Rands Mechanical was to be our contractor to repair our hot tub under the First American Home Warranty
Rands Mechanical was to be our contractor to repair our hot tub under the First American Home Warranty. I filed the claim on 5/6/22. They did not contact me, I had to reach out to them. They sent someone out to look at the tub and nothing after that. I called and texted numerous times with a reply stating they would file the report and never did. I called First American and they said as of couple days ago Rands is no longer a contractor for no communication.
Rand mechanical was referred by our home warranty for our first house
Rand mechanical was referred by our home warranty for our first house. Our furnace decided to stop working during this winter. It was a weekend and the owner texted us asking if we could wait till the next day of business. Seeing that our temp in the house was starting to go below 50 we asked if he could have someone sooner. He called one of his techs and had them out the next hour. The technician had great customer service and figured out what was wrong with the furnace within about 30-45min. I have read other reviews about this company complaining about how parts are on back order but that's most likely due to covid. That is in no way their fault. I recommend this company. If I need furnace repairs in the future they will be the first place I call.
It took eight days for them to arrive. Their visit lasted merely ten minutes, during which they concluded that my free-standing ice maker was beyond repair. They promised to reach out to the manufacturer that very night before departing. However, a month has passed, and according to the manufacturer, they have yet to make contact or provide an update. The manufacturer insists on not replacing the ice maker until they receive the necessary communication. I am far from pleased with this situation.
My home warranty company was using him to work on my home he came to give a quote for the work. Never turned it in for over a month then after a call or weekly text he turned in a false quote on what caused my electrical issue saying I cut the wires. I do not trust them and will not recommend them

Similar to recent reviewer John F, Rands was assigned under American Home Shield warranty company to look at my dishwasher. I had to reach out to Rands and once I was able to get ahold of them after a few tries, it took a couple more opportunities to get them to come out to my house to perform a diagnosis. Once here, the contractor immediately knew what was wrong and said he would submit the paperwork to AHS to approve before ordering anything. Going on 4 weeks now, still nothing submitted, so I will move onto another contractor. In the process of getting a new contractor assigned. Rands is unreliable and unresponsive. At least have the courtesy to pass the job onto another contractor if you're busy. Choose someone else through your warranty company if you have the option.
Rands Mechanical is a dishonest person
Rands Mechanical is a dishonest person. Took forever to get him to my home to inspect why my stove and hood were not working. He took pictures and ordered parts. The parts were delivered to his home address. He said he never received them even though there was proof it was delivered to him. The company ordered my parts again and had them sent to me this time. Now I can not get him to call me back to schedule this repair. Rands Mechanical, if you're not interested in doing warranty work then you should quit doing it instead of disappointing your potential customers. This is why you have so many bad reviews. You are unprofessional and a bad business owner. Bad reviews are the worst thing you can do to a company. You should have learned from your first bad review. You disappoint.
We hired Rands two separate times through two different warranty companies
We hired Rands two separate times through two different warranty companies. He did both jobs for us flawlessly, even though one warranty company is not paying him. He sometimes gets blamed for unfinished work when in reality it's the warranty company who hasn't fulfilled their obligation. On our most recent job, he came out to look at our stove and while he was here, helped me install my dishwasher panel (this had nothing to do with the work order). There was a follow up needed on the stove and again he provided an additional service that was above and beyond what he was hired to do... and still the warranty company hasn't paid him.His kindness and willingness to finish the job went a long way with me. It's not how you start it's how you finish and I was very impressed with the finished work that Rands provided for us. I will definitely hire him again on my own, without a warranty company involved.
Our microwaves light quit working so I put in a service request with AHS
Our microwaves light quit working so I put in a service request with AHS. They assigned Rands Mechanical to the service call and the $125 for the service call was immediately taken out of my bank account. After 4 days of no contact from Rands, I called them directly to schedule the service call. John came out to the house the next day. I told him about the issue with the light and he said that he would need to check over the microwave in its entirety. He took out a meter of some kind and took measurements while the microwave was running. He then proceeded to tell me that the microwave was putting out too much radiation & would need to be replaced. However, he never sent the information to AHS to have the replacement covered. In the meantime, per John's recommendations, I contacted Whirlpool to advise them of Scotts findings. They scheduled another service call to have it checked out. The certified repairman for Whirlpool came out to the house and took measurements with a radiation counter while the microwave was running and advised that the microwave was not putting out too much radiation and was perfectly safe to use. He even showed me the readouts on the radiation counter, something John did not do. He was able to easily diagnose the issue with the light, which was the reason for the original service call. I was able to contact AHS and report the fraudulent findings that John gave me. Fortunately, he never filed the report with AHS so I was able to get the service call refunded. I will NEVER allow this company in my home again. He knowingly and fraudulently took the money for the service call, which equates to stealing in my book.
This past Thursday, our refrigerator randomly stopped cooling
This past Thursday, our refrigerator randomly stopped cooling. Its sitting at a steady 72 right now, both fridge and freezer. We contacted First American and they assigned us a contractor, Rands Mechanical LLC in Mount Vernon, OH and they told us he had us on the schedule for Monday. (As in this past Monday) My husband emailed him twice over the weekend and called to leave a voicemail asking what time he would be out Monday. We never heard back. So Monday came and went, we called First American again, they placed us on hold and called the owner, who said that he would be in touch with us by the end of the day. No calls. My husband called him and he text him midway through the phone ringing to tell my husband he would rather text instead. My husband texted, Any update on coming out to fix our refrigerator? Nothing. That is when we decided to begin calling places nearby and were willing to pay for it out of our own pocket. No business in the area will help us with our fridge because it is a commercial, built in refrigerator, as we live in a rather large home. At that point, I called First American back, they told us this was the contractor they were using and we needed to wait on him to call us. We called and called. But they call and he answers them right away. He told them that he would definitely be in touch with us and never has. I spoke with someone from First American this morning telling them how disappointed I was in the lack of customer service. We are going on 1 week with no refrigerator, we have nowhere to keep cold food because its so cold outside it will just freeze. They reassured me that he would be out soon. I told them I didnt want him in my home, I dont trust him and dont have faith that he knows what he is doing, after what we have been through with him this past week. My husband and I are now paying a contractor ourselves to come fix our refrigerator, out of our own pocket.

Was assigned to this company by a friend who had previously used their services. Been two weeks and I have been unable to contact them by phone, text, or email. Not very reliable. If their work is anything like their scheduling ability, we'll never have a refrigerator.

It took 8 days for them to get here. They were here 10 minutes, said my free standing ice maker couldn't be repaired, said he would contact the manufacturer that night and left. It's been a month and according to the manufacturer he still has not contacted them and gave them a status. I will not replace the ice maker until he does. Not very happy at all.

I was assigned to have Rand Mechanical come out and inspect and repair my refrigerator by my home warranty company on May 13th. They said that the technician would contact me within 24-48 hours after being assigned to my service request. I had to call my warranty company on May 17th to have them confirm when they were supposed to arrive for my service request. When the technician arrived he seemed very proficient in diagnosing the problem and said that he would submit the request to have a new refrigerator to replace my faulty one. It has been over 3 weeks since he was out and he still hasn't submitted any type of report to my home warranty company. At this point the home warranty company has had to assign a new technician to come out and review my service request. This will put me without a properly working refrigerator with 2 children for over a month. I would not trust Rand Mechanical to provide prompt service for any client, their own or clients assigned by a third party.
