Thanksgiving Day Rude service
On Thanksgiving Day, I went to Old Country Times Buffet on Watson Boulevard in Warner Robins (Centerville) Georgia. The line for dining in wrapped around the building, so a family member and I decided to go inside for a carryout meal. There was a strict "one large styrofoam and one small styrofoam tray" in place. There have always been styrofoam bowls for cabbage, turnip greens and collard greens. Collard greens was a part of my meal; however, I put them in a styrofoam bowl to avoid the juice getting on my other food, which included a cold salad.
There were two lines; one was for incoming dining in customers and one line for carryout customers. "Cathy" was my cashier. For clarity, "Cathy" is an older White woman who wears silver rings on every finger. At the other register for in-house dining was a woman who I describe as White, heavy set and "grandmotherly" age. I go to the restaurant frequently, see her walking around as if she is in charge, and say hello, though I do not know her name. She walked away from the customers waiting to pay for their meals, over to where I was and said, "We are enforcing a strict one large and one small styro only." I was keeping my collards separate from my other food, but they were part of my meal. She took the small bowl of collards and set them aside, refusing to let me get them. My sister said, "She walked over here just to do that?" We were both incredulous. She was determined I would not have collard greens. Her demeanor was one of aggression/bullying, as if she was ready to take me on... on Thanksgiving Day, over a small bowl of collard greens. She walked back to her own register. I briefly asked Cathy if I could dump the collards in my large tray, but before I could finish asking Cathy, the other woman left her register and said, "Cathy... NO." She then took the bowl of collards and put them underneath the register area where plasticware is kept, out of the reach of the public.
The collards were not an "extra tray." Just as people dining in also prefer, the bowls are there specifically for collards, turnip greens and cabbage. People dining in typically use the bowls. I was carrying mine out. The demeanor of the cashier was outrageous and frankly I was so taken aback, I was speechless, because she already had created a scene and it seemed to us she would not have minded a shouting match at all. However, I was raised better than that. The way other customers were looking at her said it all; there was no need for me to say another word to her. She actually hid the bowl of collards. If your restaurant has video, roll it back to around 1pm. I am dressed in black pants and my sister wore a red sweater and red fedora with a black trim. I've been going in there for awhile and seen this cashier often. She demonstrated that she had no class whatsoever. I wished Cathy a happy Thanksgiving and left without creating a scene the other cashier seemed to be ready for. Needless to say, I lost my appetite and wound up not eating the food at all.
Desired outcome: I work in public service. Thank you for teaching me who NEVER to become.

Changing diaper in booth
Old Country is much improved since new ownership. However today I was horrified to notice a foul odor behind me. I turned and saw a man changing a dirty diaper in the booth while he continued to shovel food in his face. I blame poor parenting and horrible manners of the Old Country Customer. However, No one asked him to take his baby and leave the restaurant. Old Country is working to improve and class up its image. A bare bottomed kid with a smelly, dirty diaper spread out on the booth is certainly not the image they need. I don't think I can ever go back to the restaurant and now I do not want to go to any buffets. I guess from now on I will prefer Non-Kid friendly restaurants. I do not blame the restaurant or the restaurant manager, but I do think all staff needs to be trained to be confrontive and to remove customers that behave in such a way. Every restaurant needs an on site manager who continually monitors food lines and deals with such situations and training needs to be implemented NOW.

poor service/old food
I came for lunch on september 13th at 2:00 pm with my date, and we didn't get paid attention to, we asked the person that seated us, then the hostess came over, and she ended up waiting on the entire resteraunt on her own, the food was all dried out, and most of the hotfood, and salad bars were empty and had rotten dried out food, we will not come here again, it was our first date, and not a good scene, I worked there for a few weeks, the staff are very mean and rude, and the place has gone downhill, and I deserve good food, good service, I will not recommend this place to anyone

