don't even bother joining
I am 45 and I've been a member on and off of Plenty of Fish for several years now. When I get fed up with not finding or meeting quality men, I take a break for awhile before I go back on it. It IS free to join, and you can contact other users, but to be a 'gold' member they require you to pay a membership fee in order to 'spotlight' your profile and show others that you are a serious member.
I met 2 different guys, one in his 30's, the other in his 40's like me this past summer. Both men pretty much were looking to have sex, as they found me attractive. While I initially liked both of them, the one guy didn't have a lot of depth to him, and I ended up having to pay for things like gas for his truck, JUST so him and I could see each other again! Plus a free meal. He didn't say thank you. :( The other man didn't drive because he had an impaired charge and lost his license. These are the types of guys you will find on pof. And the site I find has plenty of LOSERS. Another guy I met last winter I also had to give gas money to, and I told him he had to pay me back. When he refused to answer my messages on pof, I was forced to go to his house, where he lived with his mom and dad, and demanded my money back! He wasn't home, but his dad 'saw' me outside (I didn't know who he was, so didn't approach him) and called me, and later the next day came by with the $40.
Another guy who was more psycho, had something 'off' about him I didn't like, by the text messages I was getting from him 'I just want to be your man!' was German, and when I cancelled meeting him one weekend, the next day he sent me nasty, very angry, and crude and ignorant text messages!
These are not good, quality men, and they all tend to have issues like being cheap or not having money, and most profile pics show some pretty unattractive men, so it's obvious why they are still single. Don't even bother joining!

Bottom line is soldiers identities being used to meet women on online dating services. Others posing as them trying to collect money. Was told his name is Joey Ruddock, lives in the states Has two young daughters and is a widow. Wants a phone so he can skype with the victims and their children. Found the same pics I have on a website with other soldiers. The name James has also been used. I have also filed a more detailed complaint with the Federal Trade Commission. Here are just a few of the photos I have.

A woman on this sight engaged with my father, a sick dying man, into a relationship of undue influence. Towards the end of his life tis person he met on this sight managed to change his WILL, Life Insurance Policies and a final large sum of cash a week prior to his death. There should be proper screening of individuals on these sights.

I recently got contacted by the scammer behind this guy. I don't know if that is the real person, or someone using his pictures, either way it is despicable! Mine goes by Tim Rudduck, says he's been divorced for 7 years. His wife was a cheater. Almost got married again, but she died of cancer 2 weeks before the wedding, and his 3rd relationship ended because the women he was seeing go involved with drugs and then another man. I've seen several scam reports on different sites for this guy. All sorts of names. He also has at least 4 different Facebook account and I got contacted by him through AYI (an off shoot of Facebook).
Several scam buster website state that this scam originates from Ghana.

I also met online that Joey Ruddock..He sent me also same photos. He said that he was on a mission at Afganistan and he will soon retire and go back to USA within 6 weeks. He has 2 children both girls ages 10 and 8. His wife is irresponsible and alcoholic thats why he want to find a woman whom he can bring to the USA to take care of her kids. He also said that he has a construction busy to run once he retire. He was trying to pretend that he is rich and will support me once I got to usa. When i google his name I found out that he is scam and have a already complain about his modus operandi. I send him the link and he got upset and never come online..
Please beware of this JOEY RUDDOCK, you might be his next victim. Now I know the reason why he was ban on the dating site where I met him. I hope the Federal Trade Commission will do some action on this matter so that he will not fool anyone and can no longer manipulate on here on the internet. Plenty of Fish is supposed to be a free dating service but they play "milk the clients for all they are worth" and they screw with you online. Like when I was first on there I could see who viewed my profile, who read my messages and when and how often a particular potential date was online. Then they realised they are getting no money from me they started limiting my access to try and coerce me into paying for the services that were supposed to be free. Of course i wasnt about to give them any money because i havnt made one connection in more than a year on the site. I suspect they control and manipulate the system to suit themselves. So they claim to be a free dating site but they are far from free and they want money from everyone and they will limit your access to get it. If you try to challenge them they block your emails. Customer service doesnt exist. They dont give a damn about anything but making money from everyone they can. Save your money shop elsewhere.

