Mixed Experience with Ring Doorbell Pro and Floodlight: Good Motion Detection, but Frustrating Connectivity and Response Time
I've been using Ring Doorbell Pro and Ring Floodlight for about 7 months now. The motion detection on both is pretty good and with a paid subscription, you can save up to 6 months worth of video clips. The "Live View" feature on the phone is also quite handy, but it doesn't always work as expected.
However, there are a few issues that I've faced with these devices:
1. The time it takes to answer motion or a ring at the doorbell is way too long. By the time the video pops up, the person ringing the doorbell is long gone. I hardly ever get to see who is ringing the doorbell, let alone speak to them. So, it's pretty much useless in that regard.
2. Both my units have randomly disconnected for unknown reasons, and it was quite frustrating to get them to reconnect. Even though the Wi-Fi signal was fine, I had to buy an extender to get them to work.
3. Even when there's no motion detected, and I just want to do a live view, it's still hit and miss whether or not the video will pop up quickly. Sometimes it does, but more often than not, it doesn't. As mentioned earlier, if it has already detected motion or someone has already rung the bell, then it's almost certain to not come up in a timely manner.
4. After only 7 months of use, the doorbell has completely died. It's dead, no lights, no anything. Dealing with customer support was quite frustrating, and it felt like pulling teeth. They kept asking me to test the voltage at the door, which was fine (20VAC). I even tried disconnecting the unit and reconnecting it after 10 minutes, but it didn't work. I found out by searching the net that there's a hidden micro-USB port on the Ring Doorbell Pro, and I tried hooking it up to the PC, but still no power. Finally, they agreed to send me a replacement, but it took a lot of back and forth emails or chats, and the delay in between responses was horrendous.
Overall, the motion detection and auto recording features are nice for peace of mind, but they're usually after the fact to prove something. If you want to see and respond in real-time, then it's not so great. After having owned them for a while, I think I would have tried other options first. Hopefully, now that Amazon is acquiring Ring, we'll see some much-needed improvement in the future.
Ring Review: Good Camera, Terrible Software and Sensors, Not Worth the Money
I gotta say, I really wish I had stumbled upon these reviews before I went ahead and bought this Ring thing. It's a real piece of junk, if you ask me. But let me break it down for you.
First off, the camera resolution is pretty good. You can see stuff in the foreground and background pretty clearly, and it switches to black and white at night. That's a plus. And the installation process is pretty straightforward, both for the hardware and software. And the battery life is pretty decent, even when you've got it set to use more battery power.
But let me tell you, the software is a real pain in the butt. It's not intuitive at all, and it takes forever to find what you're looking for. And the sensors are just terrible. They hardly ever detect motion accurately, and they're always giving false alarms. And forget about trying to watch live events - the system is always freezing up and losing connection. By the time you actually see what's going on, it's already too late to do anything about it.
And don't even get me started on the Ring "Protection" plans. They charge you extra to store your recorded events on the cloud, and it's just not worth it. And if you want to use your peephole cam and doorbell while your battery is charging, you have to buy a whole other battery pack. What a pain.
All in all, I'd say this product is not worth your time or money. It's just not ready for prime time, if you ask me. You'll just end up frustrated and regretful. If you do end up buying one, the only thing you have to look forward to is returning it and getting your money back.
Ring Cameras Hacked: A Terrifying Invasion of Privacy and Amazon's Lack of Accountability
Someone hacked into my cameras this week and it was a terrifying experience. It happened at around 1:40am on Tuesday night and then again the following night at roughly the same time. The hacker even spoke to me through the 2-way speaker in a whisper, calling me by my full name and saying he was coming over. It was a complete invasion of my privacy and left me feeling scared and vulnerable.
I am extremely disappointed with the way Ring is handling the matter. This device is marketed as a security device, but it is vulnerable to hackers and criminal activity, which defeats the purpose of purchasing it in the first place. Ring cameras are being used against its customers by terrorists who are not being held accountable. Amazon needs to take responsibility and be accountable to its consumers.
If you are still using this device, make sure you have a firewall, VPN, 2-step authentication, reset your Ring password frequently, reset your Amazon password frequently, set up 2 step sign in for your Amazon as well, and reset your WiFi password and WiFi name. However, I would recommend getting a real security system instead of using Ring.
I tried notifying my Ring Neighbors, but Ring denied me the ability to warn my community. It is concerning that Amazon is not actively preventing criminal activity on their Ring platform and is misleading the public. In the state of California, you need two consenting parties to a recording, and when Amazon is not proactively preventing this from happening, they are a willing participant in the crime committed against their consumers.
