I am very disappointed in the delay this insurance company takes to process a claim
I am very disappointed in the delay this insurance company takes to process a claim. They have an excellent customer service staff but when it comes to processing claims they are horrible. I took my dog to a new vet on 2/9/22. I paid $250.00 for this visit and submitted a claim the next day. I didn't hear from them for days, I checked my account and there was no information so I called. They said they needed medical records. I called my dog's previous vet office and got the medical records and I submitted them, and the claim was declined a few days after. I called and they told me to open a new claim and add the medical records again. The person I spoke to saw and read the medical records and he couldn't understand why the claim was declined due to missing medical records. Today I see that the new claim has been cancel due to missing medial records. My dog has only been seen at *** since she was 2 months old. Then on February 2022 with the new vet. They told me they needed medical records for at least the prior 12 months and I provided medical record from 2018 to December . I am tired of calling and getting the same lame excuse. I don't have time for this, I can't call every time they decline my claims for the same reason when they have everything they need. They don't call or email, they just decline and close the claim. I will call them and cancel the insurance with them if they can't resolve this issue for me as soon as possible.

Good luck getting any claims paid! They continually pend them for one reason or another, if they don't deny them. Go back to the vets office multiple times constantly uploading revised invoices to explain one thing or another that they're questioining. Paid 1/2 of the least expensive claim out of 3-4 claims. Still waiting on others four months later. They stretch it out hoping you will get fed up and tired of their games and just forget about it. Please go with another insurance company! Forget this one!
This company is absolute garbage. I DO NOT RECOMMEND. This is not spam or a lie. Im a real person who has a dog insured with this company paid on time every month and got 0 service. My dog had a surgery in APRIL sent in all appropriate paper work they claim that it was a preexisting condition. When he has never been diagnosed with any condition of the such. He went in for a surgery for an issue that popped up for absolutely no reason. I appealed it had to wait 90 days for an answer. MIND YOU theres no one in claims to speak to, not even email. The email you never get a response its automated. Then when you speak to customer service all they say is we dont have that information you need to wait. So it 89th day today and I just got an answer on an appeal and they said they need more documents of history from the place my dog went for the surgery. The surgery is the only history he has at that animal hospital and they know that. They are still charging me $90 a month for 0 service. This place is a rip off. If this gets deleted I will continue to post it. If you are a current member I suggest you cancel it because when you need it itll be useless. If youre thinking about joining dont. Its full blown fraud what theyre doing. Get Outlook for iOS
Worst insurance experience ever. Our dog had a skin infection that we had treated. They tried to claim it was the same as an ear infection she had 9 months ago when we first adopted her stating it is a pre existing condition and not covered. Appealing it since it is obvious that a skin infection is different than an ear infection and now they want me to send in the last 2.5 years of medical records for her. We have only had her for 9 months and provided all the information we had when we adopted her. They will do anything possible not to cover any bills you have related to your pets health.
They are a scam! Every claim is denied and always placed under the "pre-existing" label for everything! Do not get their insurance!
AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS!
AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS! I have had insurance with Pets Best for my perfectly healthy purebred pup since I got her at 8 weeks. She is now 1yr 8mo and got a fractured tooth somehow, which turned into an infection. Fast forward multiple vet appointments, she had to get the tooth extracted of course, and they suggested 3 other teeth get pulled due to early stage peridontal disease that they noticed when they took X-rays for the infected/fractured molar. Dog got the surgery and I submitted the claim. Checked in 2 weeks later and they said they needed more info (***, glad I happened to check in). I emailed the additional records and invoice and didn't receive a response. Followed up a few days later double checking they received and still not response. A week later I get an automated response that included a forwarded email from a totally different customer (showing that customer's email address, claim # and policy #- yikes! So much for privacy!). I called again to check in after that email and they said claims take up to 40 days but they have everything they need.Well, today is day 40 so I called YET AGAIN. And alas, the claim was denied, because they needed a different file format, which I could've instantly provided had they communicated with me at all. Now I had to resubmit the invoice in PDF format for review, and in the meantime it's another 30 days to process the appeal. Here I am, still out $1700, with no end in sight. They ***. I signed up for Healthy Paws instead and heard the reimbursement process is much simpler and quicker. Here's hoping.