An acct was made by a phony...in my name using my facebook info... They used their own email, because I woukd never had known unless an # at work who cheats on his wife didnt show me... Im in a relationship and it has caused irreparable damage.. This is heinous...in all aspects.. I have now closedoff my f. B. Profile to the public.. It was a great tool for keeping in touch with home.. Not so uch now.. I love my boyfriend and some #tard has ruined that... They even used a pic from my f. B. On the site... Enough already... And it has taken the day for them to remove it... And they offered no info on the email of the # that #ed my life...
I have a complaint for POF. Fraudulent use of my pictures a phony user has made up a profile with user name AMBER2824. They have used a picture from FB which I have privacy settings set and has copied to POF made the profile up I have sent requests to have the profile removed and the persons IP address investigated from. There IT department
This wrongful act on POF's part for not considering the damages they cause to parties outside of there site with no apologies whatsoever not even the decent respect to respond to the email that was put forth. Doesn't say much for POF owner

Plenty of Fish doesn't screen the people who use the website, there may not be much they can do. If you were the victim of a crime, you need to go to the police.

Got contacted by this member- Legend 2012 who seemed ok for the first 5 messages on the site, after declaring he was coming off the site, i agreed to swap BB pins with this guy not wanting to give him my number. Once he had this i was constantly bomabarded with 30-40 messages a day- all very sexually explicit and graphic, some violent sounding explaining what he was going to do to me. After ignoring him for 3 days i explained that i did not want to speak to him. at which point he became threatening and abusive. I tried reporting to Plenty of Fish who said as we hadnt met they cannot remove him... ladies beware... this guy is a freak and does not like taking no for an answer. once i deleted him from my BB he has continued to try and contact me on the site, i have now deleted my profile due to him and not wanting to meet freaks like this. They removed my profile the other day and I did absolutely nothing wrong. :-( My account had been up for roughly 5yrs or so, and I have always played by the rules. All photos were of myself in respectable attire. I filled the profile to their liking and length.--filled it with humor and quotes. It may not mean much to em, but I actually put thought and time into the words I felt could potentially fall into the eyes of my future husband. It hurts for them to just abruptly take my entire profile down without at least a single courtesy warning. I did nothing wrong and if it were not bad enough they wiped my write up clean, all my photos got deleted as well. I have no copies of any of them. My profile is no longer there--as if it never even existed. Oh well..what may seem hot of a site now can easily be replaced tomorrow. What any business is remembered for once its lights go out and the flashing neon signs are permanently taken down, is the way it treated people...Not its lifetime profits...not its grand total acquisitions, but the value it placed in each person during course of its business cycle . I lost all correspondence with others. I am deeply offended that I received no warning and no explanation and no response to my query, Further, I wasted substantial time repeatedly efforting to login as the site does not even have a courteous notification that the profile has been deleted but, instead, reads that the password and username are in error.

i just now got deleted by that piece of ### punk markus. no notic, no warning, and i just started my profile today about 5 hours ago. i loged in, i viewed about fourty profiles and sent about 20 messages to people i thought was my type, all the ones i sent messages to was showing online. so i waited for some replys back and never got them. so about an hour later i got upset that i was saying nice and sweet things to these girls, and sent some messages to a couple of them telling them off because the least they could do is say thank you and not be rude. well i then found out she was in bed asleep and her computer was off. so my question is how the hell can she be showing online while she is fast asleep. i know axactly why. markus is showing people online to raise his rateing online. at the same time markus has no clue how his misleading people is really pissing people off and turning people against eachother. now because i was mislead to think that girl was online i got upset for nothing and she blocked me. and yes, i understand why she did. i acused her of doing something she didnt do only because i thought she was online and that she was being rude. and i speake my mine. i have sent numerus emails to markus and he WILL NOT answer me back like a guttless caward that he is. its a real good thing he wasnt in front of me. because i would punch him right in his mouth. thats what markus dose, he has no kind of busyness running a dating site. and i will do everything in my power to shut him down. but we all need to come together as one to show him that he cant just take the very people that made him who he is today for granted. i have never heard of anyone that has ever been able to contact markus.

