Fraud
My husband and I discussed at length with the sales rep that came to our house about the ability to cancel after a year... if for any reason we didn't want the service. Well, after the installer stapled the wire down our wall and pulled it over to our phone - so unsightly, to say the least... and the fact that we don't use it often at all --- we wanted to cancel. Waited the year - called to cancel.. only to find out it was a 5 year contract.

All Around bad Service!
A company Rep offered us a 3 year contract which we paid in full of $3200. for our home & business. The one at the home worked for only a short time, they refused to fix it. The one at the business stopped working, they refuse to fix it. I'll rephrase that. It will not let the alarm set properly as we leave which is what makes a security alarm system of...

Horrible customer service and rude employees. I used Safe Touch Security for 10 years ( September 99 to August 2009). I enclosed my patio and required additional coverage and they refused to send out a technician, they gave me a ridiculous quote over the phone without even seeing the enclosure. I called again and ask to speak to the owner but, I was not important enough to speak to him so, I had to talk to a rude lady instead. At this point, I realized that 10 years of patronage meant nothing to Safe Touch and I requested service termination. I was told I had to submit a letter in writing to stop service even though, I was no longer under contract. I called a day later to terminate service again and I was transferred to another lady, she asked what could she do to keep my service, I told her "nothing", I should not have to threaten to terminate service to get assistance. I could not get Safe Touch to secure my enclosure and at the end, I got the "run around" trying to terminate ...sad. US Navy Ret.

Contract...Poor Customer Service
A couple years ago I had a house phone and I activated the alarm that was already installed in my home through Safe Touch. I paid for the house phone and my mother paid the alarm bill. It was automatically drafted from her account. When the economy got bad a couple years back I received a big decrease in my inccome and I had to terminate my home phone service. As a result I tried to cancel my alarm service and Safe Touch refused to cancel service stating that I had signed a 30 yr contract. Which may be true but I wasnt told that at the time I signed it. I was deceived at the amount of years the contract was for. My mother had to cancel her bank account so that the money would not continue to come out every month for an inactive alarm system. Now I am getting calls from a collection agency saying that I owe over a thousand dollars for the alarm system that I have not used in years due to no house phone. I do not reccommend this company to anyone and I make sure that all my friends and family know this. I explained all this to the debt collector and he stated that all I needed to do was send in a letter to get my account cancelled. I've spoken with Safe Touch and my mother did also and never once did they tell us that we could send in a letter to cancel my account. Only after the fact did they inform us that we had this option.

If a collector's mouth is moving he/she is lying, ok. Now don't stress over this. And Do not pay it! But you need to act to protect yourself. Go to debtorboards.com and post your question, those people over there have lots of experience dealing with and suing successfully these scammers. And always record your conversations with CA. They are good evidence in court. But you need to write them a cease and desist letter, CMRRR.
Hidden Charges
I entered into a 36 month contract with SafeTouch Security for my home I recently purchased. I was told I would not receive a bill for two months. Less than a month later I received a phone call from a third party by the name of TimePayment that the amount in the paperwork was off by 10 cents and I need to include the 10 cents in my bill otherwise it might as well be 1, 000 dollars and would be considered delinquent. I then received a bill shortly thereafter. And then Included the 10 cents. Then I get another phone call so they can make sure that I include the 10 cents in my payment. The payment had already been sent long before it's due date. I then receive a letter from them stating that if I do not show proof of insurance and them named in the policy for coverage of the equipment, I would pay an additional 4.95 per month for 36 months. I contacted my insurance company and they stated that they had never heard of that before. I then returned a call back to TimePayment to question this and let them know once again that the 10 cents was added to the payment, the rep offered to call my insurance company. He then called me back and said that it could not be done without switching insurance companies, although he used to work in insurance and had never heard of it either. WHAT A SCAM... The 4.95 per month is a waiver fee. You mean rental fee TimePayment. Comeon now...Is this what SafeTouch means by "smash and grab technology?" Very dissapointed that I contracted with this company. And since the sign is in my yard I guess it would be ok to put a sign that says "sucks" underneath it. After all word of mouth is the best advertisement.

