SANFORD BROWN IS A WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY DON'T BE FOOLED OR ROBBED, INSTEAD OF THE MA COURSE I SHOULDA PAID THE 600 DOLLARS AND TOOK CNA CLASSES 1PERSON OUT OF EVERY GRADUATING CLASS WILL SUCCEED IS THAT ONE YOU
PROBABLY NOT BUT IS IT WORTH 20, 000 TO TRY
BEEN @ Sanford Brown for six months, after many classes and ten books later I finally realized SB is a business more so than a Institution,
BEFORE YOU ENROLL THERE ARE SOME THINGS YOU SHOULD CONSIDER FIRST
#1 CLASSES ARE ALWAYS CROWDED, IMPOSSIBLE TO LEARN THE CURRICULUM WHEN MOST OF THE INSTUCTORS ARE RECOVERING DRUG ADDICTS
KISS MY ### SANFORD BROWN
#2 WORSE THAN WALMART SB EMBEZELS MONEY FROM IT'S STUDENTS, OVERCHARGES ON BOOKS, TUITION, AND EVEN "LAB FEES" THAT SHOULD ALL BE ASSOCIATED WITH THE COST OF TUITION
#3 SB IS A EOE WHICH IN THIS CASE MEANS THAT GAYS, LESBIANS AND TRANSEXUALS ARE ALL WELCOME TO ENROLL, (NOW UTALKING ABOUT DISRUPTING THE CLASS IF U SEEN A MAN DRESSED AS A WOMAN WOULD U BE ABLE TO FOCUS )
#4 uNDEREDUCATED STAFF, MOST OF THE INSTUCTORS CLAIM TO BE PROFESSIONAL BUT THEY FLIRT WITH THE STUDENTS, THEY ARE SO DISORGANIZED HALF OF THEM DON'T TEACH (INSTRUCT FOR MORE THAN 30 MIN EVEN IF IT'S A 4 HOUR CLASS
#5 THE SCHOOL IN DOWNTOWN PGH IS SO DIRTY THAT AT ONE TIME THERE WAS ROACHES, NO HEAT AS OF YET, IT''S OCTOBER, THE COMPUTERS DON'T WORK AND MOST OF THE TIME THE BATHROOMS ARE IN HORRIBLE CONDITION
AND WITHOUT GETTING PERSONAL THE SCHOOL REALLY IS NOT WORTH THE MINIMUM 20, 000 YOU'LL PAY FOR WHAT SEEMS LIKE A WELFARE CLASS
SO BEFORE U DECIDE TO FURTHER YOUR EDUCATION MAKE A APPT WITH CCAC TO CONFIRM THAT U WILL GET THE EDUCATION THAT YOUR PAYING FOR AND NOT JUST SOME SCRUBS!

suggestion:do not go here.
I went to the sanford brown northloop location.I went through the whole program for pharmacy technician. The whole time there was a waste. We would start class, at the beginning of each class we were supposed to be provided with books.we would go weeks without them.we had to go to the president of the school to get them, because the director of the pharmacy program kept giving us lies, and bs.I was supposed to come out of it being IV certified, they told us last min that we had to pay $100 for the book. But never received them.when we were supposed to have them for the class.not even when i was about to leave.had to go through a lot of unnecessary crap to get my money back.also with my internship, they would say I was cleared to go.Then a week later I get a call saying I wasn't cleared and I probably won't get credit for my hours that I did that week. Then I would do what they told me I had to do, then they said i was good to go again. So I would go back to my site, then I get another call saying I still wasn't cleared, and that my hours wont count. So I stopped going to my site, the director was supposed to call me when I was good to go again.Didn't hear from her for a week.So i tried calling her, always got voicemail.i left several messages. Then I get a call saying I am considered a dropout! I was furious! i told the lady what was going on, she said they told I never went to my sight.Because I was not cleared. She was shocked when she heard that I had been putting in hours.I told her that i left several messages for the lady to call me.she never did.turned out that i owed more money.but i already took out two loans and also had a grant to pay for my school.at the beginning i was told that everything was paid, and now i owed more money!i was not about to get out another loan to pay them when all i did was get ignored.I would not recommend this school to anyone! they are all about themselves.all they want to do is take your money and not give you what you paid for.you will not recieve a good education from here.I suggest you go somewhere else!

