Pioneer Credit Recovery Collection Agency

Pioneer is trying to collect an alleged debt for $3956.36 as of Jan 25, 2022. This debt was paid in June 2021.

Pioneer is on Notice and a copy of the cashed check was provided. The facts are of no concern to this group of parasites.

Following common sense guidelines, state and federal law appears to be a game they play loosely - to their advantage. They are experts at deceit, deception and circumlocution.

They would not answer a question directly. Playing fairly is NOT in their rule book. They are good at bullying, using scare tactics and other questionable behavior as long as it will earn them money. They care not It is an honest debt or a mistake. They focus on making you pay - Don't dare offer facts or proof. It is as if it doesn't exist. They will not admit they are wrong or the data they have could be incorrect.

It is sad dregs like this exist solely to make others lives miserable. More unfortunate they are allowed to be in business.

Desired outcome: 1) Remove any negative credit bureau reporting. 2) Notify me they have done so in writing.

Pioneer Credit Recovery student loan debt recovery

I got a letter from Pioneer saying they were going to garnish my wages. I thought it was odd as I recently talked to the Department of Education about a repayment plan. The Department of Education says this company is a scam and not to give them any money. The DOE is handling everything directly. I will call Clark Howard about this when they open. Until then I'm not giving them any money or even calling them.

Pioneer Credit Recovery acting as the irs to collect money they say I owe in back taxes.

Can the ATTORNEY GENERAL OF FLORIDA please do something to shut this company down for harassing not only me but others for their illegal activities in scamming people out of their money stating they owe the IRS money. Believe me if I owed the IRS they wouldn't be handing my off to a debt collection company let alone this one.

Pioneer is a scam of a company. They frighten people into thinking they owe money, people get scared (especially the elderly) and mail them a check.
THIS IS A SCAM OF A COMPANY! JUST SHRED THE MAIL.

Actually They are contracted by the IRS to collect. You can verify by going to IRS.Gov. However they do violate people rights and the Fair Debt Collection Act. I am in Texas and dealing with them now. I already filed with the Consumer Protection Agency and the Attorney General. I agree these quacks to need to be shut down.

Pioneer Credit Recovery collection

I have been contacted and harassed by PCR over the last 3 months. I was told 3 months ago that I owed $6, 000 and change. Three days ago I was told that my balance was $9, 000+ change... WHAT! They told me that the increase was due to "monthly fees and interest rates".

That averages to about $1, 000 a month in total increases. This is ridiculous and I feel that PCR is a fraudulent company. I am so glad to see these posts... they're not getting a dime from me! I will pay back at decent rates once I am contacted about who I am supposed to LEGALLY pay.

Pioneer Credit Recovery student loan

I just gotten a letter from this company saying that I owed payment on student loans. They got the wrong person. They say that I owe on four USAF Early Age Bucket 1. I looked up what that meant and it is for United States Air Force. I was never in the Air Force or went to school for them. I am a housewife with bad feet and back problems since I was 17. These people (Pioneer Credit Recovery) has been calling me several times from Indiana. I called my Student Loan company I use to make payments for college in the early 2000's, and told them what was going on to make sure everything was on the up and up. They told me that everything is good on my end. I did research on Pioneer and they have tons of fraud complaints. Be very careful and never deal with them. Scam artists.

That's awful! Companies can really ruin people's lives. I'm sorry you are going through this. My husband got on the phone with them and set them straight. He also told them to quit calling my mother in law. She just lost a very dear friend that was living with her from the flu and they called her that same day. She was in no mood to get calls like that.

Pioneer Credit Recovery reference number left on answering machine to call [protected]

The caller "Brynn Baylor" called my boyfriend's land line and said message was for me. Used my name and said to call them with a refernce number.

I called them and searched web while the first woman said she could not locate the number. I then pressed her for information and she transferred me to "Brynn Baylor". Brynn asked for my name and I did not give it to her. I asked her why she could not use the reference number she left in the message. I asked her what exactly they did at Pioneer Credit Recovery and did not receive a reply. I explained ahe call my boyfriends number and used my name "Brynn" then replied that she could not help me. She ended the call.