It is frustrating that I am only able to post about lost dogs or stolen Amazon packages on the Ring community and not about a real crime that was committed against me in my own home with the Ring product. Ring needs to take this matter seriously and provide better security measures for its customers.
Ring's Customer Service is a Nightmare: A Review of My Experience
I tried to order a two pack of the Spotlight Cameras Wired from Ring today. But when the order went through, I was surprised to see that the item ordered was a two pack of the battery spotlight cams. I don't know how it happened since I only looked at the wired cameras. But I thought, no big deal, I'll just call and get it changed. Boy was I wrong!
I called and spoke with a salesman who told me he might have to try to cancel the order and start over. I thought it seemed a little unnecessary since they were the exact same price, but whatever. Then he had to ask for permission and was told that he could not help me and I would have to send the product back after it was shipped to my house.
So, I asked to speak with a supervisor. I was on hold for about twenty minutes when they hung up on me. I immediately called back, waited on hold for another five minutes and spoke with a supervisor, Alice. Alice agreed with me that they should take care of me and promised to call me back before she left for the day. About an hour after that time passed, I called again to find out that Alice left for the day without calling back. The new person, Angelica, told me her policy would not allow her to change or cancel the order after it had been placed for more than thirty minutes. I tried to explain that I called two minutes after placing the order and they should do it. She was not happy that I did not care about her policy and wanted to be taken care of as a customer. She then told me Alice would be calling and she was somehow back at work. Still no calls back hours later. I called again to speak with a different supervisor, Grant. Grant told me he was unsure if he would be able to get the order stopped and agreed with me that it could have been stopped the first time I called.
After waiting on hold all day and speaking with numerous different people, here is the answer I got. We will have to wait to see if it can be stopped, we should know in 24 to 48 hours, but there is no guarantee and we will not ship the right thing to make it right. Oh, and I may have to pay return shipping, that also is unknown at this point!
I'm so done with this company already and there is no way I will sign up for the subscription plan I planned to get from them. I guess I will have to wait for these cameras to arrive and send them back, which according to their website, I will have to pay for the shipping on that as well. According to Grant, that part is a maybe. I feel like I'm taking crazy pills! This is honestly the worst customer service I have ever experienced, and the only review like this I have ever written. I write good reviews of companies because I know how important it is, but this is just too crazy not to share with others.
Ring: False Advertising and Invasion of Privacy
I gotta say, I've had a pretty rough experience with Ring. I've been trying to get in touch with them for weeks now, but they just won't call me back. And to make matters worse, my doorbell battery won't hold a charge at all. It's been a real pain in the you-know-what. I feel like the owner of Ring is just giving us false advertising. They won't even replace my doorbell, they just put me on hold and then hang up on me. And when I call back, they do the same thing all over again. It's like they don't even care about their customers.
But that's not even the worst part. Yesterday, I was typing some comments on the Ring Neighbors app, and without my permission, they were in my account. They kept deleting my comments over and over again. It's like they don't want anyone to know the truth about their product. And when I tried to call them out on it, they just said that my comments weren't helpful for safety and neighborhood alerts. But how can I trust their product if it doesn't even work half the time? I mean, what's the point of having a doorbell camera if it doesn't even turn on in real-time?
And to top it all off, they invaded my privacy. They were watching my every move and manipulating my account. They even deleted my comments without my permission. It's like they're trying to hide something. And when I asked them if it was safe to leave my doorbell charger cord outside in the weather, they put me on hold and then hung up on me. They never followed up or anything. It's like they don't even care about their customers' safety.
I spent $200 on this product, and it's just hanging on a nail with an extension cord. I feel like I've been scammed. And to make matters worse, they enlarged a map of my street on the Ring Neighbors app without my permission. It's like they're taunting me or something. And when I tried to call them out on it, they just hung up on me again.
I'm not the only one who's had a bad experience with Ring. I've seen other people complaining about it online. I even emailed a news reporter in Nashville to see if he could help me out. I just want to expose Ring for their false advertising and invasion of privacy. It's not right that they're taking our money and not even providing a working product.
Ring Door Peephole View Cam Review: Great Hardware, Frustrating Software Issues
The Ring Door Peephole View Cam is a great piece of hardware, but only if the software works properly! I've had it installed for a month now and have noticed a few issues.
