We had a new garage door installed and we also purchased new remote openers to be programmed as well. The "tech" they sent out to program the remotes insisted that the remotes didn't work because the sensor or transmitter in garage door opener was broken and that we needed a new one for the price of $350-600 after just spending $750 with the company. He said he had been in the business for 20 years and knew what he was talking about and that we certainly needed a new one. We paid a second company to come out and check the transmitter/sensor and within one minute he had the remotes programmed and working with our existing garage door opener, magically! We called Precision back to let them know and ask that we be refunded the fee to have a second company come out to show us that our remotes worked... We expressed that we felt they tried to sell us something we did not need, of course he refuted, but also refused to reimburse us the $65 fee to have the other company come out and be HONEST with us.
We believe Precision garage door tried to scam us into purchasing an item we obviously did not need. We DO NOT recommend this company.
There are plenty of other garage door companies out there that are honest and i'm sure offer great customer service.
The opener that we went to program was very old and was not taking/holding the program for the new remotes that we brought out nor the customers existing keypad. The technician that came out to program these has been in the communications/electronics field for over 30 years while also serving in the US Navy in this field. This gentleman has the utmost integrity and will never try to sell something to someone that wasn't needed. This customer also thought that it was necessary to name my technician as a "Grumpy Old Man". Proves what kind of person this is.
If the tech was telling the truth, and he was experienced as you say, then why is it working now with little effort from another company.
It is because your techs will take something like misaligned sensors or loose wires and turn it into a new operator install with all their sales skills because that is what you trained them to do. It has absolutely nothing to do with their skill set, it is all about money, not the customer service.
I do not blame the techs for the most part they are brought in with no experience and trained this way so they have no idea they are really doing wrong in the beginning, but check the turnover rate of the techs and you will see they change quite often, either they got a conscience or they are not meeting the up sell expectations, or of course they are really bad at their job.
As for labeling the Tech as a grumpy old man, that was because the customer was not falling for his salesmanship on the new operator and he was getting mad. very unprofessional.
This is a Garage door company and is trying to bad mouth another company without knowing much about the company and its standard on customer service . We are a "A " rated company by BBB, none pending complaints with ROC, none with the any other local agencies. We never bad mouth a company which is our competition. We have complete transparencies with the web based businesses these days. I wish your company good luck in 2011 and hope you do well. It is all about competing in a professional manner - Charan Gohlwar
I hope everyone had a chance to the see DATELINE NBC tonight and watch the "Hansen Files" If you missed it, go to http://insidedateline.msnbc.msn.com/_news/2011/05/12/6630375-may-15-the-hansen-files?threadId=3126717&commentId=54204428#c54204428 Chris Hansen exposed unethical / criminal business practices and "precision Garage Doors" was one of the perpetrators. I hope this prompts more people to come forward and speak out against unethical companies such as "precision Garage Doors"
Media has to make simple things sensational for people to view and improve their rating . Issues I disagree with NBC are : (1) The two car wide door should have 1/2 HP opener . This is a track home and the contractor put a contractor special which was 1/3 Hp opener meant for single car garage door. (2). The Force settings on the opener for up and down travel should be 3 Kilo Grams. This opener had a Force setting of 8 Kilo Grams. Will damage the car easily. (3). Chris said a newly installed opener, but the date documented by the Technician is 2007. (4 ) There was clutter around the Eye sensors . There should be 36 " clearance recommended by the manufacturer of the opener. Media has filtered the facts to make their story sensational. Lets stick with the facts.
Yes Rajaa, let's stick to the fact indeed- if "Precision Overhead Garage Door Service" was not trying to scam anyone, then they would have brought up the points you just mentioned- but they didn't. They LIED to the lady and tried to scam her out of her money. Funny how companies like this don't admit they're wrong, offer an apology, and try and implement actual ethics moving forward. You should be shut down and out of business, Precision con artists...
Our technician in FACT DID try to relay all of this information to the homeowner, but she was always on the phone and the others their would not let him get to her. But they didn't bother to show that on the air. It would have made their story less sensational.
Then what is your explanation for the fact that your thieving "technician" salesman was trying to scam her by telling her she needed a new unit when in fact she did not? Your lame excuse does not in any way explain away the fact that you guys try and rip people off in the worst way. Shame on you...have you no soul?
