harrassment
This is to confirm the complaints against this company. The representative, a kid who was trying to get information about the age of our water heater. I explained that I was not interested. He continued to try to explain and went on about how he was aware of the scams in our area but he was not. At any rate he simply would not leave. I had to be rude, I do not like to do that.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
horrible business and dishonest business owners
Ontario energy group is a scam company that nobody should ever deal with. The owner eugene farber is the most dishonest person on the planet! He didn't even pay his employee the money they worked their # off for. So folks be alert when anybody with oeg badge comes to your door!!!

On November 13th, 2012 two employee's of OEG called to my door in the evening stating that the Enbridge services for my air conditioner and heater were covered under a new government effeciency rebate. If they could inspect the sticker on my heater and A/C unit they could make sure it had the right piping (as per new standards).
I quickly informed them that I had not got an A/C and had no idea what letter they were referring. I asked if I could call Enbridge to have someone come out. I was told it would only take two seconds. The more questions I asked (as I actually know what I'm talking about) the more angry and rude they got. I calmly reported that I didn't have an air conditioner so their report must be wrong. Asking for credentials, besides they're flimsy laminated photo's I was told they were 'Licensed Inspectors'. Responding that I was actually trained my father in gas maintainence I said what could they do that I cant?
In short the more legitimate questions I asked, like for phone numbers, credentials, whether I could find the information myself and report back, how the government had a contract out with them, the more irritated and insulting they became. Eventually they insulted me, my friend and more besides as they stomped off down the street.
I contacted the office directly, just out of a formality, and made my complaint to a very nice young lady who has probably heard it all before.
In short, this is a scam, just like the water heater guys heading around, using misrepresentation to take advantage of confused homeowners. The guys at the door are not qualified at anything, they are sales men. Any rebate that can be given you can apply for yourself. No one needs to come to your home unless you want them to. Finally, as per the white/black PVC tubing necessary this is a change to the regulations. Meaning that any NEW installations require this, old installations are not affected (although upgrades are strongly advised).
note: this was in Brampton, On
4:30 pm 15/08/14 - OEG rep showed up at door, claiming legislation has been passed that required him to inspect our furnace for energy compliance. Left the neighbourhood quickly after I told him I was reporting his activities.
door to door sales call ends in assault
I will post my experience I had tonight and let those reading judge.
I had a young man come to my door. He said he was from 'Ontario Energy' and needed to come inside to make sure my furnace and air conditioner met the new efficiency standards. He literally started moving toward my open door as though he was going to walk into my house. I blocked his path, stepped onto the front porch, closed the door behind me. I knew right away he was using aggressive and misleading tactics, and I questioned him about his company and who he represented. He couldn't answer consistently, quickly got flustered and told me I could speak to his Manager. Only then did I notice the man standing at the edge of my property. Knowing full well these people would be going along the street preying on some of my elderly neighbours, I went toward the mystery man and asked him his name. He refused to tell me and actually told me to go back in my house if I wasn't interested. Since I don't take kindly to any bullying, I argued with him a bit. After insulting me a few times he reached around and patted me on the back twice in a mocking / demeaning way. Mr. Mystery no name man didn't realize that touching me equals assault and that I have a brown belt in jiu-jitsu. He was quickly pinned and restrained, I warned him that if he touched me again I would defend myself further and charge him with assault, then i released him. They walked away, the one yelling back that he would 'destroy me'. I quickly went inside to grab my cell phone, called 911, and followed them up the street. They were parked about a block away, got into a white BMW and sped off. Unfortunately i didn't get a complete license plate. Police attended the scene, I gave them a report, they told me to call 911 if I ever spotted them again, I've alerted my neighbours and hopefully these guys were shaken up enough to change a bit.
In hindsight, the biggest problem I have with these people isn't whether they'll scam me, it is that I know they are just looking for the easy target to prey on. I agree that we are at a point now where no reputable company, charity, or other group should be knocking on doors soliciting anything. No reputable company should be doing it, and 99% no longer do.
So Ontario Energy Group, in my opinion, is an organization that no one should ever deal with. There is enough convincing evidence online to back up my opinion, they don't even list a location of any kind on their website, and they employ people and practices that are questionable at best.

In the course of two days, I've had two separate individuals knock on my door and ask if I'm the owner of the home.