Firstly, the "knock sensor" never worked for me, and the technical guys couldn't come up with a solution, so I had to disable it. This was frustrating as a delivery van would almost always activate the motion alerts when it stayed on.
Secondly, the motion zone is not accurate. When someone enters the zone, the motion alerts are not activated until the person has passed my driveway and reached the front door, then pressing the doorbell. This is not ideal for a security camera.
Thirdly, I am not able to customize the motion zone accurately as I can with my WYZE flood security cam. This is a big drawback as I want to be able to control the camera's settings.
Fourthly, the motion alert has a mind of its own. It keeps disabling itself as soon as I exit the app. This happens every time I force quit or exit the app, and it is the same way on all my iOS devices. Many people are complaining about this issue, but customer support is doing absolutely nothing about it. Even if everybody gives them a 1-star rating, I don't think they'll do anything about it.
Fifthly, there is always a delay watching the alert video despite having an excellent broadband. By the time I manage to watch the video, the person has disappeared. This happened once when someone stole my package from in front of my house, and I could not tell who did it because of this stupid delay.
Lastly, the technical help is very poor or nonexistent. This issue is driving me crazy, and even if I don't force close the app, it still happens on both my iPad and iPhone. This renders the peephole camera useless without the proper notifications. I will have no other option but to return all my ring stuff and ask for a full refund since they can never find me a solution but to pay an extra $300 to upgrade it to the elite system. I should actually get compensated for this security breach. I feel that Ring doesn't care about their customers or about fixing this issue as long as they make their sales quota.
This is so frustrating. We pay good money for these devices, and they don't work. If I don't get a notification, this device becomes useless. Does Ring read these messages? Or do we have to contact them a different way?
I can go on and on, but time does not permit me to do so. I wish I could give negative stars instead of one star.
Update: I have tried every trick in the book, and still the same, no fix yet! I looked at their system status for past incidents, and it looks like they logged this as a known issue back on December 16th, 2019, but it is also marked as "resolved" now. Based on all our replies on the forums, this certainly is not the case. I think we should all be giving 1-star ratings to get their attention to fix this security breach and to get them to admit that they have an issue. Also, we should be contacting support directly (through their chat, calling, etc.) and hopefully, they will update this glaring defect in the software/app for iOS users.
Inconsistent and Frustrating: My Experience with Ring Doorbells and Spotlight Cams
I've been using Ring since April of this year and I have to say, it's been a bit of a rollercoaster ride. For the first few months, I was trying to get the original Ring Doorbells to work properly. Sometimes they would work just fine, but other times they would stop working altogether or send black video to the cloud. It was frustrating to say the least. And the stick up cam wasn't any better.
In July, I was sent one of the brand new wired spotlight cams and I thought this was going to be the solution to all my problems. But unfortunately, that wasn't the case. When I was having issues with the original Doorbells, Ring sent me a Chime Pro to use between my router and the devices. Even though my router was closer, I had to use the Chime Pro because the first generation Ring Doorbells and stick up cam always had trouble staying connected or recording video that wasn't black.
After several months of inconsistencies, Ring agreed to trade my 3 original Doorbells for 2 Ring Doorbell 2s and another Spotlight Cam. The spotlight cams worked great and stayed connected to my Google WiFi Router and bridges as they should. However, after about 3 days of use, my new doorbell 2s kept losing connection and uploading black video again. So back to the Chime Pro I went. But even that didn't work, even though it was only 10 feet away from the doorbells. I kept getting weak signal warnings.
So I decided to try something different. I pulled out my 7-year-old Linksys 2.4Ghz Router and set it up as an access point with its own SSID for my Doorbells. And it worked! For about 3 weeks, everything was running smoothly. But then in the middle of the night, a firmware update was loaded on the router and my Doorbells were useless again. I removed the router and put one Chime Pro in my garage and the other in my foyer so they would be within a few feet from the Doorbells. So far, this setup is working, but I'm not hopeful it will continue to work.
As for the spotlight cams, I initially thought they were great. During the day, if a gnat flew by the motion sensor, it would go off. But at night, the motion sensors were quiet. And then, we had some Halloween decorations stolen from our front yard. There was a Spotlight Cam in the front yard, but no notification was sent to my phone or chimes and no video was recorded. I emailed Ring support about this and they told me they were aware of some of their products not detecting motion at night and were looking into it. Why wasn't this brought up during our previous correspondences?
I quickly moved the spotlight cam to another area of my home where it will not be as depended on and put up a Nest Outdoor Cam in its place. Needless to say, I'm not a satisfied customer. Ring could have a great product, but they need to pay more attention to detail.
