sales scam
Bought an Acer Laptop under the assumption that it was a 6 month plan, with no payments, no interest, no finance charge. As long as you paid it off in 6 months, great deal? WRONG! Next thing I knew, I was receiving a payment schedule with a minimum payment of $14.00 a month on a 1 year plan at 28% interest. What do they think I am Stupid? Also, was given wrong $150 rebate address! What is this a rent to own business? I quit paying on the laptop because the value went away on the $549 laptop. Tried to take it back, SOORRRY! It's been too long, bend over! I don't think so! Any Lawyer's out there?

their service center destroyed my turntable
On March 6, 2008, I took my Lafayette professional grade turntable to the Radio Shack store in Casa Grande, AZ, and paid a $20 deposit. I later received a phone call from the service center in Murray, Utah, and was informed the phono cartridge replacement would be about $51, in addition to the deposit.
Some time later, I got a call from the store in Casa Grande that my turntable was back. I went in to pick it up and almost had a heart attack. My $200 to $300 turntable was a jigsaw puzzle. The plastic dust cover was broken, the counterweight had been removed from the tone arm, the turntable itself was off of the base, and the tone arm was under the turntable.
The manager of the store told me how he had packed the turntable for transport to the shop and it was reasonable. The manager of the shop claimed the unit had arrived damaged. Not from the way it was packed, it wasn't. The manager of the store was fantastic, he did everything he could to try to get the unit to work, but it would not play a record.
It was sent back to Murray, UT, and here it is, April 21, and still no word from the shop. All the turntable needed was a phono cartridge, and I trusted Radio Shack, as there is no other electronics service shops in our county. A phono cartridge and a foot. They said they could not find a foot, but I said that is no biggie, I have a few ways I can go on that. How hard is it to install a phono cartridge? Is it necessary to tear a machine to pieces to replaces a cartridge? I think not.

