Preserve Your Precious Memories with Scancafe.com: A Review
I gotta tell ya, I recently got myself a gift box from scancafe.com and let me tell you, it was a breeze to use. I loaded it up with some of my most precious wedding negatives and other irreplaceable negatives and sent them off to be scanned. The whole process was super-easy and we were really happy with the scans (and negatives) that we got back.
Now, don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that everything was perfect. The only reason I don't give them 5 stars is because of the time it takes. I mean, it seemed to take well over a month to get anything back from them. I assume they send the scan jobs overseas someplace where that labor-intensive work is farmed out, but I don't know for sure. What I do know, is that it takes a really long time for the turnaround.
But hey, I guess that's the price you pay for quality work, right? And let me tell you, the quality of the scans was top-notch. I could see every detail and the colors were just as vibrant as they were when the photos were first taken.
All in all, I would definitely recommend scancafe.com to anyone looking to preserve their precious memories. Just be prepared to wait a bit for the turnaround time. But trust me, it's worth it.
Preserve Your Memories with ScanCafe's Photo Scanning Services - A Review
I gotta say, ScanCafe is the real deal when it comes to digitizing old photos and slides. I was in a bit of a pickle because I didn't have a working 35 mm projector anymore, and I didn't want to go out and buy another one from the Goodwill store. Plus, I had a bunch of slide trays that were just taking up space and collecting dust. That's when I heard about ScanCafe and their photo scanning services.
At first, I was a bit skeptical. I mean, how could they possibly take my old slides and turn them into digital files that I could view on my computer or TV? But I decided to give it a shot and sent in a small order of about 150 slides. When they came back, I was blown away by the quality. The colors were vibrant, and the images were sharp and clear. I knew right then and there that I had to send in the rest of my slides.
In total, I had about 500 slides that I sent to ScanCafe. I just put them all in plastic bags and shipped them off. (By the way, I donated the slide trays to Goodwill - I wonder what they do with them?) When I got the digital files back, I was thrilled. I spent hours sorting them into categories and deleting the ones that weren't worth keeping. Now, I have all my old photos and slides consolidated and easily accessible. I can view them on my big TV screen whenever I want.
Overall, I would highly recommend ScanCafe to anyone who wants to preserve their old photos and slides. The process was easy, the quality was top-notch, and the price was reasonable. Plus, it's a great feeling to know that my memories are now safe and sound in digital form.
Poor Quality Audio and Unhelpful Customer Service from ScanCafe for Audio Tape Services
I sent ScanCafe a book of tapes, 22 double-sided tapes to be exact. All of them were clear tapes of a speaker at a conference. However, when I received the copies from ScanCafe, I was disappointed to find that 14 of the tapes had poor quality audio. I couldn't hear what was being said on those tapes at all. It was frustrating because I had to listen to all the original tapes I provided to identify which of their recordings were faulty. This took up a lot of my time, and I was not happy about it.
To make matters worse, this wasn't the first time this had happened. When I asked for a refund, they refused. They even wanted to charge me to redo their faulty recording! I had prepaid for another order that hadn't been shipped yet, and they refused to refund my money for the unused services.
I'm really disappointed with ScanCafe's quality of service for audio tapes. I can't trust them to do a good job, and I don't want to waste my time and money on their services again. It's frustrating to have to deal with these issues, and I wish they would have been more understanding and accommodating when I asked for a refund.
Overall, I would not recommend ScanCafe for audio tape services. Their quality is not up to par, and their customer service leaves a lot to be desired. If you're looking for a reliable and trustworthy company to handle your audio tapes, I suggest looking elsewhere.
Preserve Your Memories with ScanCafe: A Review of Their Digitization Services
I recently used ScanCafe to digitize around 500 images, including 35mm photos, slides, and negatives. I opted for their flat-fee value box, which was a great deal. The process was simple - I just packed the box with my photos and sent it off.
I was a bit nervous about sending my precious memories away for so long, but ScanCafe did state up front that it would take about a month. When I received my DVDs and saw the high-resolution images, I was thrilled. They also made the images available on a website that I could easily share on Facebook.