Moved
Purchased wireless system for my RV and Shed. I paid cash for hardware and 3 years of monitering. Installed system.I moved to another city 60 miles away. I called Safetouch to have address changed so if alarm goes off they come to the right place. They will not changed the address unless I give them 100.00 dollars. Sales and installer knew I would be moving for I lived on someone else's property. They will not change address so police come to where I am. When the alarm goes off the police go to my former address.
Works for me!
Listen people - there are positive reviews and negative reviews for every company out there. As a customer it is your responsibility to weed out the biased and learn from the unbiased. I am a Safe Touch customer and spent a little bit more than I thought I was going to, however, the choice was very simple for me. All I can suggest is that you give them a call and have them send out a consultant to give you pricing and show you what they have to offer. Then you don't have to make a judgement based on what others say on the internet, you can do what I did and use my own personal opinion. What works for me may not work for others and vice versa. I'm happy and it was an easy decision. Hope this helps. Mar - Apopka, FL

Reviews
Like any company, I've read the good review and I've read the bad. I live in Windemere and have been a Safe Touch Customer for about a year now. Didn't have any problems with pushy salespeople, didn't have any problems with the installer, and havent have any problems since. Affordable, yet I wasn't looking for affordable when considering something as serious as the security of my home and family. I'd recommend them to friends or family members. And have. Sincerely, JH
Thanks for your response. I am positive that someone with a username equating to "hates fat people" is extremely credible. Good luck in your security sales future. All the best!

Just make sure you read all the FINE print in their contract that is only beneficial to them. It states the contract is for five years though the salesman will sell it as three. It states that the contract will automatically renew for two years every two years after the five year ends. It states that no matter what you pay up front for the equipment it is never yours. If you do cancel you must do so in writing within 60 days of your contract renewal. You will have 96 hours to return their equipment. If you do not return your equipment within this time they will charge you a $500.00 equipment fee. Granted you will have holes in your walls, which will be your responsibility to cover. Furthermore if you are unhappy with their monitoring because they continuously get their signals crossed. (Bless the heart of whoever did need them because the police come to your home) Or if your alarm goes of over and over and over and over in the middle of the night for no apparent reason. That's in there too. Because it states that they do not guarantee that their system will work properly for you. So... who are the real crooks? It's your choice who you want "protecting" your safety. Guess for some it's better to have a mafia member on your side than not. I for one will never do business with Safe Touch again.
Thinking about getting safe touch, but not sure what i want yet. I have only heard good things about them and it wasn't from the safe touch people. It was from my friends that have it. Don't really know why you would complain about them unless them are the ones coming to rob your house. So think about what you say before you start bashing someone or the joke may be on you if your house is the one being robbed!

As someone who has battled obesity most of their life I find it appauling that someone would create a screenname that says H8fatpeepL. I could care less if the inital comments were or were not written from an employee of Safe Touch. But to have a response filled with such hatred is beyond me. Why do you have to hate someone who is obese, or "Fat" as you put it. There is no doubt in my mind that you and your friends are competition of Safe Touch. I just wish I knew which company you all worked for to insure that you are never invited into my home to explain the products and services you provide. If your company would hire the likes of you, then I have no use for them either. Shame on you.
These complaints about Safe Touch are disturbing. We had a sales person in our home tonight and he was a bit cheesy. I think we will go somewhere else for our security services. What is disappointing is to see how many sites an employee appears to be posting within an unreasonable time after a bad post. That is the smoking gun in my opinion.
Misleading sale practices
. I am dismayed at the business practices of safetouch security. I initially had to contact them because I got a bill stating I hadnt paid in several months. I immediately went to my bank and was easily able to pull up my payments and specifically the dates they cashed the checks- I called to clarify this with them and the customer service rep basically suggested that I was lying. Of course I could easily produce the statements for them- but now I was disgusted and wanted to terminate my service. I was told I could not b/c my contract was for 5 years. I said no I signed a contract for three years and was told afterwards it would be a month to month service. I specifically addressed this with the rep who sold me the system. these of course were statements circled on my contract. What was not pointed out or circled or discussed was a statement that this would be a five year contract with auto renewal. This is intentionally misleading and a disgusting business practice and I will personally make sure that this type of practice is made public - DONT USE SAFE TOUCH SECURITY!

