Good But Not Great. Yet!
I have been using your Photomath app to see how well it functions.
Positives: solves accurately, easy to understand, no crashes, when available, excellent breakdown of problems, camera scan.
Negatives: app needs to show work to all problems solved, camera not accurate and seems to pick the problem above selected area, needs script writing for problems, needs to show work for all problems solved.
The $30 dollar in app purchase is a bit steep considering the limitations of the app with showing work for all problems solved and the inaccuracy of the camera with no support for script writing problems.
Overall, this a brilliant app with correctable problems and almost works as described with the camera capture. If the other added features were in place like script writing problems and it worked, the $30 dollar price tag would be well worth paying out. I would rate this 3 stars because it is about 3/4 of the to perfection.
The devs idea here is great and I certainly like it and the concept behind this app but it needs to go further before I hand out $30 dollars.
I will look forward to seeing what improvements the dev makes to this very good app in the future so I can call it a great app worth paying $30 dollars for it.
Amazing. And helpful
To all those saints out there who hate cheating but don't get math, this is the app for you.
Photo math is amazing. I'll just put it out there. All the math I never understood and my teacher failed to teach me is here. And I know, I may sound like I've finally found the perfect place to cheat on my IXL or math homework; but not really. Not at all actually. I personally am not big on cheating (only when it comes to my Foods class) and rather understand everything then just finish it up and later get caught by someone. And that's why I love this app. Because it walks you through every single step in a neat, professional manner. I see everything clearly; no messy hand writing, and can take my time to read and re-read everything for as long as it takes. Now, i understand solving equations in the four basic methods. The app is easy to function, regularly updated (gets better every time) and has never crashed. I don't use it too often, but when I do I'm always satisfied.
I also hope to donate soon, so that younger kids who don't usually have the money to be buying such wonderful applications can. It's so cool, getting a free service like this. Thumbs up to everyone who put time and effort into this app, and better yet have it to us all for free. :)
A grer app for better learning Don't Delete it!
This app is amazing if you have finished your math exercises and just want to check up wheather you made the exercises wrong or right and If you found out that You did something wrong there's an easy and Great explanation That will let you understand things more.I simply love math and I like to solve Some extra problems that The teacher Won't have time to correct in class or On her free time Because according to what I've been told she has a busy schedule everyday, As well I like to go to (study) chapters that my class haven't reached yet,and photo Math Clears things out to me , not fully but It'll do the job, so when I go to my class and The teacher explains the "new lesson" that I already know (but the students in my class dont know it) So my teacher explains a little bit more then I know and When she's done she asks someone to solve exercises due to what she had explained so here comes my turn and I get to Get plusses added to my exams and which ends up taking good grades! So in general photo Math is a great app to help students love math and get good grades!so after all This app have changed alot of students life because Some of them were struggling and some of them just wanted to give their selves some extra exercises or chapters to improve their selves ..etc.
so hearing that the application Will be deleted soon really turned me down !...
Cheating Has Some Flaws
This app is brilliantly useful and basically lets you cheat if you know the answer to the problem but don't know the work. When I'm doing my homework, I immediately go to this app and type or take a picture of the problem and then it shows me the answer and work. It works amazing and does take time to load or anything. A lot of people complain about the $30 purchase for something but you don't need it. This app is already great and should earn great ratings every hour. The best part about this app is that when my teacher is in a good mood and let's us use our phones for really hard math tests, my whole entire class uses the app. I can tell because everyone is writing down answers right away and looking at their phone then test then phone and I always see some sort of a nice smile on their face. A few days ago myself teacher came upon this app and sometimes she doesn't know a problem and she asks our class of there is any way to figure it out and we all just yell, "PHOTO MATH!" and she smiles and now uses it. U basically can just cheat on your homework or tests (if your teacher lets you and it's basically amazing). I'm so happy because it takes me forever to do my homework when I don't know 1 SINGLE problem. Sorry this was so long, but you should totally get it. Even though cheating is bad still use this app to learn something that you can't understand really easily. ✌️ Peace

