Consumer Portfolio Services Auto loan

Missed a couple payments while the pos car was in the shop for a year months after purchasing. Had received a text payment was due and willing to work with me. I reply payment would been made in 2 days. Next day my car was repo'd and caused me to miss saying goodbye to a dying family member. I called and spoke to an agent and they were extremely rude! Only way they've ever been willing to work with me is demand immediate payment or take the car. Days later I get a certified letter stating to reinstate loan they require $2141. Note this does not include the towing and storage fees needed to get the car back, which isn't even worth $4000. Payments made during the time I had the car went purely to interest and not principal. Take advantage of those needing a car and rip them off is what this company does.

Consumer Portfolio Services Auto

This is a cracked company a friend of mine is being ripped off so badly that she missed three 350 dollar car payments and somehow she owes over 2000 dollars. So lucky Monica has a friend like me and my uncle is the attorney General of Ohio. So what I'm doing is filing this so the company sees and I'm sure they will know what Monica I'm talking about when I put amount and state. So if they do not try to make something right and fix something I'm taking it all to my uncle. Then I'm filing a suit with the better business bureau with the backing of a few amazing attorneys who have been wanting tk take these crooks down before. Then just to make sure everybody t knows not to use you and all the influence I create all over America I will make sure your rate for every rate app is 1 star and I will create a blog and YouTube channel about it.

Desired outcome: Make they crooked things they do in auto right

I'm having the same issue with this company. Also located in Ohio. My payments weren't even 3 consecutive months behind. Told them on a Monday payment would been made that Thursday. Tuesday afternoon they towed my car away. Payments were $327, they want over $2100 to reinstate the loan. Gave me 20 days but per my credit report my account has been closed and isn't showing this debt. They best not try and come after me for the loan.

Consumer Portfolio Services Customer Service Installment Account of Three Years

I GIVE THEM A BIG FAT ZERO! There is NO WORSE company/ business out there! CONSUMERS BEWARE!

In my 55 years of existence and a close second is CenturyLink! But I digress and will focus on Consumer Portfolio Services! I have paid off four cars and NEVER been treated so horrible! After contracting covid back in October 2021 I fell behind in a car payment! After calling to work out something as I have been paying on this account for three years before Covid ever hit, and thinking something could be worked out. After all I had severe pneumonia complications as I am disabled veteran and to date I am still under Department of Veterans Affairs medical care for it. I was lectured on how I was to spend the stimulus checks the federal government was giving! That’s right folks! Never mind the economy is shot, covid is affecting millions, people everywhere can’t work, lost their job, waiting on backlogs of unemployment claims! But this business is going to tell you how to spend your stimulus checks when I dare say everybody in the nation right now is running 30 days behind trying to BUY FOOD & GAS these days! They Harass you, family and friends over being 30 days or less behind! It is not worth it! I just got off the phone with them blasting them as I traded my vehicle in July to get away from this police state led business that dictates the consumers! The dealer called them last month requesting a payoff amount to close account and all was agreed I brought my new car home in July and my credit report was in great standing even running behind 30 days with aforementioned disaster company. Today, when I checked my report my credit score dropped 30 points because CPS reported even after dealer paying them off for my new car! They informed me I had to make another payment on my now closed account! I told them they were severely mistaken because after dealer calls them for payoff I am no longer in the picture! They are the most unprofessional, demeaning bunch of liars I have ever done business with!

‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️DON’T DO IT MY FELLOW AMERICANS! BEWARE!