In fact, I was so happy with the results that I ordered another value kit. However, I did have a small issue with one of my orders - some files were missing from the DVD. I called customer service and was pleasantly surprised by the polite and professional representative who helped me. She quickly sent me a new, complete DVD.
Overall, I would definitely use ScanCafe again and recommend them to others. While the wait time may be a bit long, the quality of the digitized images is worth it. Plus, their customer service is top-notch.
ScanCafe.com Review: Digitize Your Memories with Ease!
This website is the bomb! They offer a ton of services like scanning negatives, slides, home movies, scrapbooks, and more into a digital format. You can even order prints or DVDs! I was super nervous about sending away my priceless photos, but I did my research online before choosing them and I'm so glad I did! The service is a little slow (only because they send most things out of the USA for processing) but they tell you this up front on the web site. They email you regularly to let you know the status of your order (or you can check on the website). I placed 2 orders with them last fall and was thrilled with the results! I gave my whole family DVD's of pics they hadn't seen in 50+ years since they were on old slides - they loved it!
They also offer restoration/repairs of old photos but I haven't used them for this yet, but I won't hesitate to in the future. I mean, who doesn't have some old photos that could use a little TLC?
Overall, I give scancafe.com 5 stars! They're the real deal and I'm so happy with the service I received. If you're looking to digitize your old photos, slides, or movies, this is the place to go. Don't let the slow processing time scare you off - it's worth the wait!
Disappointing Experience with ScanCafe: Lost Files and Disorganized Slides
I recently spent almost a grand on ScanCafe to convert my 35 mm slides into jpg files. The individual slide processing was decent, but that was about it. I had some jpgs from trips I took decades ago that were no longer in the same order as when I sent them to ScanCafe. I had carefully bundled them, but it seems like they didn't pay attention to that.
To make matters worse, all the jpg files disappeared from all four discs! When I called ScanCafe, they told me that my order was over 60 days old and they couldn't do anything about it. The customer service representative was not helpful at all, and it was clear that they were well trained in how to avoid helping customers.
To add insult to injury, the slides that were once organized in convenient slide trays were now a complete mess. I can't even begin to describe how disappointed I was with this company. I would recommend that you use someone else for your scanning needs.
However, since I posted my comments, a senior person from ScanCafe reached out to me. They were able to correct some of the problems that I had experienced. While I appreciate their efforts, I still wouldn't recommend them to others based on my initial experience.
ScanCafe Review: Great Results, Terrible Service During COVID
I gotta say, I've been using ScanCafe for a while now and I've been pretty happy with the results. I mean, I had over 30,000 slides scanned and they did a great job. But then, COVID hit and everything went downhill from there. Their service has been just plain AWFUL lately.
So, I submitted 1500 images on August 12 and they said I'd get them back by September 8. Now, I know they're always a little late, so I didn't think much of it. But then, on September 22, I reached out to them and they told me they were "a little bit backed up" and had over 1 million images waiting in the queue. They said they couldn't get to my photos and that it would be ANOTHER 14 WEEKS before they could even start working on them!
I'm so angry because they didn't communicate any of this to me. Their website still says I should have my photos by September 8, even though it's already October 6. And to top it off, they keep sending me promotions asking me to send in more photos, even though they can't handle the ones they already have!
I used to give them 4 or more stars, but now I'm seriously worried that they're going to go out of business while they have my precious 1500 photos. It's just not right.
ScanCafe Review: Nightmare Experience with Lost Slides and Poor Customer Service
ScanCafe is a company that I would not recommend to anyone who wants to preserve their precious family memories. My experience with them was a complete nightmare from the very beginning. I had to go through a long and tedious process just to get digital copies of my family's irreplaceable photos. And to make things worse, some of the slides that I sent in were lost while under their control.
The worst part of it all was their customer service. It was obvious that they were understaffed, and they didn't seem to care about the thousands of pictures that could go missing under their watch. They barely lifted a finger to help track down the lost slides or provide any transparent information about what was going on or what had happened.
To add insult to injury, I used their shipping service to send in my media package, and I couldn't get any information from the shipper on what happened because it was ScanCafe's paperwork and "ownership" that was used. The company dragged their feet for so long on informing me with what was going on that the chances of recouping these items became impossible.
