Geeni Surveillance Camera: Ineffective Detection, No Sound, and Terrible Customer Service
I've been having ongoing issues with my Geeni surveillance camera. It doesn't seem to acknowledge a person walking in front of it, and it fails to send alerts as well. On top of that, the sound suddenly stopped working, so I couldn't even hear the alerts that were supposed to be sent.
When I tried to reach out to the company for help with resetting the camera, I was met with disappointment. Their customer service is absolutely nonexistent. It's like talking to a brick wall. I've never experienced such poor support before. Needless to say, I won't be purchasing any products from this company again.
Overall, my experience with Geeni has been extremely frustrating. The camera's inability to detect movement and send alerts, combined with the lack of sound and terrible customer service, has left me with no choice but to throw it in the garbage. It's a shame because I had high hopes for this surveillance camera, but it has proven to be a complete disappointment.
Geeni App Review: Frustrating, Glitchy, and Nonexistent Customer Service - Major Headaches Ahead
So, I recently snagged a sweet deal on a couple of Merkury security cameras from good ol' eBay. Thought I was being a savvy shopper, you know? Little did I know, these cameras require me to download the Geeni App on my phone. And boy, oh boy, let me tell you, this app is a real pain in the you-know-what.
First off, right from the get-go, Geeni crashes on me like it's nobody's business. I mean, seriously, I just downloaded it and it's already acting up? Come on, Geeni, get your act together! And to make matters worse, it keeps bugging me to clean the cache. Like, hello? This is my first time using it, why would I have any cache to clean? It's like Geeni is playing mind games with me.
Now, here's the kicker. If this app doesn't work, guess what? Yep, you guessed it, the cameras become utterly useless. I mean, what's the point of having security cameras if you can't even access them through the app? It's like buying a car without wheels, you feel me?
Oh, and let's not forget about the space this app takes up on my poor little phone. A whopping 182 megabytes! I mean, come on, Geeni, do you really need that much space? My phone is already struggling to keep up with all the selfies and cat videos I have on here. Now I gotta make room for your bulky app too? Not cool, Geeni, not cool.
To add insult to injury, I've reached out to their customer service multiple times via email, and guess what? Crickets. Absolute silence. It's like my emails are disappearing into a black hole or something. I mean, is it too much to ask for a little customer support? I just want my cameras to work, is that too much to ask?
All in all, I gotta say, my experience with Geeni and their app has been less than stellar. It's frustrating, it's glitchy, and their customer service is nonexistent. So, if you're thinking about getting these Merkury security cameras, just be prepared for some major headaches. Trust me, you'll thank me later.
Misleading Packaging and Frustrating Customer Support: Geeni Lights Review
I bought these Geeni lights for my garage door, which is around 10.4 meters long. When I checked the box, it said it was 12.4 meters, which seemed perfect! But when I got home and opened it up, I found out that there were only 7 meters of actual lights and a whopping 5 meters of useless extension wire. Can you believe it?
To make matters worse, I noticed some fine print on the end of the box that explained how they calculated the length. It was so tiny, I almost missed it! It felt like they were trying to hide something from me. I wanted to reach out to their support for some clarification, but oh boy, what a nightmare! The support system was just a frustrating robot that offered zero assistance. Talk about a waste of time.
If you're in the market for some lights, I suggest sticking with Noma lights. At least with Noma, the measurements on the package actually match the length of the light string. It's a no-brainer, really. Don't fall for Geeni's misleading packaging and lackluster customer support.
Geeni Camera Review: Frustrating Support and Technical Issues Cause Mental Torture
The cameras from Geeni are just okay, but once you encounter any problems or have questions, that's when the mental torture begins. Even if you have already set your timezone, the time displayed on your camera will be either an hour ahead or behind. Their chat feature, which they claim is functional, no longer works. So, you're left with no choice but to call and speak with someone who has absolutely no clue about how the camera operates or how to troubleshoot any issues. These problems, more often than not, are actually caused by Geeni themselves.
