New gas service
I filled out a start service application on October 20 to get gas service for my business. I then called two days later to check status and was told that I needed to fill out a credit application. I did that on. On October 23 I called Nicor. I spoke to a Customer Service Rep named Betty who told me that my account was all set up and that someone would be out between 12 and 4 on October 30 to connect the gas. On October 26 I received an email from the Contract Department stating that they required more information which included my tax I d number. I provided that on October 27. I asked my Office Assistant to contact Nicor on October 30 which was supposed to be the dated the gas would be turned on. My Assistant was told that the appointment had been canceled because the proper paperwork was not received. I AGAIN submitted a NEW credit app and also re-sent my tax ID info. I called Nicor again and was told that I would have to wait at least 5 days for an appointment. It is not my fault that YOUR employee set up service for me without going through the proper channels and I feel that my Contract should be placed at the front of the line because of YOUR error. My employee has been sitting in an office for over a week below 50degrees and that is not fair to her because your employee went through the improper channels.
damaged yard
On 10/24/18 and 10/25/18 Nicor dug up my sidewalk to put in a gas line for a neighbor across the street. The neighborhood was subdivided over a year ago so i'm sure why gas line was not installed to begin with. During this process Nicor dug up and trampled/ damages my front lawn... the lawn my husband spent thousands putting sod in, overseeding, watering all summer and fall (our first water bill after moving in to our new construction home was over $500 because of new sod). No one from Nicor ever bothered to contact us, knock on our door while being in front of our house trampling all over our property for 2 days. I have everything on video as we have cameras on every corner of the house.
Nicor Gas is replacing moving meters from basements to outside of properties and the project is ongoing. They have shown no regards for the curb appeal of my property.
I plant a small flower garden on the side of my each spring and I wanted to know where my meter would be relocated. I live in a townhome community I spoke with a Nicor worker while they were working onsite, I was told that my unit and the 2 end units meters would all be placed on the brick side of my unit. I asked 3 meters would be placed in area is so small. I emailed Mr. Eckstein and he had 2 workers come to my house and they told me all 3 meters would be on the end of the court where these is plenty of room and the meters would not be an eyesore. That made sense.
Then there more digging on my property I am told that my one meter would have to be placed have to be placed outside my unit after all. I was not happy but I can live with that. BUT! I came home after a vacation around memorial day to a yard that was dug up perennials and tossed aside and a pole against my porch. I email Eckstein, he sends his guy to talk with me and I'm told that it had to be that way because of the upstairs unit next door connect be connected. which doesnt make since to me. So there will be 3 meters along side my porch visible from the walkway, what an eyesore. Why would Nicor do that to my community?
To add insult to injury, I see meters placed along the back of buildings throughout the area that do not detract from the curb appeal. I feel like Nicor doesnt care and is doing what is easiest and maybe to save money. But this is at my expense. They have devalued my property and byers are likely to choose units that are more attractive.
What do I want? I want Nicor to find a way to place the meter(s) where they are not the first thing you see when you walk up to my townhouse. Buyers are turned off by that. I look forward to a solution

I recently purchased my first home in McHenry, IL. There is a 2nd home in my town with the same address as mine so I had issues setting up my account. I had my gas meter moved from my basement to outside last month. The issues with my address were to be taken care of last month. I came home from work yesterday and had no hear. I had someone come out to look at the furnace and they couldn't find anything wrong. I discovered no gas this morning when I tried to make breakfast for my son. I called Nicor and they told me that gas was shut off because nobody has lived in my house since April. I bought the house in September. They were out here last month, a whole crew. They are now saying it can't be turned on until tomorrow. Is there anything that can be done to get them out here today?
fraud department not responding
I sent a fraud affidavit form to PO
Box 2020 Aurora, IL 60507 and have not received anything on what to do. This is effecting me and my credit. I did not authorize this use of my info to anyone. Who do I contact to get help? The affidavit form said 4 weeks for a response and I have heard nothing.

I Sonja Jeneen Pritchett was given the deed to that home myself and all 8 of my children had been residing there for over a year until I fell ill& had to stay with my son Slone Woffords associate's until I was up & about. I went back to the house on [protected] to find that it was broken into by a Nekiesia Wilkins. She broke into the side window and then replaced the back door locks with her own. She's now squatting into the unit. Even though Dolton police ticketed the front screen door as CLOSED. Why is she even there? Do not cut on any utilities until you recieve notice from me stating to do so. She even has a code on the gas application. She is illegal, & We haven't given her permission to stay. My children wants her out.

The woman by the name of Sonja broke in stolen things out of the property. I'm in the process of evicting her out with the authorities.

