I too have received a credit debt statement and I've never even had a sears account!
I have been getting calls from this fraudelent company for a month now...since I blocked some other company from calling us..now they are calling using several numbers...I finally answered it today and they have my husbands name somehow...and our phone number and say they have a debt to collect...WE HAVE NO DEBT, not do we have the credit card they claim we have...they just pulled our name out of a hat and got our number and wanted me to give him the last 4 numbers of my husbands social security number...what a scam...I told him...I will not give you any information...he says I need it to verify that you are not the person I want...so I told him NO...I will block any and all calls I receive and keep blocking them...don't let them scam you into thinking you owe them anything...and certainly do not give them any information including your address or where you live! This is a huuuuuge scam which I imagine leads to identity theft! Hang up on them and run
this website is so stupid...i work for portfolio recovery and the sad part about it is that most of the people that we call simply just forget about the debt that THEY HAD. this is crazy to hear. pra reps give debt collection a good name and would never disrespect a customer. you people need to get it together and stop lying. and answer the phones. we dont call over and over but we do everyday. it is against the law to make someone pay a debt that is not even under their ssn. plz get it together and know your facts before you try to slander a business. and think about this...if u people we just a little nice when i answered the phone and actually talked to us with respect then u will get alot accomplished. hanging up will just keep the calls coming. and u just might find out that we are humans, working to pay our bills, and are pretty nice.
I have the same problem with these people.constant calling even after cease and desist, I just pulled my credit report and noticed the are saying I made a 50.00 payment of course no date but has recently been added to my report because I pull it often.yet date of last activity on same report is listed as over six years ago.Time to sue.waiting unyil tomorrow to rack up more of their calls on caller ID to take to court.I guess they dont realize its been invented.I just delete all but theirs. So prettynicegal gotcha.
Prettynicegal you need to wake up when it comes to your employers practices. Just check out what is being said all over the net, your reps are abusive and uncaring at best and that's being polite.
At least unlike so many other posters praising PRA you had the decency to admit you work for these blood sucking parasites for which I give you credit.
I finally managed to speak to one of your so called friendly reps last Friday and despite telling her that I was not even a US citizen back in 1997 (I immigrated here legally in 2009) when the supposed debt was incurred she just kept repeating I was obviously lying and I needed to pay up or else!
Also yes you do call over and over and you do ignore what people offer you to prove their case. I offered full documentation to prove I was still in the UK back in 1997 only again to be told "stop trying to waste my time and pay up NOW or you'll be sorry!"
I was polite for the first 25 minutes but after being repeatedly being called a liar and a time waster my patience ran out and I did hang up before I became abusive. Since then your so called ethical company insists on calling several times a day including times which are not permitted by law!
Finally your company buys old debts for around one cent on the dollar which are legally beyond the statue of limitation and then fraudulently makes claims that a person has made a payment so the debt is legally now collectable and then again illegally enters a record on that persons credit report.