I just sent a hand held ham radio to Ft. Worth repair center today. Will surely let everyone in the world know how the service was. It just needs a battery replaced. Ron in Tucson
Actually that has happened to one of my customers before. I sent off a camera that was in good condition. Just needed the lens cleaned out because it wouldn't stay open long enough to take pictures...it came back to the store. I called the customer and we opened it up together and saw that the screen was completely cracked. We contacted the repair center and was told to take one off of inventory and replace it with hers. That's how we fix things in my region.
Correct me if im wrong... You claim the service center which you sent your broken turntable to (to be serviced) broke your already broken device...
Crack is bad mmmkay
virgin mobile top up service refusal!
I have been going to Radio Shack to have my cell phone topped up for three months now. Every time I top up, a particular girl helps me to add $40 to my cell phone account. No problem. Yesterday, July 16, 2007, 2:30 PM, I go in to top up my cell phone and she is not there. The representative behind the counter says he can only top up either $10, $30 or $50. I tell him I need only $40. He looks at me and says, "Like I said..." and repeats himself. I said, "Well, the other girl has been adding $40 to my account every month and that is what I need to cover my charges of $34.99 including taxes. $50 would be too much." Mind you, I am being nice to this gentleman and only trying to explain my needs exactly as I have phrased them here. He throws his hands up in the air, stands back from his register and with a sweeping gesture of his right arm towards his computer, yells, "Would you like to come back here and show me how to do my job!" I was horrified. I just looked at him and calmly said, "You don't have to be rude. You may not know how to enter $40, but the other girl does." and I walked out. I went home and called Virgin Mobile who confided that what the girl was doing was adding two $20 Top Ups to my account each month. Why couldn't he have done the same or offered that? I am still embarrassed every time I think of how he treated me.
well that's just bad customer service, but being a VM customer i thought about your situation and realized that you are getting taxed on each of those 20. top ups ($2.00 x2) then when u switch to the plan you are getting tax again ($3.00) so in total that's $7.00 in taxes. if you spent the little extra and get the $50.00 top up, in a couple of months u would have a balance on your account to cover one $34.95 +taxes plan, now that's what i would do, and that's customer service! helping you get the most of your money.
Hello Mrs. Bonaparte this is the girl who always does your top up. I had no idea that this happened to you. I cant believe someone would act that ignorant by yelling at you in front of customers. He should have suggested you either wait till I work again or politely state he isn't aware on how to add exactly 40 dollars. dont worry there is nothing to be embarrassed of when you know you didnt cause him to react in such a rude manner. Continue to come in and I will add your top up. It really doesn't bother me to treat people the way I would want to be treated. And adding the minutes on your phone doesn't stop me from helping other customers since I can actually add top in less than 1 minute.
As an employee of radioshack all I can say is "topping up" or "adding minutes" for the customer after they have purchased air time is an optional courtesy extended on our part. We aren't required by law to do it, nor do we have to do it. We just do it because we're feeling like being nice. If the store is empty, then sure, the employee can do it if they feel like it, but if the store is busy and there are other customers, we have to be fair to all the customers and help the others. Besides how hard is it for you to add the minutes yourself? It takes about a minute to do it. Again it is the employee's discretion whether to add your minutes for you after you bought them. But I know for a fact that we do have $20 top up options and that the girl who added your minutes just rung it up twice to make it add up to $40. The employee who yelled at you must be new or ignorant, or both, and you should report him to his manager. Even I must agree with you, as an employee of radioshack, that is horrible customer service.
very poor service!
On Monday July 9th 8:13 pm, my husband went to Radio Shack in Big Rapids, to purchase a cord for our computer, after asking the clerk Christina, if this cord was compatible for our computer, she assured he that it was what he need. He spend or $40.00 for this item, only to get it home, and it was not what we needed. I tried to return it today, and met a Clerk Christina, and told her I would like to return the item, which was unopened... She said I could not return it, because she accused me of it being opened. Then she took it to the back room, and after returning back to the front desk the item, was then not looking the same as I brought it back into the store, they had opened it in the back room, and then the clerk Christina returned back to the front, and again accused me of opening the item, and said it could not then be returned if opened. I again stated it had not been open, and that she was blindly calling me a liar. The mgr. then came out and claim the same that it had been opened, that was after the fact the employee to the item to the back room, and brought it back out, differently as I brought it in to return it. I'm furious that this company Radio Shack in Big Rapids Michigan, not only accused me of doing something that I didn't do, and would not refund my money. I will NEVER but from this store again. This is steeling from the consumer. I owe retail businesses, and the customer is always right. It is apparent that the only way Radio Shack is still in business, is because it pisses off its buying customers, and steals their money. Both the MGR, and Employee need to be fired from Big Rapids Radio Shack.
It seems that Radio Shack employees in DC are either poorly trained or simply rude. I purchased cell phone cases from Radio Shack in Virginia and been able to return them if they didn't fit - yet when I tried to open an easily closeable package at the 12th NW store I was told that I'm not allowed. The employee actually expected me to purchase the product without actually looking at it even though their was a definite possibility of it not being applicable and the package was easily re-closable. As I said at Virginia Radio Shack stores I have not had this problem so its either something with bad Management in DC or bad employees. I guess the moral of the story is avoid purchases in DC which by the way makes you walk out of the store without a bag as well. Its seems that the old saying of Southern hospitality has something to it after all.
So purchase it, open it right there, and return it promptly if it doesn't fit. Sheesh.
You state that in Virginia you were able to return cases if they didn't fit, but in the DC store you had not purchased the case yet. Are you sure that in Virginia they would have let you open the case in the store, prior to buying it? Did you ask if you could open the package, or just try to open it on your own? On another note, how many cell phone cases do you need to buy at Radio Shack that you don't already know what fits your phone?
I work for Radioshack and you CAN return the items if they are opened just as long as you have the packaging and the receipt within 30 days. And like Dan Feldman said, how do you all know it didn't work if you didn't take it out of the packaging? That's just common sense right there.
Had the same problem with radio shack. Bought a battery for a cordless phone, took it home and it was the wrong style. tried to take it back and they claimed the package was opened. Sorry I did not open it. I will never do business with Radio Shlock again.
The customer is not ALWAYS right.
I recently tried to buy a television at the Providence Place Mall store. I was the only customer in the store. A heavy set woman named Patti waited on me. She was disgusting. She was more interested in her phone call then in answering my questions. I needed some batteries and deceided I would look around some more before I made a big purchase of a TV. As I was trying to purchase the batteries she talked on the phone the whole time, (very rude when conducting business) I just walked out of the store and will never return as long as that fat, rude slob Patti works there!
And Christina was supposed to look in her crystal ball and have a vision of your entire computer setup and magically be able to guarantee that this is the correct one for you. She was going on the information your husband gave her, or probably didn't give her-- how many men aren't too proud to ask a female RS employee which is the right product for them? I'm sure he either gave her no info or wrong info, and how did you find out it was incompatible? Sounds like you opened it and tried it. It sounds like you still deserve a refund, but please don't stretch the truth or claim that your husband gave her all the right info when you weren't even there and have no clue.
I work for Radioshack, and I can tell you that our return policy says that you can return the item in like new condition with the opened package and the receipt within 30 days of buying it. We do accept products with the open package for returns. You should report the salesperson and the manager to their district manager if you really want anything done. And as a retail employee, I must disagree with you and say the customer is never right. We ALWAYS have customers that come in and try to pull a fast one on us. For instance, this one guy bought a Bluetooth HS850 and had brought his old one in to show us, which was broken. then a couple days later he tried to return his old one in the new packaging of the one he had bought from us, and get money back that he did not spend at a radioshack store. We flatly told him that that was the same broken bluetooth he had brought in a couple days earlier and we wouldn't return his bluetooth he bought at another store that was not rasdioshack. He promptly left, knowing that he'd been caught.
they don't give refunds on toys
We purchased a Robot for the kids for Christmas. We paid $199.99. We thought it would be a really cool gift. Until the kids opened the Robot on Christmas Eve and the Robot did not work.
Well we waited until the day after Christmas to take it back to Radio Shack. They would not take it back because 1 we bought it at a Franchise, and 2 they don't give refunds on toys. Mind you it don't say this on the receipt or do they tell you this when you buy the toys! Well we drove back to the Franchise Radio Shack about 54 miles and he refused to give us a refund. but could send it off to get fixed which could take 3 to 6 months maybe. I told him no I just want our money back. ( I paid cash big mistake) That my kids had already been disappointed in this Robot as I was and I was tired of the run around and just wanted my money back to get them something else. Well he stated he was the owner and that all Radio Shacks don't give refunds on toys. Well we now have a Robot just sitting on a shelf. Buyers beware don't buy from Radio Shack.