Listen to the reviews and AVOID. If you have a Bulldog, FULLY AVOID. Go to several review sites and read the claims process and their reviews. PetsBest will systematically deny as many claims as possible. The company might appear attractive with slightly lower monthly costs than a few of the competitors, but I can assure you, you WILL NOT SAVE any money with PetsBest. Pay special attention to the 14 day waiting period as if you have to go in for anything in that period, they will deny every claim you submit for the lifetime of the policy. Look into Embrace or Lemonade, MUCH BETTER, ethical, and fairer alternatives.
This is such a shady crappy pet insurance. I have submitted an appeal on a claim that I should not have to be appealing and it is taking absolutely forever. My dog was seen for a vaginitis diagnosis with yellowish drainage appearing out of nowhere. She HAPPENED to have shots there that day. OF COURSE they claimed it was wellness and not covered. Had to have my vet write a letter explaining. It is clear that they did not read the charges correctly and sure as heck should have been able to reopen and resolve immediately without all of this hassle. Everything takes FOREVER. i have YET to receive one single dime on anything turned in - one excuse after another. Please steer clear, believe the unbelievably bad reviews. They are horrible. PS currently waiting on a claim that was submitted and they didn't start processing until 8/10/22 when they received the information needed long ago. WTH
Theyll deny every claim and pay next to nothing. Save your cash! I canceled my services and they still continue to *** me despite confirming my my cancellation
Terrible experience. I signed up for the Accident Only Plan, which covers accidents/injures. My dog injured his eye, we suspect it was from running through the bushes. There was redness in his eye, so we brought him to the *** where the vet noticed a scratch on his sclera and performed a few tests to make sure everything was OK, and to confirm there was no foreign object still in there. My claim was denied based on the justification that this wasn't an "injury" but it was an "illness". I called to challenge the claim, since nothing about my this was due to an illness, from which they made me send them the medical records and doctor notes, which list reason for visit "trauma" and diagnosis as "trauma to eye". Once again they - PetsBest - rejected the claim due to "illness". I am now appealing this with even more documentation including a note from my vet that states this was an injury to his eye caused by trauma. This can only be a prime example of how this insurance company does everything they can to not payout. This was a very simple vet visit, with nothing that could suggest an "illness". I have provided more than enough documentation to suggest accident/trauma, which is covered, yet this provider still claims this is not covered. This is to warn others of the questionable practices for this provider. I strongly recommend not using them.

Would give 0 stars if possible
Would give 0 stars if possible. I brought my dog into the vet because he was limping after jumping from the couch & then upon further review from the x-rays, the radiologist noticed that he was developing arthritis. This was NOT the cause of the limping, as this was the first time I had ever heard of his condition- it was a secondary find AFTER I brought him in. Pets Best told me they would process the claim within 30 days. I called on day 35 after not hearing anything and then they told me they changed their timeline to 45 days...how convenient. They eventually denied the claim & then I started the appeal process, which they said would take up to an additional 90 days. I had multiple Vets that cared for my dog that day & after submit letters to Pets Best explaining that he was NOT brought in for or treated for arthritis, but Pets Best is to blinded to read what the professionals have to say. Finally heard back around the ~80th day, in which they still denied the appeal. The main cost of his visit was the x-ray, which again, was suggested by his vet because of his limp. Ultimately, he was completely fine & just needed rest. I cannot stress enough that he was NOT treated for arthritis, which is what Pets Best is arguing. I've included so many supplemental documents, I'm not sure how they're missing the boat with this one. If you care about your pet at all, I would never suggest letting them be insured by Pets Best- one of the worst companies I've ever worked with. This entire process has been going on for nearly 120 days- I cannot wait to switch insurances.

everything is considered a pre-existing condition at this pets bestDO NOT USE THEM ~I took my dog in just for a wellness exam that includes physical exam and blood work and they said its a pre-existing condition. How is this a pre-existing when its just a wellness exam? They stole my money legally and they will steal yours! Please save your money and go elsewhere. They are PetsWorst they will give you the worst stress and headaches ever so RUN AWAY FROM THEM!
Wonderful company! I have had 2 claims paid back quickly. Glad I purchased it when my dog was a puppy.