I have said this on many threads and I will say it again for all of those who do not know it, Precision personel are trained and tought to never ever admit guilt, they are tought how to turn the problem around and appear to be your (the home owner/complainer) fault, and they NEVER NEVER NEVER refund money back for any reason.
Not to worry though every Valid company out there is watching the date line smackdown of Percision and saying FINALLY somebody has shown the world what we have been trying to warn the public about. I will tell you now they are definatly not the only one out there with out scruples but in all my years in the industry they are the worst because they are organized and because they sell it as a franchise they can claim it is just a rouge tech or franchise. but in practically every city they are in you hear the very same complaints about the very same franchises. Where I live thier goal is to sell the customer a 700.00 dollar spring change even if the call was for an operator issue like the sensors deal on dateline, they will just convince the customer that they cannot address the operator issue untill the door is working properly and the only way that is possible is to change the whole torsion system, really? if you are interested in more complaits from this company just check this site there are several under precision.
The internet is full of complaints for Precision, they are the worst of the worst. Just pure ###.
This company is absolutely trying to scam their customers. I agree with all of the above complaints and will not use their services in the future.
Everyone in the Phoenix area garage door industry knows that Precision is the worst company in the valley. We just pray each day that no one calls them, because they are going to get cheated if they do. Precision gives the whole industry a bad name, but the state lets them continue to operate. Their unethical business practices are very common among foreigners who come to this country and do not have Christian values. The other bad guy in the Chris Hansen video seemed to have an eastern european accent. I am glad that Precision got caught in this sting. Now the consumers will know what the other companies in the valley have known all along, " If you want to get screwed, call Precision." Note: The opener the Precision tech tried to sell that lady in the video for $525 is sold every day all over town by other companies for $350, and if the board was really bad, that could have been replaced for about $150. I do not know if Muslims believe in Karma, but something from above sure made them look real bad in the eyes of the public. Maybe this is some sort of Devine payback for all the good people that they have cheated. Good luck in the future, Precision Garage Door Service.
The previous post was obviously created by a competitor of Precision Door Service. Precision had been in business for nearly 10 years in the valley and is growing, in a down economy, because they take care of their customers. As a result the competitors are loosing business and using underhanded tactics and making false accusations about Precision. And if, in fact, Wayneintexas you were a Christian you would not have made this hateful comment. Precision Door Service is a family owned, Christian business. As for Chris Hansen of Dateline, he has been exposed as a fraud who is only interested in making sensationalized productions to boost his ratings. Please don't hesitate to call Precision Door Service. They will fix your problem right, and stand behind their work.
Really, Chris Hansen has been exposed as a fraud? The only thing exposed as a fraud so far is Precision door Service, and that's a fact.
I was a precision door tech for more than a year. I was pressured to sell a $700.00 package to each customer, maintain a $5000.00 a week sales goal and never tell the customer the whole truth if it would hurt my sales. Precision is an awful company that really should be investigated on every level.
As a recent customer of Precision Garage Door I agree they try to up-sell new spring conversion systems. It is like dealing with a used car salesman. $700 was the amount I paid for changing Wayne Dalton springs to a conventional spring system. The pitch was that Wayne Dalton is out of business and do you want to take a a chance with fixing a system that might not have parts tomorrow? Of course Wayne Dalton is still in business and parts are available at reasonable prices. They also kept pushing a 10 year warranty but when you read the fine print it's only 90 days on labor. I believe the work was performed correctly but it was not cheap and these guys keep pushing expensive parts when they aren't needed.
Not doing any research, I had precision door come out to install a new opener. As soon as the tech got there he told me that my door was trashed and needed new springs and bearings. He could just "tell". He then got mad and said I was being argumentative when I was asking questions. Not that this matters, but the guy had awful grammar.
No need to do business with people like this. I just hope others find out about these guys before using them!
I agree 100% with the other technician. Precision is a bad apple, companies like this have ruined the garage door industry. I have been in this business for 26 years and these crooked commission paying companies need to go. All the techs are trained salesman not honest qualified doormen. Paid on commission and take home 25% of the invoice amount minus parts. The techs have to sucker the customer with upsells so they can make a living and are trained how to ripoff the customer by scaring them with unnecessary parts that don't need replacement. Sears garage doors does the exact same thing, I would know I worked for both Precision and Sears. Scam artists both companies that should be out of business and investigated by consumer affairs.
