This club offered a free trial for $1, so I decided to try it. The terms of service say that you will automatically be charged monthly for the service if you do not cancel and list a cancellation phone number. The terms also say that they are unable to accept cancellations through email at this time.

After looking the service over, I decided I didn't want or need it and called the listed phone number to cancel. The phone number goes to an automated sweepstakes entry with a lengthy survey of potential services or offers that you have to answer yes or no to and claims that after the survey, you have received an entry into a sweepstakes for a $50 gift card. After patiently answering all the the questions, it thanked me, said I was entered into the sweepstakes and hung up on me. The phone number had absolutely nothing to do with the Periodicals Savings Club.
Luckily, I had also written down a second phone number when I had signed up for the $1 trial. The phone number really didn't say what it was for and was in very small print so most people would probably miss it altogether. Apparently this is their customer service number. Nobody ever answers it though. It asks you to leave a message with your name, number and account number and they will call you back but nobody ever does. Also, it's impossible to find your account number or even to find a website where you can access your account.
With the big error of providing the wrong phone number for cancellations and the impossibility of accessing your account online and the fact that if you did happen to see and write down the anonymous 800 number that only appears in very small print on one page of the enrollment forms you still can't reach anyone, I have to believe that this company is intentionally trying to commit fraud.

I did email them and explain that it was impossible to reach them and that they had printed misinformation in their terms of service. I also told them that they needed to cancel my account immediately on the basis of this email regardless of what their terms of service said because there didn't seem to be any other way to reach them, but we will see what happens. Stay away from this company. I think they just want your account number so that they can randomly charge you. If I don't hear anything from them soon, I will get my bank involved on the basis of fraud. It may take a lawsuit to get this resolved though.

I, stupidly, signed up with them after feeling pressured and couldn't hear them well on the phone. Well, I tried cancelling, more than once, and it goes to voicemail asking to leave a message and they will call you back. Unfortunately, I was working and had no time to leave a message. When I finally got through to someone, I asked to cancel my w/e account. That only cancelled the AWARD I was to receive. The guy told me it was past the 3 days of cancelling the magazine subscription. I stated to him I had tried calling sooner to cancel, but no one answered. He then stated that the system does not show I called. I said I called a few times. I went on and told him I didn't leave a message because I work and cannot be on the phone while working. I told me to send in prof that I called because, again, THEIR system doesn't show I ever called. I asked how I was s'posed to do that and he stated to fax in a copy of my phone bill, which I don't get as it is paperless. I told him I am working from home and have no access to a fax machine. He told me to go to a library. I advised him I work 6 am to 5 pm everyday and when I'm off, the library is closed. He stated it wasn't his problem. I asked him if he was calling me a liar and all he could say was that's not what I said. So I disconnected our call. Thinking if I called back I'd get someone else who wasn't quite so rude and a little more caring, I called back and, wa la, got the very same guy. He said when that number gets called, he is the one who answers it. If I'm thinking right, it's for cancellations. I told him I really had no access to a fax machine and he again told me, not his problem. That their system did not show me as calling them. I told him again I couldn't leave a message as I was working. Again, not allowed on the phone while working and no access to a fax machine and I work 6 am to 5 pm daily. No cares. I told him he was rather rude and told him I'd cancel my card. He said it wouldn't matter. Their company paid for the subscription and I was paying them back. It would just follow me. I disconnected my call with him. I even went to the BBB and lost my complaint against them. Of course. DO NOT even get mixed up with this company. They are out for themselves and if you do decide to go with them and want to cancel in their 3 days timeframe, leave a message. I'd even call numerous times daily if they don't call back any time after noon time. Stay on top of it. Don't let them get you too!
