I hired Mr. Plumber of Howell, NJ - a licensed plumber and home improvement contractor. He did repairs in my home. When one of the items he repaired was not working, I called him and explained the situation. He put me off for at least 6 weeks - one excuse after another. I had to hire an electrician to make the repairs and, naturally, pay him for hi...

Mr. Plumber Negligence

If you hire Mr. Plumber, Howell, NJ, be careful. I thought I hired a licensed master plumber to work on my bathroom. Mr. Plumber and his assistant broke my main water valve. My basement was flooded and they took no responsibility. They turned off my neighbor's water instead of mine causing more water to flood my basement. Mr. Plumber took no responsibility for his negligence. I was on my own. Mr. Plumber did not even have the decency to to call back to see how we were doing, until after complaints were made. Mr. Plumber told his insurance company that the flood was my fault because my valve was rotted. Bunch of BS. I am fighting with his insurance company to get my expenses reimbursed. Beware of Mr. Plumber, Howell, NJ

Mr. Plumper is tring to scam my 80 yr old mother out of her retirement money.

Let's start with June 11th

Mr. Plumper was called to my mother’s house to repair a water leak next to the water meter by the street. When the repairman came out, he told my mother that the underground water main from the meter to the house needed to be replaced. He also told her that the line was polybutylene pipe. She told him to fix the leak. He repaired the water line and charged her $529 for digging a 12”D x 10”L x 10”W hole around the leak. He installed a 3/4" valve and about 8" of 3/4" copper tubing 2 copper fittings and 2 pvc fittings.

That is not the problem.

Let’s move forward in time to July 2nd.

Water is leaking again next to the water meter. She calls Mr. Plumper back out. It’s a different repairman this time. He removes the dirt from around the leak and then tells my mother that the polybutylene pipe is leaking and that he can repair it again for $500 and that we may have to do it again and again because the polybutylene pipe will just keep springing new leaks. He gives her a quote to replace the polybutylene pipe for $6000 or repair the leak that she has now for $500.

This is where the problems start.

First problem: Mr. Plumper wants to charge my mother $500 for the new leak on July 2.
The leak that occurred in July is a leak from where the first repairman threaded a copper male connector into a female pvc connector. He over tightened the threaded connectors. The leak was from where the treads on the pvc connector was split down the side. You can see the marks from where he had it clamped down in a vise when he over tightened the pieces together. Per MR.Plumper terms and conditions, all work is warranty for 1 year. It hasn't even been one month and they want $500 to repair their own work. I have pictures and video of this leak.

The same repairman in July also gave my mother a quote to replace 600 ft of underground main from the meter to the house. He told her that is was polybutylene pipe and it will keep springing new leaks. He would not be able to get to it until July 9.
Second problem:

My mother DOES NOT have polybutylene pipe.

She has 1-1/2” Silver-Line Sch80 PVC. It is printed on the pipe.

It's been 4 days since they were called back out. They still haven't fixed the leak on there work.

Mr. Plumber is the best local plumber that I've come across in ages. I've used him for my entire home renovation and I will never use anyone else. Anyone who claims that he is unlicensed or dishonest is wrong. Cheap, lying people like the one above are the people that cause insurance premiums to be so outrageous and cause a hard working man to lose business and money. John, the owner, is honest and works right along with his team and I trust him and have recommended him to everyone I know in need of plumbing work. And each person that I know that has used him has nothing but positive things to say. His prices are fair and the work is superior to any other, and believe me, before deciding who would earn the job of my renovation, I met with many plumbers. I happen to have come to know John and his staff quite well over the course of the renovation and can vouch for the fact that a scam artist he is NOT. Homeowners try to pinch pennies whenever possible and swoop in on the chance to blame someone else for their problems and to have them paid for by an insurance company. The bottom line is, homeowners are responsible for what happens in their home, not the people they hire. It's a shame that one cheap, lazy homeowner can post a comment like the one above with no concept of the ramifications. I hope that spreading unfounded rumors like the one above makes you feel really great about yourself. Don't you have anything better to do besides sit at the computer and attack an honest, hard working business man? Maybe, instead of typing nasty comments or chasing insurance money that doesn't belong to you, you should spend more time on your home and its upkeep! You'd probably have less rotted valves if you spent as much time on your home as you do spreading lies!
