I have been trying to cancel my account for months and they keep saying they can't find my account/email but I keep getting charged 24.95 per month on my debit VISA card. This is outrageous...I have been on hold for hours during work which is very difficult...they are only open for calls Mon - Fri til 5:30...which is when I work so how can I contact them...they keep replying with form emails to my email inquiry...I am furious...they need to find my account and credit me for the months of charges...do not buy into this service which didn't give me any information that was not available to me online without paying...rip off

PeopleFinders can't find your account? Wow! That says a lot about their service. Thanks for warning us.
PeopleFinders is the absolute biggest scam. I signed up because they said they had comprehensive information on the person I was searching, then when they got all my billing information, they ended up not having a thing on him! Just his name. I was furious but what could I do? So I cancelled my membership immediately. I continued to be billed $24.95 a month by them for 6 MONTHS. After the second time their charge showed up on my statement I went to their website and demanded a cancellation of my membership through their customer service center, which I (wrongly) assumed they did. Next month, another charge. This time I actually called and demanded they stop billing me and refunding my money. They wouldn't refund my money but said they'd stop billing. Next month - ANOTHER CHARGE! I was furious and went to my bank for refunds of all but the initial charge. PeopleFinders refused to participate in the refund and even encouraged Citi not to refund my money because there was no evidence I tried canceling my plan! And Citi is now actually being very difficult getting my money back to me! If all PeopleFinders needs to say is "well, we didn't see anything" then they have the ability to rip off a ton of people. NEVER use this site.
Great review If you want to make further effective complaints, I suggest your Attorneys General. Here is the website listing contact information for all in the United States. Anyone with similar concerns as you can contact your Attorneys General office of your home state and the state that that offending business is registered in. Simply go to their main page and look for links to their Consumer Protection programs and agencies sponsored in that state.
Many of those agencies can and do help you directly and make inquires to companies on an individual basis. Very direct and timely

I am an elderly woman & was trying to find one of our foster daughters--now about 39 yrs old. Through hunting & searching the internet, I thought I had a free site--peoplefinders. Foolishly, I put in my credit card number. When I was billed, my husband questioned it but paid the bill. (he has Alzheimers, hydrocephalus & cardiac issues) I called People finders & spoke with a very arrogant female who refused to let me speak to a supervisor. Finally, I leaf a message to who I thought was a supervisor but was never called back. I lost $29.99 & hope I don't continue to get billed monthly. Of course I never found our foster daughter.