As a business owner I have dealt with all kinds of companies in the 27 years of being in business. None have been as terrible as Safetouch Security. We prepaid a little over 3 years ago for our system and have been paying monthly for the wireless connection for one of our office buildings. Upon inquiring why we are now being charged 400% more the past few months we have gotten a barrage of lies from their customer service team. We have spent over 6 hours on the phone trying to resolve the issues and in the process have been insulted, lied to and abused. Our system is now a complete mess as they attempted to reprogram it. The install tech was several hours late and because of that we did not get any training with the system. Despite repeated promises over the past 3 years we still have yet to receive training or have access to our original signed paperwork. We were told we purchased a 3 year contract (paid in advance) but when the 3 years were up - CSR insists that we have a 5 year contract but they refuse to show it to us. In all honesty, I should have spent a few hundred $$ and have an attorney review the contract, but since I was paying in advance I was lazy about the fine print. Now I am being charged for all kinds of stuff they say I requested back in 2010 - like the ipad app? Safetouch - you should do your research - the ipad had only been out about 3 months when I purchased the system and you definitely did not have an ipad app at that time. Yet you insist that I told the sales rep I wanted to pay $13.86 extra every month for the ipad app? Anyway, I digress. This company is a ripoff and a fraud. The CSRs are terrible liars, or it might be that 8 out of 9 are misinformed? Either way, I really do not trust them to protect my $1.6M office building.
I had every intention of continuing after my three years of service, but like you I am completely disgusted with SafeTouch. They never sent me an invoice or called me prior to the expiration of my paid three years (like the salesman told me they would). I got a call at work from SafeTouch telling me my account was past due. They never sent an invoice. The rep insisted that they sent two invoices, one due Sep 1 and the other due Oct 1 ... I never received these invoices. Now, even though I have NEVER lost a bill, I considered that maybe just maybe an invoice got lost in the mail BUT TWO invoices lost? I don't think so ... So now they are trying to charge me a late fee for invoices they never mailed. I'm a customer who would have paid in advance for another three years, but they are making me so angry, I don't want to be with their company anymore. Way to go SafeTouch. How idiotic can you be?
How can a term clearly circled on the front of the agreement be misleading or disgusting? It is very clear to every customer choosing to use Wells Fargo to finance the security system that the first 3 years payments will be made to Wells Fargo, and then payments 37 to 60 will be made to Safetouch and those will be directly billed by Safetouch. This customer disregarded 2 different notices mailed to the address indicating the monthly payments by Safetouch would soon begin to be billed. Instead, the customer ignored the first 2 monthly bills and when the late notices were sent called and attempted to show cancelled checks made payable to Wells Fargo. In an effort to resolved the situation, Safetouch offered to waive the late charges on the account if the balance was paid, customer declined the offer.
Shorter contract
I needed a new security system installed because my home had none. I didn't want to sign anything longer than 3 months, however, Safe Touch's contract clearly states that their initial term is 36 months. I asked the sales guy if he had anything shorter and he said not for a new system. Nice guy, pleasant to talk to, said he could do 1 year monitoring if I had a system, but unfortunately with a "new install" he could only do 36 months. Not sure if other companies have shorter than a year, but if you need a short term fix, look elsewhere.

Discounted rates
I called Safe Touch for a military/police officer rate, but the best they could come up with was $14.95 a month if I had a pre-existing system. I needed a new system so the rep graciously offered me a few hundred off of the total price but I still really wanted that $14.95 rate for my new system. Are there any companies that will give me a new system for $14.95 a month?

Contract
I am in need of a home security system as I am closing on my home in two weeks. After researching via google I came across this site and saw the reviews on ADT and Safe Touch so I stayed away from them and contacted a company called Alarm Force.com. What a joke that place is. They literally tried to sell me a security system over the phone and at one point even said that they, “Voice Threaten the intruder out of your home”. Yeah, that’s going to work. “Hey you…you better leave”!
I then disregarded all of the reviews below and called both ADT and Safe Touch. I didn’t so much have a problem with ADT, I just didn’t like their aggressive nature. At one point I was with my wife at the dinner table and we looked at each other to say, “How are we going to get this person out of our home”? It was very comfortable.
I called Safe Touch by default and was pleasantly surprised. I challenged their consultant on the length of their contract and I was shocked when he just slid it across the table and allowed me to read it. Under the terms and conditions, it clearly states that the contract is either three years or five years, dependant on which payment method that you choose. I wasn’t necessarily concerned about the length of the contract because lets face it, security is something you need for life no matter who you choose. However I did ask it based on what I saw written below and received a straight-forward answer.
I did not purchase because I have yet to close on my house, so I am not offering any opinions on who you should choose for your security provider. But I do encourage you to take whatever complaints you read on the internet with a grain of salt. Educated individuals know that anyone can create an account and anyone can post anything they want. It’s my estimation that competing companies realize this and write as many negative reviews as they possibly can to increase their sales. Just look at how many posts are from the same name.