My girlfriend goes to that school and tells me that they give her home work and test but they don't tell he what to study or explain the work given.
students have dropped out the give a lot of home work be don't explain how it done the teacher want the to only have 2 hours of sleep.
One of the teachers told a student that had a 4 year old child to study and don't and not to give her child time a to let her child to do his own stuff. "he told that parent to tell her child it's mommy's time I don't have time for you".
The teacher's last is MR.Garcia.
Sanford Brown South campus has an racist for a surgical technology program director. She has an associates degree, and has not even completed college algebra. Her goal is to intimidate not educate students. DO NOT ENROLL at this school. The cost is in excess of 2o thousand dollars. You can take the same program at a community college for much less. This is a definite rip off
Should be called &Financial Aid Liars&
Was granted full tuition in FAFSA, Pell Grants, Workforce Grant, and had a low balance to pay. Made clear that before enrolled, they would grant me a Stafford Loan for the maximum amount. Since the State of NJ pays one half tuition in Sept, then the other half in Dec. The school got the Sept payments, and decided they were going to take the money (they were given to disburse to me) out of my Stafford Loan to complete the tuition. And then pocket the rest of the money the State would give them in December. Leaving me with a Stafford Loan payment, and they earned almost double to tuition from stealing almost a total of $25, 000, when tuition is only 13, 950! Contacting the Dept. of Ed, Labor, and Better Business Bureau. These people will lie until they are blue in the face, and do anything to get you to sign on the dotted line and pocket your money. Also, may I add, they are extremely prejudice. I am half Puerto Rican, but look 100 percent Caucasian, and I saw how they treated me because I did not look like a minority. They catered to students of Spanish Descent, and African Americans. First time ever I have been discriminated against and looked down on because they automatically assumed that I was white therefore I should have money. Do not go to this school. I wish I had taken the terrible reviews I had read seriously before I enrolled.

rip offs that run USB accounts
To anyone out there who is considering attending Sanford Brown College or Utrasound Technology Institute, please run the other way. This school is not a legitimate school and are rip offs with UBS accounts. They cannot offer legal courses that allow you to get licensed when you graduate. The contract is not a college admissions contract, but more like a car...

Sanford Brown will say whatever they have to, in order to get you to register as a student. Their programs tend to be slightly outdated, specifiaclly their dental assisting program. Their focus is more on technicalities of the state so they can stay open tho they really dont comply as a teaching device. The space offered, student to techer ratio is also something they lie about. i was thrown into classes with people who were just joinin the program so half of my classtime was teching students things i already know. i found my own extern site, which is what they offer. They focus on tedious things that have nothin to do with the education process, such as end of the mod surveys focusing on how you feel about your techers, and even if you complain nothin is ever taken care of! i could seriously go on all day. save youre 14000 dollars and just talk to students there other than myself. they will tell you to run run away!

Professionalism
This school had recently been the biggest pain of all the school i ever had attented. This by far is the worst school. From the employees, teachers, and students. First, two weeks before i was supposed to start my externship i have found out that i owe money to the due to my funds being taken out earlier from a previous school. Ok no prob but the worst part is nobody had come to at least inform me possibly thru a email maybe then they couldnt explain to me properly of why the funds was taken the head director wasnt exactly being very sympatheic about the situation. She had the nerve to have an attitude. Im sorry but when someone found out they owe at least 2000 and it supposed to be paid off in 2 wks My state of mind was just thinking how the hell im going to pay for this? i have come a long way and completing the school was a big achievement for me and my family. In my opinion, there is a reason why she was made head director and i didnt see none at all, especially no professionalism. Yes i am a student but without us your students they would not be getting paid. Then before we leave for externship, we are supposed to hand in our medical clearance form. I know i had gave it in because my doctor office had made a copy of it and I kno for sure i hand it in. They told me they dont have it mean while mentioning that someone who was working there likes to take files. Its medical form we are supposed to trust the school wit confidential documents.
Now that all taken care of, my next problems was getting answer regarding my clinical site. I feel like im playing phone tags with the career services so called professional people. Its been 2 and a half week...im supposed to be done in another 2 weeks but I havent even got a site yet. They called me ask me question but when i want answer i never get it, i alwys gota go thru 2-3 people just for a simple yes or no. I feel like the price i pay to get my education was not worth it I might as well had went to a 4 yr college...no students shuld be going thru all this obstacle when all this supposed to be taken care of asap. I would never ever recommend this school to anybody. All they care is money and being on time wit your payment. They sdnt care if ur education was sufficent or not. DO NOT GO TO THIS SCHOOL!