They monetized it. not helpful anymore if you don’t pay
I have been using Photomath for several years now and it’s always been helpful in visualizing the steps to solve almost any math problem I could throw at it... more helpful that some humans’ explanation of it... but today I opened the app to find out how I’m supposed to solve a problem involving fraction reduction and addition and it doesn’t show you the steps... there’s a “show me how...” button to see the steps to reduce the fractions and add them (literally the entire process of simplifying the expression) and I’m greeted with an orange screen detailing this *wonderfulnew PAID SUBSCRIPTION SERVICE called photomath plus. I’m a college student, and I’m short on money. I’m trying to get an education to be a computer science student and my parents are already paying for tuition, meal plan, room and board, and certain groceries, and my medication for ADHD... I’m unable to afford paying a monthly fee to get math help on my own, and I can’t imagine what a college student who funds their own education partially/completely having to shell out a monthly fee just to get math help... the “resource center” for math isn’t open at 2am, at 98% of colleges. Given a 1-star review for forcing users to pay for functionality that was previously free (and adding ads to the app if you don’t subscribe to their service) - this is unacceptable. I’m deleting the app and leaving this 1-star until this is handled somehow. I will change my review score and update the actual review when this is addressed. I used to love photomath but now it’s getting deleted from my phone and I’ll likely forget about it and move on to some other app until that one gets monetized. So disappointing.

GOOD APP BUT SKETCHY
So during school which was in the month of May, I had decided to finally use my free subscription of photomath. They said it was a month free so I was cool with that. Made me put in my card information which I thought for what if i’m using the free trial. I don’t know if that’s what you usually do when you want to try the free trials off of any app but whatever. Months pass and today I get a notification stating that I had spent $9.99 at apple. I was very confused about this purchase and thought someone had taken ahold on my card info and was buying stuff. Then I see I got charged $9.99 again in my history. I was very confused and realized that it was photomath because of the “free” subscription and they have been charging me these 3 months. I’m a cheap person and i’m not going to be paying for a math app my whole life, I used my subscription in the month of May because that was my last year of math and I wanted to save it for when I really really needed the explaining that comes with photomath plus. I’m very angry and upset with this app and i’ve been trying to contact them. I have not been reached out through their email and that’s the only way I can contact them. I’m upset with the fact that have been charging me while I have no idea. If they would have sent me a little reminder saying “Hey you’re free subscription is going to end soon would you still like to pay for this subscription”, I would have given this app 4 stars. If this app creator sees this I want my money back and I will not be using your app anymore. I’m very upset with the fact that you have been taking my money and I have merely no idea about it. If you can contact me back please reply to this and I will give you my information.
Also it’s ridiculous how you guys used to have the explanation for free but now you have to pay in order to read it...
Great but
It’s a great thing to use for math problems you don’t understand and a way to help you study (this app gives me legit the best grades on math! Thank you) but there are a few problems That need to be fixed! And some things that could be added
Like I’ve said it’s a great app in all but one MAJOR PROBLEM is the scanner, sometimes i will have to move my camera so far back that the math problem will be read wrong. Another problem with the scanner is that when I need to move it closer is will legit so so blurry that it will take FOREVER (and I mean forever!) then another problem is that it will not, and will NOT take any word problems (math problems) but with the scanner that’s all for the scanner :)
Another problem with the app is that the icons should be a bit bigger. They are so small and close together on my iPhone that I click on the wrong thing and it takes me forever to get the Wright thing I wanted to click on the in the first place. And another problem that involves the buttons is that the button you click to take the picture should be a bit bigger it sometimes takes me a bit to click it also because it’s so small but there aren’t really many problem with the buttons.
And now for the things you add to the app. You should definitely add a way to help in every subject like reading, writing, science, social studies, and other subjects! It could also help with my grades HUGELY (and other people’s grades!) another thing you should add is a thing so you can creates playlists and listen to music while you take the pictures of the problems and such and such, it should also be able to play when you turn the phone off, too! Also you should add a little more ways to solve a problem other thank a calculator, but who knows!
But this app is really great and I totally suggest it! Thank you for taking your time to read this!
I h8 math!
This app is AMAZING bc I have an 'a' in math now. And I actually get what I'm doing. It works so well I had my paper done in like 8 min. Like woah
Holy fee’s / limitations
This used to be my go to app for helping me solve equations when I got stuck. As I moved up in school this app helped me better understand what is was looking at. This was mostly because I didn’t have the best teachers because they used a teach for the test type strategy. To be clear, I never used this app with the intention of cheating. I only used it when I was stuck on something (never on a test). Now a days, this app is unusable for this purpose. I understand that people need to make a living some how, but a subscription in this case is ridiculous and outlandish. I’m sorry, but I’m not going to pay a subscription to see problem steps. Especially an outrageous subscription of 10$. I won’t even give Spotify that much. (Wouldn’t even have Spotify if it wasn’t for the student discount.)The main reason i won’t/can’t pay this fee is because, after some research, there are other websites and apps that can perform the same actions and calculations for free with all the steps and features. Like many other comments I’ve seen, we’re mostly all broke, 13-24 year olds. It’s not worth what your pushing (Especially because to most, this is just a way of cheating). If the app overall was a payed for app (4-6$ seems fair) I would buy in just to support the developers. Maybe consider having two versions? One payed for with all the features, and the second one, a lite version with just the core feature available. To conclude, the app isn’t feasible for me anymore because it doesn’t help me solve the equations, it only does the calculations for me. So all the folk that use this for cheating through their math courses, your still in the green. However, the original purpose (to help people learn the math or at least I hope it was)of this app is locked behind a pay wall, an annual pay wall. It feels like a facetious remark to my face. Thank you developers for the support this app has given me in the past, but I’m gonna have to abandon ship on this app.