Ring Alarm Security Control Center: Great Product, Frustrating Customer Support Experience
The Ring Alarm Security Control Center is a great product, but I had a bit of trouble with their customer support. I had a question about one of their devices that I couldn't find an answer to on their website, so I called their customer support number. It didn't take too long to get through to a live representative, but unfortunately, my call was misdirected to the chimes and doorbell department instead of the department I needed.
The representative I spoke with was very friendly and willing to help, but she couldn't answer my question because she only dealt with chimes and doorbells. She offered to transfer me to the correct department, but first, she needed temporary authorization to access my account. I explained that my question was not related to my account, but she still needed the authorization to transfer me.
This is where things got a bit frustrating. She sent me an email and a text message with links for temporary authorization, but both times, Amazon was unable to complete the request. She then asked for my personal information and the MAC address of my Ring base station, which I found to be a bit excessive for a general question.
After all of this, I still didn't get my question answered and ended up ending the call. I understand the need for security, especially with home alarm systems, but it felt like I was jumping through hoops just to ask a general question. I won't be ordering any more add-on devices to my system because of this experience.
It's worth noting that Ring is not BBB Accredited and has received negative reviews for their customer support. While their products are great, it's important to consider the level of support you may receive before making a purchase.
Disappointing Security and Customer Service: My Experience with RING
I recently purchased RING and I have to say, I am not impressed. I had high hopes for this security system, but it has let me down in a few areas. Firstly, the live camera streaming is not great. It uses static IP addresses for connectivity, which is not ideal. Additionally, it takes a long time to connect to the camera even when it is only 10 feet away.
However, my biggest issue with RING is the lack of security it provides. There is a major flaw in the system that I believe everyone should be aware of. If you are at home and an intruder breaks your glass door or window, they can easily enter your home and harm your family. Shockingly, RING does not support a glass break sensor while in the home mode. I contacted RING to ask if there was a workaround for this issue, but they kept avoiding my question.
I understand that glass breaking sensors are still in development, but this is a major security flaw that RING should have addressed before releasing the product. It is disappointing that when you subscribe to a security system, you do not get a full security system.
I had a chat session with RING customer service to address this issue, and they were not helpful at all. They kept side-stepping my question and giving me sales pitches instead of answering my concerns. It is frustrating that they cannot provide a simple yes or no answer to my question.
Overall, I am extremely disappointed with RING and I would not recommend it to anyone. It is important to have a security system that fully protects your home and family, and RING does not provide that. I hope that RING will address this issue and improve their product in the future.
Ring.com Review: Poor Customer Service, Billing Issues, and Cheap Equipment with Latency Problems
Ring.com is a website that is difficult to navigate due to its poor design and functionality. The site uses a lot of Java, which is not a reliable platform to dedicate a site to. However, my review is not about the website itself.
The customer service appears to be located outside of the U.S., as evidenced by the broken English used in chat and email support. The communication is far from professional and the support team seems to have limited knowledge of Ring.com. It appears that they are only hired to follow support scripts.
Billing is another issue I have encountered with Ring.com. My credit card keeps reverting back to an old card that I used when setting up the plan back in 2016. Suddenly, I received an email that the monthly fee couldn't be charged. When I checked Ring.com, I saw that the old card was attempting to be billed. I changed it again, but my account locked down and became inactive. When I contacted support via chat, I received a response that said, "Billing update. Do again in 24 hrs." Then the chat agent stopped responding. Whatever!
As someone who works as a government contractor working on wireless systems and networks, I know how to test wifi and other home networks. The Ring equipment is a train wreck! This stuff appears to be built outside of the U.S. and is very cheap, using some older technology. It will work, but with very poor performance. Someone will be pounding on my front door because I'm not receiving notifications.
I have the first generation doorbell, and the UPS man can walk up to my front door and put the package down and walk off without tripping the device. Yet a squirrel is raiding my bird feeder all day, 76 feet away, and my chime goes off non-stop. I have the coverage area backed off to almost 5 feet from the house. Also, the battery needs to be fully charged about every 2 weeks, which is ridiculous.
I have a garage camera with a solar charger, and the battery stays charged, but I'm concerned about it continually being plugged into the device and charging. Batteries don't like that. They tend to overheat. It's too close to my house for comfort.
These devices have a horrible latency of trying to connect to the network when you need to answer the door ring, when trying to check on a motion trigger, or just check outside while you're 600 miles from home. People will ring the device and by the time it connects, the visitor is in their car driving away. The batteries are not strong enough to handle the camera and the wifi signal.