i have never been so discouraged about going to school. its like i finally reached a point in my life i know what i want to do and accomplish until i got in a specific class at sanford brown institute of ft lauderdale and experienced unprofessionalism where the teacher got up and charged toward me and started to yell at the top of her lungs. i asked her a question about a paper she graded and handed back to me in which i didnt fully understand why i got the grand and she responded to me and a rude and direspectful way and talked to me as if i were a child. i let her know i dint appreciate the way she was coming at me and things started to get out of control. we went back and forth until she actually got out of her seat and came charging my way pointing her fingure at me yelling at the top of her lungs. now i feel as if i want to give up on everything i have accomplished because of this one teacher that just changed my thoughts on education. i dont know im just hurt and it really affecting me

Sanford Brown Institute (SBI) is governed under the parent company Career Education Corporation (CEC). CEC has been in the news constantly over the last several years, including an episode run on 60 Minutes, and has horror stories posted all over the World Wide Web regarding school closures, unethical business practices, deception, fraud, lies, federal government funding, and just about any other ripoff one could imagine relating to this substandard diploma mill of a company who preys on who they fondly like to refer to as "students." CEC is one of many for-profit educational facilities who are currently being investigated by the federal government, due to the fact that these schools are notorious for providing substandard education in return for leaving a student with no education, no job, and nothing else but thousands of dollars to be repaid in student loans. I know; I just attended SBI for a short 6 weeks and have fortunately been able to see through their cheating plot of deceptive lies. After withdrawing, SBI is now in the process of mishandling my federal student loans behind my very nose and has, in my opinion, crossed yet another boundary in their relentless efforts to continue their motto of unethical and deceptive business practices.
I don't care how old or young you are or what any of these for-profit educational facilities tell you, RUN FOR YOUR LIFE! Do not even consider going to one of these diploma mills! If you want to spend 4-5 times the amount of money to sit in a classroom, learn nothing, acquire no useful education or skills, and then expect to get hired by a company who sees Sanford Brown Institute on your resume, forget it. You will be left holding the bag, like many others, with nothing left but a HUGE DEBT to repay, wasted time, and crushed dreams.
Do your research first, please. You deserve better for yourself! We cannot continue to let these proprietary, for-profit leeches rob the federal government and the taxpayers anymore!
Sanford Brown College is a total fake. They view their students as nothing more than dollar signs. They don't care about them at all and don't really care if they are successful or not as long as the college gets their money in the end. The professionalism is a pure joke. They are rude and nasty and I have been dealing with this bull for a while now. I strongly encourage if you are considering this college GO SOMEWHERE ELSE! This school is fake fake fake fake. You will not learn anything and will be unemployed after graduation. I was enrolled in the Medical Assisting diploma program and was told after attending for a semester that I would not qualify for the certification testing. The whole point is to get certified to work in hospitals or clinics or elswhere. Most major employers will not hire you without certification. Something is definitely fishy about this college and I hope that they are exposed. I do not see how a diploma program can cost a student over 16, 000 dollars. This makes no sense at all.
False information
I had just registered to go there. I started a week and a half ago. I can not believe how manipulative those people are. They lie up and down, they do not give you all the facts. I went in yesterday to tell them I was going to withdraw and to stop my student loans, and at first the guy tried to bs his way out of me trying to withdrawl, then he really did a low blow thing.. he used the fact that I had said I was doing this to better my future and my 8 month old sons future.. and he told me that because I was giving up I am a poor mother..
First off I never said I was giving up, I said I was going to find a different school that didn't try to rob $45, 000 out of peoples pockets and second off I work my butt off for a job and support my child just fine.. at least I don't work for a company that has no morals...
They tell you that in order to go into the ultrasound program you have to take the MA program, which is FALSE. They are just trying to collect $14, 500 from each student who is trying to go into the ultrasound program. Then to do the ultrasound program that is another $34, ooo. But what they don't tell you is that they are not accredited, so when you graduate you can't sit for your boards, and nobody is going to hire you without being certified.
my best advice.. do NOT waste your time or money going to this school!

