When we first signed up with PopTelecom we did so because the speeds in our local area had dipped for some reason. The sales agent my wife spoke to did a speed test and told us we could expect an average speed of 45mb downloads. We used to get these speeds with our other supplier but they had dipped to about 32mb so we signed up on a cheap deal for 18 months.

Straight away our speeds were poor. We never got the 45mb stated but instead got 30-35mb maximum. We complained but was told these were the maximum we could get for our area. We went back and forth about what we used to get with our other supplier, how we felt we had been deceived and so on with no resolution. Eventually we just had to accept this was the new, low speed for our area.

Two months after signing up our bills were raised by £4.50 which were a result of 2 hidden assurance costs. We complained again and eventually had these removed but were not refunded.

Now our speeds have hit an all time low, we get about 15-20mb max now and our connection is intermittent most days and awful of an evening.

There have been loads of workmen digging up areas in our streets upgrading the network but apparently this is another company who will be offering full 1gig fiber. We have contacted PopTelecom several times about the awful speeds and intermittent connection and they claim everything is fine and cant detect any issues with our line. They were not even aware of the network upgrades being done in the area.

This company is shockingly bad in our experience, speeds are awful, support is 3rd rate at best, and when a support agent calls us back, they can barely speak English and they don't fix any issues. Its been a terrible experience which I suppose we would have expected if we had known that PopTelecom lease their lines from TalkTalk who are voted the worse internet supplier year on year by Which!

We have recently purchased a 5G router due to all the issues with PopTelecom which cost us £250 and we added an unlimited data sim to it which cost us £20pm. Now we are getting speeds of 350mb downloads and a constant connection.

We have just paid our Pop Telcom monthly fee at the beginning of July. We cancelled the direct debit and within one day they had suspended our service without any contact or notifications. We got an email a few hours after it had gone off saying:

We are contacting you today because we have received notification from your bank that your Direct Debit has been cancelled.

Upon activation of your account with POP Telecom, you agreed to our Terms & Conditions including point 25:

25. Direct Debit Payment: We reserve the right to request that you pay for the Services by Direct Debit and you accept that your Charges may increase if you do not use this payment method. If a direct debit is dishonoured or cancelled, we shall be entitled to pass on to you any third-party charges we incur and in addition, we may lower your Credit Limit, suspend or terminate your Service. We shall also be entitled to charge you a monthly administration fee for each month in which your direct debit is dishonoured or not reinstated following cancellation.

Your account has now been suspended.

If we receive no contact from yourself, or are unable to get in contact with you to resolve this ongoing matter, your account will be at risk of termination.

So not only have we paid for the whole of July for nothing they are now threatening us with more fee's!

We would advise anyone thinking of going with PopTelecom to Google them first, check out some other review sites and see just how bad this company actually is! These guys offer zero support, they are piggy backing off one of the worst internet service providers in the UK, off poor speeds and intermittent connections, they should be struck off!