On Wednesday 8/10/11 I went to a old country buffetin newark California for lunch and the cashier who was obviously new and inexperienced overcharged me tenfold. She must have pressed "7" twice, so instead of charging me $7.71 she entered $77.71. I didn't notice it at that time, but the next day when I was checking my bank statement, I immediately found that mistake and went to the buffet for a refund. The cashier was not there that day and I did not have a receipt, just a bank statement. So I was not surprised when the manager did not pay me back but promised that he would investigate the matter and would call me in 24 hours. I accepted that because I had no receipt. Later that day I found the receipt with the overcharge, so today I went there again to get a refund. That same cashier was there, she recognized me, and we called the manager again. Of course, he did not call me back, and to my surprise he still would not return the money, and continued to claim that "the corporate office" needs to "investigate it." Like maybe I was not alone, so it was not a single charge etc etc. But it is absurd, because the girl (the cashier) remembered me. So instead of apologizing for their obvious blunder they prefer to cast suspicion on me. He never told me the timeframe of their "investigation". I called the corporate office with a complaint, and they put me on hold, obviously called that manager, and then confirmed his story about the need to investigate - without any time frame, again, and without a proper apology. I know that eventually they will return my $70, but I will never set my foot there again. If it happened in a regular restaurant, I wound have been refunded immediately, with proper apologies, and without the need to go there multiple times and ask for my own money. This is not the way to treat a customer, period

My wife and I went to your country buffet in Aurora Co.. I went to the Mongolian grill, told the cook what I wanted on my plate. I asked for jalapino peppers to be cooked with the rest of my shrimp meal. Your cook told me that he did not have any peppers to add to my meal. On a table behind him was a pile of peppers in witch he advised me that he can not touch them and if I wanted peppers then I need to go to the taco table and get some peppers. I did not want raw peppers on my meal. I am very dissapointed that your cook did not reach behind him for some peppers. My wife and I have not been back and not planning on going back unless this matter is handled.

WELL I WENT TO HAVE FOOD THEIR ON MOTHERS DAY, WITH FAMILY. and i had eggs bacon, coffee, sunflower seeds omelett with mozzarrella cheese, jalapeno peppers, ham and bacon. everyone else at the table didnt. long story short, i got food poisioning from that mothers day buffet. and the way i found out i got food poisioning was i had to go see the dr. cause my stomach was cramping really bad, diarrhea really bad couldnt eat or drink anything. so dr. put me on antibiotic called ciprofloxacin and diphenoxylate. so i call them to tell them this and they are like they dont care, they served 1900 ppl and im the only 1 who got sick. i told her that you know of cause they probably were bashful or shy to call and tell you they got sick or maybe they thought it was the stomach flu like i did, till i went to see the dr, and told me it was food poisioning. i waist that they would get investegated, on seeing if they are following room tempartures and guidelines on how well they are checking their food for temp accuracy. i feel that if they dont care about there customers they should be closed down. who can i call to get food inspectors out their to follow up on them on food accuracy? i want justice, its not right that i had to suffer food poisioning because they neglected to check their food tempratures.
1. You said you had like 8 different foods, a lot of protein input, cheese, along with spicy peppers, and especially including coffee, that's like a recipe for disaster, you can get violent diarrhea just from those foods and it not being a pathogen reason, it just being you stuffing your face too god dang full of so many different foods that each in their own right can cause sickening craps because your body doesn't eat those foods on a daily basis, so when you cram them all in for one meal, yeah your body isnt going to be too happy with you!
2. Food poisoning doesn't always happen right away. There's a potential that pathogens you ate from food a week previous can be dormant that long and then cause food poisoning so you cannot pinpoint it to one specific meal. Before you go trying to shut down an establishment, realize that there is the possibility that something YOU cooked previously may have caused it! Unless you threw up that meal from your body rejecting it, then there's no sure way to say that the meal is what caused your food poisoning.
3. There's also a possibility that you may not have gotten food poisoning from the food. A sick person who sneezed into their hand may have touched the door handle you grabbed to enter the building, and you may have touched your mouth and transferred that pathogen to yourself.
4. GET OVER IT! While food safety is important, if you cannot prove that it was Old Country Buffet's fault, then you cannot place blame on them. End of story. A complaint site like this is for legitimate complaints, not pissed off irrational rants.
Don't eat there
Be aware! their service is louzy, many of their foods are under cooked, some of their foods are cold that should be hot. Also, if you complain about some thing, they won't listen to you! it's possibly the worst restaurant in the entire united states. it's better to go to a place like applebys, where they have good food and they listen to what you have to say. think about it, why do you think that so many of their restaurants have shut down? my friend and i had a bad experience at their restaurant. they did not want to listen to our complaint that their roast beef was as tough as an old cow! think about going any where else except old country buffet!