This is formerly Gibbs College and a good ripoff program.
I was taken and let down by sanford brown (formerly ultrasound diagnostic school)
I lived in Chicopee Falls, Mass before moving to Nevada. This school has let me down big time. I graduated top of all of the classes that were in there at the time I went (from July 1999 to March 2000) when it was still called UDS - Ultrasound Diagnostic School. It then became Sanford Brown Institute. Before I moved to Nevada I was told that the career...

I am currently in my fourth mod at Sanford Brown, I have complained about the lack of teaching. I have had a few teachers that have not taught me a damn thing. I have complained repeatedly to the Director of Education at S.B. and nothing has been done. I am not the only one complaining. I have 6 other class mates who feel the same way. I am paying for an education, but I'm not receiving it. They lied to get me into this school. I wanted weekend classes or night classes, I was told that they didn't have any. They had me sign up to fill there day class and then after a few months I found they have night and weekend classes, but I have been told I would be starting over if I changed. I am halfway through my year and I still have no clue on how to do blood pressure! I am there to learn, but they don't have teachers who want to teach. What can I do? I want my money back! They are a complete Rip Off!

I am currnetly enrolled at Sanford-Brown and there is fighting in classrooms and The administrators don't even remove these animals from the class room Who do we complain toOOOOOOOOOO!
I am scheduled to start S.B. in September for their medical sonographer program. I am a little concerned becasue I did a random search and have come across multiple complaints like those above. Is this school really that bad or am I missing something. If someone could email me at cmd82242@aol.com about their experiences I would appreciate it. Thanks.

OMG, I was told the same thing. I wanted to join night classes in January and they said they didn't have any. I just started the evening program in April 09, Pittsburgh, PA.
I have one teacher that doesn't teach at all. There are several disruptions in the classroom and profanities by the students.
The students miss way more than 25% of their time but are still are allowed to attend school one day per week to keep their financial aid. They make them come so they don't have return their Title IV funding.
They are a FRAUD. Please report them to their Accreditation Program listed in their handbook.
Hostile work environment
I was an instructor for the MA department and was targeted by the Dean of Education from the first day I started with the school. I was accused of outlandish behavior and wrote up twice for it without their being proof or a basis for the write up. We were told as instructors that we hit the classroom because our references and experience had proven when checked that we are professional, ethical, and qualified to be in the classroom but the Dean believed nothing I had to say and treated me as if my word didn't matter.
The Dean told me on 2 occasions to have meetings with my co workers because I had been accused of being the "weekend supervisor" or the "head instructor" even though I had just started with the school and had never said as such. She told me to let my co workers know that wasn't the case and to make sure they understood I was not an informant for our PD. I did as told, held 2 different meetings, and then was written up by the Dean. I was accused of not being professional when holding these 2 meetings and supposedly a few of my co workers complained about my attitude. I asked that those accusers be brought into the meeting with the Dean but the Dean refused to let me face my accusers. The Dean, on 3 occasions, when she requested meetings with me and accused me of something, never let me face my accusers. She could never back up her accusations against me she only wrote me up, I believe in an effort to get me out.
I wasn't given a chance to speak for myself against her accusations I was only written up. Again, I wasn't given the opportunity to face my accusers, defend myself, or be heard. I went to the President of the school where I was met with "I don't want this to continue into 2009, it needs to stop" and smirks on his face as if I was a joke. I told the President that "I couldn't stop something that I didn't start, do, or carry out". Again, I felt as if I had no one in administration who cared to hear me or help me in this matter with the Dean.
After 2 months of nothing but receiving accusations against me, not being defended by administration above the Dean, fighting for my job only to realize the Dean wanted me gone, and feeling like the President took this as a joke, I resigned my position with SBI Tampa unable to take the stress any longer.
I was an instructor that was strict but my students learned. I was met with resistance the first week of each new mod at my requirements of my students but I assure you that when asked, any one of them would tell you by week 2 they were learning and happy to have me. When I left my students were upset and didn't want me to go. They told me, "We haven't learned this much with any instructor, you will be missed". I miss them too and I miss teaching. I was able to develop a rapport with some trouble students and kept them in class and in school earning decent grades. It was rewarding and a learning experience I will never forget. I only wish that the Dean was not put in her position because clearly she is unethical, unprofessional, and not of an impartial mind. She plays her staff against each other to get her own reward.