Desired outcome: PAID OFF ACCOUNT!!! 💥💥💥💥WARNING CONUMERS!!!💥💥💥💥

Consumer Portfolio Services Odometer rollback, Open title, car value, no carfax, terrible terrible

I have the contract car fax the documents showing the miles of what is on the car and the shops who seen this car over 10 times and spoke with them who said that the mileage when they had the car was well over what is on the car when it was sold to me. And there was no mistake in putting the mileage on Carfax. I reached out to the finance company and they're telling me they're trying to get the mileage adjusted to the mileage that's on the odometer and I said that is not correct I said you can't just do that I have proof showing what was on the car and that this car was used as a limo. From the transmission shop Amco that seen this car many many times in Tire Kingdom and everything is documented not one but six to 10 times that the mileage is wrong. When I contacted the DMV because the dealership doesn't want to work with me now that they are involved. So basically my car that is valued at around 17-18 thousand now in reality with over 200,000 miles on it is maybe worth 3500. I cant seem to get anywhere with just the employees iam trying to speak with somebody higher up who cares about there customers and not jus the bottom line, this is a investment for both of us and i would like this matter resolved i have a vehicle that has constant issues.

Consumer Portfolio Services Car loan reps

Horrible Loan company. I've never experienced a company that starts harassment 1-2 days of a past due payment. First they send texts, then phone calls and next emails with all Capitol letters. So unprofessional. If you try to make an arrangement with them, they question you like you are an imbecile. If you break up your payment they hound you like they are squeezing blood from you. This behavior is very reprehensible.

Desired outcome: Stop harassment

Consumer Portfolio Services Auto loan recovery department

Consumer Portfolio Services Inc. calls me more than 3 times in a day. Even after payment has been confirmed to be sent and speaking to representative of next following payment. Had caught up with my payments before this pandemic and had days off work because of Corona virus symptoms. Doctor diagnose me with Influenza virus and I did notify this company, but was told they could not make in arrangements or extension for me. Consumer Portfolio Services Inc continued with harassment calls while I was trying to get better. All I could state is my plan was to do overtime as soon as I could get better. This company has called family member to share information of my account with her by cellphone and calling her job on a recorded line regarding information regarding my account. Placing another party job in jeopardy that is not the account holder. Destinee Hall number is registered with the DNC registry and has asked this company to stop calling her and they continued to call from [protected] and [protected]. This company states that they are documenting the account, but continual to pursue bad practices.

I paid off my loan over 8 years ago but today they suddenly start harassing me for $1289 they claim I owe in unpaid interest! According to the lying and abusive rep I spoke to 8 years ago there was still $12 unpaid and after they added their interest it's now $1289 lol.

There's just two things wrong with this claim $12 plus interest and costs after 8 years would not equal the sum they are demanding and as the debt is over 7 years old they are not supposed to be able to collect it either.

When I told their rep this he got very abusive and threatened legal action unless I paid immediately and then when I asked for written confirmation he told me "what the F*** you expect us to prove what you know you owe us!" When I pointed out the fact that when I had agreed to his end of the conversation being recorded I had done the same on my end he hung up.

Please people do NOT trust these people as they lie and threaten to try to get you to pay money you probably don't owe.

Consumer Portfolio Services Loans and Repossession

My boyfriend and I originally went in for a loan for a Chevy Silverado Z71. When the loan was approved it was for to much so we denied the loan. At that point the Sales Rep put through the loan for a lesser amount on the same truck. All of this took about a week to get done. We then drove the truck home and thought everything was going to be ok. Within 30 days we paid our first payment but then my boyfriend received a collection call from a rep at CPS stating we had made no payment on the account and we needed to make a payment immediately. I called them back to discuss this since our payment had already been made and discovered they had two loans out on us for the same truck .The payment was made to the wrong loan and so the other loan was already in default. After many phone calls and faxes I was under the impression that we had everything all straightened out. This is two months out and we still have no title for the truck to get legal tags. We contacted the dealer and CPS who informed us that the title had not yet been sent to CPS or filed into our name. We made another payment and continued to wait. At month four we had made multiple payments and still received no title for the truck. We contacted a lawyer at this point because we again began receiving collection calls from CPS, We informed them that we would not be making any more payments on the truck until we received the title so we could actually drive it. We were told that if we did not make a payment they would come get the truck we informed them that we would be contacting a lawyer.

