I cant believe there is a two page spread in the Sunday Times saying Channel 7 is showing the cricket 'live and free in HD' on a day when they clearly aren't. Its UNAUSTRALIAN. Liars, fake news, call it what you like. Its bad enough not putting the cricket on free to air, like it has been for nearly 50 years, but this false advertising just shows how stupid you think we are. Not Happy.

Thanks Channel 7, no free to air cricket. Not sure why you paid so much for the broadcast rights...we certainly are not watching Channel 7 at the moment, and I refused to be forced to sign up to Foxtel to watch it either.
TV is off and I am listening to the ABC Grandstand broadcast.
Well done!

Totally right 7 has stuffed cricket in Australia I agree with what you have said Jacharri and I would like to add I was watching a live broadcast of the test today and the ball that got Steve Smith out was mist because there were showing pictures of some fieldsmen, not only did they stuff the cricket they can't even cover what they have properly

Well done Channel 7, your coverage of cricket completely sucks, where's the ODI's we were promised, oh that's right, we have to have foxtel to see them. What about the WBBL, don't see much of that either do we, You are liars and are trying to force us all onto pay TV. As far as I'm concerned, long live SBS and ABC and give the cricket back to the network that had it before you. Look forward to the day Channel 7 goes broke and cricket truly becomes free to air again. By the way, Just a heads up, whoever your sound engineers are for the cricket that we do get to see, send them back to school, too much background noise, can't hear the commentators or the interviews for the screaming crowds and idiots with drums. Someone tell them that viewers would prefer to hear the commentators above the noise which they can't even get that right as it surges up and down. Not just my thoughts either as they are shared by many members of my community - Channel 7, you've blown it, hope it comes back and bites you on the backside!

Absolutely disgusted and angry that Channel 7's cricket broadcast is so pathetic. Promising a great coverage of all matches, and then showing selected big bash matches and NO one day matches. Channel 10 showed ALL big bash matches - a great coverage. You have ripped the public off by feathering your own nest, along with Foxtel, and not giving a damn about the loyal viewers who have supported you for years. You should be ashamed of the lacklustre product you have foisted on the Australian public.

Channel 7 has ruined my summers. Last year I watched all the Aistraluan tests, all the ODI’s courtesy of Channel 9 and all the mens BBL courtesy of Channel 10. I refuse to watch a channel that puts MKR (entertainment for [censored]s) before BBL. Thank goodness for the ABC.

Hi, call me old fashioned in regard to the lovely lady Mitchell commentating on Channel 7’s cricket commentary, but as far as I’m concerned she adds absolutely nothing to the commentary. In fact she seems to be just stating the obvious most of the time or indeed repeating her fellow commentators.
Congratulations on winning the cricket deal, but Channel 7 has long learning curve over Channel 9’s experience ...you could well do with the inclusion of Mark Nicholas to add that professional approach.
Thanks for listening
Seajay

Well done channel 7!for ruining my interest in the latest Test series with your woeful coverage. Why do we have female commentators on men’s sports? They bring absolutely nothing to the coverage, have zero credibility and are only there to satisfy a quota and appease the PC brigade. Please just have former male Test cricketers commentating not some woman who nobody has ever heard of who has achieved bugger all in the sport. As for the host could you have picked anyone with less expertise or credibility, Mel McLouchlin is just hopeless and whose only claim to fame was being hit on by Chris Gayle years ago, just woeful. Richie Benaud would be spinning in his grave.

As a woman i can not stand listening to a lady who I don’t know has ever played cricket. My husband and myself used to love listening to cricketers who have played the game and are not annoying like the lady’s you have commentating. We cant afford Kayo so watch with no sound.

Regards

Vikki

Seven's coverage of the test cricket is woeful.

Got home at the end of the First session. Australia had taken 6 wickets in the session to end W.I. innings. During the 40 minute break, Seven did not show any wickets or highlights of the session, nor did they discuss it. Not even a shot of the scorecard. Don't know who took the wickets or how. Lots of fluff and talk about big bash league and the "Stumped" quiz, which they have also ruined.

Disgraceful lack of respect for the game of test cricket, being used as a vehicle to promote the big bash... which I couldn't care less about.

Justin Langer’s negative comments labelling decisions by the South Africans as “dumb” are unnecessary and unbefitting of JL.

You’re a legend JL but stick to coaching.

I also can't see the point of having a female commentator in the test coverage team. Agree with other posters that they have no test match playing experience and add nothing of substance. I use the mute button when they grab the mic. Also what's with the over counter? It was out of wack during the second test against SA? Great idea having a progressive over ball count. Pointless when the person inputting the data is out by one bowl.

Until a female team can play a full T20, ODI or Test and destroy the equivalent men’s team, they should be sticking to commentating and making comments about any player’s playing style to their own female orientated formats of this game. Lisa, Usha and the other female players, please GF. But you know they won’t.

As for the men’s commentary, gone is the old boys who made the game exciting to watch. Someone gets a wicket, it was fireworks of excitement commentary. Mitch Marsh in the commentary box at a BBL T20 match; change the channel. Bring the excitement back man.

Is it possible for Justin langer to keep his mouth shut for an over and let someone else speak. He is irritating and says the same thing each over. Hope this is his last year commentating and stick with coaching

I agree that Justin Langer is better suited to coaching than commentating. Like Ricky Ponting they both completely dominate the commentary., rather than being part of a team. Ponting though is even worse than Langer, with him totally dominating the commentary. While Ponting was a wonderful batsman, he was a terrible captain/ leader who presided over some of the Australian teams worst behaviour, & now he is boring us senseless with his over analysis of the game like he is still captain, rather than describing the game for the viewers. I pity the other commentators in the booth with him, they hardly get a word in! Please step automatically giving ex Australian cricketers commentary jobs, as the are not all suited to it & how about giving more women cricketers a chance. Please stop the jobs for life for the boys network now!

I 100% agree. I also think it is very poor form hearing Ponting continually criticise Cummins field placements.I eventually had to stop watching it. Over the top, unfair and hard to watch. Need more bowlers as commentators. Fox commentators so much better.,

Lindsay Hope of Australia 11 June 2023

Please , please take Ricky Ponting off the cricket commentary. He rabbits on too rapidly with his endless, loud, detailed talk about what the players should be doing, does not describe the game for the viewers in a more considered, relaxing, quieter way as good commentators do. He is not the captain now nor the coach and for me just creates unnecessary continual tension in the air. I have to turn his sound off continually.

Thank you, Lindsay

Well said mate. All my friends and i dont watch Ch7 anymore because of their poor support for us cricket'ers. Stick with Ch9, they help those with no TV reception. Ch9 is the home of cricket, not Ch7