I mysteriously received the Chime Pro and thought it was sent in error. Come to find out, it was sent free of charge. Hmmm. "What's up with that?" I thought to myself. After reading all these reviews, I can see why! Throw some peanuts at the lions to calm down the bad reviews. Speaking of which, it won't stay connected to my wifi extender, which is less than 5 feet away. My TiVo unit is screaming with connectivity and it's using the same extender with over 30 feet away.
Technology is a risky investment. There's always a risk when buying into the market. Before you do, always check reviews (like I failed to do) and analyze the seller/company/commercials. If they only show you the icing on the cake but squirrel around the big picture, pause and think! This is just a bad project with little quality input. I would make this comparison: Kmart Blue Light Special TracPhone to an iPhone or Android.
Ring Complaints 10
Unleashing the Power of Creativity: A Review of 'The War of Art' by Steven Pressfield
Just a little update for those of you who get a reply on here from "Kandyce C."; the email address is a "catch-all" mailbox where you receive a reply from any of their contracted support people. They play email-tag with you for days. Then if you call, you don't speak to this Kandyce (because she's not a real person). You get someone who struggles to speak English and you can't understand them. They have a script in front of them that they just read trying to walk you into the trap of buying the newest equipment or replacing it (at your expense). Everything is out of warranty the minute it gets shipped. (no surprise there) They don't know how to respond to you if you throw them a curve ball in the conversation (that's because it's not in the script) so they back up and start re-reading the same lines again. If you notice, all Ring does in these responses is state that's not how they do things and apologize. Then encourage you to email them, which leads to calling some third-world call center that probably also supports washing machines, cell phones, Dell computers, HP printers, (you get my point). When I called, they wanted me to climb a ladder and work on testing the equipment while on the phone with them. They highly insulted my knowledge of wireless technology by telling me some twisted story that wireless signals can't pass through walls and I had to go to some store and buy a special "repeater" (It's called an "extender" but they said that was the wrong term) to install outside. I agree with Scott, Shannon, Michael, and the others on here... it's a bad deal. The owners of Ring had the equipment manufactured "overseas" and then hired a call center over there to support and troubleshoot issues. My Ring products have been dismantled and picked up by a company that uses parts from unwanted technology. I couldn't live with myself if I tried to Ebay or sell these on Craig's List.
Ring Peephole Cam Review: Terrible Customer Service and Short Lifespan
Bought a peephole cam from Ring for my daughter's apartment and it stopped working properly after only a year and a half. The video was only in black and white and sometimes it wouldn't work at all. I called Ring and was on the phone with them for three hours, but they didn't seem to care about my problem. They even hacked into the camera to tell me what was wrong with it, but then said they couldn't send the necessary part to fix it. Instead, they told me I had to buy a new camera and that I could only buy it as a bundle with a chime. I explained that my daughter didn't need a chime and that I didn't want to pay for something she didn't need, but they said that was the only way to buy the camera.
My daughter already gets all the alerts she needs on her phone and doesn't need a chime. Plus, I don't even trust that the camera will last more than a year and a half, so I don't want to keep buying new ones. Ring didn't care about my warranty being up by only five months and wouldn't replace the camera. I had already spent $260 on the first one, including two extra rechargeable batteries.
I don't want to buy something I don't need and I don't trust Ring's products anymore. I'm telling everyone I know, including other tenants at my daughter's apartment complex and the management, to consider other options. Ring's customer service was a nightmare and I don't want to deal with them again.
I ordered the camera on June 26, 2019, and my order number was W. The total cost was $217.11, including sales tax. The camera was the Ring 1080p Wireless Door View Cam, model number 8SP1S9-0EN0, and store SKU number ***464. I paid with HD Commercial.