I met a person on this website last week. I see others have complained on your board about the site also. I met a person and chatted for 5 days. He confessed on thee 6th day that he was an impostor. He sent me 2 detailled nude photos the prior day that disgusted me. He confessed that he had taken a male model photo and another photo and used them as his profile photos. Actually he was 40 years older than the person he claimed to be. He explained in detail how he wanted me in an intimate setting. I explained to him that I was not interested in this type of friendship. He apologized over and over again. He claimed he did not have many friends and I was the perfect girl he was in search of. He lied about every part of his life. He indicated he would remove his profile and never treat a woman this way again. Yesterday I deleted my profile on the site, cleaned out my computer of any correspondence I had with him and called the police to report him. He now is back on the site with anotheer profile name and anotheer zip code. He will deceive another woman even today probably! Websites that have no screening should not be used. I have learned my lesson from this experience, even though it was a free site. I tried to notify Plenty of Fish but see they are in Canada and there is no phone number. I did not give my address to this predator but he did get my phone number from me. Never again will I place myself into this situation. My life is too precious to be a victim. Be aware of these on-line dating sites that claim theey are legitimate. This one is definitely not!

I am extremely upset with plenty of fish. I keep reporting the same scammers who are well known on United scammers. And Scamming SCAMMERS action.
Yet sometimes the same day they appear again. Same person photo. Different age different location different profession.
But I've been on United scammers and scamming scammers for a while and I know these people are victims of stolen profiles.
Most of the profiles are stolen by Nigerians.

This dating site I believe is based in Canada but operates in many countries. I have been the subject of harrassment by someone who set up a dating profile in my name. This website then obviously allowed the person to edit the email address on the profile to mine. I was bombarded with messages from men with vile user names who thought i was interested in meeting for sex. This website clearly lets you change your email without sending a verification link to that email address to make sure that it is you that has signed up. I had to get the police involved and a warning about harrassment was issued. I tried to contact the owner of this site urgently by email several times and it was simply ignored. It's a vile website with no standards.

His profile says "the swordfish: looking for the right women." (Notice he said women, not woman). How do I know this? Because up until 1 week ago he was my boyfriend of almost 6yrs. Half of whats in his profile is a lie, and his profile has been up and down several times over the last 2 yrs or so. He is a cheater, a lier, and never has only 1 woman at a time. I had been a member of plentyoffish for several yeas and just recently they deleted my entire profile for no reason. I've tried to start, a new profile with new username and password, but it won't let me. It evens states that my email address in not in their data base. I the received a generic email from a "Markus" welcoming me to the site and verifying my username and password that they say is already being used and still are unable to get back into the site. I've emailed them several times without any reply.
Stay away from these free sites, they aren't worth the time and trouble.

Then the very next time tha I logged back in, I could not, (and still can't) read my inbox messages... What is up with the "out of date password" thing? Over the last 3 days I have repeatedly attempted to access my received mail. .. I Followed the commands on screen, put my new password in and nothing! I have followed the on line prompts to enter my new password with no success. I still have not received my new pass word to this account. From looking at blogs and message boards. Last year, a close friend of mine, who is quite beautiful and physically extremely desirable, joined the site and posted recent, tasteful pictures of herself. In her profile, she made it quite clear what she will and will not abide by, the type of relationship she sought( long term with a monogamous man), et cetera. In return, she received responses and messeges, literally 40 seconds after she joined. But of the three consecutive men she met and dated, from that site, NONE of them were anything close to what they claimed to be on their profiles. Alas, they all requested sex on the first date.

