Twinbore Agencies (Pty) Ltd Price Gouging

At Twinbore, there is no price tag on any of the items for sale. Hendry, the owner, makes up prices depending on his mood, on how business went that day, on how you're dressed, etc. - resulting in prices at least 20% higher than any other similar shops in the country.

Moreover, Hendry would not hesitate to sell you something that is not adapted to your needs or not even needed. He sold me an overpriced Swarovski Z5 3.5x18 for target shooting and short-medium distance hunting while he knew perfectly well that the parallax cannot be adjusted for distances inferior to 55m. When I said that to other airgun shops, they laughed a lot.

The quality of customer service is also appalling. He doesn't reply to complaints and always comes up with the same excuse (he was travelling overseas).

PLEASE AVOID THIS SHOP AND DO YOUR HOMEWORK BEFORE BUYING ANYTHING. THERE ARE WAY CHEAPER SHOPS IN JNB AND PRETORIA.

Twinbore Agencies (Pty) Ltd Overcharged

On Saturday 2 July 2011 on recommendation of someone, I visited Twinbore Agencies (Pty) Ltd a gun shop at Nicol Grove, Fourways, Sandton with the intention to buy a Swarovski rifle scope. Hendry showed me the scopes that they had and recommended a Swarovski Z3 4-12x50 BT. Twin Bore charged me R17 000 for the scope and Hendry assured me that this is a very good price. I was in a hurry for a new scope and did not check the prices for this rifle scope at other gun shops in Johannesburg. I also trusted Hendry from Twinbore – what a big mistake, as he is clearly a opportunist that is more interested in making a quick buck than retaining customers.
Subsequent to buying the Swarovski rifle scope from Twinbore Agencies, I checked the prices of other fire arm dealers in SA. The prices of three other fire arm dealers for exactly the same scope ( Swarovski Z3 4-12x50 BT ) were R11 500, R11 735 and R12 000 respectively. Twinbore clearly overcharged me with R5 000. The price from Twinbore was 43% more than the cheapest alternative.
On Monday 4 July a confronted Hendry from Twin bore with the facts and requested him to bring his price on line with the market price for a Swarovski Z3 4-12x50 BT rifle scope. He refused. Later that same week, I requested Hendry from Twinbore to cancel the transaction and I would return the scope – again the refused.
Today it is almost standard practise for large retailers to refund the difference between the price paid and that of other retailers – but clearly Twinbore has not awakened to good customer service and would rather cheat customers by inflating their prices. It is behaviour like this from Twinbore Fourways that cause customers to rather support large retailers.
If you want to do business with Twinbore Fourways, please ensure that you beforehand check the prices that other gun shops ask, or you may also be overcharged. Or better still avoid buying from Twinbore Agencies, Fourways

I've had good experiences on both occasions. If you dont like the price dont buy it. lazy persons who come later and demand discount is ridiculous I dont blame anyone not wanting to refund or reduce prices.

Dear All -

This shop is to be avoided at any price.

Hendry is a crook who will try to sell you the most expensive items by any means. I ended up spending close LSL 40, 000 for an air rifle and its scope which would have costed me at least 25% less in other shops of Jo'burg or Pretoria. I also had to go numerous times to the shop because the two first rifles he gave were clearly dysfunctional and I suspect he knew it.

You'll also notice there is no price labels on the products he is selling, which allows him to adjust his prices according to the client.

I also agree with the fact that the guy and his assistant have no idea about customer service - they hardly say hi when you go to their shop and are very unfriendly to say the least.

Agree had a bad experience with them a few years back won't set my foot in that place ever again :(((