I've had Pets Best insurance for my golden retriever for about 2.5 years now, he's been covered since he was around 6 months old. Definitely recommend getting insurance asap - we fortunately didn't have any pre-existing conditions but I think a lot of the negative reviews are due to things that aren't covered due to pre-existing conditions (which is clearly stated in the policy, and unfortunately no pet insurance companies cover pre-existing conditions). Year 1 to 2 my premium did increase, and year 2 to 3 it stayed the same. Submitting claims is super easy with the app. My only suggestion would be an easy to way to see how close you are to reaching your deductible. My mother-in-law and sister-in-law both signed up their dogs for Pets Best because of my recommendation. I would recommend to anyone who has a new dog or a dog with no pre-existing conditions!
I felt as though I did a fair amount of research before deciding on Pets Best for my dog's health insurance and now wish I had found more
I felt as though I did a fair amount of research before deciding on Pets Best for my dog's health insurance and now wish I had found more reviews online before deciding. While PetsBest does a great job of advertising their policies and false claims regarding reimbursement, they don't recognize their inability to keep up with how many claims they receive. This company has been responding to comments and reviews online for months apologizing for how slow claims are being processed... so do something about it. When I signed up for my policy I was told that my claims would be processed in *** days *** I waited over a month (36 days to be exact) for my first claim to be processed and was given really lame excuses about how my vet hadn't sent over my dog's medical records in a timely fashion so they had to restart my wait period. When I spoke to my vet they informed me they had actually sent over her records THREE times and neither the vet nor myself received any confirmation. I'm now, yet again, am waiting up to 50 DAYS for my most recent claim to be processed. This is so completely unacceptable when you are dealing with expensive medical bills. I purchased pet insurance in order to avoid going into debt over vet bills but am due to the lack of competency of this company. While I would like to think PetsBest is just in a season of struggle, I now am realizing this company is a scam. They do a great job taking our expensive monthly payments on time- yet are unable to provide the services they promised when I enrolled and lack any kind of plan to better the operations going into 2020.

The kept saying they couldn't process my claim because they couldn't get medical records for my dog. I eventually called the vet myself and had them within 5 minutes. I uploaded them into the portal and they told me it's not what they needed. Even though it literally said "Medical Records" at the top, had appointment notes, and gave a detailed list of everything that was done. I sent in a cancelation on the day the last person I talked to told me I needed it. Conveniently, they couldn't find the fax. They did tell me I could submit my confirmation, but I tried explaining, efax just shows "unknown" for the recipient and when you click to see what is sent, it just shows the page. There was no where for them to see the number I sent it to. They eventually cancelled effective the following day I was talking to them, instead of backdating it 3 days. I expect an "I'm so sorry for this experience" response, but please don't believe them or waste your money. I paid for the insurance and never had a claim paid. I would have been better off burning that money.
Absolutely awful service. My brother UNEXPECTEDLY passed away recently so we called to inform the company we had taken over ownership of his dogs & needed to change the account over to our names + payment information. We were then told since we did not have paperwork stating our new ownership via him nor did we have power of attorney they would have to cancel the policy under his name immediately & we'd have to start a new policy. Then we asked if the preexisting issues that were covered under his policy {because he bought this shortly after adopting} if they would be covered. We were told no they would not. So anything having to do with his hips, kidneys & back would not be covered. They then told us this was because their policy changed. We have access to my brother's email as well as his Pets Best App where we found NOTHING in the policy stating needing a POA or paperwork being needed to transfer ownership to another person after someone passes in order to transfer the policy over. We have passed the policy onto our attorney whom will reach out to the company for breach of contract|malpractice & hopefully resolve the lies they have spewed by not honoring a policy when nothing could have prevented his death in the first place.
Pet's Best Insurance is, ironically, Pet's Worst Insurance Company. I adopted a 6-year-old rescue dog and insured him immediately. However, I encountered numerous obstacles when submitting claims. Every claim, including those for the 'Wellness Benefit,' was met with resistance. They informed me that processing claims would exceed 40 days. Once processed, I was required to obtain comprehensive veterinary records to demonstrate the legitimacy of the claims, yet they still refused to reimburse me. Obtaining coverage for routine 'flea and tick' medication, which was supposed to be included under the 'Wellness Benefit,' was an uphill battle. 'Deworming' was another contentious issue. The dog arrived with worms, and after treatment, they classified the condition as an illness, thereby denying the 'wellness' coverage for 'deworming.' It seemed illogical since deworming is typically necessary when worms are present. Dental care was another point of contention. The dog had periodontal disease, but they declined coverage, arguing that the condition predated my adoption. I count myself lucky that the dog was already neutered, as I suspect they would have found a reason to deny coverage for that procedure too, given their track record. Communicating with their customer service is an exercise in futility. I urge everyone to steer clear of Pet's Best Insurance.