When I tell them I am, they inform me they are from the Ontario Energy Group and are here to inspect my Furnace, Air Conditioning and Water Heater.
I tell them I am not interested but they insist they need to do an inspection.
I again tell them I am not interested and they become somewhat hostile and insistent on doing an inspection.
Only after I FIRMLY tell them I am not interested, they stomp off.
You're actually an ###... Was that really necessary to pin him to the ground because he sarcastically patted you on the back? Like I'm sorry but this guy probably had no intention of causing physical harm to you and you clearly were the one trying to bully him with your oh so special "brown belt in jiu-jitsu". That was a pretty immature act on your part as you could have easily just told him you weren't interested and closed the door. Usually people will be nice to you if you're not so rude to them.
Similar incident although I didn't get to escort the person from my home. :( Man showed up and said he was with the government and needed to come into my home to inspect the furnace. I noticed the OEG logo on his jacket and badge and asked him what he was selling. Nothing he said, at which point he then stated that as a government official (true) he had the right to enter my home and inspect my furnace for safety reasons. I politely said, no thank you, please have my address removed from your list so you don't return and please leave. As he was on his way off the stoop, he turned and informed me that until someone from the government had entered my home and inspected my furnace, he or someone would keep coming back. I forwarded this to OEG via email and was told they don't keep a "do not call" or "do not disturb" list and that unless I could provide the badge number and name there was little they could do but they would definitely forward the email to management. I responded asking that they do not return and was again told that they couldn't guarantee someone wouldn't be by. I recently filed a complaint for business practices with the BBB.org.
I just had a young male come to my door from Ontario Energy Group. He spoke to my wife and misrepresented himself as a government employee who needed to inspect my air conditioner and furnace. My wife told him to wait so she could get me. I came to the door and he was gone however I found him at the side of my house inspecting my air conditioner. I told him several times to get off my property but he just kept trying to talk about my air conditioner. I finally told him he was contravening the Trespass to Property Act physically escorted him by the arm to the curb . He even tried to polish his shoes as I escorted him. He then said he was calling the police. I told him that was great and I would be waiting for them. He pretended to phone the police but he then left the neighbourhood with two of his other fraudsters. I would advise anyone not to even open your door to them as you will have a hard time getting rid of them if you engage them. You will recognize them by their OEG shirt logos.
Good for you! I completely agree with your actions, this is the third time they have knocked on my door and I am tired of it!
misrepresentation
On February 2, 2012 a sales person from Ontario Energy Group knocked on our door and told my wife that they needed to inspect our furnace and hot water heater. They needed to be checked to see if it met new government regulations. He presented himself as a government official on official business. He also said that he needed to see our energy bills. My wife let him in and he inspected the hot water tank and furnace. He told her that they were terribly in-efficient, old and needed to be replaced. My wife told him that she would not make any decisions and to come back when I was home. The sale person returned. I asked about the company he worked for. He stated that they are certified with the government of Ontario to inspect and replace heating and cooling equipment that is not energy efficient. He went on to inform me that our energy bills are way to high and our furnace and hot water tank are not efficient and they are old. I informed him that he is misrepresenting himself as a government inspector and he is intentionally lying to people and committing fraud. Our home has had a full energy audit conducted by a legitimate company and has been fully renovated. Our home is 90 years old and nearly 4000 square feet and our heating bill in January was $140. This is very good compared to other homes like ours. Our furnace is high efficiency and our hot water tank is 3 years old and also high efficiency. This company is misrepresenting themselves and intentionally committing fraud.
same situation here in London, yesterday March 16, 2016
Andy Nguyen came to our home and said the same government id and all, needed to see if I meet the green energy standards, told him I had new equipment in 2013, he said he needed to inspect it, reluctantly we let him look at the tags on the furnace and then he went on to his spiel about overpaying(just energy) and qualifying, for the "free" water filtration system of $50.00 per month to be 100% efficient and to save money on the hydro bills that will more than cover the rental cost of the equipment . I told him I would research it and get back to him if I wanted to do it. I felt it was a scam all along and he kept saying what don't you understand, you will save money to pay for the new equipment, that I did not want...