RadioShack Your mission is good but I guess I am one of your unsatisfied customer that has not been treated right.
I Bought a Cell Phone about 3 months ago the sales person name Richard in your Washington Blvd. Los Angeles, CA is not doing his job. he said he will waive the Activation fee if I buy the phone from radioshack instead of buying from company, and I have to wait for a week before I got the phone what a promise.
I am so disappointed with Richard at Radioshack service.
Oh! it's been 3 months still didn't get the activation waive that he said he'll take care of it.

Went to radio shack in Westminster Md. sign reads broadband 2go 69.99.sale price. wanted to buy this product/ rang it up .79.99 said no sign says 69.99 .sales person (very nice ) says it's an old tag. ok.I can understand old tag. one day old maybe two.but this tag says 8/27.it is now 9/5, now if you are so slow in removing your tags . I should have gotten it for 69.99. (my opinion). this is not good business. (my opinion).I know this is not going to get me anywhere or thing but I do feel better.Thank you.
Radio Shack is the worst customer service ive ever experienced.
We bought some credit for our pay as you go phone and THEY printed out the wrong pin receipt. We took it back, they admitted the reciept was wrong so we asked for a new one or a refund. Apparently the it was the computers mistake and not Radio Shacks, i just laughed at them thinking i was on candid camera. They were deadly serious.
Easily the biggest bunch of jokers ive ever come accross working in a store. I took great pleasure in telling everyone in the shop how they deal with complaints for at least an hour.
I went to the Radio Shack in Francis Scott Key Mall, Frederick, MD to buy iTunes gift cards on 04/13/2010. After one employee rang them up, I gave them my Radio Shack gift cards. That employee went inside and brought another employee outside whose name is Joey. Then Joey started asking me what is my name and my information which I gave him. Then he asked me what is my home address which I refused to give him since I don’t think it is needed for a transaction paid by gift cards. I asked to speak to the manage on duty. Amanda, the manager, came out and explained to me that something fraud is going on and Radio Shack needs to verify all gift card transactions. I said that’s fine and gave her my gift cards so that she can do any verification she wanted. Amanda called somebody and told me she waited for him to call her back. After waiting for 15 minutes, nothing happened. No one called her back and she did not try to do anything. I told her that I was not going to waste my time to wait endlessly to be able to spend my gift cards. She just simply ignored and let me know I could not use my legitimate gift cards. Both the manager and employees are rude and lack of customer service orientation. I am going to file a complaint to Radio Shack corporate and BBB.
to cairo egypt,
who the hell cares about your opinion all people from your area are rude and smell stay out of the usa we dont like you
We purchased a video camera from Radio Shack. When we tried to record something we noticed that the camera did not have a standard feature such as "zoom". We went to the store to return it and the joke was that the employee must be a "pseudo" loyal employee as he proceeded to list all items that camera did not have - "that anyone would consider standard". He even said that he would not mention all the defect but based on the price that customer should not expect the video camera to record any image.
However, we had all the components and receipt but not the box. He refused to accept the return even thou he remember selling us the camera two days prior to this event.