Shortly after contacting the lawyer CPS contacted us and told us the title was on the way to us and to give them another call the following day. The next day when we were supposed to call them back there was a repo truck in our front yard trying to pick up our truck but instead was loading up our car that was owned outright and had never had a loan on it. While on the phone with my lawyer my boyfriend was confronting the Repo agent who informed us that he was told by CPS to drag the truck out of the side of the carport, which would have torn the carport down (keeping in mind they did not have a legal repo order nor could the driver produce an order for repo) or remove the car that was parked behind it. At this point I contacted the local authorities and made a report and proceeded with the lawsuit. We were able to go to the DMV and get a white copy of the title that was in my name but the loan was in both of our name. They were still processing off of the first loan that was only in my name and should not have existed because I never signed anything for the first loan. We never took possession of the vehicle under the first loan.

CPS admitted fault with the loans and offered to delete the first loan which was an illegal loan to begin with. My lawyer advised them that this was credit fraud especially since the both loans were listed on my credit report but the first was never signed for. They went ahead and settled with us out of court and we sued the repo company for their illegal actions as well but found out the repo company was owned by CPS. Imagine that. The agreement that CPS made with us to settle has still not been paid. We have been in court three times for contempt on an agreement that they made to us. We are still waiting on our money and we no longer have the truck. So I made payments on a truck and no longer have the truck nor did I get my payments back and they still haven't fulfilled their agreement to settle. At this point we are seeking additional legal action to attempt to freeze their accounts to take our money since they do not seem to want to pay. This all being said I suggest anyone that wants to take out a loan with CPS please be aware and cautious to what kind of company they are and what you are getting into I would rather walk to work then deal with the stress and anguish. What started out to be a simple purchase has been nothing but drama and stress to our family. ... four months later we are still waiting for our money.

CPS was fined 5.5 million back in May this year for their deceptive and aggressive tactics. Also they now have to for the next 7 years maintain full records of their calls etc. So I would speak to your attorney about this. You can find the full judgement here http://www.consumerportfolio.com/PDF/Fully%20Executed%20and%20Stamped%20Consent%20Order.pdf

Hope this helps you.

Consumer Portfolio Services Worst lender there is

This is the single worst company I have ever dealt with. I original purchased an the dealership used this company to secure the loan. I understood my credit was not the greatest at the time and I accepted the high interest rate and monthly payments for the vehicle. The loan itself was less than desirable but I accepted it and knew what I signed in to so that is not the problem.

I had the loan about 2 years. Everything went smoothly for the most part. I paid my monthly as expected and they received it as expected. Everything worked smoothly. The issue arose a month ago. I moved from where I was living and had a change in daycare for my son. My auto payment was due the 17'th of the month. The changes move it so rent and daycare came out the 15'th of the month. Due to having most of my bills all off the same paycheck now I decided to call CPS and do a one time due date change. I had them change my due date to the 2n'd of every month. That allowed me to split some payments up on 2 different paychecks like before. I called a week before my next payment was due. I was advised that in order to change the due date they would need that payment made. I said I would call back Friday when I got paid and do it. The representative instead said I would need to provide her my checking/routing number as a post dated check. This would allow the change of my due date. I gave her my check information and post dated it for Friday. A few days later (on Friday) I get a call from the same representative (Her name was Danielle Anderson). She tells me she needs to do a payment by phone with a debit card. She said the check by phone will take an extra 3-4 days by phone to clear. This could cause an issue since it would not clear until after my due date that same day. She assured me the check had already been cancelled and would not go through. She said it was confirmed with her Check Delete department and everything. I recorded this phone call as well. She took my debit information and all was fine. It showed up right away out of my checking account.