Pioneer Credit Recovery poverty and humiliation.

I'm beyond humiliated. Mrs. Smith (the actual name she gave), from Pioneer Credit Recovery left a voice mail for me at my place of employment, on our general phone message system (a co-workers phone).
I never gave them my work number or even my place of employment.
I understand that I've defaulted on my student loans, but I work 60+ hours a week between two jobs and still to go into my overdraft every month. My children and I barely subsist on what I bring home.
Poverty AND humiliation.

We're always taught that we are considered innocent until proven guilty...This is not the case when it comes to debt collection. If you are sued, you must show up at the court date and dispute the debt there. Then you can finally force the collection agency to produce evidence that :

1. The debt is valid
2. They have a legal standing to sue you for the debt (a number of documents required to prove that they have the legal right to sue YOU for the money they claim they are owed. )
3. The amount claimed is accurate
4. The debt is still within the statute of limitations for legal remedies

Debt buyers almost NEVER have the legal standing required to bring a suit anyway. They know this, and still fill the courts with in-house generated 'affidavits' making claims they know they can not back up in most cases. They make their money from 'summary judgements' on the people who do not know their rights and don't show up in court to force the agency to prove their claim. If you don't show up, the assumption is that the debt buyers claim is factual! You will then be legally obligated to pay a debt that, otherwise might not even be valid!

Pioneer Credit Recovery unprofessional and privacy violation

This company searching for an individual "x" called me several times to ask me if I could pass a message to that individual who supposedly was my neighbor! When I told them that I didn't know that person and asked them why they were calling me, the representative said that some how they got my phone number associated with the same address where this "x" person live... I think is so unprofessional and a matter of public safety that they are taking phone numbers from people's records without any permission, assuming you might know the person they are looking for... What if that "x" person is a criminal, and someone like me a descent citizen is getting randomly associated with an unknown ! Unbelievable ! When I asked the CS why they were doing such thing, she just said " what kind I say" ...

Pioneer Credit Recovery harrassment

I just got off the phone with this company. i talked to Tony. I found the letter they sent me and no ware on this letter is a payment plan. I have been contacted at work, home and cell. I am being told that I need to settle this TODAY! I have asked for a payment plan and have been refused. They wanted all my bank information so they could start taking the money out of my account. Tony kept saying he was working with me HAHA. I am very willing to pay but I need an amount I can work with and it is not at $1000 a month. Has anyone had any success getting these people to back off?

Pioneer Credit Recovery disreputable

I had to drop out of my graduate program to take care of an ill family member, then got behind on my student loans during the years that followed. In January 2011, I was contacted at work by Pioneer Credit Recovery - tried to discuss a reasonable repayment schedule and then found out that I was not dealing with people who "negotiate" or have a clue what hardship is. They called me at work, even after instructed not to, on my cell phone at work. I tried to work with the Ombudsman's Office at the US Department of Education; they would be told of a monthly repayment plan I could actually pay, I'd call Pioneer, and they'd deny it, switch me to another person who never heard of the deal, and every excuse under the sun NOT to do what was fair or reasonable for a person in my situation who was trying to repay them the @$18, 000 I owed, They wanted their FEES. The company profits are up 1300% (last time I read about them).

Fast forward 4 months to June 2011, I requested a hearing, supplied 30 plus pages of documentation of the financial situation I was in after nearly a decade of caring for my family member and it was ignored. They said they gave me a hearing (after I complained about them), which was a flat out lie.

Then, they commenced with garnishing my wages nearly $700 per month - making it impossible to meet my normal financial obligations. In desperation, in October 2011, I borrowed the money to repay the student loan from my nearly-80 year old mother, had a pro bono lawyer help me negotiate a settlement, with a promise from Pioneer that anything paid to them/garnished after a certain date would be refunded to me in 30-60 days.

After an incredible runaround, now in February 2012, it took the help of a US Senator's office to get 80% of the refund. This was after I had to move out of my apartment (to avoid eviction), borrowed money from online lenders to do so, re-situated my ill family member -- and suffered untold humiliation, stress and frustration.