PHOTOMATH
I am talking about Photomath. You should listen to me because i have been using this app for about three years know so i have some experience with it how it all works.
I’m going to be writing this review on how the app works and what it can help with. I will also tell you guys/gals a review that someone else wrote about the app to get you guys a little understanding instead of hearing it all from just me because i could just be saying this for the fun of it (which i’m not don’t worry).
Photomath is a good way to get a understanding of something if your teacher is not there that day or you are just not understanding what the teacher is trying to tell you or teach u. Photomath gives you step by step instructions on how to solve the problem you may be stuck on. When you first open the app you will see a camera on the screen and a little white box, what you will do then is you will stretch the box to however big the problem is and hover the camera the question you're stuck on and on the bottom of the screen will be the answer in red. Know what you won't see is the step by step instructions so you will think i'm lying or something know if you then click the red box it will then pop up with the step by step instruction.
Know the down side about photomath in my mind it doesn't seem to want to do the graph so that to me is a downside because i'm not to good at graphing i don't understand the way my teacher teaches it. And you can't take pictures of your problem unless it's on a worksheet or if it's in your book you can't write down a math problem and take a picture of it doesn't want to register for some reason which in my mind is a big let down.
Minus those few little problems that i have ran into the app is pretty awesome i think it has helped me understand a lot. That i can’t always understand from my teacher so i strongly recommend this app if you are either failing a math class, or you just aren't understanding the way your teacher is really teaching you either which way i recommend the app like i said it has helped me a lot.
Useful and Convenient
I have been using Photomath since my freshman year of high school and I am now a senior, so I have some experience with it now. Surprisingly enough, I discovered this app through my math teacher because she allowed us to check our work with it. Photomath allows me to scan or take a picture of a math problem from a textbook or a worksheet and it provides me with a step-by-step demonstration of how to solve the problem.
The main strengths of the product are convenience, reliability, and instruction. This app is convenient because I can just pull it out and scan the problem, and if that does not work, then I can just type it in, I can even use it on handwritten problems! Ever since my teacher introduced us to Photomath, I have been using it up until now since it is so easy to use and it doesn’t take up a lot of storage. I used this app the most during my junior year for my honors pre-calculus class, which happened to be the year when I was completely online for school, so it was very helpful since communication with my teacher was extremely limited and it helped answer any questions I had regarding math. I also found it reliable because some of my teachers would provide us with the answers so we could learn more efficiently, so when I was confused about where I went wrong I would just use the app. Instruction is the most prevalent strength of Photomath, it does a great job at breaking down math problems. Even though it isn’t the method we are required to use, it still makes sense and it even gives the option to pick different ways to solve the problem.
The main weaknesses of the product are that I can easily take advantage of it, its scanning can be poor at times, and the fact that you have to upgrade to plus to get access to some problems. Sometimes while using it, I found it as an excuse to just be lazy and I would just copy down the answers from Photomath instead of actually learning from it. I found myself doing it a lot during my junior year because I was so burnt out that I would be really tempted to speed through my homework. Also, the scanning part would frustrate me sometimes because it would not read correctly. I’d scan a textbook question and it would pick up differently and I would have to end up typing in the entire problem, which took longer. After a year of using it, I noticed that you had to pay to upgrade for plus for some of the steps and even the answers. Sometimes it would pick up as a textbook question that required me to upgrade to plus to get access to the answer, which would be frustrating because after trying a bunch of times, I would have to resort to typing it in, which was a waste of time.
Overall, I think Photomath is great and it’s very useful, it only has a few small flaws, which comes with every app as well so it is no surprise that there is an upgrade option that costs money. Most of the time, it works very well and it gets the job done and it has helped me all throughout high school.
Changed for the Worst
This app used to be my go-to math helper, as all features were free and it was extremely user friendly. I understand that as an app continues to grow it needs more income to stay live, and I understand that certain features could be behind paywalls.
Firstly, I personally don’t mind the ads in this app, they aren’t extremely intrusive and/or overly abundant. If you’re not using this app for every single problem on homework (which you shouldn’t be doing anyways ¯\_(ツ)_/¯), the ads are actually very fairly placed; they aren’t long and the X is a big enough size to tap without being sent to Safari or the App Store.
Secondly, this app still solves homework-difficulty problems with relatively good accuracy and ease. It has seriously lost its touch with trigonometry and geometry though, as the chosen solutions make it extremely hard to understand and to follow, and end up muddying the problem that actually has a very VERY simple solution (for example, the Cosθ truly cannot equal both √3/2 AND -1/2 in the same solution of θ, but this program attempts to make it seem like there is one true solution for θ).
Lastly, any competent app developer should know from the very beginning that only NON-CRUCIAL and PREMIUM features should be behind a paywall, not features that are NECESSARY TO THE FUNCTION OF THE APP. It is beyond unfair to everyone who needs to see the inner workings of a problem to put a paywall in front of the “detailed steps” button. This app already had a HORRIBLE habit of miscalculating which steps of a problem are crucial and which are not. Anyone with a shred of understanding for algebra knows that the first step of any problem is to move independent components to the other side in an “=0” problem. BUT, not everyone knows that 2sin(θ)²-3sin(θ)+1=0 somehow magically equals {sin(θ)=1, sin(θ)=1/2}. Not many people can make that connection in ONE STEP, like your computer makes it out to be able to do. But oh, what happens when we click “detailed steps” in a complex problem like that? Paywall. The option to see so-called “detailed steps” is extremely crucial to any advanced mathematics student who may not be able to do complex mental math. Put something like the history tab, graphing function, or textbook finder behind a paywall, something that isn’t crucial. If there’s some things that free websites do like Desmos (graphing) or Slader (textbooks) that you don’t necessarily need in your program, but you decide to put in anyways, put THAT behind a paywall, not an important aspect of your app.
This app used to be what I just described, free of paywalls and ads. I’d love for this app to be a completely and truly free one again, but I do understand the need for income. I’d honestly rather pay for the app up front— and I’m sure others would too— than pay an (honestly overpriced) monthly subscription. You’re only earning two stars from me instead of one because the app at least functions with ad input (unlike many ads on the App Store nowadays). This is no longer my go-to, and until you get your act together as developers with common sense it won’t be.

