Rosetta Stone Pirated software

I ordered software from you that is pirated. It states in the instructions:First, it is easier to read these instructions if you copy/paste them into a word processing document.

(1) Be sure your computer is disconnected from the internet when Installing both Rosetta Stone and whenever installing any languages CD's.

(2) Install the application by running RosettaStoneSetup.exe. If promoted, DO NOT "extract" the installer, just choose to "run" it. NEVER register and/or activate the product if prompted to do so. Once installed, QUIT the Rosetta Stone application and DO NOT install any languages yet.
do not launch rosetta upon finshing install, you will have to uncheck the launch button on the finsih screen

(3) Inside your Program Files directory, there will be a folder called "Rosetta Stone"; go to it and open it. C:Program FilesRosetta Stone Then open the folder inside it called "Rosetta Stone Version 3". In the Instructions Folder on the Installation CD, there is an application called RosettaStoneVersion3.exe. Copy it from the Installation CD and paste it into the "Rosetta Stone Version 3" folder so that it REPLACES the RosettaStoneVersion3.exe already in there.

(4) If installing more than one language CD, be sure to pause in between installations and look to view the summary of the training course curriculum. Once viewed, continue to install the next language CD (if applicable).

(5) The activation screen will still appear but just click "Activate Later"; you will be able to full use any installed language packs regardless of their activation status.

to permananetly turn off updates, go to the main lesson screen

choose set preferences on the top menu bar (the middle circle)
uncheck the box that says automaticall check for updates

As you can see, this is a pirated copy! I have not loaded the software on to my computer. Please give me instructions on what you want me to do and return my money. I am intouch with my credit card and will file a claim against you if you refuse to return my money.

Compared to V3, VKworld Stone V3S is more suitable in colder regions.

I had to exchange it with a store, which received more money.

I purchased the Rosetta Stone Hindi Version 3 sets 1, 2, 3 online from rosettastoney.com. Everytime I order something online I have gotten confirmation via email from the company with shipping information and a receipt. After waiting for several days of receiving nothing, I went back to the website to get the customer service contact number. The company does not have a phone number listed, address, or their full company name. I emailed the company and left feedback via their online customer service. They never responded. I was hoping that the receipt would be in the box once I opened it. However, I got the product, which was broken, with no receipt and no return address information. Once again, I left feedback and emailed the company. Once again, they have not responded. I now have a complaint filed with the international better busines bureau and I will be filing a complaint with paypall as well. Please save yourself the trouble and take your business somewhere else!

This is a fraudulent website of the Rosetta stone international company. Goods that are received are burnt copies and are not registrable. Order confirmation comes through from gmail email and card statement description came in as "weddingdresses" which made alarm bells ring. Not to mention website address "Rosetta Stones" not stone. Do not buy, worth buying direct from US website and paying a bit extra.

Rosetta Stone Misunderstanding

Dear RosettaCourse.

Three weeks ago I ordered the Italian course, and paid for it.
When I ordered the course I forgot to mention my number and immediately after export I have sent the number of my discount coupon. There is a misunderstanding because I am charged for two courses.
Until today I haven't received any of them.
Could you repair the misunderstanding?

Rosetta Stone Harrasment

If any telemarketing, television sales, or internet spammer would just make it easy to get off their list!
They will harrass you. I recommend only dealing with them by registered US mail

as soon as they get your name phone number or email - they will harrass you through themselves and their various distributors. They will not want to be held accountable -. Sometimes this company sells Pimsleur a language learning software, cd, and dvd. Sometimes this company sells Rosetta Stone.