They don't have enough employees to handle any customer service
They don't have enough employees to handle any customer service. They even turned features such as chat off because they cant handle the volume according to their website. The amount of time for claims processing is advertised as one thing and then they tell you it will take 2 to 3 times longer and then after you wait that you wait more. On top of that here's my experience I have a wellness and the illness plan my waiting period for wellness had passed but not the illness which I understand I took my dog into the Vet in order to have a yearly wellness exam and get his shots vaccinations et cetera During this time the vet Did send me home with some medicated wipes things like that because my dog is in English bulldog and they are prone to skin allergies et cetera allergies et cetera Again completely understandable they ended up splitting my claim into 2 separate claims one for wellness and 1 for illness I knew that the one for illness would be denied because it wasn't after the waitingperiod. However my issue Was not only did it take an extensive amount of time to process my claim but when my claim was processed and I got my EOB which is explanation of benefits Noticed that my wellness exam again I have the wellness plan but my wellness exam was put under my illness claim therefore denied the examination That is clearly stated wellness exam. The wellness plan also covers certain testing In which they also put on my illness claim because the Vet tested my dog's earwax to check for an infection which the results for that test came back negative.since the initial claim has been so difficult im not sure how the process of fixing it will be but I definately think im going to look into alternative companies because this is absolutely stressful and I feel as if they are not keeping their end of the service they are supposed to be providing.
DO NOT purchase a policy with this company
DO NOT purchase a policy with this company. We rescued a senior dog on July 17 and, as a condition of the adoption, needed to bring him in for a routine wellness check within 1 week of adoption. The primary reason we selected Pets Best over other insurance providers is that the wellness policy was effective immediately, whereas other insurance providers did not offer this option. Our wellness policy began on July 21 and the routine checkup was on July 23. During the wellness check up, our vet noticed symptoms of a respiratory issue. Since that respiratory issue was diagnosed prior to the end of the insurance waiting period, Pets Best denied all treatment related to the wellness check, and any subsequent treatment thereafter. Pets Best tricks its customers into using the wellness policy during the waiting period of the insurance policy knowing that anything that a vet uncovers during a wellness check triggers a loophole allowing them to avoid payment. This should be made as a disclaimer before a customer purchases a policy with Pets Best. Likewise, the wellness policy should have the same waiting period as the insurance policy. Customers should have the right to know this in advance when evaluating all insurance policy options. Overall, Pets Best has covered only $195 of over $3,000 in vet bills, even though our annual deductible was only $500. While our monthly premium of $130 was reasonable based on the breed and age of our senior dog, it is completely unethical for the company to lock us into an annual policy that doesn't cover anything. Over the course of the year, Pets Best pocketed over $1,500 in monthly payments and left us paying the vet bills out of pocket. *** is impossible to reach by phone and their online chat service is horrible. Save your money, or purchase a policy with a more reputable company like ASPCA.
The signup process for this pet insurance was easy and when I called to cancel my policy to switch insurance companies, I was quickly directed
The signup process for this pet insurance was easy and when I called to cancel my policy to switch insurance companies, I was quickly directed to customer service.Let's talk about why I wanted to switch companies. I was notified on my renewal date (8/10) that my annual payment didn't go through for the next year. It didn't go through because my credit card had recently been lost and cancelled. This prompted me to shop around for another insurance company before I gave PetsBest different credit card info. I did find a better option through a competitor. (At PetsBest I could only have coverage up to $5,000 and at a competitor I could have $15,000, which was more appealing to me.)Unfortunately, when I called to cancel the policy I was told I would be charged $2.91 for coverage between my renewal date (8/10) and the date of cancellation (8/15). I told them I didn't think I should be paying a fee since my policy never actually renewed on 8/10 and I didn't file a claim during this time. The customer service rep nicely explained that coverage still existed even though the payment wasn't processed on 8/10. I thought this was a bit of scummy. Why hassle me for $2.91 when I clearly was not using, didn't agree to use, and didn't pay to use their services after my renewal date? It is nice that coverage doesn't lapse for people who still want the insurance, but have issues with their automatic renewal payment being processed. But why force coverage onto someone whose non-renewal is intentional?I kindly but firmly explained my position to the customer service rep, but she was also kind and firm that the $2.91 had to be paid. I explained that I would not pay fee and thought to myself, "Good luck getting payment since you don't have my credit card info LOL!"Giving 3 stars since everyone I spoke to was nice, cancellation was easy, but coverage options were not flexible enough for me and they're being *** over $2.91.