Disappointing Ring Support Experience: Multiple Calls and Delays for Replacement Batteries
I got a lot of Ring products in my house, like 23 of them. I got 14 Piece Ring Alarm with Professional Monitoring, 4 Path Lights, 1 Step Light, 2 Spot Lights, and 2 Floodlight Battery. But, I had some trouble with the Floodlight Batteries. They were flickering and I needed to replace them. So, I called Ring Support like 3 weeks ago. A lady answered and she did some troubleshooting. After like 30 minutes, she told me that they would send me the replacements soon. But, after 2 weeks, I still didn't get anything. So, I called them again and a guy answered. He told me that the previous lady did everything wrong and nothing was processed. He said he would "fix" it and send me the replacements. He asked me to send him the picture of the serial numbers for both floodlights, which I did. But, after 5 days, I only got one floodlight. I called Ring support again and a lady answered. She told me that the previous guy only ordered one replacement. Can you believe it? I had to call them 3 times just to get my replacements. I asked for the supervisor and her name was "Rose". But, she told me that they didn't have the email or number for the "Ring complaints" division. She told me to look at the Ring packaging for more details on who to contact. I was still on the line with them when I wrote this review. But, they put me on hold and the line just cut off. I'm so disappointed with Ring Company. They belong to Amazon, but their support is terrible. You would think they would at least offer me a discount or waive the product charge for my trouble. It's such a shame. If someone from Ring or Amazon reads this, please look up the below request ID's: Request ID Plc26d5-4758 - this was where the male rep only ordered one replacement instead of two, and Request ID Plc3832-c004 - this was where the second replacement was ordered. Regards, Nidish.

Disappointing Support from Ring: App Incompatibility Left Me with No Choice but to Buy a New Phone
I had a problem with my Ring Doorbell and App, and I contacted the support service via chat to try and resolve it. The issue was that I couldn't communicate properly with the person at my door, which was quite annoying. I tried everything I could think of, like testing the Wi-Fi, resetting and checking all the settings, and charging the battery to full capacity. But the problem remained, so I decided to uninstall the App from my Samsung Note 8 and download the Ring application from the Google App store. Unfortunately, I couldn't download it because a prompt was displayed saying "Your device isn't compatible with this version". I tried several times with no success, so I contacted Ring support.
After making contact with a support adviser via chat, I was told that my mobile device was no longer supported due to the Ring App being a later version. My phone is on Android Version 8.0, and no further updates were available. This meant that my Ring doorbell would no longer be fit for purpose unless I was to purchase a new mobile phone. I found this very upsetting as I would need to spend several hundred pounds on a new phone to enable the doorbell to work. No further support could be offered to resolve my issue.
I spent several hours browsing Google in the hope of finding an earlier version of the app that I had previously installed. Eventually, I managed to download an earlier version of the app from another website, and I can confirm that my Doorbell issues have all been resolved.
I find this extremely frustrating that the Ring support adviser could not offer me this solution, and no other support was offered to help with my problem. I am appalled with the service and support which I received. I will not be buying any more products related to "Ring" in the future.
Terrible Product and Customer Service: Cheap Plastic Mount, Poor Battery Life, and Useless Features
This product is not worth the money. The mount is made of cheap plastic and broke immediately after my first installation. Even the replacement part is almost broken, and I have to be very careful when removing the Cam to charge the battery. The battery life is also not as advertised, and I have to charge it every few weeks, even though my usage is low to moderate. Sometimes, it takes forever before it starts charging, and once it starts charging, it takes another 10 hours to charge. I think the battery or the camera is about to die, and it's not even a year old yet. The video quality is poor, and it's almost impossible to identify people captured. Even if the video quality is good, the subject will be on their way out by the time the video starts recording because of the lag. The feature of setting the zones (sensitivity) is useless, as there is very little difference.
The company's customer service is also terrible. They recently sent me a discount code for a different camera, hoping it would be better. I tried to purchase one, only to be told that the code doesn't work. After being accused that I was not sent a discount code, I was asked to provide proof. The email sent to me indicates that the offer was exclusive to me and intended only for my account. It was inadvertently used by another person, and I was accused that I gave my discount code away and not given another one. How can I give something that is supposedly exclusive to me according to their offer? All I did was forward an email to a relative to alert them to check their email if they have received the same offer. Apparently, the relative was able to use someone else's code, and apparently, it was not exclusive to me. At the end of the day, I'm glad it happened and prevented me from buying another horrible product from this horrible company. I researched and found a better product and referred them to relatives and friends. It seems this company has been living under a rock and unaware of the importance of treating your customers well.
Ring Doorbell Review: Disappointed with Lack of Video Alert Without Subscription Plan
I recently purchased the Ring Doorbell and was hoping to get VIDEO ALERT without having to pay for a subscription plan. However, I have yet to receive a response from Ring regarding this issue. It seems like their responses to reviewers are just a way to make it seem like they care, but in reality, they may not be doing much to help. I wonder how many other reviewers have had their issues resolved.
I sent an email to Bilan on August 22nd, but have not heard back yet. I even copied the entire email and asked for instructions on how to view a video alert without subscribing to their plan. I hope to hear back soon.