This is Noha from Egypt. I have always gone to Radio Shack for the products, but I do not think I will for the customer service wich is really bad starting from the moment you walk in where the security leans over a desk and stares at you and the shop assistant is as stern as if his wife has beaten him with slippers. This is as relates to Radio Shack Cairo, Egypt. I guess it would be really better to either do without the security and the shop assistants and cut down on staff costs or you will have no female customers stepping in your stores. Note: this complaint took place on March 23 2008 around 4:30 pm.
Take care.
Get this guys. I wish I would have followed everyones advice to stay out of Radio Shack.
Purchased a Bell 995 Radar Detector. First one, had apparently been opened, I went right back in and got another one.
Week later I decided the detector sucked. I had all my packaging, including the plastic wrap it came in. Went to 4 different radio shacks, and guess what, NONE OF THEM HAD ENOUGH MONEY TO COVER THE DETECTOR. Ok, either it is a scam to not give the money back. or the do piss poor buisness.
Hell the local mom and pop gas station does enough buisness to cover $300.00.
Now I have to wait for a refund check, that may never come. But I will take whatever legal action I have to to make them pay the money they owe me. And I will hit every message board with my opinion on this franchise!
"Checks in the mail"
Just a little idea for you, company stores are required to take back items purchased at a franchise store if they carry the same item...
no rebate received!
I purchase a TV from local Radio Shack less than 30 days ago. The TV came with a $200.00 Rebate. Well to make a long story short my Wife threw the Box out before I could get the UPC Code.
In order to get the refund u need the Original UPC Code from the Box. I emailed the rebate center and they in essence said too bad. They did verify that the UPC Code is on the receipt and they are requesting the UPC Code to prevent Fraud. I explained to them that I would provide any document they needed to prove that this was a valid claim incl. the Radio Shack Credit Card statement that I had opened the same day i made the purchase. I understand that they have certain requirements but the Bottom line is that it is only ONE UPC Code per rebate. Is there anything that I can do or am I SOL! I thought about going to Small Claims Court and filing a Claim! Thanks for any info you can give Good or bad!

I placed 2 orders for 2 different size fuses on May 5. I received a confirmation email for both but no tracking. I have attempted to contact radio shack customer support several times with no response. The website shows both shipments paid and “unfulfilled”. I just tried to submit this and was advised my complaint was too short.
I have tried to call them but the number I found is not listed,
I would like this monthly bill deleted from my credit card.
The number I tried was [protected] and that is the phone for RadioShack.
Amazon order# [protected]
Product received Jan 16, 2019. The battery compartment will not stay shut and the unit will only transmit FM band (No AM). Would like to know if there is any way to get a replacement unit. Please advise, Thanks, T Benz
We were sold phone cords and offered a lifetime warranty for a extra 20$
Then the store filed bankruptcy...
so what do we do with our 35$ cords +20$ for warranty with no more ratio shack?!
This seems like a last minute scam before the company closed. Very unfair.
TA I really hope you haven't tried to take this to small claims court because you would get NOTHING for it. It was your wife that threw the box away that had the UPC on it NOT radioshack. That'd just be a waste of time.
Hello. I perchased 2 items from radio shack on december 14 2007..both items came with seperate rebate offers. The dvd vcr combo came with 10$ mial in rebate..the second item 5.1 mp camcoder came with 30$ mial in rebate..i filled out all paper work perfictly and taped upc code on the reciepts and mialed them off on december 17 2007..both offers was denied..the 10$ rebate was denied and not returned to me the paper work..the second offer was also denied and i did recieve paper work back on that one with a letter say sorry but incomplete..after several trips back to the store where i perchesed items and a conversation with rebate department on the phone i was told that would be approved for both rebates..i did recieve the 10$ rebate on march 10th..agian i called rebate department and asked about the 30$ rebate and was told by a radio shack rebate rep..that there was never such a rebate for the product..radio shack lied to me..i did email radio shack on this problem and was told i did not allow enough time to be processed..and asked me not to email them back because it would only slow down the process..how can they process my information if they mailed it back to me..
Moral of the story: DON'T THROW OUT THE BOX and then blame us for your shortcomings, when it was YOU that lost the UPC code.
I purchased a Sirius Receiver and Boombox from Radio Shack on 12/8/06 as a Christmas gift. The Receiver had a Sirius rebate which I have received. The Boom Box had a $40 Radio Shack Rebate. The paperwork indicated that purchase had to be made by 12/31/06. Everything was submitted in accordance with their forms but I received a letter stating the purchase was made outside of the purchase period which they stated was 12/03/06. The date 12/31/06 is in 2 places on the rebate form. I re-submitted and am still waiting for a response. Anyone else have this problem?

The RadioShack AnswersPlus card does have a high interest rate but in the 5 years I have worked there, we have almost never had 6 months no interest, no payments. Its either 90 days no interest, no payments or 1 year minimum payment, no interest. Perhaps you should read better before signing up for a credit card.
So you assume your on 6 month contract and thats RadioShack's fault? They have a 30 day return policy that is more then enough time to deide weither you want somthing or not.