Read the fine print. It says the three year pre-paid contract will automatically renew for 2 years if they don't hear from you. I got caught by that this week. They were rude and uncooperative when I tried to straighten it out. First I was told to just send a fax to cancel. Two weeks later, I got a bill with a late payment attached. They were really rude when I called this time. After several hours, I finally got someone to listen. The solution was to pay the balance of the extended contract. They ruined their reputation over $106. "I hate Safe Touch". I am going elsewhere.
Faulty Equipment
April 2009 approximately was solicited by Pedro to install a system in my shop. At this time I only had a cell phone for my business, therefore had to have a digi-cell back up. Was explained that any service issues would be covered and that the account would require a credit card be opened by Wells Fargo Financial and I would pay them for the system. From...

On Saturday, Nov.6, 2010 I spoke with a supervisor ref. Safetouch not responding to a breakage in my kitchen. I was told that they did not receive a signal. The last time Safetouch didnot respond to my alarm was approx 3 months ago, it was also on a Saturday, my concern is that I am not receiving proper monitoring over the weekend. I was placed on hold for 23 min. I called again using my cell phone. I then spoke with a Super. by the name of Christian, she was of no help, she told me first that I was not covered with breakage, I told her that I was, and that the last 911 call was made by Safetouch for my location was because of breakage that occured in my kitchen. She told me that they did not receive a breakage alarm from my location today (11-6-10) and that if she dispatched a technician that I would have to pay for a service call, if the system was working correctly. I told her that I could not afford to pay a technician to come out. She went ahead and set up an appt. for Wed. 11-10-10. She told me that she would also test my line. She gave me a code to key into my pad (0852 Key Twice ). My phone line went dead. Christian never called back to tell me if my line was clear. I think that this is a very poor way to do business. My monitoring service fee is taken out of my account on a monthly basis, never late. I donot think that I am being unreasonable to ask for assistance when it is needed. I rate your week end monitoring service including supervision as very poor. I would like a call back from a management person, other than Christian. I would like to know if you are picking up signals from my home? If you are not I would like a refund for the time that I was not monitored. Thanks for your time. Mrs. S. Dukes

DO not respondwhen alarm goes off. Deceptive practice
This company is very decptive. Each time my alarm goes off, no one calls back. I made several attempts to get Reggy, or Christy to contact me in regards to this valid problem without success. I purchased a home with a Safe Touch security system that was installed by the previous owner. Safe Touch came out to evaluate the system after I purchased the home and tried to sign me up for a 3 year contract. I do not sign contracts for service as it is usually indicative of poor quality.
I have been using the alarm unmonitored and recently wanted to add some wireless key fobs, but the system is 'locked'. I would be willing to pay for a technician to come out and change the installer code so that I might maintain the system I own. Safe Touch will not even talk to you unless you are under contract.
Here is the best part. When my system was installed, the technician scratched out every id sticker on every wireless sensor so that the owner can never reprogram the system. You need the code to program in the wireless sensors, and they deliberately remove/deface the external & internal stickers that are placed on each device by the manufacturer.
If a company is focused on customer service and provide good value, people will stay. There is no need for long contracts and rig systems so they can never be used by the homeowner. It's just plain wrong and unethical. I will never do business with a company such as this. What a way to make a buck.

I have had Safe Touch for about 6 years at this home and switched from ADT to Safe Touch and used them for about 5 years at my last home. I'm sorry if you have had bad service with them but "so far" I have had NOTHING BUT GOOD SERVICE with them. Every time that I have had a problem with the system THEY came out Promptly and repaired it at their cost. I di want an additional key fob and they wanted a charged which I thought was too much so I just didn't get it. Isn't that how it's supposed to be? If it's too much you don't get it? Anyway, I highly recommend them to my friends and neighbors all of the time.

Hmmmm, does anyone else here realize that this is the same EXACT email that was SUPPOSEDLY sent by "billy"? So tell me, how can users with different screen names write the same review? Simple...they're all the same person! Surely a competitor just trying to trash this company. Pretty sad - made me want Safe Touch even more!

Even if you under a contract they won't do much for you. Hate, hate, hate this company. They promised me the moon and only cared about billing me. I complained to BBB and will continue to tell everyone I know what a pack off thieves they really are.
I purchased a house that had a safe touch system - the house was built pre-wired, which they cut when they installed the wireless system.
I understand it's a common practice for them. The only one robbing this town is Lester Jackson...buyer beware.
Illegal activity
To all of those who complain that safe touch security is a rip off. I worked for safe touch for 10 years as a technician and as a manager. Those of you who need more information concerning their illegal business practices and those who are not licensed in the state to do installations. They have violated many laws and business practices. I left the company a short time ago under fire and am willing to talk to anyone who has had a problem with them. I am still in the industry not with safe touch. contact me for more information. Lester, bruce, and marc will definately not like this.