One of my major complaints is that Ring does not mention anything about the subscription fees on their product packaging. Most of their competitors allow video clips to be viewed for free for several days, which is very helpful in reviewing who was at the door. Although I still receive alerts on my smartphone, without the video, it is essentially useless. I understand that not everyone can immediately go to Life View when they receive an alert triggered by motion or the doorbell. In my opinion, Ring should allow consumers to review the video at least once or within a certain period of time for free, without having to pay for a subscription plan. The lack of disclosure on the packaging about subscription fees is misleading to consumers.
Overall, I am disappointed with my experience with Ring so far. I hope they can address these issues and improve their product in the future.
Ring Customer Service is a Disgrace: My Experience with Broken Bell Replacement
I have to say, my experience with Ring has been less than satisfactory. I purchased a Ring bell on November 25th, 2017, and by the next day, it was already broken. I called their support service, and a representative named Jasmine told me that they would send me a new bell and that I didn't need to send the broken one back. I was relieved, but my relief was short-lived.
Days went by, and I didn't receive any updates on the replacement. I called Ring on November 30th, and the representative I spoke to assured me that the replacement had already been shipped and that there were no problems. I asked her to confirm this twice, just to be sure.
On December 2nd, I called again, this time speaking to a representative named Whitney E. She told me that no replacement had been shipped and that they would send another one out. I also requested a letter confirming the fault of the original bell, but I never received it.
To make matters worse, I was told that I needed to provide my credit card information to receive a replacement for a broken bell. I was shocked and frustrated, but I called back and spoke to Tiffany C. She told me that they needed my card number to send out any replacement for broken bells. Instead of the bell, I requested a replacement base that didn't require credit card information.
Days turned into weeks, and I still hadn't received any tracking information or updates on the replacements. I called again on December 9th and spoke to Eric Robles, a member of the management team. He told me that all three replacement parts were on status "Pending" and that they had never been sent out in the first place. He offered to personally arrange for them to be sent and promised to provide me with regular updates. As compensation, he offered to send me a free Chime and six months of Cloud service for free.
It's now December 18th, and I still haven't received any replacements for the bell. I've sent several emails, but I haven't heard anything from Eric Robles or anyone else at Ring. It's been four weeks, and I'm extremely disappointed with the level of support I've received.
In my opinion, Ring is a disgrace and an embarrassment. They're incapable of sending out replacements to the UK for broken parts, even after speaking to the management. The whole company is unprofessional and a scam. Every time I call, I get staff who provide inadequate support, lie, and are incapable of completing requests. I would advise anyone to avoid Ring and look at other competitors.
Ring Security System Review: A Frustrating Waste of Time and Money
Ring is a company that promises to give you peace of mind, but in reality, it delivers nothing but frustration. Let me tell you why.
First of all, the installation process is far from simple. You need to have an electrical source that isn't already maxed out, and you can't connect it to a breaker in your garage that already has stuff dedicated to it. This means that you might need to hire an electrician to install it properly.
Secondly, the broadband connection is not simple either. If your internet speed is not enough, you need to seriously upgrade your internet service. This can be costly and time-consuming.
Thirdly, there is no guarantee of service. The system periodically blinks out and no longer works. To fix this, you need to completely reset the system, which requires going up on a ladder if you have one of the flood lights over your garage or above a front door to access the reset button.
Fourthly, the process to establish a connection is confusing and simply fails. You might spend hours trying to connect it, only to find out that it doesn't work.
Fifthly, proximity is irrelevant. You could be standing under it as it is connected to a passing satellite in the sky piloted by NASA astronauts and it won't give your phone an image. This is frustrating and defeats the purpose of having a security system.
Sixthly, you might need to buy a new cell phone that works with Ring, only to discover that it doesn't work with Ring. This is a waste of money and time.
Seventhly, tech support is useless. All they can do is tell you to turn off data, stand next to your router, and check signal speed. This is how they determine that you now need high-speed broadband (see #2). This is not helpful and doesn't solve the problem.
Eighthly, they have you checking all around your home like looking for paranormal activity in a haunted house only to inform you that an additional item is needed called a "Chime". This is frustrating and time-consuming.
Ninthly, once the chime arrives, you need to repeat numbers 1 through 7 to help amplify the signal. This is a waste of time and money.
Tenthly, you are scammed into paying for the service for a year with promises of the images being backed up and so on and so forth. However, refunds don't happen, so you are stuck with a system that doesn't work properly.