I said I understand that you want to rent me a water filtration system that I do not want, and I will verify my savings with the companies I already deal with. Very pushy didn't stop trying to convince us we needed it...and wanted to come in and talk at the table, NOT...was at the door more than 1 hour, and had "run out" of the the literature on the said equipment. Nice try, NO SALE HERE
Stop these unscrupulous sales people, and people from saying they work for the government.
These OEG people never give up, either. Had a couple lads arrive at my house in the middle of a blizzard, a couple weeks, ago. The first thing they did was lie to me, telling me they were canvasing in the area, for the first time. When I recognized the logo on his coat, I recalled the last time we encountered them. In 2013/14, we blindly took them at their word, let them in, assured us we were eligible for a new furnace and a/c unit. OK, so we signed off on the contract. We waited, nothing. Then a couple weeks later, another pair come by again, trying to get us to sign up. We explained the situation, and they contacted their HQ to get confirmation. Turns out we weren't eligible. OK, fine, have a nice day. Months later, another pair comes, and I tried to warn them off, and explained the situation from previous encounters. They wanted to verify with their HQ. Guess what... we're eligible, again. Only one minor detail. There was no gas line connected to our home. No problem, Union Gas will come & fix that up. One more problem. It's early in April. No one is coming to install anything until things thaw out, a bit. So, we're waiting again. Never heard from Union Gas, never heard from OEG, nothing. Oh well... no biggie. Now, fast forward to the two loons that were harassing me, just a few weeks ago. Before they got into his little speech, I told them, look, unless you've got a Furnace in the back of the truck, there's nothing further to be gained. Would... Not... Take... No, for an answer. Finally, I just kept cutting them off, and insisted they leave. He just wouldn't... so, I just became more adamant. Things looked as though they were going to escalate, he approached me, and wondered what my problem was. I told him, he pissed me off. There's nothing to be gained from an irate, would be customer. Finally, they backed down, and walked away, berating me, and telling me how bad a person I am. Misery love company, guys. Thanks for having this page, available.
The same thing happened to us. The man/boy claimed to work for government of Ontario to inspect our furnace, A/C, & hot water tank, and it is a government mandate/requirement, and it would take two minutes of our time, which was more like 15-20 minutes, before I told him to leave, since he said it would take 2 minutes, and I was very busy. He is very insistent to see your utility bills, which I did not feel comfort in show him them, but my husband convinced me otherwise. He said that my last gas bill told me that someone would come by. If a person by the name of Stanko Pavic, DO NOT let him in your home, he is quite rude when you tell him to leave is very ignorant to be a representative of OEG or any representative for any company. He will tell you that you will need to replace your furnace, A/C & hot water tank. He will say it is too old regardless of what you say. He will state how much you will save, once you replace (obviously if you buy from him).
A young man came this evening, Saturday, September 5, at 8:30 pm, claiming that he was with the Ontario Energy Authority (he had a badge and was wearing a shirt with an OEG logo). He explained that he a letter was sent in 2007 (8 years ago!) by the OEA informing homeowners of new energy efficiency standards coming in effect. He asked to check my AC for the efficiency label; I had to open the gate to the side of the house which then we couldn't put back in; it took him about 1 second, using a flashlight to decide that the label wasn't there so then he said he needed to check my furnace. Upon further questioning as to why I didn't know about this, he said again that a letter was sent in 2007 and I didn't receive a phone call because I'm in the "no call list". I told them that list is for telemarketing, not for government requirements. He said OEG is HIRED by the Ontario Energy Authority. I don't think so...! As to checking my furnace, when I get a letter in advance.
On August 21, 2015 a young man with an OEG ID around his neck rang our door bell. He claimed to be authorized by the ontario governemt and asked to come in to the house to inspect our furnace to make sure it is to code. We asked him to leave as we do not do business at the door. he insisted that he was not selling anything and we are by law required to allow him in. I told him to come back with the police and a warrent.
