Awful
I booked a room in a hotel through HotelTravel and few days later called the hotel to verify my stay. I had some problems in the past with online booking, so I just wanted to make sure that everything was fine. But they had no knowledge or confirmation of my booking. They said that HotelTravel never contacted them and they had no information about me. But when I contacted HotelTravel they said that my room was confirmed by the hotel. The hotel had no knowledge about anything! I cancelled my reservation and booked through another company. I am usually a smart consumer and take some time to make a little research. This was my fault for booking a room via HotelTravel. Don't deal with this company.
Fraud
This company is a fraud. Do not use them. I was attempting to use this company to book a hotel room for an upcoming vacation. After filling out my credit card information I was sent to an error screen informing me that the room was no longer available. This would all be fine, but then I received a call this morning from my Fraud Prevention Department of my credit card that I am still being charged for my room. I never received confirmation for the room reservation/booking and the company doesn't have any information that I made a reservation despite me explaining they have already withdrawn money from my account they are straight up denying doing so. The disturbing part about it is that the website Kayak.com prompted me to the hoteltravel.com site and after further investigation I am by no means the only victim of this site. Why would Kayak.com allow a scam company like hoteltravel.com to participate in their group search?
I agree the same thing happend to me in Canada. Leaving on a trip and ended up cancelling my credit card no response once credit info added. Tried phoning, no answer, and would not leave a message. totally upset as leavng in a few days. I too received from search engine website trivago...
Charged for Room not Rented
I was directed to HotelTravel.com through using Kayak to find a hotel room for a trip in October 2015. When I went to book the room I was sent to an error screen where I was informed that the room was no longer available. To my surprise I was still charged for the hotel room with the charge going through my banking account. I never received confirmation of a booking. Upon calling the customer service line to report this error none of the phone lines worked except the international line in Thailand, despite their claims of having 24 hr service in my country. The woman found my name in the system, but said that she also could not find a confirmation number. She then said that the company never charged me for the room. She would not transfer me to a manager saying that they do not have managers in Thailand. She said that they would have to cancel my reservation. I asked her to cancel my reservation on the spot, and she said they couldn't because there wasn't a reservation. The confusing communication continued in emails with them saying they don't see my name in their system, even though their customer service agent had just told me that she could see my name in the system 10 mins earlier. So I am left being charged for a hotel room. Do not use them! Do not make the mistake I did.
Fake booking number and stolen money
I booked the room in the hotel through the website www.hoteltravel.com, and 4 days before the booked day, I received the booking number. When I arrived to hotel, it turned out that no room was available for my name. I showed the booking number, but the receptionist told that it was fake. So be careful and don’t book hotels from this website. Please, if someone here had the same experience, can you help to return money back?
Do not use this company! Upon trying to book a hotel through HotelTravel.com I received an error message telling me that the room was no longer available. That would all be fine except that they continued to charge my credit card. My Fraud Prevention department called telling me that the charge went through. Furthermore, they did not provide me with a confirmation email telling me that they have charged my card, and the customer service agent told me that she will not do so either. She would not transfer me to her manager, and the only working phone line available was in Thailand, so I had to make an international call at that. Do not get cheated out of money like I did. Stay away from this company.

Dear Juliiett,
Greetings from HotelTravel.com and thank you for your post.
Please kindly note HotelTravel.com secures rates via local business partners which secure room allotments in bulk. When a booking is confirmed via HotelTravel.com, one room out of that allotment is blocked off for you, and will be reserved for your arrival. However, to avoid confusion with ongoing booking changes, hotels normally request our business partners to forward the guest name details approximately 1 week prior to arrival. However, as noted in our FAQ section (link below), if you wish to have your booking details forwarded sooner we are able to request this and we will then reply with the hotel's internal confirmation number.