Absolutely the WORST
Absolutely the WORST. I am completely taken back how PB can maintain that it has an A+ rating when their score is 1.15/5 (at the time of writing this review). I tried pets best with my pup as soon as she came home and I've had literally nothing good happen... except for them charging me. Now, I'm well past their "30 day full refund promise" and i have literally nothing to show for anything. My pup has had her eyes tacked and now has a "preexisting condition" so I think i'm stuck with them. I currently have 4 outstanding claims with them, ranging from 4/20 to more recent... and they're still al listed as "received" with no status. two of them show as "waiting on vet info." even though i attached the vet info and called my vets office to verify if they've received any requests... they havent... PB isn't waiting on anything... I understand that the standard processing time is 30 days or longer (understandably) for wellness claims... However, this is just embarrassing. I keep getting auto-generated emails saying "oh so sorry this is taking longer than usual!" but literally nothing has changed. PB claims they have hired more staff, the ComplaintsBoard.com banner claims that they're working on resolving the issue (that was a year ago...pandemic or not, get your people set up remotely like the rest of us). Most of us out there have to pull money out of savings, borrow, or put things on credit... in hopes that we'll receive that money back in a reasonable time period. PB (as a company) doesn't seem to care that we need our reimbursements, as long as they keep fleecing people out of their monthly premiums. They've also turned off their comments on their instagram, and i'm almost sure that they're spending more time deleting FB comments. their *** feed is nothing but "contact our customer care line! we're so sorry!" but literally nothing happens. if you are considering petsbest, STAY FAR FAR FAR AWAY. I regret every second of this and the moment all of my claims are processed, i'm out.
AVOID! DO NOT SELECT THIS COMPANY IF YOU ARE IN THE MARKET FOR PET INSURANCE
AVOID! DO NOT SELECT THIS COMPANY IF YOU ARE IN THE MARKET FOR PET INSURANCE. I SUBMITTED MY CLAIM 29 ***S AGO. ABSOLUTELY NO PROGRESS SINCE AND THE ONLY TIME I EVER GET AN UPDATE IS IF I CALL. THE ONLY UPDATE YOU GET IS THAT THEY'VE RECEIVED THE CLAIM AND ARE ALREADY PROCESSING IT. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? I EVEN SECURED THE MEDICAL RECORDS AND ANY OTHER INFORMATION THEY NEED TO HELP MOVE THIS FORWARD AND I HAVE YET TO SEE ANY MOVEMENT AFTER ALL OF THIS TIME. EVERY TIME I CALL I AM ON HOLD FOR *** MINUTES (MINIMUM) BEFORE BEING GIVEN THE SAME NON-SENSE RUN AROUND. AS A MATTER OF FACT THE MOST RECENT CUSTOMER SERVICE REP *** A TOTAL CURVEBALL BY TELLING ME IT IS ***S FROM THE *** WE RECEIVE YOUR MEDICAL RECORDS (9/30). THANK GOODNESS I SECURED THE MEDICAL RECORDS OUT OF PURE FRUSTRATION. THEY HAVE PUT 0 EFFORT TO GET THE RECORDS OR SERVICE MY ACCOUNT FOR ANYTHING! IMAGINE IF I DIDN'T GET IT FOR THE RECORDS, THEN WHAT? HAVE A VOICEMAIL THAT THEY LEFT THAT SAYS MY CLAIM WOULD BE COMPLETED WITHIN *** CALLED AGAIN TO*** (29TH ***) AND THEY HAVE NO ESTIMATION AS TO HOW MUCH LONGER THIS WILL TAKE. THEY'VE DONE NOTHING FOR ME. THEY ACTUALLY TOLD ME THAT THEY RANDOMLY PULL CASES TO WORK ON. HMMMM. INTERESTING. I DON'T KNOW WHO IS POSTING THESE POSITIVE POSTS. MY GUESS WOULD BE THAT THEY ARE HAVING THEIR OWN EMPLOYEES SUBMIT THEM TO SAVE WHATEVER REPUTATION THEY HAVE LEFT! I TRULY REGRET EVER GOING WITH PETS BEST AND NOW THAT MY DOG HAS AN MPL/ACL INJURY I CANNOT LEAVE SINCE IT WOULD NOW BE A PRE-EXISTING CONDITION. SHE NEEDS SURGERY AND THEY'RE SITTING THERE TAKING THE SWEET TIME PROCESSING CLAIMS. BUYER BEWARE! THIS COMPANY IS ABSOLUTELY AWFUL. I HAVE FRIENDS AND FAMILY WITH DIFFERENT CARRIERS AND THEY PROCESS CLAIMS IN ***S, NOT 6 WEEKS! AND THAT SEEMS TO BE ON THE BETTER SIDE FOR PETS BEST. WHAT A JOKE! THIS WILL ONLY BE THE BEGINNING OF MY POSTS TO MAKE CUSTOMERS AWARE. I'M ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTED. IF YOU CHOOSE THEM, JUST REMEMBER THIS POST AND THAT I TOLD YOU SO!