This is a message from my mother, who wasn't comfortable signing in with an account:
i had two young men come to my door claiming to be doing safety inspections of furnaces and air conditioners in the neighbourhood. i told him that i was not interested in purchasing anything and he made me feel that i had to let him in to inspect the furnace to see if it met government regulations. again i told him that i had not received anything from the government to suggest that they were conducting a mandatory inspection of anything in the neighbourhood. because of the hard sell misrepresenting himself as a safety inspector of sorts i mistakenly believed he had asked to see my water heater. again he told me he had to do an inspection to see if my home met government guidelines. i foolishly let him in and realized i don't have a furnace because i have electric heat! i showed him the water heater instead! he left and when i looked up ontario energy group i realized he was a sales man and looked for him on the street. i found his friend and told him that i was going to call the company to complain. then i looked for the real creep who completely misrepresented himself and was condescending (" can i speak to the boss?" ) and insulting as well ( "did i interrupt your snack? you seem so angry"- after i realized they were scammers and was visibly annoyed that i had let them into my house). i spotted this young man leaving in his car, took down his license plate and complained to the company- whether this yields any results. the person who took my call was professional and assured me that nothing was mandatory and that she would refer this information to an agent manager. i am grateful that i found this page because i realize i am not alone in this experience.
In Nov 2013 OEG knocked on my 83 year old mother's door, told her they were checking to be sure her central air conditioner met the new Ontario efficiency standards, had her sign a ridiculous contract ($80.00/mth for 15 yrs $6500 buyout), then replaced her perfectly functioning, fully paid for unit with a piece of crap Goodman.
When I discovered this I phoned OEG explained my mother has Alzheimers and did not understand what she had agreed to expecting them to do the right thing once they were aware of her condition. They refused, I stopped payment expecting them to sue me but they have done nothing so far.
My mom has to leave her house now, can't live on her own and this situation hangs over our heads.
OEG is not a business it is a CRIMINAL ORGANIZATION. It should not be allowed to exist in Ontario and it's unethical, morally bankrupt ownership should be facing jail-time.
Man arrived at my door stating that he was a government official and needed to enter my home to inspect my furnace. I noticed that his jacket and badge both had the OEG logo on it and questioned him about it. He explained OEG is a subsidiary of the government and that he was a government official who had the right to enter my dwelling to perform an inspection of my furnace for safety reasons. I said no thank you, please do not return and please leave. I was informed that he or someone would keep returning until such time as they were able to complete the inspection of my furnace. I emailed the company with this information and also asked to be left alone. I was told that the email would be forwarded to management however, without a name and/or badge number very little could be done. I was also told that they do not maintain a "do not call" or "do not disturb" list. I explained in a response that further such visits constitute trespassing and would be met in kind. The initial visit was on the 22nd of Sept. 2014 at 7pm, emailed OEG that night, response received on the 24th, complaint filed with BBB.org for business practice on the 24th. I'm not a fan of bullying and OEG should be shut down for practicing such tactics, let alone impersonating, what did he say... oh yes, a government official, that's right. Something needs to be done to stop this crap, we're told there are laws and repercussions to prevent such practices yet still they continue so that tells me A. it's generating business for the bullying company and B. the repercussions aren't enough to deter such practices.
I had a young man come to my door a couple of days ago wearing a traffic vest and with a photo ID hanging from his shirt pocket, claiming to be doing inspections on A/C and furnaces to ensure they meet new government guidelines. He said he was with Ontario Energy (which clicked in my brain as Ontario Energy Board, which they are not) and that it was a provincially sponsored program, so I let him come in and look and our furnace. We do not have central A/C. After looking at the furnace he told me that it was a very old unit (which I already knew) and that it would have to be replaced to meet the new guidelines. He then asked if he could have a look at my electrical and gas bills to see if we were paying unnecessary charges such as third party billing fees, so I showed him the bills. He then told me that we were indeed paying third party fees and that if we signed up for this "provincial government" program these third party fees would be removed and we would receive a FREE furnace and that they would install it for FREE plus remove and dispose of our old one also for FREE. Of course I was skeptical because I have been around long enough to know there is no such thing as free anything, but human nature being what it is I let him continue because up to this point I still thought he was representing a provincial government agency. Once we sat down at the kitchen table he pulled out some literature and proceeded to work some numbers regarding our billing and what we would save by accepting his offer. Long story short I agreed to sign a paper that was not binding and only confirmed that he had done the inspection and would submit our info to head office to see if we qualified for the program and that we would receive a phone call within a day or two from head office to let us know if we qualified. After he left I went online to check out his company which I saw on his papers was actually Ontario Energy Group, and was horrified by what came up. First of all, Ontario Energy Group is NOT accredited with the Better Business Bureau and they have a listing of numerous complaints against this company. There is an advisory warning against them from the BBB as well. I scrolled through some of these complaints and found that there are many claiming that the sales rep that came to their door misrepresented himself just like mine did, plus numerous complaints from people that had new equipment installed and were not satisfied with the service they received afterward. When I got the call from OEG head office the next day, I immediately cancelled and told them I wanted nothing to do with their company. I did learn a valuable lesson out of this however, be wary of anybody going door to door and be aware that they know how to say the right things to get you r interest, by offering you free stuff or huge savings. The FREE furnace of course turned out to be basically a 15 year rental.