I was just wondering why you were in that no Plaza in Rochester New York and then just close so roughly and by the way you guys like I couldn't get enough of your food like it was so so good cuz I used to go there so much and like so many times but I'm kind of bummed out that you know you're gone and I wish you could come back thank you
This roasted chicken was untastful and rubbery I couldn't eat it it was so bad I don't know what else to say someone did not know how to roast it
On 11/9/2019, at 12:13 pm I paid extra for a steak that looked like leftover scrap pieces when I received it. All the other
steaks were whole pieces. I paid $16.13 for this meal that I did not enjoy. I would like compensation. I did not complain
at the time because I wanted to calm down first.
Saw employee eat off tray while putting food out . Complain to manager she did nothing
Not a complaint but thank you for workers like latasha from in the brickyard mall. On one of the worst days this year.she made me smile and i appreciate her for her humor.
6/4/[protected] The restrooms weren't sanitize and the floors weren't mopped children spilling gummy bears and ice cream on floors while they were running about without supervision. Hard water stains on sliverware and food were left for hours without any fresh food in the kitchen. The tables were sticky the condaments were sticky. There was poor service inside the restaurant too.
Our father eats there often, we ordered a gift card for fathers day, 18 days later, and 96 phone calls 1 email, 3 Facebook messages, we had to call the store he frequents to get any to act. the manager, the only one that cared to even return a call, got through and Duh it was never shipped. They obviously hve a culture of non caring called 9 times and no one can help, al;l tell me to call customer service who tells me they will send to " appropriate" people. still waiting. We ordered for this years fathers day not next years 11 months 2 weeks from now.
We visited Old Country Buffet in Lynnwood Washington today, on SW 200th Street. We were VERY offended when the bus person came to our table and took the cup of hot tea that my wife was drinking right out of her hands, she also took my half full glass of milk, She told us that we should have paid extra for our drinks. We were NOT informed at the cash register that drinks were extra. We would have paid extra if we were informed about this hidden charge. GOOD customer service would have been, "Please remember to pay for your drinks next time, I'll let you finish your drinks this time, enjoy your meal"... This was VERY RUDE... There are plenty more restaurants in the area who care about their customers and customer satisfaction...
It is January 5, 2014 and I had to hurry and get my food before I wanted to at an Old Country Buffet. They closed at 2:00 p.m. due to "weather"! There were snow flurries outside-the roads were only wet-not snow covered and slippery. Not bad weather!
I detest someone from corporate closing the restaurants when the weather isn't bad! They should allow the local restaurant management to make that decision based on the weather outside the local restaurant. Some of my food was cold and they say they have steak-but they didn't have any and weren't going to cook any when I wanted some and was there!
There were more people that expressed their disappointment to me when I was at the restaurant. They didn't like being rushed to get their food!
I hope corporate improves their decision making because this is the second time this happened! There were many out side the door with me last time when we wanted to eat and corporate decided to close the restaurant! It was during regular hours!
Instead of having a good taste in my mouth it leaves a bad taste for the restaurant!
I was appalled with the Old Country Buffet breakfast at the Deptford, NJ location. Everything was dried out. Ham was dry, pancakes were hard and cold, waffles were burnt and crispy, and I picked up a chocolate chip muffin and it broke up all over the table. Eggs were cold and hard from being left out way past their time. Bacon was over cooked and poor selection of fruit. I paid $15.15 for 2 breakfasts with drinks and I paid too much for what I could eat. I wanted a cinnanim bun but there were 3 left that were cold and hard. I asked our waitress if they were bringing out more and she said they were. We waited almost 1/2 hour and finally asked the manager, who snapped at my husband saying "I can't make them cook any faster then their cooking!" We have gone there for dinner on occasion and it wasn't so bad, but lately I have noticed the restaurant going downhill with the quality of food and the service. The Health Department should check on them because the place is dirty. We will not be returning there any time soon!