Well, as a 'newer' customer I thought I had to give a review of my first two months' worth of service
Well, as a 'newer' customer I thought I had to give a review of my first two months' worth of service. First, as for claims response the term sporadic comes to mind. We have a puppy so have made 3 or 4 separate claims for shots/wellness/etc. One claim took what I consider a long time to pay (submitted 23 June, paid 15 July (22days), the second claim was paid very quickly (submitted 20 July and paid on the 24th of July (4days), the third claim was submitted on August 4th and as of today, August 24th (20days), it is still showing 'received'. Another claim was just submitted a couple of days ago...so we will see what happens on that one. In my world anytime a claim 'sits' and not reviewed or paid for more than *** days it is pushing the extreme. All companies expect premiums to be paid quickly...and I don't appreciate the ones that seemingly drag out payments due to me. In fairness, when they did pay it seemed to be what I should have received. Secondly, correspondence with this company is practically non-existent...and in fact is my biggest complaint so far. I have tried using the 'chat' feature multiple times only to be advised that due to overwhelming blah, blah the feature is disabled and to instead email them. I did indeed email them a couple of times as instructed and to date I am still waiting on a reply (first email sent a month or so ago followed by another a few days ago). As for calling them, forget it! I don't have time to stay on hold for 30+ minutes. I just wish they would handle current customers as quickly as I am sure they will undoubtedly post something in reply to this comment defending the positions of the company (overwhelming interest, Covid-19, etc). In fact a 'not so good' review might be the best/quickest way to get in contact with them!Overall I am not as impressed with this company as I was hoping I would be and although I am still a customer I will probably look around upon expiration of my policy for another insurance company that perhaps provides a bit better customer service.

If you're unwilling to spend much to save your dog, stop reading now
If you're unwilling to spend much to save your dog, stop reading now. We brought our 8-year-old shepherd mix to the vet for a check-up and discovered a cancerous lump on her thyroid. Our dog was an integral part of our family, and we'd do anything to save her. We're not rich, but we could afford a few thousand dollars for her treatment. We had pet insurance from Pets Best, which was a blessing. After treating her thyroid cancer, they found a heart mass. In a few months, she underwent thyroid removal, heart surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy. The first bill was over $10,000, and we paid upfront. We submitted our claim to Pets Best, skeptical about pet insurance as it was our first time. They needed to verify the cancer wasn't pre-existing. Did they pay? After over 40 days at the vet in two and a half years, she remained cancer-free. In May, she was diagnosed with a spinal disease, and by July, she lost her final battle. Writing this brings tears to my eyes, and I've always been tough. Pets Best was supportive until the end. They may be slow to pay, but they do pay. Her medical expenses exceeded $30,000, and Pets Best covered most of it. I highly recommend Pets Best. Do your pets a favor and get them insured.
Don't waste your money!