They were in our area about 3 months ago and tore out our old A/C unit and put in a new one. They still haven't come back to hook it up to the furnace and we have had some hot days. In other words we are paying for something that doesn't work, ahead of time. I am nervous that this will not be resolved.
misleading
Company called my home and was very misleading suggesting they must book an appt to enter my home and review my furnace to ensure it will meet new ontario gov't codes. Website also looks very professional. I called ontario energy board and ministry of consumer complaints. Both told me that they are misrepresenting the company and there is no such mandatory review. Very professional scam artists
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
Just happened to me. Very pushy and rude, luckily I had heard about them before and didn't fall for their scam. Beware!
very bad after sale service
Do not do any business with this company...
I signed a contract with this company to replace my hot water tank... Bad decision... Should have google the name of the company before doing so...
The sales rep will tell you something (the installer will be at your place at 8 am sharp), then the after sale rep that calls to confirm your appointment will tell you something else (installer will be there between 8 and 10), and to make matter's worse, the installer called me on installation day to tell me he would be at my place at noon and he was late an hour since he had until 11 to get to my place!
In addition, the sales rep told me that they would need to make holes in my wall but they will fix the whole with a vent. However, when the installer got here, it was an extra charge to fix the wholes he made!
All in all, this company is not well integrated and only there for your $. Once the contract is signed, dont expect to be respected as a valued customer.
They are crooks, my story is too long to post here, I am preparing a law suit against them and it is a 7 page scenario so it's convoluted. They are definitely not to be trusted and they won't let go, they will rob you in front of your eyes and be bold about it. I need to find the names of any of these 3 positions to serve them with the law suit papers, manager, director or owner, I looked over the net for hours and could not find these info, when I called to find out they would not divulge any info as if they knew it was going to be about a big complaint.
Any help is appreciated, thanks.
At around 6:30 p.m. November 2011, a very smooth talking young man and a young lady waited as I drove into my driveway tired from work. They presented themselves as an authority and requested to check my furnace stating that there was a new government regulation which expected furnaces to be of certain standard.
Of course being ignorant of Canadian regulations, I was so intimidated that I let them in and allowed them to inspect my furnace. They immediately commented that it did not meet required standards hence were not only affecting the environment but also affected my gas consumption. They recommended I install a new one immediately as this would reduce my heating bill by as much as 70%. I explained that I was not interested as I was about to sell my house to which the young responded would indeed be a benefit as the value of the house would increase and I could transfer the cost to the new owner.
Not at any one time did he inform me that financing would be through a third party and neither did he inform me that I would be bound to pay for 15 months. On the day of the agreed installation, I kept on calling the office and it appears there were discrepancies with the order. Finally when someone came to install, I brought it to his attention the difference in model numbers from my copy of authorization to which he stated that indeed what I was getting was of better quality. He proceeded to remove the old furnace. Immediately he stated that there were serious safety issues with the water heater that would affect the new furnace once installed and he proceeded to recommend that the water heater also needed to be replaced otherwise the company would not issue warranty as there was possibility of carbon monoxide leaking back into the house. Once again, I was intimidated by the fact that my son’s bedroom was next to the furnace room and that his safety was in jeopardy. Once again, I was that this would be an added bonus as it would greatly reduce the cost and that I would be very little per month. Not at any given time was I informed that this would be financed through a financial institution.
After the installation, the technician stood by me and pointed out where I was to sign. Once again, he never mentioned that this transaction was through a third party. The nightmare began once I sold my house and the last week of closing I was informed by my lawyer that there was a lien on my property. This house is registered to both me and my husband and he was never privy to the transaction. To remove the lien, I had to pay a penalty for discontinuing the “contract” of 15 years. The transaction was concluded on 22nd June, 2012 and I received a copy of the discharge. To my dismay, since payment was being done through my Enbridge bill, I have been receiving bills for the furnace and water heater which includes late payment charge. On the week of August 6th, I received a call from a debt collector demanding immediate payment. This is causing me a lot of stress and mental torture given that had I known, I would have arranged payment directly with my bank as I have good credit history.
