asking for can’t possibly be found (who takes screenshots of their in app purchases?) I provided them with my player ID, purchase receipts I made from my credit card, the date I started playing, etc. They then preceded to send me an email saying that I have “punishments” on my account and they won’t restore it! I’ve never had any issues aside from their glitches in the game! When I asked them exactly what those “punishments” were, they presented to say “like I mentioned before, you have previous punishments and bans on your account in the past and we won’t restore it” I’m a 35 year old mother of 2 toddlers who works 3 jobs! I didn’t do anything wrong in or outside of the game! I lost so many memories, so much money! My babies first Pokémon! (Sounds stupid, but he was so little when he comprehended how to catch one!) I am extremely disappointed in this company and their crappy customer service towards a very expensive hobby!

Zekrom, one of the Pokemon featured in Pokemon GO Fest 2021, looks like a nighthawk of the infamous and notorious Ku Klux Klan. And his eyes, oh boy! They resemble the German flag from WWII, which is highly inappropriate considering the atrocities committed during that period. Furthermore, Reshiram, another Pokemon featured in this event, showcases a burning cross. This is an outright, bold statement that resembles the same symbol abhorrently associated with the KKK for generations.
Despite the uproar this caused, Niantic did not make any significant moves to address the issue. This behavior is undoubtedly questionable to me, and I must say that it disappoints me. As a consumer, I do not want to support corporations who lack empathy, morality, and disregard cultural sensitivity.
Therefore, I urge people to stay away from Niantic products and boycott the company as well. If we do not take a stand against businesses that promote such intolerant ideologies, then we are being complicit and contributing to the problem as well. It's up to us as consumers to hold companies accountable for their actions.
Review: Ingress vs. PoGo - A Free Mobile Game Showdown
I've been playing Ingress for years, and I've tried PoGo a bit too. Gotta say I love playing, especially Ingress. It's made me get up and move my butt instead of being a couch potato all day.
Both games are free to play, and to be honest you don't need to spend a penny to play. Sometimes I do dish out some cash just to support the game since it's free and all.
I'll give Ingress a 5-star rating, and PoGo I'll give it 3-stars (mostly because some of the players are jerks).
I mean, come on, you can't expect the world for free! But these games are definitely worth giving a shot.

But here's the kicker, if you try to contact Niantic support about these characters, they don't even respond to you! Talk about poor customer service. I ended up deleting Pokemon Go thanks to them.

Me and ma buds used to be all up in Niantic's games. Like, we were big fans. But lemme tell ya, everything went down the gutter real quick. Secondly, the battle league requires a lot of screen tapping, which can be difficult for those with disabilities like arthritis. To be successful in the league, double-tapping is required, and this can be hard on arthritic hands.
Thirdly, participating in the battle league means sitting around for long periods. Players have to research the best Pokemon to use and level them up before they can battle. With inevitable losses, this means a lot of sitting around.
Lastly, this requirement goes against the original intent of Pokemon Go, which was to get people out of the house and moving. Requiring players to sit and battle other players goes against this original intent.
No other Pokemon game requires players to battle non-NPC players. Participation in these battles should be optional for those who enjoy it, not mandatory. Niantic needs to modify or waive the Level 44 requirement for participation in the Battle Leagues, and make this feature optional in the future.

I have mixed feelings about Niantic. On one hand, I have been playing since 2016 and this game used to have several free features. All you had to do was suck up a little extra grinding to get it. It was really fun and addictive. But on the other hand, Niantic has clearly rendered every item in their store in-game shop useless. I don't know what they're thinking by doing this. Every item has been overpriced and it's hard to progress in the game without paying real money.
I remember why I got out of it for 10 months in 2018. Every time I get back into it and go hard core, Niantic finds ways to burn and screw over players and I remember why I stopped. They clearly don't care about remote players. In areas with zero grid, forget about playing. I originally had to drive 1.5 hours to a grid and half the time the game would be glitchy as heck. It's really frustrating.
Raids have gone from unlimited per day to 3 remote and 2 in-person daily. Remote raid passes started out as one penny and increased to their most expensive item in their shop, 525 coins. This killed most of the game for players. The game is more than just catching Pokémon, and they know that. They keep mucking with the spawn time and range it anywhere from 30 minutes to 90 minutes.
I appreciate that they added Go+ devices which open up a whole new door for playing POGO. Although the devices are frustrating as heck to operate when they act up, and there's absolutely zero customer service with the companies you buy them from and Niantic. However, every time I have to replace them I find 2:5 work correctly. Their shelf life ranges from less than a month to 1-2 years if you're lucky and careful about it. Instead of adding in a patch to allow great and ultra balls on older devices, they're forcing players to buy a new device that allows this feature. That's all about money and Niantic knows that.
The Adventure Sync feature isn't perfect and doesn't always work. My job is very active now, and I have noticed it doesn't always sync correctly and tally steps correctly. This makes me wonder about their algorithm and honoring correctness. God, I hope Niantic doesn't decide to put a step limit on their game as I can easily average 60k at work. A couple of years ago, I was physically disabled, and this helped me continue to play. I hope they never patch this exploit.
Although, I have noticed significantly fewer spawns from stops and gyms compared to years gone by. I am noticing 1-3 spawns per stop instead of 5-7 in years gone by. Parks that have a 30+ grid have very few spawns. On community days, parks are full by 2 pm, and I have to show up 1 hour early if I want a parking spot, which is really inconvenient for me. Parks were not busy when community days were held at 10 a.m., and I could participate a couple of hours before work and then just let the Go+ auto collect until the end of the event.
Most players have no clue how to correctly nominate stops, and the reviewing process can either be very quick or super slow. Some stops go through in a timely manner of less than 6 months, while I have some in my list that have been waiting for 2+ years. Niantic releases dates for future events too close to the event itself. Recently I have decided to stop participating in sudden release events because some events start and stop so suddenly I can't participate in them.
In conclusion, Niantic has made some good changes to the game, such as the addition of Go+ devices, but they have made many bad decisions as well. Niantic needs to consider raising the XP rewards to higher amounts for their raids. 4-star should be 10K, 5-star should be 15K and slowly increasing with the raid difficulty. It's time for Niantic to listen to their players and make some much-needed changes to the game.

Support people do not play the game and don't understand many of the tricks of playing. Like for Community Day, you spin a disk the previous day, get a free pass then don't use it. Next day, you spend the free pass on raid #1, spin next raid disk, get that day's new free raid pass then raid#2.
They cheated me of 2 premium passes and won't return