What was supposed to be an enjoyable and rewarding experience turned into a legal mess that I didn't need during a pandemic. It's a shame that a company that claims to be experts in preserving family memories could be so careless and unprofessional. I would advise anyone considering using ScanCafe to think twice and look for other options.
ScanCafe: A Nightmare of a Time and Energy Suck - Beware of Unauthorized Charges and Shill Reviews
So, I heard about ScanCafe from some online reviews and decided to give them a try. I ordered a kit from them last year to send in some negatives for scanning and pre-paid over $300 for the service. However, weeks after they told me they would be sending out their mail-in kit, I never received anything. When I contacted them, they had no explanation and no tracking. They said (vaguely) that it must have been lost in the mail. This certainly did not inspire my confidence in sending them my original negatives. So, I decided to cancel the order and seek scanning elsewhere.
I contacted them in writing multiple times to tell them I wanted to cancel the order and to issue a credit. There was nothing equivocal about my requests. But all I got was an endless loop of them asking me why and then trying to manage my objections. When I lost patience with dealing with so-called customer service reps who were ignoring my requests, and seemed more akin to smarmy used car salesmen, I decided it would be a better use of my time to contact American Express for a charge back as Scan Cafe seemed disinterested in returning my money for the service they completely failed to deliver. So after several weeks, American Express issued the credit and I thought I would be able to move on.
Well, wasn't I surprised then at year-end when I was going over my charge transactions for my taxes to see that, months after the chargeback, Scan Cafe took it upon themselves to charge my credit card again without my authorization. Not only is it a mystery to me why any company would think they were entitled to take money when no service was delivered, but this act was borderline criminal.
Because of the delay in discovering the unauthorized charge (on a heavily used card with a lot of other charges), it took me almost a YEAR to resolve this. I insisted that American Express re-open the investigation into this inappropriate charge and yet Scan Cafe falsely represented to Amex that I had received their service. So Amex said their hands were tied as "Scan Cafe is our customer too."
Scan Cafe was saying something quite different to me directly. That they had already issued a refund for my original charge. In fact, it was Amex that issued the refund (chargeback). But Scan Cafe had actually made that additional charge, the first when I initially ordered the service and another after the chargeback. So I eventually had to submit to Scan Cafe my entire Amex credit card detail to show them the clear evidence and math before they eventually (after MANY e-mails) agreed to issue a credit.
In a lifetime of online commerce, this was a nightmare of a time and energy suck and hands down one of the worst consumer experiences I have ever had. I even decided to close my Amex Platinum card over this experience as the credit card company handled the matter exceedingly poorly. Hopefully, I can save someone else a similar hassle by posting this.
Update: On top of all of the above, wouldn't you know that Scan Cafe retained my personal information and spontaneously started sending me unsolicited marketing e-mails YEARS after the horrible experience of not delivering any service, refusing a refund, and then charging my credit card again without authorization. Wow. Just wow. Unprofessional, creepy, incompetent. Scan Cafe will make you run out of adjectives for how galactically horrid they are.
Update2: Take note of the RAVE reviews being posted here for Scan Cafe. They are vague and unspecific and are by posters who have no other reviews. They so clearly seem like shill reviews, and it is disheartening that Scan Cafe isn't better at removing them. In my experience, the management of Scan Cafe is not only comfortable taking my money for a service they did not provide and charging my credit card without authorization, but it apparently they are not above posting shill reviews as opposed to actually correcting the REAL problems they are having with their business. Scan Cafe is a shade fest.
ScanCafe Review: Misrepresentation and Poor Quality Scans
This company, ScanCafe, has a lot of problems. First of all, they claim to have an A+ rating on their website, but in reality, they have an F rating from the BBB. That's not a good start. I found this out after sending them over 1,800 slides to be scanned and digitized earlier this year.
When they first sent me the final enhanced images, they were terrible. They were blurry and the coloring was off. I contacted their Customer Service Department and they said they would redo the scans using a higher quality scanner. But even after the re-scan, the coloring was still off. They claim to "color correct every scene individually," but that's not what I was seeing in the final images. Skin tones looked bright white and bright colors were dulled down. They even said that their editing team tends to produce images with "neutral colors," which is the opposite of what they claim to provide.