My earlier attempts to discuss the matter with OEG prior to closing the deal for my property were futile as no one was willing to discuss this with me.
I need them to pay me back the cost of the furnace and water including the penalties I paid plus interest. I also need them to be given warning to desist from unethical marketing practices.
i had a tankless water heater installed by Ontario Energy Group. The agreement was to finance over 10 years and they tried to sneak a 15 year agreement by me. Very sneaky...wouldve cost thousands extra. My hot water takes 1 and a half minutes to warm up. This isn't right. They said it is. I called and spoke with someone else who said 15 to 20 seconds is normal. He will send someone between 3 and 5. Still waiting and it's 7. I guess they arent coming

The company installed a new water heater and before they did they called to delay the installation by a couple of days. They did turn up on time but a week later the connection between the water supply and the tank started to leak. It has taken 4 calls (long distance) to even speak to someone. The first 3 times I had to leave a message. I left 2 phone numbers for them to call but have not heard from anyone. I finaly spoke to the operator today and she promised that "Glen" would call me back asap. Let's hope he actually does otherwise I wil be find a way to cancel the agreement because so far they haven't lived up to their side of it. The three photos show the lousy connection and the foam insulation I think is a fire risk. It is now almost 2 hours since I phoned and no call back yet.
waterless tank
Hi there,
I'm wondering if anyone out there has had a less than agreeable experience with the company ontario energy group, based in oakville. It's been a few months now since they came to install their waterless tank. Ever since signing the contract with them, it's been a constant battle. They left us without hot water in minus 20 degree weather in feb. Since then we've had problems with the furnace and all of a sudden no one is accessible at the company. I'm tired of companies offering services to the public (scams) then once a contract is signed they don't return your phone calls and all of a sudden you don't exist. It's been seven months and we don't even have a copy of the contract and our warranty. I'm just wondering what experiences others have had with this company. I know companies change their names and operate under different umbrella's. There needs to be some serious change in laws and regulations. As a consumer I feel i've been left without any rights and no where to turn to.
Hi there,
Again sorry for your experience with this company.
My advice to you is to place a complaint with the BBB ( Better Business Bureau Canada), that way there are more experiences documented on this company.
This is the link: (http://hamilton.bbb.org/commonreport.html?id=194424342)
If the link does not work, do a google search for Better Business Bureau Canada, click on "for consumers", this will lead you to do a search on the company...enter the company (Ontario Energy Group)...place a complaint.
When you place a complaint with the BBB you will be contacted by a mediator. They will also be contacting OEG on your behalf. What I did in addition to placing a complaint was...I emailed the president, Eugene Farber at: eugene@ontarioenergygroup.com, detailing my complaint. I hope the email I provided will show up in the post. It's a long process, but don't give up! I emailed almost everyday...to Mark Treger the Operations Manager...
it was tedious but I kept it up...a year and some after...I got my papers!
Hope this helps!

Get the facts straight:
It's nice to see that there's at least 1% of the consumer population that is satisfied with the business practices of the Ontario Energy Group. The issues posted here ARE factual, they are individual cases and experiences with this company. I'm sure your facts are straight because it was YOUR experience with OEG.
Do yourself and the rest of us a favour, don't diminish our experiences as un factual just because you've experienced a different level of service. Consider yourself lucky!
Don't you think the rest of us would have wanted the same? Unfortunately we've had to deal with situations beyond our control. If our comments are so un factual, than maybe The Better Business Bureau along with so many other consumers are just saying nonsense for the hell of it. We have nothing better to do than write slander about OEG? Get a grip!
That FACTS ARE:
1) Most of us that have posted HAVE HAD ISSUES WITH THE SERVICE AND OR PRODUCT
2) The facts are ...MY PHONE CALLS HAVE BEEN DODGED OR NOT RETURNED WHEN WANTING ANSWERS FROM OEG
3) I HAVE WAITED A YEAR FOR MY DOCUMENTS, yes I FINALLY RECEIVED THE CONTRACT... after a year!