To whom it may concern, several months have pass I notice my bills sky high, so I decide to look into it, when I call nocorgas they inform me that I was switch to a different provider, I was not aware or remember talking to anyone about changing services. My regular bills were $20.00 per month, then I notice a change like what is going on, on 3/6/17 my bill was $62.17 on 3/22/17 another bill of $132.96, then on 5/22/17 a bill for $141.60.that's when I decided to see what was going on. I was inform the switch. I was not aware they just switch me without my approvAL and I am disputing these charges and requestING refund from all three dates

nicor service
Nicor was called to the address by the fire department when I notified them of a suspicious smell. Nicor arrived and locked out my gas meter with a red tab and said I needed to contact a plumber to find the leak. Nicor claims to have found a leak and suspected an additional leak somewhere else. The next day I called a plumber and had them come out to my property. They could not find any leak in the gas lines. Nicor was called back out by the plumber, Nicor could not find any leak with the plumber present. The fire department cleared the house as safe and the gas has been fine. I paid a plumber $300 because Nicor shut off my gas for no reason.
my meter
I called about a month ago said we heard a loud noise (hissing and smelled gas) some came out I guess I was not home. I was told some one would be out to replace a valve because the technician did not have what he needed. So the were to come on Monday the 27 th of march but did not come out then it was rescheduled for Friday April 7 I received a message that that type of work is not done on Friday s only Monday s. SO a technician was to be here yesterday Monday April 10 we'll guess what No one came.
I m really upset that we pay our bill to your company but no one can seem to get out to our house to fix what needs to be done.

Public safety procedures
Nicor by-passed all public safety procedures when repairing a Class 1 gas leak on my property last week on Tueday December 27th, 2016. According to their own safety procedures,
(See Section 6 - Accidental Release Measures from the attachment), Nicor should have "As an immediate precautionary measure, isolate area for at
least 100 meters (330 feet) in all directions. " and to "Keep unauthorized personnel away". The repair site was never isolated. Anyone could walk right up to the gas leak and touch it.
There was no notification on the door prior to the shut off which I understand is legally required. And even though Nicor determined that 10% of the ground at the foundation of my home was filled with natural gas from this leak, no one from Nicor notified or explained any safety precautions to me. None of my neighbors were notified of the Class 1 gas leak and the odor from it spread for over two blocks. When I heard drilling outside my home, I went and spoke to the field technician. He told me that Nicor didn't have to notify me of any Class 1 leak. Nicor dismissed my informal complaint [#[protected]] as they felt that they have followed all of their procedures and regulations properly.
Disconnect from main
We have been waiting for a gas disconnect from the main at for at least 6 weeks. The fee has been paid at the time the call was placed. My customer and I have repeatedly called for an update and it seems to be humorous to thier blatantly unprofessional staff that the process is taking so long. We are unable to even get an update as to when the inspection will take place before JULIE is called. This is disgusting to me, if we were to treat our customers this way we would be out of business.
As of now Nicor has been holding up $300, 000. We cannot even start the project with out the gas line being disconnected from the main.
No gas for 29 days
Nicor Gas is the worst company ever ever ever. Isn't there another gas company out there somewhere that we could use? I moved into a rental on November 14th and there was no gas meter attached to the house. Apparently they took all the equipment also. I called them on November 14th to set up new service however I couldn't because there was no gas meter or gas line to the house. Sonoco has been giving me the runaround for 29 days and I still do not have a meter or a gas line to my house it is freezing cold I live in Fox Lake Illinois and I don't know what to do next. Nicor did however tell me if I did drop my complaint with the Better Business Bureau that this would move along a lot quicker. So what's that telling you? I live in Fox Lake Illinois it is supposed to get down to single-digits and I have no heat no heat for me and my two girls little girls. I would really really really appreciate it if somebody can help me out here tell me who to call tell me who to complain to. God bless and I hope you all are warm.
Billing and meter reading
SO IN TWO MOUTHS I RACKED UP A BILL OF 1, 000 WITH NICOR it wasnt even winter yet. Only my son and i, but between them estimateing my bill, the intrest, misulaess charges, and there outrages on going deposit they throw in every mouth it built up. I HAVE NO JOB AT THIS TIME, -becouse there is no day care thats under 200 hundred a week so it got to be two mouths of no payment of course even after shuting me off they keep finding reason to charge me so now i owe 1, 100. They will not give me payment arrangement want full amount, and iam now faceing being homeless! Li-hip will not help me becouse i am shut off already. ALSO i would have went to lihip sooner but they only help or let you sighn up 2 mouths out of the years . Most off the time it take up to 30- 60 day be4 nicor gas even add payment to your account, that dont help.I dont know what to do I have no one. HOUSING WILL NOT HELP ME BECOUSE CANT GET NICOR ON IN MY NAME -let alone pay the deposit for housing, comed etc.. with the economy and nicor being the only company they would not be so money hurger munoply with no heart
Bills
When I moved into a new place...I called to get my service set up. They informed me I had a bill from 9 years ago totaling over $1700. How in the world does one get to that amount with out it being shut off? Every time I call I only get excuses and not one person will sit down and look at it. The only response I get is that it was an oversight. How the Heck is $1700 an oversight. So today I go into the payment center on Ferry Rd. and attempt to make a payment. First, the lady wants to charge me $3.50 on a closed account to make a payment then she tells me the gift cards I have wouldn't work. Now your company is refusing my money and I still have no gas. With it being November all I want to do is be able to take a hot shower and be able to cook on my stove like a normal person and have heat. I do not know how this company can treat people so poorly refuse to let me set up a payment plan while I try to go back and find every payment I ever made. I have never been treated so poorly and now they are refusing payment. There needs something to be done about this company. If there was another choice here in IL I'm sure a lot of people would have switched.
Repairs not received
Nicor needed to cut a hole in my drive way to replace gas lines. I was told it would be repaired in 1 1/2 to 2 weeks. Today 11/2/2015 I was told it would be repaired within 45 days weather permitting. I was asking for a date and time for the repairs. Again I was told 45 days weather permitting. The rocks and dirt are sinking. If it snows I will not be able to clean the snow off the driveway. All of which creates possible liability issue. As the homeowner I am contacting as many people as possible and writing complaints where I can just to protect myself. I live in Palos Heights.