Don't bother buying. Much better systems on the market for much less money. Their warranty is good until they decide to change the terms and not tell you. I've had multiple panels replaced under the warranty, now the panel is not covered. Costs $350! A newer and more updated alarm costs less!
I signed a 3 year contract and was told it was lifetime, all inclusive, and that the $3000+ I signed up with meant no other fees. Then I was getting charged $7/mo, then they upped to $15, then they upped to $46 once the 3 years was over. This makes no sense to me. I went with them as a better deal long term and that did not end up being the case. I feel like I've been held hostage. This is EXPENSIVE. I feel lied to and taken advantage of, and that there isn't anything I can do. They talk in circles until you give up .

History.--s. 1, ch. 2010-58; s. 39, ch. 2011-194
I recently received a letter from Safe Touch that I must pay $199 to maintain my current level of service for some equipment to be installed so it will work with AT&T 4G, since the 2G is going away. They provide you with another option for $99 but then you cannot montior with your smartphone. However when you ask about canceling then they say you still have to pay. What choice do you have?
Although it is the responsibility of anyone entering into a contract to read the terms, the salesman do intentionally mislead the customer that they are paying for a three year contract. In Tallahassee, Safetouch's business partner AT&T is shutting down the 2G network on which their communicator is set up. They now expect me to purchase additional equipment to keep the system working. The contract does not stipulate that the user must purchase additional equipment. This is a breach of the contract . If they do not provide working equipment for free, my service will be done.
I contacted safe touch when my contract had expired and was told because I did not do it in writing they would not cancel my contract but indeed lengthen it for 2 more years I told them since they went from 27 to 47 dollars a month it was cost prohibitive for me. I told them on a fixed income I did not have the ability to factor in the additional expense Their response was fine we will let a collection agency do it! Very much a case of elder abuse
I too was bitten by the auto renewal rat embedded in the Safe Touch contract. I did write Safe Touch to cancel the first month after the three year interval. Safe Touch continued to bill my card and when I called to complain, I was told that my contract had already auto-renewed for two more years because I did not notify the company in writing within sixty days BEFORE the end of the contract date. It seems that the company uses any means to play gotcha and is not customer friendly at all. I will continue to pay them so my credit is not ruined, but I am also going to pay my new company since I am replacing the Safe Touch system with a new one. For me the money is not the issue but rather it is the lack of ethical character displayed by this business. I can promise that none of my friends will ever use the company because I am spreading the word.
I too was dumbfounded to learn that it was not enough to simply call and cancel my service after three years, which I did. The company automatically renewed me for two more years despite me calling because I did not notify them in writing. I am sure they would send me to collections if I did not pay but the final laugh is on them because I am now telling everyone I know about my negative experience and the company's horrible business ethic. They will run out of customers eventually if they do not change their deceptive and unethical practices.
i vae sold my business bc of financial hardship and safe touch says i have to pay if new owners dont use them for the next 4 years on a business i no longer own. this is a horrible company to kick someone while they are down. im not trying to leave them, just trying to salvage what is left of my life and they dont care. they want their money and thats it
I have had Safe Touch for over 3 years and I can tell you they are the quickest response time I have ever seen. You just can't beat the 2 way communication that verifies what the emergency is or the fact that it eliminates all false alarms. I had "the other guys" and a had nothing but false alarm fines from the county.
I want to prevent robberies, but all I had was false alarm fines from the county when I had a security with the other guys. "You get a security system to not get robbed", but now the county is robbing you because of an inferior system and poor installation. You need to switch to Safe Touch! Stop paying other companies for a false sense of security! Everyone needs to know that Safe Touch Security is the best choice and the only security company that is "The Real Deal!" Safe Touch is a true security system!

Was looking for a security company.. a guy named Aaron came to the house. He had been schooled on the sales talk, but didn't know what was in their contract. They like to promote the wonderful local monitoring and the fact that it is a hardened facility... but if you read carefully they can sell your monitoring contract or the maintenance of your system to anyone they want should that be their desire and no, that's not reason for you to break the contract. So it's a lot of money up front and a 3 year contract, with SafeTouch monitoring... or maybe not. When I told Aaron we were going with another company he was completely rude telling me I chose the worst system out there... bla bla bla.. or should I say boohoo.
So, please folks... keep the contract over night, read it ... because one thing is for sure... SafeTouch is mostly concerned about themselves.