Ive been beeing harrassed by them for months now even after sending the software back... I provided them UPS info and everything. now they are sending me snail mail with my social security number in it that they dug up somewhere...

i smell harrasment lawsuit soon

I bought from them from an email they sent out - the product and service were both great - i think you people just have to get used to the fact that are email boxes are subject to soliciations the same way any are - and when you buy something you should read the program - Internet Order gave me a trial period for a low cost - then i had to pay to keep it at the retail price - big deal - it's not a scam - it's a trial and then you pay once you keep it... just because people are too stupid to read doesn't mean that companies offering creative ways to try and buy products are evil

This appears to be another one of those outfits that doesn't make it clear at the outset exactly what you are obligating yourself for when you accept their offer for a low-cost trial of their product(s), and that then hides behind the catch-phrase used by most scamsters, caveat emptor. So, businesswoman, above, is right, on the one hand, in that one should certainly read carefully what one is signing up for, but on the other hand, my recollection is that the full details of this company's deal were not made conspicuous, so that after aquiring some language-learning CD's for the cost of shipping and handling, I later found myself being billed for $236.00. Questionably honest.

Just because you had a bad experience doesn't mean they are a scamming company. You just need to read more carefully as to what you sign up for buddy.

Rosetta Stone Bad service

Rosetta Stone advertises that they will send you a free demo. I called and told them that I wanted to learn Mandarin and if they could please send me the free demo. They tried to sell the entire program to me but I insisted that I wanted to see how the program worked with the demo. I waited over 2 months for the demo--they never sent it. I called back to ask why they hadn't sent the demo and their response was that a lot of people call up just to get stuff for free. Shortly afterwards, I purchased a language program called Language Now for about 6 times less then the first part of the program that Rosetta Stone tried to sell to me without the Demo.

but if you have the official key code that is authentic, why do I need to save the credit card/receipts, etc?
I have the authentic cd/box/key codes, etc. Isn't that sufficient? Microsoft doesn't ask me if I can provide the proof of purchase.

Having the exact same problem. Who saves receipts for a year or two, not many of us I suspect. I've changed credit card companies long ago. They claim you will be contacted within 24 hrs of your initial complaint. I'm still waiting. Their customer service web site sucks too.

I agree with Ling Chi.

You have to remember that buying a product from a distributor has different rules. Consumers need to realize when they are buying something, they are responsible for it.

As far as fading receipts, couldn't you just save it in some MS Word document? Or write in one of the RS manuals?

You really can't get pissed at a company because they asked for proof of purchase - this is standard in the software business in order to combat piracy. This is why you make backups, and keep the originals (with all documentation) in a safe place. It's so much easier to blame the company than it is to take personal responsibility.

I have an additional complaint with this company. They do not factor in their distribution channels for selling the software. I purchased the software at Borders Bookstores. My home computer recently crashed and I had it refurbished with all of the software that was originally installed, including the French version of Rosetta Stone was added. I've had this program for 2 1/2 years prior to the system crash. I contacted their customer service to ask for help in obtaining an activation card in order to use the full program because mine was lost. The response I got was they could not help me unless I had proof of purchase. The new receipts issued these days, fade over time so you will not be able to see the actual purchase. I indicated this to the customer rep. and her next response was the company could not help me because they are concerned with people hacking into their program and duplicating it. The only suggestion she could give me was to contact the issuer of the credit card to see if they would be able to assist in giving me the information I needed. Not only did I contact the bank and Borders Book Store, but each one could not provide me with the drill down detail on this product. This comment was made to the representative too. A fact that has thus been confirmed by the responses received by both the bank and Borders. I think the behaviors and attitudes given by their customer service for any consumer who purchases their products are unethical and inappropriate business practices. If it is a top down approach that is essentially expected then that too is unforgiveable. The company asks for all types of identification in order for you to use the program and they do not keep it in file unless you purchase it directly from them? I find it hard to believe in this day and age of technology and computer information that no one at this company is able to research further to find my name in their system. If this is their response, they should not sell their products to any other vendors and keep the sales in-house. No one should have to shell out an additional few hundred bucks to purchase another copy of the program. I am truly abhorred by the business practices issued by this company!

I agree with their lack of support and service. I had tried other languages from them before version 3 had come out and when I enquired about this I was told I need to pay full price for to upgrade and that there were no other options for me since I had "used the language software for more than a year". Without an upgrade path, which I was totally unaware of, and never received any notices about, I decided to chalk it up to experience and search other language programs.