In conclusion, Ring is a great idea, but executed by typical enterprising [censored]s that get the business down before they get the tech down. I truly cannot conceive of a better way to scam people out of cash, make them buy more internet, a new phone, and additional perks only to deliver nothing. PLEASE AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
Ring Pro: Inconsistent Product & Poor Customer Service
I had a bit of a rough time with Ring, let me tell you. My Ring Pro unit stopped working back in December, and it was a whole ordeal trying to get it fixed. I had to jump through so many hoops, it was ridiculous. But my son had a better experience, so I decided to try again. First, they asked me to send them the email thread from my original email address. Like, seriously? Then they wanted a credit card on file in case they didn't get the original device back. That made me laugh out loud. If I send the original back and they send a replacement, why would they need my credit card? It's not like they're going to hold onto my money until they get the original back. That's just silly. And they didn't even send me an RMA, shipping label, or instructions. I had to pay for return shipping myself, which was just the cherry on top of this whole mess. Ring needs to get with the times and make their customer service more user-friendly.
Now, let's talk about the product itself. It's just not consistent. I've had blackouts, connectivity issues, poor video quality, and it doesn't even track movements properly. I have great WiFi, too, so that's not the issue. I followed all the tech recommendations, but it's just not ready for prime time. The only good thing is that it has a warranty, but it's such a hassle to engage the process.
UPDATE: I just posted this review and within minutes, I got a notification that they're sending me a shipping label to return the product. It's ridiculous that we have to go through so much trouble just to return something, but I guess you have to be tenacious. It's frustrating, but it's worth it to get your money's worth.
UPDATE 2: I finally got a full refund, but it was such a hassle. I ended up buying a NEST camera instead, even though it's a bit more expensive for cloud recording. But it's worth it because it's a much better camera with no issues.
Ring Devices: A Disappointing Experience with Terrible Customer Service
So, I gotta say, I had a pretty rough time with Ring. I mean, I was really excited to get my hands on their doorbell and video camera, but both of them ended up failing on me. The battery just wouldn't hold a charge anymore, and I had to recharge them all the time. I tried using the cables and adapters they provided, but it didn't help. Even the solar adapter for the video camera stopped working, and that thing was supposed to keep it charged all the time!
So, I called up their support team, and let me tell you, it was a nightmare. I had to wait on hold for two whole days before I could even talk to someone. And when I finally did, they just blamed me for leaving the solar panel plugged in too long. They said it ruined the battery and voided the warranty. Like, seriously? I'm supposed to climb up on my roof and unplug it every time I need to charge it? That's ridiculous.
So, I called back the next day, and I got transferred around to a bunch of different people who could barely speak English. It was so frustrating. Finally, I talked to a guy who actually knew what he was talking about. He said that the batteries are only supposed to last as long as the device itself, and they don't sell replacement batteries. I mean, come on. How are they supposed to sell new models if they let people keep using the old ones?
Anyway, I ended up trashing both of my Ring devices and switching over to Nest Doorbell and Blink video cameras. And let me tell you, I am loving them. Sure, the Blink cameras are a little pricey, and they require lithium AA batteries, but I can deal with that. At least I don't have to deal with Ring's terrible customer service anymore.
Honestly, I think Ring could have been a lot better if they had just launched the business better and used better customer service. But I guess that's what happens when you have an international team. And even though Amazon bought them out, it's not like they were the first choice. I mean, some smart investors and companies turned them down for a reason.
About Ring
One of the key features of Ring is its video doorbell, which allows homeowners to see and speak to anyone who comes to their front door. The video doorbell is equipped with a camera and microphone, and it sends a live video feed to the homeowner's smartphone or tablet. This means that homeowners can see who is at their door even when they are not at home, and they can communicate with visitors without having to open the door.
In addition to the video doorbell, Ring also offers a range of other home security products, including security cameras, motion detectors, and alarm systems. These products can be used to monitor the inside and outside of a home, and they can be customized to meet the specific needs of each homeowner.
One of the things that sets Ring apart from other home security companies is its commitment to community safety. The company has created a neighborhood watch program called Ring Neighborhoods, which allows homeowners to share videos and information about suspicious activity in their area. This program has helped to reduce crime in many neighborhoods, and it has become a valuable resource for law enforcement agencies.
Overall, Ring is a reliable and effective home security company that provides homeowners with the tools they need to protect their property and loved ones. With its innovative products and commitment to community safety, Ring is a leader in the home security industry and a trusted partner for homeowners everywhere.