Don't waste your money! I thought I was doing a good thing when I purchased a policy for my new dog through Pets Best. They partnered with Progressive so I thought I could trust them to be a decent company since I've had positive experiences with Progressive for years. I couldn't be more wrong. They took my money without a problem but if you need to contact them for any reason, you better make sure to set half your day aside. I needed to change my dog's weight on the policy (something small and meaningless) so I tried to reach out to them through their live chat thinking I could get it taken care of quickly without tying up their phone lines. WRONG! After having me wait for a representative for 10 minutes, I was encouraged to send an email. I sent my simple inquiry as an email and never heard back. That's when the red flags started waiving - if they couldn't answer a simple email with a small request, how could I trust them to be a decent company when I really needed them? Nevertheless, I stuck with them - trusting that they were a reputable company. I submitted my first claim and was given a five-day processing estimate only to have it get stuck in the "Received" stage for weeks. I thought, "It's no big deal, COVID is probably slowing them down". I submitted a second claim a few weeks after my first claim and they requested medical records from my vet. My vet sent the medical records over and they copied me. Thank God I was copied because I was able to quickly hop on the phone and be placed on an hour-long hold with customer service when they emailed three days later saying that they've requested records multiple times and haven't heard anything back. *** confirmed that they actually did have everything they needed - including the medical records. Anyways, both of my claims finally processed... it took a full month just to be denied. I want to cancel my policy, I just need to make sure I have plenty of energy to get through their hold times first. Pets Best doesn't even deserve one star - I wish I had read their ComplaintsBoard.com reviews (and Pets Best snarky responses) before signing up because I could be $132 richer. Don't make the same mistake I did... stay away from Pets Best - your wallet and your heart rate will thank you.

I'm convinced all these 5 star reviews are fake
I'm convinced all these 5 star reviews are fake. This company has denied all but one claim by trying to say it was a preexisting condition. They will label ANYTHING they can as a preexisting condition just so they won't pay it. They literally told me "A lot of people get denied."The first claim they denied is because they said that "the vet used the exact same medication to treat a UTI previously so your claim is denied now because he has a stress induced cystitis flair up."The UTI was treated with an antibiotic and a pain killer. The cystitis a month later was treated with a pain killer so they called it the same. The vet even noted in their medical record the second one was due to stress. I let that go but I shouldn't have. A few months later, out of the blue, my same cat got blocked and I had to rush him to the vet. They found it was just a mucus plug. They flushed it out and had him stay in the hospital for 3 days. They prescribed him Prazosin just in case for when he went home. PRAZOSIN IS COVERED IN PETS' BESTS OWN LIST OF MEDICATIONS - NO WHERE DOES IT SAY ON YOUR PAPERWORK THAT A NEW MEDICATION WILL BE DENIED FOR BEING RELATED FOR A SUPPOSED PRE-EXISTING CONDITION.*** My cat has never taken this medication before! This all came to about $1780. I paid $800 to the vet up front to the do the procedure and the prescription, and the vet filled out a reimbursement form for the balance because THE VET said "He had not be hospitalized before, nor had a plug before so they shouldn't have a problem reimbursing this."It took over 30 days for any of these claims to be looked at.LO AND BEHOLD, TODAY, EVERYTHING WAS DENIED. They told me it was a preexisting condition all because it related to the same body part. Yes. First they tell me it's because the medication was the same, now they're telling me it's because it's the same body part. Then they tell me if I want to dispute it, it'll take AN ADDITIONAL 60 DAYS TO BE REVIEWED. YES, 90 DAYS TO GET A YES OR NO. Meanwhile you're expected to make monthly payments and pay the vet because they will not wait long for their money. THEIR WEBSITE STRAIGHT UP LIES ABOUT PROCESSING TIMES!DON'T END UP LIKE ME! I'M POSTING MY REVIEW EVERYWHERE SO PEOPLE CAN SEE. I'VE COMPLETELY WASTED MY TIME AND MONEY ON THIS COMPANY.