It's frustrating to know that these people are being paid by Geeni to do nothing but give you a headache and stress. When the USB adapter stops working for your camera, their solution is [censored]ic - they suggest buying a generic one. This is a huge electronic no-no! I've already gone ahead and purchased newer and better cameras. I might consider using the Geeni as a backup if I absolutely have to, but I'm seriously contemplating getting rid of it altogether. No one deserves to endure the literal abuse that Geeni representatives put people through.
Geeni Smart Strip: A Game-Changer in the Smart Home World
I hopped on the "Smart Home" bandwagon a little later than some, but definitely earlier than most. My first review of Geeni was honest and true (I tend to ramble in my reviews, but I always aim for 100% truth). In fact, on one of our later purchases, I received two Geeni 1-Plug devices out of four that didn't work or even light up for pairing. But those were the "old days." :)
Fast forward a couple of years from my original review, and the "Smart Home" game has made huge advancements. Now, the question is, what can't you control with an app or your voice? The answer is... very little.
Geeni, as part of the Smart Home movement, has also made significant progress. Our latest Geeni gadget is a Smart Strip, which we call "Peripherals" in our images. It's excellent, and the best part is that it not only works with the Geeni App but also seamlessly integrates with the Smart Life App (also known as the Tuya App), which is one of the most popular apps out there.
I can't imagine going back to not controlling our electronics with our voices or phones. No way.
The only reason I'm not giving Geeni five stars is that I'm still a bit disappointed about the Mercury plug and the two non-working Geeni ones. I tend to hold a grudge, especially when it comes to money. (Hey, I said I'd be 100% honest). :)

OLD REVIEW:
I had a terrible experience with Geeni due to their lack of customer support and the fact that they didn't perfect their devices before marketing them.
Let's start with the price. At around $12 for one power outlet and $20-ish for two (these prices can vary a lot), I'm not sure if this is the most cost-effective way to make your home devices smart compared to other methods. However, I became a fan of my first Geeni power outlet and went down the rabbit hole from there.
I'll tell you about my experience.
I started by buying one Geeni power outlet for our tall bedroom lamp in the corner. The installation and pairing with my iPhone were not as simple as plug-and-play, but it was manageable. I encountered a few glitches and had to go through the installation process multiple times before it finally paired, but overall, it went smoothly enough.
I loved it, and so did my husband. (By the way, multiple phones can control the same devices by mirroring them). We could not only turn the lamp on and off from our phones but also schedule it to come on and turn off at specific times. It was awesome!
Since we loved it so much, my husband decided to get another one to power a surge-protected strip with six outlets. So we bought a "Merkury" power outlet, which is also made by Geeni and is supposed to use the same app for control. And that's where the problems started.
We couldn't get the Merkury outlet to pair with our phones or work properly, even though we confirmed that both the Merkury and Geeni products are the same. On top of that, their customer service was terrible. The instructions in the package didn't cover adding a new device to an existing setup, and their website lacked information on it. When I called them, I was put on hold for a long time while they searched for an agent to help me. Out of seven calls, I only connected with a real person three times. The first person was nice but hard to hear, and he only spoke louder briefly after I asked him to. Then he went back to speaking softly. He had me try a few different things, but none of them worked. The second person talked over me, told me to turn off Bluetooth, and then pretended not to hear me before hanging up. The third and final time, I spoke to a nice person (who might have been the first guy again), but I could hardly hear him, and he couldn't help me. After troubleshooting for a while, he suggested I return the outlet to the store.
So, in summary, while Geeni/Merkury let me down with the second outlet, being able to control electrical devices from your phone is amazing! Soon, everyone will be doing it, and in a few years, it will be the norm. And I'm not even someone who loves their phone and does everything on it. I rarely surf the internet on my phone and prefer using my trusty laptop. But managing our lights with our phones? That's a whole different story now!
Failure to provide or resolve issues with refund of $16.18 for faulty Merkury Innovation curtain lights despite months of correspondents, sending videos, receipts, details of store where purchased.
How you can put this right:
1. Immediately refund $16.18 for faulty product
2. Retain Mygeeni customer service in customer excellence skills!