My extended warranty can't be purchased on line, as it was promised to me for a botch job done when installing my furnace the first time. My family and I were left for 4 days without hot water in -20 degree weather in the middle of February. I had to call everyday to get someone out to my house to finish the job. No one from this company bothered to realize that a whole family without hot water in the middle of February was an emergency. THIS IS A FACT.
So getyourfacts straight, just as you are free to speak your mind...I presume that I am also privy to that right...this is a free country, last I checked... right?
Or do you want to get that fact checked as well?
We don't have to agree, but you can at least give us the respect and freedom to talk about our experiences without calling us liars.
P.S: CHeck out the Better Business Bureau ...the fact is that they have an F rating...I called and talked to some one at the BBB. They get many complaints about this company. What we hope to do is have this company better it's business practices so that the rest of us can receive the same stellar service you did.
Hi there,
Again, so sorry to hear that yet another person is being ripped off by this company. I've just today sent another email requesting my copy of the contract, receipt of purchase and extended warranty. I've been requesting this documentation for get this, A YEAR! I wish that the public knew about this company and how it operates before handing over their hard earned money, not to mention their trust. The government should have more protection rights for the consumer, we are clearly getting the short end of the stick.
I can really sympathize with you, as I myself have yet to receive any receipt and or documentation (not to mention my warranty), and it is close to a year! Which is why I posted my complaint. I'm still waiting!I've been emailing the "Operations Manager", Mark Treger. He has yet to provide anything. The only good thing that came out of it, is that I made him put things in writing and email it to me. This is the only solace I've had, otherwise I would have lost my sanity with these people a long time ago. The excuse that I received for the down right incompetent and unprofessional manner in which they conduct their business, has been quite pathetic in my humble opinion. The reason I hadn't received any information was because the company had moved and they were unable to locate the documents. Yeah right! He was going to locate everything and send them to me ASAP...this was August.
I agree with you in that, the guys that are doing the installation are very efficient and really professional. I don't fault them one bit, they are doing their job to the best of their ability. The follow up at OEG is non existent. I told Mark Treger, that he's running a cash grab business. The sales people come, they do a great job of convincing that you need their product, that their product is the best, that you will be saving in the long run. As soon as you sign on the dotted line, they are very quick about processing payments and taking your money...after they have your money, you might as well not exist! You never hear back from them! I've had to waste my valuable time and compromise my sanity to get these people to do the minimum. It's sad to think that company can pride itself on being barely mediocre. It's a wonder to me how they are still in business. I regret purchasing their product. What I wonder is...is it legal to withhold a contract from someone? Are we not legally entitled to have a copy of the contract and receipt? Can you imagine, all of the people that have been scammed! I can imagine there's a few too many out there.
These two door to door sales people for OEG group come to my house and ring the door bell which was fine but when I get to the door they had already taken it upon themselves to open my door so when I got there they could just start talking to me. I have 3 young boys here and do not find it appropriate for strangers to just come here and open my door to start talking to me. If I choose to talk I will open my door for you.Thank you. Cari Caza
Phone number for [protected] for Samer Khalil Chris is [protected] They are driving a blue SUV . There is Two gentleman one what to check out your furance /water heater/AC unit don't let them . First guy is dark skin very heavy set go by the name of Chris Smith which is not real name . The other guy also sort of medium skin tone go by the name Samer Khalil .
I purchased a new water heater 2 years ago, on a monthly payment plan. I recently moved and tried numerous time calling them, emailing them. Nobody ever got back to me. I'm still trying to get a hold of them. The fact is, I was stuck buying it out.. at a cost of $1600. I wanted to see about any other options, possibly getting the water tank moved but time ran out...
I'm out lots of money, the new owners are the winners here getting a new tank. my money flushed down the drain. Please be aware of this, if your planning on moving don't do what I did. As a company you would think they would at least call or email back? possibly offer some assistance. I was pressured into buying it, no idea that it was rent to own. Buyer beware!
regards, Niagara.