When she dared to complain, to the staff, she was unceremoniuosly banned permanently removed from the site, for good. NO warning, NO explanation. When she repeatedly attempted to contact the site's staff, she was disregarded. Subsequently, and independent of the site, she met an older man. About eight months later, when she visited the site, from a different computer, she accidentally ran across the profile of a particular man, who had joined the site, listed himself as a "twenty-year old" man, despite his pictures that showed his age and the fact that he was far too overweight and OLD to be twenty, versus the near-sixty that he really was( shame on you, Plentyoffish.com). She stared at the man's profile. She was staring at her boyfriend's pictures. His profile not only listed him as "twenty-year old, " but also stated that he was seeking erotic e mails and bondage sex.

Plenty Of Fish says it is a "100% Free Online Dating Service for singles", that is a lie, they have a paid "UPGRADE" option. This is absurd and illegal. The government should do something to stop this huge website from continuing with the false adverstising / deceptive advertising / misleading advertising. My personal experience on POF leads me to agree with those who state their experience on the site is deceptive. It is now Dec 28, 2018 and my subscription just expired. After trying to get back on the site to see who "wants to meet me", (after two alerts to my reg email), the site would not show who they were without my paying again. Just logged in. I am a male, if anyone going to get ripped off by a dating site that would be males. POF is not any different in that respect in that it gives free Upgraded memberships to lots of women. I created 5 that day, all deleted within minutes of being "live". Just created 3 today and all kicked off. Nothing about removing my profile makes any sense at all. I emailed them and got an automatic reply stating how they were sorry they cant reply to all emails, but if you are a paying user they would. One user, before i was kicked off the first time told me to go to hell. Then my profile was removed. It seems to me that this site is discriminating against women. I have worked very hard at being very honest and open about my transgender sexuality. From the very first sentence in my profile I state very clearly “I am not here to fool, mislead or misrepresent myself in anyway I am a transgender woman most commonly recognized as a MTF. And after an amazing amount of responses to my profile it’s was taken down. I never sent anyone any pics of any kind other than what was visible on my profile. There is a desire for heterosexual men to meet trans women (those of us who actually want to meet a man for a relationship)that was very clear the first 3 hours my profile was up I had more than 67 responses in one day.

I don't have a problem with trying to delete my account but I do have a problem with someone else deleting my account then when I get on it won't take my password.My user name is still there.I still get updates on people sending a messages. I would really like to get back on the site. ne major problem I do have is the 3 men I have gotten messages wants a lasting relationship but after some time they ask me for thousands of dollars.RED FLAG! No I didn't give them money but this is my 2 main complaints. Have searched different places to get in touch with POF.

This man revolves all over Plenty of Fish, Match, Singlesnet, SeniorPeopleMeet, Eharmony and claims to be an honest man. Goes by Ahi007. Once he seduces the woman he met on the site, he will encourage her to be in a monogamous relationship and for her to sign off on the dating site where they met. He will sneak off and contact other women on other dating sites while you you are locked in a bad, monogamous relationship. A control freak, he lies and goes to the brothels of Bangkok every year for the young, poor prostitutes who service him for very little money.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.

All of you peopesle on the internet with pof, datehookup, facebook, myspace got serious mental health issues, Go to church and get right with God, and maybe you just might meet someone if you repent of your sins.

As a successful man whom at one time had a POF account all I can tell you is that it is rather obvious the men that you met saw you as an easy mark to take advantage of. DO NOT pay for gas for someone's vehicle so that you can see one another, this should be a big red flag and should not need explained. Talk to people and get to know them a little before meeting, it is just like any other dating website and the quality of people you meet will depend on your own screening procedures. Lastly do not judge ALL men based on the men that you chose to meet. I assure you we are not all the same. After all I met a few ladies whom I wouldn't consider seeing again but I would never assume you are as crazy as they are just because you were a member of the same website.