NICOR is one of the worst gas companies I have ever had to deal with! Where to start!? I paid my gas bill in full on Tuesday and they shut me off 2 days later for "nonpayment". When I called to get a clear understanding of their stupidity, I was spoken in a condescending manner and found Kelly, Scott AND Stephanie to be the rudest and coldest individuals I have ever spoken to. I am still not sure how you have payment but still shut my gas off and then treat me horribly THEN tell me I have to schedule an appt to turn it back on in FIVE days! 5 days. I have kids. Its going to be 40 degrees tonight, I cant cook, bake, wash or dry clothes, take a hot shower or even a warm one, and we dont have heat! I explained this all to them and all I got was "sorry we dont have to legally turn it back on for 5 days!" I hope NICOR goes out of business. Karma people karma.

75% increase in billing from last month, don't use lot of gas in summer months...what gives..is the meter reader screwing up!

nicor over charges customers. one month they charge the monthly bill. the next month they will charge the same. nicor turns off
customers gas off because they make a mistake. and customers are paying for there mistakes. my home is run by electric and for the winter it is run by gas. for the furnace. so how can i be charge the same for the winter and summer, don't you think thats odd. i only use the furnace for the winter. i do have the proof that my home is run on electric. please help. thank you leonel

Fraudulent Billing
Called to have a disconnect & final reading on the gas meter on the closing date of a home we were selling. I was given an appt time of 8am -noon on the closing day that the meter would be read. Received final bill in the mail & the meter was read a week after the closing date. Called to have bill adjusted and they claimed they had no record of the appt. I explained that I had set it up & received an appt time & they refused to adjust my bill. I should not be held liable to pay for a weeks worth of gas service on a home we no longer owned, due to Nicor's employee incompetence.
Nicor Gas is billing me at the same rate as a few months ago. The issue is that I no longer live in that house. The heat is set at 62 degrees, and there has been no hot water usage. I complained about the bill, but Nicor Gas confirmed their billing. How is this possible?
Budget Plan Rip-off
A few months ago, I saw a balance at the top of the statement which I believed would be apart of reassement for the next year. I was of course expecting our gas bill to go up to some degree since we were not living in the house. Then, I recieved a bill that I owed 500 plus dollars RIGHT away (in fact, it was PAST DUE). This large amount some how just got plopped on me without any advanced notice. I saw this was to be impossible because I always paid (as a budget plan SHOULD be) on time with the same amount. I never got a letter stating otherwise, or that our gas reading had been reevaluated. After looking online and talking to our own mortgage broker, he was not surprised at this occurring. It appears the budget plan is a way just to screw over many customers who are trying to simply pay their bills as it was presented ON TIME.
When I emailed Nicor about this, I recieved a short reply from a rep stating because I was "PAST DUE" on this huge amount of nowhere, they can simply take me off the budget plan. Really? You can just screw people over whenever you want? This is quite amazing since A) I was not informed properly via mail or email of any changes or late payments and B) I NEVER missed an actual payment! It is not like I completely blew off the monthly payment!
I really don't know who will read this or even care. I was told I probrably would get another short response that :That is how the budget plan works and I must pay."
To me, it has just been a terrible experience dealing with Nicor for these past few months. I have been left feeling confused not even certain after my "payment arrangement" ends, what heck my monthly gas payment will be. No one really knows I guess?! Perhaps, I will get tacked with another huge bill noted as PAST DUE!
It is not the proper way to run a business and treat customers. Now, I am on my some payment plan where my payments when to around 70 dollars a month to 200 for last four months to "make up" for my past due payment. As a concerned customer who did not want to this to show on a credit report, I am making these payments. I am planning on disputing this since it was ALREADY showing on my credit report! This never should have been reported anyway.
