28th of August 2023 my husband was in the cardiac unit of hospital waiting for operation I taking video of him coming back from a procedure with two nurses pushing his bed into room when one of the nurses said I could not record I said I have recorded every single time my husband has been in a hospital she said it was against policy I told her Virginia was a one party state and it was legal for me to do this no hospital had ever stopped me she left the room and got security 3 of them burst in room where my sick husband was never asked me to step outside his room he was getting upset and one nurse named Donna a BSN was trying to calm him they asked was I filming I said yes and they said it was against hospital policy I said I have not seen any signs or been told that but in Virginia I can even film a doctor, nurses or staff secretly they said absolutely not and told me that they would THROW me out of hospital if I did my husband started crying thinking I was going to be put out I told him to not be upset I would take him with me if that happened and go to another hospital then I asked Donna the nurse did filming bother her she said NO many patients have videoed her We calmed my husband down so he wouldn’t go into a full blown heart attack don’t know if this interaction caused him to be more stressed going into surgery but in my opinion it did don’t know what I will do when I get him out may seek attorney advice these security guards should know Virginia laws and they should never bust with 3 of them in a heart patients room and threaten to throw the patients wife out
Desired outcome: I would like these officers to be aware of the Virginia law that videoing is not against the law even if hospital has their rules this was unacceptable behavior and caused my husband to go into higher AFIB and I would like a apology letter