These people are THE WORST collections people I have ever dealt with (that's saying something because I had rotten times after I got divorced). Even the IRS is nicer. These people are the very reason that we need oversight of collections agencies.

WHY is this ABUSE of power being permitted? HELLO congress / senator's how would you like it if this was you family member - do something to get this stopped. If pymts they receive would be applied to the principle portion of the debt instead of applying toward the interest portion of the debt first THEY WOULDN'T have a 1300% profit - THE working class would be able to provide for their FAMILIES instead of these FAT CAT'S inceasing their wallets.

Pioneer Credit Recovery pam a supervisor

I have 2 student loans that Pioneer Credit Recovery have now. I was paying on these loans for almost 2 years then i lost my job. I am trying to take care of all my debts so i called to find out where my loans are. I found out they are with Pioneer Credit Recovery so I called them to get some information so i can start taking care of them again. I spoke with the supervisor Pam and she was the rudest woman I have ever spoke to. I called them so i can take care of this and she treated me so horrible. She spoke over me for everything i was trying to tell her. I told her i was trying to take care of these loans, but i would need a couple days to set up a payment plan because i need to get information on my other debts so i can make a budget to see how much i could pay them a month. She got so rude and said because i couldnt make a promise of payment right then that she was going to put a "refusal of payment" on my account. Then she hung up on me. I am trying so hard to take care of all of my debts and this woman is from hell. They never called me, i called them. I want nothing more than to take care of all my debts, but she was so mean and no help whatsoever. She is such a horrible human being.

According to the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, collectors may only contact a person by cell phone if given permission in writing to do so. the article says
"The law doesn’t mention cellphones or email, says Markoff, because it was written in 1978. And forget publishing notice on someone’s Facebook page. If anyone other than the debtor saw the posting, that would equate to “publishing to third parties, ” Markoff says, which would violate the statute."
If a law says you can only use a oven make food in a restaurant and the law was made before microwaves that doesn't mean the law immediately updates itself upon the invention of microwaves. You would need the legislature to update the law. The article simply says that the law does not mention cell phones or emails because they were not invented at the time of the laws drafting. It does not say that it does not pertain to them. Clearly it would have been impossible to draft a exemption for technology that did not exist yet. Since the only method for contact provided for by the statute is land lines then it seems clear that the only lawful method to contact a person is by land line.