Monday I checked my account and I was negative several hundred dollars with about $200 of those being NSF fee's. They took out 2 payments (over $650 total) which put me in the negative. This was a problem because I have been planning my 5 year old sons birthday party for that coming weekend. I called CPS first and also recorded this phone call. Danielle admitted to the mistake but said there was nothing she could do. She said she will pass it on to her manager but she advised it's their policy NOT to refund NSF fee's even on issues that are their fault. Not once did she apologize. Instead, when I advised her of the checks for deposits I wrote for my sons birthday party I was laughed at and told "well that's not our problem sir"

4 days went by with me calling in. Danielle refused to pick up my call and never once after that returned any of my many Voicemails. Finally another representative called me on Friday and told me they notice the error that was made on their end. I was advised that unfortunately they will not be able to refund me my money or refund me the NSF fee's. They said it is CPS policy that they will not refund extra payments even if the payment was a mistake on the representatives part. I was told that CPS is not in the business if giving money back they are a company created for taking money.

I ended up going to my bank and filing a dispute. My bank favored on my side and gave me my money back and waived off the NSF fee's so in the end it worked out in my favor only thanks to my actual bank.

The only response I ever received from them after this was a letter stating "In a show good faith we waived the $14 charge from your account for your duplicate payment being returned" because I disputed that payment and it ended up getting returned even after it had shown as cleared. Their good faith was that normally they'd charge me a fee because of their mistake of taking a duplicate paying was being returned. But this time they would waive the fee off to show a hand of good faith... That alone is how bad this company is.

The problem CPS fails to understand is that sure, Most all of your customers have bad credit. That doesn't make a person bad though. They should not be treated worse or differently. CPS treats all of it's customers like dead beats even when they are not. The other issue CPS fails to realize is that not all borrowers stay having bad credit. 2 weeks after this incident I proceeded to pay off my entire auto loan 3 years early and took my loan to a different bank. I would not wish CPS to be the lender for my worst enemy that is how horrible this company and their representatives are.

Consumer Portfolio Services Customer Service Reps

Consumer Portfolio Services has the worst customer service. Their Reps are not efficient or accurate about information. First, there was an error in communication regarding payments towards a car loan. Second, they sent Nationwide Recovery Service to pick up the vehicle at 10pm to my home which I was completely irate about. Lastly, the manager Robin ext.5620 could not provide a FedEx tracking number to me when supposedly the car key was mailed back to my mother the day before. I will be making a complaint to BBB.

Consumer Portfolio Services Customer Services Reps

This company is literally the worst company to have an auto loan through, ever! Anytime you have the unfortunate experience of needing to speak with a customer service representative, it is promised to be theist unprofessional experience ever. This company lost obviously does not train their call center representatives, beyond the fact that they are blatently unprofessional, barely speak literate English, and have NO idea what they are taking about -- they are plain RUDE. The last person to call me, left a 4 minute message, half of which, she was speaking to another person in the room about her nails. Calling there is a nightmare, they pass you around and absolutely will not give consistent information. I understand they are a secondary lender, for people with less than perfect credit, but this does not excuse poor customer service.

Just so you know these people use alias names and that is Illegal and if any agent or person calls your home after 9pm central time or say they are a repo agent they are not allowed to do that it is called fraud . the office in westchester il is ran by Andre Gamblin and he is responsible for any late clls you may get he gives permission to his employees to do this there main office is in Irvine California, Andre Gamblin is very unprofressional. and very sneaky. yes of course you have to pay your loan. but if they Tell you your car is out for repo ask for the name of the repo agent and written proof of the order. if they tell you your car is out for repo and it really isn;t the are committing fraud. so always get proof. Remember no calls after 9pm it is completely illegal by anyone.

Consumer Portfolio Services Overall bad company

I need to share this with anyone who is thinking about working with this company. I filed for bankruptcy a few yrs back and needed to get a van that I could retrofit for my handicapped child. Well about a yr into my loan I lost my job. I made several attempts to work with them for the missed payments. They would not work with me. So finally after all their harassing phone calls I told them to come and get the car.
Two yrs later they are still harassing me for the unpaid balance and threatening to sue me. I have been told I was lying about my child being deaf and blind, and in a wheelchair along with all of this other medical problems.
But of course they deny it was ever said.

