Request to waive 2nd Penalty charge for cancellation of Flight due to illness
I Donsekerage Bernard Leo Francis Perera arrived Australia on21st Oct 23 with my wife on ticket Nos.[protected] and [protected] including a return ticket to go back to Sri Lanka on 10th Sep.24. but my wife Seetha Selnie Ariyawansa fell ill together with weakness in mobility and decided to go back to Sri Lanka much earlier on 17th Feb.24 for treatment with tickets nos.6032628087631and [protected] obtained on payment of Rs. 104400/- to Gabo Travels Colombo. as a penalty charge.
Unfortunately we failed again to travel on the 17th Feb as she was found medically unfit to travel and Sri Lankan Air Sydney was advised within 24 hours before departure and a medical certificate was sent to Gabo Travels later. As her medical condition has improved I am now in the process of arranging a ticket to fly to Colombo possibly by 20th or 27th April. But I have been informed by Gabo Travels Colombo that I will have to pay a penalty charge again.
We both are senior citizens aged 85 years. In Sri Lanka there is an Act of Parliament passed in 2011 to assist and alleviate elders in difficulties and grant special treatments over the other younger people in their normal day to day living, pecuniary help or otherwise deviating from normal practices when services are provided by various service providers.
Under the circumstances at least on this second occasion it will be much appreciated if you could find your way to waive off any penalty charge to reissue the tickets or in the alternative to charge a low nominal fee for that purpose.