Photomath Complaints 9
I have to pay for an explanation now?
I love this app because it makes solving problems so much simpler and has very in depth explanations for every single step. Now, when I don’t know how to do a problem, in order to learn, I now have to pay? This is some real dirty way to get money. Granted, LOTS of people utilize this to cheat on work, but for a lot of people, it’s used for actually learning how to do math. I can’t believe that for so long it was free and now I’m being charged? Learning shouldn’t be something you have to pay for. Because I’m being charged, for $60 a year? Like how many people can actually afford that? By doing this, you are preventing people who can’t pay some outrageous price from learning. I’m super disappointed that this is even a thing and now, this app is completely useless. Unless you get rid of this stupid trick for money, rather than ads? I will no longer be supporting this app.

Why do people have to pay JUST to understand their classwork!
I think that explaining to people shouldn’t ALWAYS HAVE TO COST MONEY! this app by itself deserves 2-3 stars! in my my opinion you shouldn’t have to make people pay just to help them understand. many student from the grade 3-12 are being forced to do online learning and it makes it harder when every time we want to use this app we have to pay left and right JUST TO UNDERSTAND the material we are learning. This app should have no in app purchases. It makes things harder for people to understand and if I don’t get any change from this feedback i’m rating 1 Star! and i’ll be suing. kids use this app to help them understand and it’s hard for children or people that are in school to understand this material. online learning isn’t as easy as you think it is! children don’t need their parents to pay for them to learn anything there should be NO in app purchases in this app! I WANT CHANGE!

App has become a scam
Ive used Photomath for I don’t know how long, but it’s been years I’ve used this app. I’m in college now and the app has but subscriptions and prices on everything. I got this app to be able to help me get through steps that I don’t understand, photomath has always been my last option when the teacher doesn’t explain the material enough and now I’m just using a normal calculator. I can understand why you might need to put prices to help support the people that run this app, but it seems the people running the app has gotten greedy. As if you guys see that a lot of people are using your app so let’s add a price to use it. I mean nobody is using this MATH app, to just simply get an answer. You always have to show your work with math, so I don’t think the app should have taken that option away. There are mainly little kids using this app, and you want to take money from them ? Doesn’t make sense.