You should have immediately called OEG to complain, and called the police to report an attempted break-in. These idiots could get shot doing something that stupid, or be charged with robbery, assault, or attempted rape. OEG knows they would share liability in a case like that.
i work for oeg im shadman. if you have problem with something is hard to get threw the phone line most times. so i can give you numbers. lindsay [protected] frank [protected] shop [protected] frank runs the service department nice guy and lindsay runs the shop if you have any problems and cant get ahold of anyone call her. i hope i help
These a-holes come to your door and try to make it sound like they were sent there by Enbridge to 'upgrade' something and that's already complete and utter BS. Someone from OEG just came to my door and, as i stood there barefoot and pregnant and after I said I wasn't interested, aggressively tried to convince me they had the right to come into my house and 'perform the upgrade." That alone was enough for me to threaten to call the police. These companies are actually ###. It's not the specific salesperson, it's how the companies make their money by misleading people. You will get a notice in the mail from your actual energy provider should anyone EVER need to come into your home to do anything with regard to your energy. I'm so tired of seeing these scammers walking around my neighbourhood.
Hello everyone,
I work for Ontario Energy Group, and I'd like to say I'm very sorry to hear of any, and all of the less than pleasant situations some of you have run into.
I'd like to say, each individual agent is responsible for their own customers and how the full interactions from the day they meet you, until 20 years later...how ever long you choose to be associated with them and the company.
Please, always make sure you have the name, number and office location they work out of so if there is a situation you are better able to get a hold of them to have it fixed. Or, be able to contact the office and have them reached or dealt with.
We do our very best to weed out, less than expectable agents that use pressure sales tactics, pushy, lie, or do anything else less than reputable. But we need homeowners help as well. We need you, to call in with the agent information and speak with that agents manager.
As an agency manager, I take any and all complaints very seriously.
My agents are specifically trained to do things properly. Should a complaint come in, it is logged and handled. I do not allow for fraud, aggressiveness, or underhanded sales tactics.
I can not speak for everyone, only my side of things and I assure you the company as a whole is not bad. But yes, as in everything there are bad apples.
We provided homeowners with affordable ways to receive high efficiency equipment, understand their bills and lower them. Understand and remove any extra "problems" on their bills and show them how to keep it off, bills low and be more energy efficient.
should anyone need any assistance with anything please feel free to contact myself at carlyoeg@gmail.com
I will do my best to help you resolve your issues.

don't ever..ever...let anyone from Ontario Energy Group into your house..or don't even talk to them.my brother just got scammed by this company.a salesman going by the name Mohamed Ozzy Ozman ill advised my brother to replace his 6 yr old furnace, he told him his energy bill will be a lot lower after the change.the opposite was true, his bill doubled.Ozman also told my brother he would take off all third party charges he had on his current embridge bill...ne never did that. Ozman has refused to answer or return any phone calls. my brother contacted Ontario Energy Group to get help resolving the issue...they told him they can't help. he need to speak to Ozman... Ozman would not return/answer calls.. if you are stupid enough to even consider doing business with Ontario Energy Group call me [protected]) before you do so...i will give you a million reasons why you shouldn't
Have never bought anything from OEG but a few min ago I had a door to door sales person try to gain entry into my hope to 'check the #s on the pipes' by the furnace! He gave me some song and dance about ' documents having been sent' and he was to be expected. My door has a red sign that reads: NO DOOR TO DOOR SALES PEOPLE PLEASE and he still had the nerve to knock! I was home alone and not about to let an unannounced male visitor in (I was also holding my dog back at the door). When I told him to come back and speak with my husband, and that he should be here soon, he asked me how old my furnace was, I said 2yrs. He said, ok that's all I needed to know, we don't need to look and qui colt acquired off down the street...Does he think I'm an idiot? If that's all you wanted to know, then why did you ask for access to my home first? Thinking of calling the police...
Similar to UpsetInToronto, a salesman came to my door, saying that the province's efficiency standards were changing and that they had to check all furnaces/AC and water heaters to ensure they were in compliance with the upcoming changes. I let him in to have a look. He had me believing that my furnace and A/C (10+ years old, but still functional) were going to require upgrading with the new standards. That's an expense I can't afford right now, so I signed on. After reading this board and the BBB profile, I called Enbridge and my hydro company, both of whom said that they are unaware of any such changes that would require me to upgrade. I phoned the next day to cancel my installation and contract. Thank God the Consumer Protection Act that allows you to cancel the contract within 10 days... which might be why they were so anxious to install the equipment this weekend. Too bad for OEG... my equipment is pretty old, so I probably would have signed with them, but I have no desire to be stuck with a company that got my business based on a lie. I am obviously going to be much more cautious about those who arrive at the door.
