They even used threatening language in their emails, saying that if the information wasn't received by a certain date, my background check might get cancelled or delayed. It was a complete mess.
I strongly advise against using Pre Employ for any of your hiring needs. They are a completely incompetent group of people who seem to take pleasure in making potential employees' lives a living nightmare. Save yourself the headache and find a different company to handle your background checks.
PreEmploy: A Disappointing Experience for Reference Checks
So, I had to use this company called PreEmploy for a reference check because the company I was applying to had no HR department (big red flag, am I right?). But, the thing is, none of my references knew who PreEmploy was. They were expecting a call from the company I was applying to, not some random place they had never heard of. One of my references works in cyber security, so when a different company called asking for information about me, she refused to give any because it wasn't who she was expecting to hear from.
And get this, PreEmploy didn't even try to schedule a time to talk to my references. They just cold-called them at random times, demanding information in a very impersonal way. I mean, come on, have some manners, right?
Now, I've been running my own business for 10 years, so I tried to explain to PreEmploy that I'm not a W2 employee, but rather a 1099 contractor. My references were companies and people I had contracts with. But, PreEmploy just didn't seem to understand this. They wasted time with my references, asking questions like "why doesn't she work there anymore?" Well, technically, I never worked there. We just had a contract together, and if the work aligns, we seek each other out again for future business.
Overall, PreEmploy just doesn't seem to grasp the concept of running background checks or substituting for an HR department. They come off as a weird internet jail calling, if you know what I mean. So, if you're looking for a reference check company, I would suggest looking elsewhere.
Pre-Employ.com Review: Poor Service and Customer Support, Would Not Recommend
I'm not one to write reviews about companies and their services, but I had a pretty frustrating experience with Pre-Employ.com. I needed a background check done and decided to give them a try. I placed my request on Tuesday the 25th and was told that I would receive the report within 3-5 business days.
After five business days had passed, I decided to call and check on the status of my report. They gave me some excuse and promised that I would receive it within 24 hours. But, to my disappointment, I still didn't receive anything.
I waited for another three days, which made it a total of eight business days (ten calendar days) since I had placed my request. At this point, I was fed up and requested a refund. To my surprise, I received a callback from the company just two hours after my call. They informed me that they had sent me my requested background check. However, when I checked my email, there was nothing there.
I told them that they were misinformed and that I wanted my refund. But, the lady refused and resent an email granting me access to my background check. Finally, at 5:26 pm PST, I received an email confirmation resetting my password.
I explained to the lady that the services were not provided in the time period I was promised. This was a time-sensitive issue, and I would not pay for information that was no longer necessary. But, once again, she refused my request for a refund.
This left me as a disgruntled customer who will never use this company's service again. And, with any luck, neither will any of you. Pre-Employ.com insisted that they would not provide me with a refund, but they just lost the $60 I paid them. My credit card company took care of the refund for me and will dispute the charge on my behalf.
Overall, I would not recommend Pre-Employ.com to anyone. Their service was not up to par, and their customer service was lacking. It's a shame that I had to go through all of this trouble just to get a simple background check done.