Although most people seem to have had a good experience with Pets Best insurance, I was financially and emotionally devastated by their lack of support, compassion, and empathy for me and my dog. I signed my dog up for Pets Best insurance after a dear friend of mine recommended them to me based on her positive experiences. My dog was approaching 7.5 years old and had no current health issues, so I thought it best to sign her up before she developed any. My dog presented with lameness during the waiting period, and it was unclear to me and my veterinarian what the cause was and there was not a known diagnosis (muscle injury, sprain, etc.). About three months after the waiting period ended, my dog was diagnosed with osteosarcoma (bone cancer) and was recommended to undergo chemotherapy and an amputation of the diseased limb, which would have given her another year of life as opposed to two months (without treatment). I thought to myself, thank goodness I purchased pet insurance! Actually, I have no one to thank and definitely NOT Pets Best. Pets Best settled that my dogs lameness was due to the cancer, which they labeled as a pre-existing condition, even though my veterinarian records revealed NO EVIDENCE of a cancer diagnosis BEFORE or DURING the policy waiting period. Pets Best even had the veterinarian records to prove that there was no evidence of a pre-existing cancer diagnosis. Therefore, I would be stuck paying for all medical costs IN FULL. The limb amputation alone would have cost me $2,500 and chemotherapy would have been $400 per session. My dog needed at least weekly chemotherapy which meant that I would be paying, out-of-pocket, $1,600 per month, or $19,200 PER YEAR, JUST FOR CHEMOTHERAPY. That is half of my net salary! I am a mental health professional working in the non-profit sector, so this was a HUGE burden on my heart and my finances. Thanks to Pets Bests fair judgment (sarcasm), I had to make the heart-wrenching decision to euthanize my beautiful dog because I could not afford her care. My dog had a healthy medical record! Pets Best discriminated unfairly against my dog without full consideration. My judgment is that Pets Best is neither concerned for their well-being or for that of their customers. They will find any way that they can to NOT pay for your pets medical treatments. I will NEVER recommend Pets Best to anyone! I will not trust Pets Best as an insurer for my pet, never again!

I thought Pet Insurance would be a good idea after I had to pay $6K for one of my three dogs to have his Gall Bladder removed, so I investigated pet insurance and I chose Pets Best partly because they would cover my 14-year-old schnoodle and partly because their prices were good for the coverage. I paid the premiums for about a year for my three dogs which amounted to about a $1K. I felt good thinking I would be covered if he needed any big expensive surgeries. My schnoodle suddenly got sick and was dying, and I took him to the emergency vet and sure enough they said he needed his Gall Bladder removed. I said go ahead thinking I was covered. Well I was SO relieved that my little dog made it through the surgery and recovered and the *** came to over $6K again. I turned this claim along with 12 other smaller claims thinking I would at least be partially reimbursed for the expenses. It took Pets Best about 40 days to finally settle the claims and I spent hours submitting the claims and resubmitting them every few days. I started looking through the claims and they didn't pay me one cent for any of my claims. Let me warn you Pet Insurance is NOT like our medical insurance it is a "scam". They have loopholes to get out of paying almost any claim you can think of because they exclude pre-existing conditions. If you think about it almost every dog or cat over 10 years of age is going to have a pre-existing condition. Only young dogs are not going to have a pre-existing condition, and then they are probably not going to have any medical problems anyway. The only way they can't weasel out of paying a claim is if your dog swallows a bone, gets hit by a car or jumps off a table and breaks his leg. In other words a freak accident that is not likely to happen like an illness. They ask your veterinarian to send in medical records, but it is not YOUR vet that makes the decision if the condition was pre-existing it is their vets so guess what they are going to decide! Everything CAN be considered pre-existing. Having this Pets Best insurance caused me a lot of stress, and it was a big relief when I cancelled it because I know that unless my dog swallows a ball or gets run over I am never going to get any money out of Pets Best. Save your money and put it in a savings account for your dogs medical expenses because pet insurance is not ready for prime time. With our insurance *** made it illegal to not cover pre-existing conditions but with pet insurance they use this exclusion to get out paying 95% of the claims they receive. Also, Pets Best is next to impossible to get in touch with by phone or email, and they never answer your emails. It is a shame that they are allowed to continue in business with all the complaints against them. I am an honest person and this review is exactly what happened to me. Luckily I only had Pets Best for a year so I didn't lose thousands of dollars in premiums so please reconsider if you are considering pet insurance. You WILL be sorry as I was.

Pet insurance
To Whom It May Concern,
I paid for insurance from my dog and when I begin to utilize the insurance and submit claims to be reimbursed Pet's Best has been giving me the run round and delaying my claims. I have called and called and they keep telling me they can't let me speak to a manager, they don't have another number for me to call I just have to wait. My first claim was filed in February 2023. I have been consistently waiting on them. I have gotten to no where talking to an account manager named "Betty", she just keeps telling me she can't assist me and I just have to wait. Meanwhile I have 4 claims (same condition with my dog) that I am not being reimbursed for. My name is Tiffany Blackman and any assistance you could provide would be appreciated. My phone number is [protected] and email address is [protected]@gmail.com.
Desired outcome: I'd like my claims to be processed and reimbursed as contracted per the policy.