I dealt with them for over 6 months, sending over 40+ emails and making over a dozen phone calls, in an effort to get the final images to look like the samples on their website. But it was a complete waste of time and money. I own a personal scanner that is over 10 years old, and yet I can get better quality scans and more realistic colors than anything provided by ScanCafe.
I would never recommend this company to anyone. They misrepresent themselves and their final product is poor quality. I would have been better off doing this project myself.
ScanCafe Complaints 5
ScanCafe Review: Terrible Audio Quality and Refund Policy
So, I was trying to get some old cassette tapes digitized and I thought I'd give ScanCafe a try. First off, they messed up the audio on the first try - like, it wasn't even there! Then, on the second try, the audio was all garbled and messed up. I mean, come on, how hard is it to transfer some audio from a cassette tape to a digital file? But no, they couldn't even get it right on the third try - parts of the audio were just missing! And when I asked for a refund, they refused! Can you believe that? I had to go through my credit card company to stop payment. What a hassle! I definitely wouldn't recommend ScanCafe to anyone.
ScanCafe Review: Not Impressed with Quality and Missed Slides
I used ScanCafe to scan a bunch of slides a while back, like around a year or two ago. I gotta say, I'm not too thrilled with the results. I'm just now getting around to organizing the scans, and I'm noticing that they straight up missed like 4 or 5 slides out of every hundred. That's not cool, man. If you're thinking about using ScanCafe, I'd recommend only sending in small orders so you don't end up missing out on too many memories.
The quality of the scans isn't exactly top notch either. They don't look as good as they did when I used to project them onto a screen with an old school slide projector. And some of them are just plain dark, which is a bummer. Luckily, I've been able to fix them up a bit using Lightroom, but still. You'd think they'd do a better job with the scans in the first place.
All in all, I'm not super impressed with ScanCafe. If you're looking for high quality scans of your old photos, you might want to look elsewhere. But if you're just looking for a quick and dirty way to digitize your old slides, I guess they'll do the trick. Just don't expect too much, ya know?
Mixed Results with ScanCafe: A Review of Their Slide Digitization Service
I recently used ScanCafe to digitize over 1000 slides, and I have to say, I was a bit let down by the results. While their website claims that they use air to blow away dust particles that can leave black marks on the images, it seems like this step was skipped in my order. I noticed that many of my slides still had black marks from dust after they were processed, which was a bit frustrating considering the cost of the service.
That being said, there were some positives to my experience with ScanCafe. For one, their customer service was very responsive and helpful when I reached out to them with questions about my order. They were also able to complete the digitization process relatively quickly, which was nice.
Overall, I would say that ScanCafe is a decent option for digitizing old photos and slides, but it's important to keep in mind that their claims about dust removal may not always be accurate. If you're looking for a more reliable service, it might be worth doing some additional research before making a decision.

Misleading Product Information: My Disappointing Experience with ScanCafe
So, I tried ScanCafe and it was a bit of a bummer. They sent me this box to fill with my old photos, which I thought was pretty cool. I mean, who doesn't want to preserve their memories, right? Anyway, I prepaid for this thing called the ValueKit, which I thought was a good deal. But then, when I sent the box back with my photos, they told me it was gonna cost me more than double what I had already paid! What the heck, man? Apparently, I included too many photos or something. But here's the thing, their product information about the ValueKit is super misleading. They don't tell you about all the fine print and stuff. It's like they're trying to hide it or something. Not cool, ScanCafe. Not cool at all. Needless to say, I had a terrible experience with them.
Disappointing Experience with ScanCafe: Poor Quality and Slow Service
So, I decided to give ScanCafe a try and sent in my slides for scanning. Unfortunately, my first batch came back with hair and dirt on them. I was disappointed, but decided to give them another chance and opted for their Pro Service which promised 4,000 TIFF scans. However, this time the scans came back in only 79 DPI and it took forever for them to send them to India for processing. I was worried about the chance of losing my slides and to my dismay, they came back with even more dirt and hair strands on them.
I must say, using ScanCafe was a risk and I wouldn't recommend it. Their prices may be cheap, but the quality of their work is poor. It's just not worth it. I hope they improve their services or they will be out of business soon.