Unamed,
My name is Dave Scholl and I used to be dept. chair for a the allied health dept. at a school called Brown Mackie College here in northwest Indiana near Chicago. I have to tell you that your story mirrors many form the campus I left andf filed an EEOC complaint (2 sepaarte ones actually) for sexual harassment and reatliation for my filing these complaints and my attorney feels very confiednt, as I do, that we will win our lwa siuts against this campus and the sachool itself.
My point is this, after filing these complaints I was contacted by a free lance writer from Duke Univeristy who wanted to get my story and that of my students who have xperienced the exact same things that you have as well. I want to ask a favor of you in that could you please email me at the following email address your info and is it OK to pass that info on to this writer and have him contact you for possible interview for his upcoming story he is doing on these types of schools in a future edition of Good Housekeeping Magazine? I know I asked the same question you may be thinking as you read this, why would someone contact me regarding this? Because this type of practice must stop and his article and our input may be a way to make that happen I don't know. And if your wondering why Good Housekeeping, when I asked that question he told me that a lot of the readers of that magazine are single moms, which is what 70-80% of my students were as well so that makes sense.
I have had several collegues of mine check his background and he checks out as legitimate, since I trust very few people I felt it my obligation to do before asking my former students to speak to a total stranger.
Anyways, if you would like to speak to Barry please email me at jaded113.1@netzero.com or call me on my cell at [protected] and make sure to tell me who you are and what we are speaking about since I have no idea who you from the article you posted on this blog.
I really hope you and any other isntructors/students who have been at this college will really take a moment to reflect on your experience and that if you want to make a real difference contact me and I will provide the contact information to you for Barry and maybe he will do another article on this school or add it into the article already under research, again i don't know his thoughts on this.
Please do not wait, call me or contact me as soon as possible if your serious about this.
Thank you.
David M. Scholl
Graduation
After 10 to 11 months of school, I finally got to get out and go to my extern site. First of all they made my class take a mod off so that they could put us in with a class that was already 20 plus students. Then told us that if we didn't go to our extern sites by August 14 to complete our 180 hours, that we would not graduate with the class. Well after...

i started sanford brown in jan 09, i wasnt a first time college student i knew the experience that came along with school, and i know that when you are in school it should be a challenge there was not one day that i had to stress "o i have to study, they spoon fed us so much like basically giving us all the answers so for the test we just basically had to remember the answers ...so when i signed up my rep stalked me everyday even though he just spoke with me the day before and didnt tell me anymore info than the day before. i was in several classes with about 30 plus students and it was impossible to learn...on top of that the turn over rate of the staff is ridiculous, and at one point our program director was a teacher of customer service who had THE worst customer service skills, the class was out of control we didnt learn anything and we consantly complained and nothing happened. our president doesnt want to speak to her students even though since day one she said she has a open door policy so when there was a issue you go to speak to her she have you speak to someone else. i personally left her a voicemail and she had a brand new staff which was the new director of education contact me, and she was still in training and only been at the business for less than a week, so of course my issues didnt get resolved. i called the corporate and again my issues werent resvolved. i was on extern and i got a needle stick injury and guess what SBI didnt give me my proper paper work until a whole week later. o yeah while im on the subject, how about this the school has a "policy" that after 30 days of being enrolled in the school you MUST have your physical done, which includes a hepatitis test, as you all know it is a dangerous and non curable disease why were we already poking ppl in labs and come to find out that half of the school didnt have their labs and some ppl did have them but the stupid ### school lost them how can you loose ### in that small piece of ### place. so when its time for us to go to extern they start threating us if we dont have our physical papers in that we would not be able to attend school so mind you if you dont knw that most of their programs are 15 months so when it comes to the 13th month they want to act concerned for the physicals simply because the extern wont let us come be apart of their practice with out it...sanford brown makes of off 10 weeks and this is out of 30 students 99, 975.00 plus book fees and we have half the computers working, no student lounge, no heat, or ac on so to me that is a money making school and thats all they care about...they have students starting after 5 weeks for 7 different programs and thats just the day time...
