So, I was trying to get some old cassette tapes digitized and I thought I'd give ScanCafe a try. First off, they messed up the audio on the first try - like, it wasn't even there! Then, on the second try, the audio was all garbled and messed up. I mean, come on, how hard is it to transfer some audio from a cassette tape to a digital file? But no, they couldn't even get it right on the third try - parts of the audio were just missing! And when I asked for a refund, they refused! Can you believe that? I had to go through my credit card company to stop payment. What a hassle! I definitely wouldn't recommend ScanCafe to anyone.

I used ScanCafe to scan a bunch of slides a while back, like around a year or two ago. I gotta say, I'm not too thrilled with the results. I'm just now getting around to organizing the scans, and I'm noticing that they straight up missed like 4 or 5 slides out of every hundred. That's not cool, man. If you're thinking about using ScanCafe, I'd recommend only sending in small orders so you don't end up missing out on too many memories.

The quality of the scans isn't exactly top notch either. They don't look as good as they did when I used to project them onto a screen with an old school slide projector. And some of them are just plain dark, which is a bummer. Luckily, I've been able to fix them up a bit using Lightroom, but still. You'd think they'd do a better job with the scans in the first place.

All in all, I'm not super impressed with ScanCafe. If you're looking for high quality scans of your old photos, you might want to look elsewhere. But if you're just looking for a quick and dirty way to digitize your old slides, I guess they'll do the trick. Just don't expect too much, ya know?

While their website claims that they use air to blow away dust particles that can leave black marks on the images, it seems like this step was skipped in my order. I noticed that many of my slides still had black marks from dust after they were processed, which was a bit frustrating considering the cost of the service.

That being said, there were some positives to my experience with ScanCafe. For one, their customer service was very responsive and helpful when I reached out to them with questions about my order. They were also able to complete the digitization process relatively quickly, which was nice.

Overall, I would say that ScanCafe is a decent option for digitizing old photos and slides, but it's important to keep in mind that their claims about dust removal may not always be accurate. If you're looking for a more reliable service, it might be worth doing some additional research before making a decision.

So, I tried ScanCafe and it was a bit of a bummer. They sent me this box to fill with my old photos, which I thought was pretty cool. I mean, who doesn't want to preserve their memories, right? Anyway, I prepaid for this thing called the ValueKit, which I thought was a good deal. But then, when I sent the box back with my photos, they told me it was gonna cost me more than double what I had already paid! What the heck, man? Apparently, I included too many photos or something. But here's the thing, their product information about the ValueKit is super misleading. They don't tell you about all the fine print and stuff. It's like they're trying to hide it or something. Not cool, ScanCafe. Not cool at all. Needless to say, I had a terrible experience with them.

So, I decided to give ScanCafe a try and sent in my slides for scanning. Unfortunately, my first batch came back with hair and dirt on them. I was disappointed, but decided to give them another chance and opted for their Pro Service which promised 4,000 TIFF scans. However, this time the scans came back in only 79 DPI and it took forever for them to send them to India for processing. I was worried about the chance of losing my slides and to my dismay, they came back with even more dirt and hair strands on them.

I must say, using ScanCafe was a risk and I wouldn't recommend it. Their prices may be cheap, but the quality of their work is poor. It's just not worth it. I hope they improve their services or they will be out of business soon.