This was my most recent conversation as of to day,
On June 20that approximately 3:30 p.m., I contacted Consumer Portfolio Services (CPS) and spoke to Hedi Garcia. I had to yell at her to give me her supervisor. I attempted to again make a settlement offer less then what they would take. He finally agreed to take a settlement but would not send me a settlement letter until I gave him a post dated check with my checking account info. When I told him I did not have an account but would send by western union or cashiers check the next day, I was told because I did not have a checking account they would not take a settlement but instead i would have to pay a $1000 MORE .
The manager stated he would talk to someone placed me on hold then came back stating after reviewing my account CPS would not be able to provide a settlement.
When asked why I was not able to receive a settlement offer letter before sending money I was told it would be a waste of time and money and how did he have a guarantee that I would send the money anyway. I was then told CPS would not send a settlement letter without my checking account information given 1st. When I asked to speak to his supervisor (the decision maker) I was hung up on.
Plus they have been treating to sue me for the last 1 1/2.
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.
I know they where just trying to get access to my checking account so they could take what they wanted. Plus when I questioned him about it I was told it was illegal to do that Yah right I have read so many stories on these sites about them taking money from people like this. Now I am just waiting to see if I will be sued. I don't have anything and if they sue me I will be homeless with my handicapped child because I don't have any money to pay this off.
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.
He then stated I was in the business of using people and liked taking things from people. When I told him his company sucked he told me they must be doing something right because they have been in business for the last 20 yrs and bought out two other companies.
I wish someone could find a way to file a class action law suit about them.

Consumer Portfolio Services BBB and Losing Title

I see tons of complaints on this site about this company. A lot of people asked about an attorney well...I had a loan with this company and paid off the car last year April 2011. Here it is 2012 and I have yet to receive my title. They told me they sent it and all they could do is send me a lien release. I waited, never received it. Contacted the Better Business Bureau. All they do for you is contact them and they basically stated the same thing to the BBB, "they sent it in the mail and they will send me a lien release" and they have a B plus rating with the BBB and they accept their response and do nothing else for you. I am now waiting. I don't know how it is possible for a company with such AWFUL reviews and complaints to have no consequences? I sure got my bills every month as well as a couple of months ago received a letter from them to get a new loan. Funny how those never got lost in the mail. What do they think? I threw my title in the trash so I could have something to complain about? Now it is going to cost me money out of my pocket to replace a title that is MINE. Something needs to be done because NO ONE else is going to help you.

Consumer Portfolio Services never been treated so bad before!!

I have seen multiple complaints about this company and i am just wondering anyone has ever talked to an attorney or pursued any further action. I really want these people, in particular Albert at ext 15858 to go down! No one deserves to be treated or talked to the way this man has me! i have tried for 2 months to straighten out my payments ( i was on maternity leave and disability was behind) and every tI'me i make a payment and i thinking on track 2 weeks later i get another threatening call. He tell me he refuses to help me and my problems are not his worries. He has call me a lair and that i must be stupid if i don't get their extension plans. He asked if i was slow because i must be to not understand. He went so far as to tell me i was a poor example of a mother if i couldn't pay my bill and that he is surprised i haven't blown up with all my lies. I get off the phone with hI'm so angry because it not that o don't want to pay my bill, i understand it is my bill but with disability being behind and it being a smaller amount then my payroll checks I'm stuck. I have always made my payments before but this mess happened. I want to take action against them but don't know where to start.