Pioneer Credit Recovery not willing to help

Just received a letter that this outfit has attached my tax refund using the Federal Management System in Birmingham, AL. Suspected a defaulted SBA loan from 7 years ago on a business that went bad. We paid off all our bills save two, one a credit card that was written off by the credit card company (my wife took the points hit), and the SBA loan, which we got half paid off, ran out of money, and they sent us a letter saying it was zeroed out. 5.5 years go by. Eighteen months ago we did a dance with NCO Collections out of NJ trying to recollect on the credit card, and after some letters, (all certified, return receipt required), and presentation of a notarized copy of the write off letter from the credit card company along with a cease and desist letter, we prevailed.
These PCR guys are a whole different level. We are not lushes, we went out and borrowed as much as we could and paid off our debts, (took 5 years), but when SBA sent us a zeroed letter 7 years ago we figured OK, we'll take the credit hit and let's move on. Apparently not so...
My wife called PCR once, she is a professional debt collector herself for over 6 years now. She was floored at their immediate vilolations. All they wanted was our full SSN numbers. Not a chance. She held her ground only giving the last four and a name, they put on the "supervisor" (usually at the call center there is a floating higher level collector with more years experience - not a supervisor - they call it a twinteam), and he came on and they did the dance four more times and he terminated the call. The letter we got doesn't even say what the debt is, just that it has been attached to my tax refund. It was mailed from Alabama. Calls to the Federal Management System in Birmingham does no good, they give out PCR info and tell you to call them.
Pioneer is NOT a part of any federal agency, they have a contract with some, Dept of Ed, SBA, and a couple others. They are hired to collect for them. These are not government employees, they are just another collection house that is currently doing pretty well.
After talking to my Accountant, we did the following: Pull your credit report. We had not in a year, so I went to www.annualcreditreport.com, the government free reporting service. It took about 25 minutes to get all three, using their easy prompts. In my case, the SBA loan does not even show up, but a couple account inquiries do on collections. This knowledge is power. PCR has not been one of them so they are simply running on a case number presented by the FMS in Birmingham. My Accountant also suggested that we pull both of ours, so we will do my wife's this week, although the letter from PCR only shows my name.
Their insistance on getting my full SSN from my wife shows us that they have basically case numbers, which Federal Management Systems in Birmingham said to use the same number as what was on the letter. That letter was sent by FMS in Alabama, NOT from PCR. So they need the SSN to get to your full information. My next event will be to send a registered/return receipt required letter demanding PCR disclose the information they claim to have. They will have 30 days to respond. There is a chance they do not, since they were so adamant at getting their hands on my SSN. Their agreement may include a provision that the Federal Management System in Birmingham puts on the attachment. But any reasonable collection agency can work with the last four digits of an SSN and a name. This tells me that these guys are not fully informed and are working a contract with the Feds. They may be given a case file, an amount and type of loan, and maybe a name. The government cannot just willy-nilly give out all your information to anyone, unless the entire PCR corporation has undergone background checks with the feds. Somehow I doubt it.
If you have an SBA loan you have defaulted on, unless you can prove they zeroed it, you are in for a ride. PCR says they attach the tax return, but my letter came from a federal agency in Birmingham who attached. It did not have the name of PCR on it, I had to call Birmingham to get the name of PCR. But know that you need to stay with letters, certified, return receipt required, and do not do anything by phone. My wife and I thought that doing the dance with NCO Collections was a trip - PCR is a whole 'nother league. That's why they are currently the number one collector for the Feds, an astounding 33%, where others are often around 13%. And remember that knowledge is power, and if you can, pay off the damn debt. In my case, they won't even tell me how much it is, even if I wanted to write them a check today. I simply refuse to give my full SSN over a phone. All I am asking for is a reasonable conversation where I can make arrangements. Not this prison-like, mushroom treatment where I am kept in the dark. That is the path to a treadmill. Well, fine. I will use the power of the Fair Credit Act and the USPS, Certified, Return Receipt Required.

Pioneer Credit Recovery scammers

I had my student loans go to PCR and called them to set up pymnts. I was told that I could take part in a recovery program, it sounded great and I was thrilled, I was going to be able to get future student loans and it would be taken off my credit report. I knew my tax refund was going to go onto the acct and they said to wait until it did and then set up the payment program. So yesterday it was credited on the acct and I called to set up my program. I was then told in an incredibly rude manner that now because my balance is 750.00 it is too low to take part in the program and I am S.O.L. I am completely FLOORED...let me get this straight...I have paid too much money towards my debt to get an incentive...does NOT make a bit of sense. They treated me horribly...I cant believe it! It is so stupid...I was specifically told I could do it, and when I gave the name of the woman I talked to before I was told "oh she is no longer with this department." I hate PCR and I hope something horrible happens to those people. It wasnt like I just quit paying my loan...I got cancer my last quarter of school and managed to graduate even through chemo and then I suffered a great deal of side effects from surgery, chemo, and radiation so I couldnt work for a longtime. I was able to do the hardship deferments...but then they ran out. I should NOT be punished for paying too much money! PCR should also have kept to the word of the employee I spoke to previously

I called these ###s at 866.888.1716 after they left a
message on my cellular phone and my girl’s phone as well! They were looking for
a client of mine, who never has had my girl’s cell phone or mine. Apparently
this client defaulted on a student loan. I called and basically asked how the
hell they got my cell phone number and of course they gave me some scripted ###
about using skip tracing techniques, etc. I immediately reported them to the
California Attorney General but I doubt that it will do any good.

I encourage everyone who is called by these bottom feeders
to tell them to remove your name and number from their files and tell them
absolutely nothing. This company is a
subsidiary of SallieMae and the idea that they call up anyone who MIGHT BE
associated with their debtor is reprehensible and morally opprobrious.