Sigh. used to be good, but I have hope
As I read the one star reviews, I saw in that particularly caught my eye. This is not just a bad review (hence the 2 stars).
Yes, this app had become a paywall. Plain and simple.
But in this one review I read something along the lines of this: let’s the users pick and choose what they want to pay for.
Personally I like the step by step tutorials. Everything would be right there (this was way back before all the new features). Now it’s behind a paywall. Which is unfortunate. I’m currently confused on a math review too.
This brings me back to this review, I would be more than happy to pay a fee for just the tutorials, no extra functions whatsoever. It would be like the “Basic Pack of Photomath.” (One time purchase). That would then have in app purchases for the extra features.
I have faith in you photomath! Please, you have been with me for years now. Literal YEARS. You’ve helped soooo much!

RANT AND RAVE SO YOU DONT HAVE TO
So I was on the reviews on storacic or how ever you spell it and then I saw somebody say “use photo math “ and then I used it and it was the WORST when I wanted to see the steps of the equation they just kept asking me about Snapchat, Facebook, I don’t care about that it’s a math app and they want access to my apps now I’m not saying don’t use it but it’s a bad app and I wouldn’t suggest anyone use it . It’s just actually rude on how in school they give you math problems that you can’t understand and then get mad or you get held back and stress about math when it’s easy but they make it hard but if you understand it that’s good but if you don’t it’s okay that doesn’t make you stupid because you don’t understand something that just mean you just need to learn more and you will get it and learn it better but this is unacceptable that they ask for your Snapchat, Facebook like just be a math app that’s what you are

Beautiful and helpful until now
I’m studying for my GED and math has been my worst subject since forever. My previously foolproof way of “getting it” was this: 1. Read subject in book 2. Watch khan academy video explaining it way better 3. This app was my last defense against stumbling on a problem. The way it breaks down every possible step to the equation makes it so easy for not-so-math-smart people like me. Today I’m studying like always and stumbled on another problem, pull out my handy dandy Photomath, and.. it prompts me to start a subscription, of course when I try to figure out the part I really didn’t understand. The initial step breakdown is still free, but when I click the “why” button and saw that my heart sank. I never write reviews on anything, ever. I just had to voice how disappointed I am in this. I know we live in the day and age of subscriptions to apps that don’t need them but feel entitled to charge you anyways, but something as simple as this is disheartening at best.

Making kids dumb
This app is trash. I teach high school math and 75% of students have the app on their phone. I’m a stunning turn of events, the kids who have and use this app know absolutely nothing. Your app is training kids to cheat in school. You may not find this to be concerning but, have fun when these humans hit the workforce with no problem solving skills or grit hit the workforce. The fact that you’re taking in cash via advertisements and subscriptions while stripping the youth of this generation of any incentive to take on challenging work to grow both academically as well as personally is proof that you’re pathetic people with no moral compass. You know what your app is for. You know what you’re doing. You don’t care because you have the money to sleep on fine linen sheets while academic growth of young people is at an all time low. I hope your families know that you and your software developers wasted their gift of knowledge on selling poison to an entire generation.

Ridiculous Pricy
When I first downloaded this app I loved it. It helped me with my homework and showed me how to understand the math problems. However, things have changed. This app is now just a calculator without showing the steps for free. Showing the solving steps were the key to downloading this app. It is insane that you have to pay to see the solving steps for math problems when you can easily just look them up. Since it is now just a calculator I might as well delete it because I already have a calculator app on my phone. I would understand if the textbooks and videos were a plus you had to pay for, but it is ridiculous that you have to pay to see the solving steps. I would pay around 5 dollars for this app upfront when you download it, but having a monthly payment is ridiculous. This app wouldn’t even show the solving steps for simple problems like 2 + 2. Khan academy and YouTube are much better than this app and those apps are free. This app is just terrible if you don’t have the plus (which I think is a waste of money). Mathway is a much better app and is FREE to use. Overall I think I am going to delete this app

Photomath Plus
This used to be the best app to use for math by far. However, after the implementation of photomath plus, it is little more than a calculator.
Photomath used to show you how each step of the problem was done, essentially teaching you how to do the problem on top of solving it for you. Now, however, that feature is locked behind a subscription fee. A fee that auto renews every month, of course.
Unfortunately, this means the app no longer teaches you how to do any of the problems and only functions as a calculator. Still somewhat useful, but definitely not my go to anymore. It also seems like more and more of the app is being locked behind the subscription fee every day. Last week, only a few problems were locked behind the subscription. This week, every problem I’ve had has been locked behind the subscription.
Extremely disappointing to see the app go this direction, as it was a vital tool for completing my online college homework (as the work itself doesn’t offer a good enough explanation). But as a broke college student, I’m really left no other choice.
Also, the claim that photomath works on word problems is just a blatant lie.