Very Very rude, I pay online to avoid speaking to them, My bill is due the 1st of every month and the last day or on the 1st of the month they are calling me on my cell, at home and at work to see when and how I am going to make my payment . I recently changed employment and refuse to give them my new employers phone number. Also I pay online and it says I owe a certain amount but the paper bill that I receive never matches. I was charged $45.00 because I supposedly underpaid by $0 .12 . Biggest Rudest Rip offs ever and the sad thing is the give high risk loans to people like me who have low credit scores so the probably feel they are somehow entitled to treat us like inferiors

Consumer Portfolio Services Poor Service and Overcharged

First of all, I never wanted CPS to manage my account, I was with Fireside bank and CPS purchased my account. This bank has HORRIBLE service, first time I called I had no information about my account being as I had never dealt with that bank before, the first person I talked to tried to get me off the phone telling me to get my account information and call back, after telling him I simply did not have it and if he could look it up he had a frustrating sigh and looking it up and told me I need to make sure I have this info before I call in as if I had anyway of ever having it.
Anytime I have called they have just had horrible service after horrible service, they really like to piss off their customers. I paid off my account yesterday, I was quoted $1, 930.70, they charged me $1, 972.70, only a $42 difference so no big deal but I tried calling them about this and my GOD the lady I talked to just didn't want to deal with me apparently. First after making it through their automated system which said about four times program could not be completed before I finally reached someone she came on the line and said please hold and instantly put me on hold, still no big deal.
I finally reached her I tried to explain that I was quoted one price and charged another, instantly she got defensive saying she's just quoting what the screen says and said if I was overcharged she's sure I'll get refunded and tried to get me off the phone. I asked if she knew when or anything and she continuously said she does not know, how can someone not have any idea on a refund for an amount I shouldn't have been charged? She said she'd have a manager call me and tried to hang up not even confirming my number with me or anything, this is just a horrible service and for all I care they can keep the $42... I'm just happy I'll never have to call them after I get my title...

CPS IS ABSOLUTELY HORIBLE AND I RECOMMEND IF YOU ARE IN THE MARKET FOR A VEHICLE DO YOUR RESRACH ON THE FINANCNE COMPANY BEFORE ALLOWING THE CAR SALESMAN TO TIE YOU INTO AN AUTO LOAN WITH THIS COMPANY. THE CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVES ARE EXTREMELY RUDE AND TOTALLY UNPROFESSIONAL. UNDOUBTLEY THEY ARE THE WORST CRDEDITOR I HAVE EVER HAD TO DEAL WITH IN MY ENITRE LIFE. GRANTED MY CREDIT SCORE WAS POOR; HOWEVER, THAT DOES NOT GIVE CPS THE RIGHT TO HARRASS, THREATHEN OR BLANTLY DISREPECT ME OR MY REFERENCES. I HAVE ASKED ON COUNTLESS OCCASSIONS THAT THEY NOT CONTACT MY REFERENCES HOWEVER THEY CALL AT LEAT 6-10 TIMES A DAY. WHERE DO THESE PEOPLE COME FROM? I AM REALLY STARTING TO WONDER WHAT HAVE I GOTTEN MYSELF INTO. THIS IS THE ABSOLUTE GREATEST MISTAKE I HAVE MADE IN MY LIFE TAKING OUT A 60 MONTH LOAN WITH CPS. I AM GOING TO TAKE THE HIT ON MY CREDIT AND VOLUNTARILY SURRENDER MY VEHICLE. THEY ARE RIDICULOUS!

Consumer Portfolio Services I haven't received a call or any explanations about my loan history

CPS is giving the run around about my pay-off amount. According to CPS I owe them about $2000.00 in fees. When I call them they tell a supervisor will call me back and they will mail me a detail explanation of my loan. I haven’t received a call or any explanations about my loan history. According to my records I don’t owe them the $2000.00 in fees.

Consumer Portfolio Services Calling -3 of my references & mother

I have auto loan with Consumer Portfolio Services, since April 2007. Payments are due 10th of month. I did not pay Nov 10th or Dec10th pymt ($375.61). They are calling my references and family leaving detailed PERSONAL information about my account, payment history. The last biligerant caller asked my mother if she was a Christian Woman, and when she said yes I am---CPS said that Christians dont lie and that she was a liar. Ive dealt with the most horrible callers. They phoned a friend of mine, not listed on my references**** HOW!
