I think this law office is very greedy and only cares about how much money they can get from a person
I think this law office is very greedy and only cares about how much money they can get from a person. They are quick to use and garnish without even trying to work something out or figure out why you are not able to pay. If I wasn't a Christian I would have some choice words for these selfish people
I was told to call this agency by Credit One Bank
I was told to call this agency by Credit One Bank. I called them several times, they asked me for all my personal information and gave me a file number. I cannot figure out why they are trying to avoid giving me any information about what this is about. I am not in collections. I was put on hold 5 times! Nobody know what's going on, I spoke with Alondra D who referred me to Charles. Once again I'm on hold. This is such nonsense! Exactly what am I guilty of? Is this a scam? Why won't anyone talk to me?

I became disabled in 2017
I became disabled in 2017..within 5 weeks i was approved for disability..i was unable to pay on a credit card so it went to collections..Stenger and Stenger filed suit against me..i called to see if i qualified for a hardship since i only receive $803 a month SS..after i pay my housing and utilities and insurance i have very little to live on..they say i dont qualify for the hardship..i dont know what to do..in order to make the 2 small payments i sent them i had to go without medical supplies i need and less money to eat..
They have done nothing but harass me for an old debt that they bought from Fingerhut
They have done nothing but harass me for an old debt that they bought from Fingerhut. I am 66 years old and have heart disease. Also, my only source of incomes is Social Security (which cannot be garnished) at less than $1000 per month. Stenger & Stenger has been informed of my situation. In fact in one phone call the so called assistant suggested I could go without food to make some sort of payment to them! Now they have gone ahead and filed a small claims suit against me. Good luck in collecting. I have no children and I am not concerned about leaving any money in an estate. What a bunch of losers to have to make money this way!
Apparently the bottom feeders are trying to feed
Apparently the bottom feeders are trying to feed. Stenger & Stenger are "trying" to take my husband to court on a debt that is A. Time-Barred B. Well past the Tennessee Statue of Limitation of 6 years (its 10 years old) C. The Debt is NOT on any of the 3 credit agencies. D. Well, there is not D. Why, because they CAN NOT collection & sue on a debt the has become Time-Barred! Apparently, they are not very well licensed "attorneys" because, a smart one would know the laws of Collection. So, to Stenger & Stenger get ready for a knowledgeable legal battle. Because, this household knows its Consumer Law(s), knows rules & laws of the Federal Trade Commission, and; most important, IS NOT AFRAID TO FIGHT BOTTOM FEEDERS. I believe the FTC will be receiving the so called lawsuit (which Stenger & Stenger never sent a Complaint in the first place, just an Order to allow substitute of Counsel... Law 101, need to file a Complaint), Tennessee Consumer Affairs, & Tennessee Attorney General's Office regarding Stenger & Stenger attempt to Scam under the name of "debt collector".

I have tried contacting Stenger & Stenger about the case they have against me for a closed credit card
I have tried contacting Stenger & Stenger several times regarding a case they have against me for a closed credit card, explaining my current circumstances. Despite my efforts, I was informed that no action could be taken until the matter was filed for court, although my calls would be noted on my account. On July 3, I received a letter stating a court date was set for a hearing concerning a credit card debt of $839.22, originally from a bank now acquired by another entity, which assigned the case to Stenger & Stenger. As I am on disability with no means to settle the debt, I find myself in a difficult position. My court appearance is scheduled for July 13, and despite further attempts to reach out, I was told no resolution could be offered as the case is proceeding to court. It seems impossible to negotiate with them, and without the funds, I am unable to pay the amount owed.

A law firm is attempting to garnish my paycheck for an account with Credit One that was included in a bankruptcy. Additionally, this account has been removed from my credit report for over seven years. I've contacted them about three years ago to explain the situation, and more recently, they attempted to file another garnishment against me without any valid grounds. This account is not even listed on my credit report anymore; I've verified this with all three credit bureaus. The debt from Credit One was apparently transferred to this company, and now they are trying to garnish my paycheck unlawfully. How can they attempt to garnish my wages for an account that no longer exists? I've reached out to Credit One and they, along with the credit bureaus, confirm that Stenger and Stenger is acting independently in this matter.
08/06 request and writ for garnishment income tax refund credit for $3,257.81 CASE NO. As of 04/03/2022, this payment has not been posted to the payment site and there has been no response to several texts and emails regarding this payment for CASE NO.
I was served legal documents in April about a debt to Capital One
I was served legal documents in April about a debt to Capital One. I had resolved and paid the outstanding debt by the end of that week with another company who the debt was sold too, prior to this company. The dates of my debt being sold to another company were before the date served legal documents with this company. The other company agreed to settle at a certain price, debt has been paid off and i do have all the legal documents from the other company that can attest to this. The legal documents sent by Stenger and Stenger state there is an upcoming hearing to which i cannot get canceled. I have sent MULTIPLE emails to the email listed on the legal papers, I have reached out via their contact us form online, I have called with no answer, I have called and actually spoke to someone who then called me back and still had no idea what to do and stated they would get the proper people to call me back ASAP to cancel upcoming hearing and resolve this issue with NO callback STILL.

I filed a complaint with the Complaintsboard.com about not being able to get in touch with anybody. They sent a garnishment to my job and I called Stronger & Stenger and set up a payment plan with them which I have been paying. They never sent the release of garnishment and now they are going to take the money out of my check anyway unless they get the release form. Of course, you can't get a hold of anybody here. Sat on hold for 45 minutes and nothing! This is ridiculous. They are ruining my job, my reputation and they are being paid! Send the release form to my job!
Just received a wage garnishment paperwork from this company. I have an agreed upon settlement and have made payments as per agreement for the last nine months. I want this filing removed and my credit report updated. Additionally, the documentation may include my maiden name.
Stenger and Stenger has sued me over an alleged debt sold to them. They have garnished my wages. The debt was only $1,400. They have taken $2,213.57 from me as of February 24, 2022. This is unfair business practices. When I tried to talk to them several years ago about the old debt, they would not accept any payments other than an amount larger than I could afford. There was no working it out with them. So, it went to court. We are in a pandemic. I can't afford to have them taking extra money out of my check especially when the debt is old. They are fraudulent and claim to represent ***, which I have since learned it out of business. Please help me.
This company has already garnished my taxes, and now trying to do it again. They are over the statute of limitations, breaking HIPAA, and more. They will not return my call or send any information. I am getting well versed in criminal law, civil rights, statute of limitations, and more. I have had both personal and work insurance. They acquired this debt from another company who was also paid. The insurance company is sending proof they already garnished me. The insurance company states they would not have transferred this debt or still try to collect on it, after a period of 5-7 years. These bills they are claiming I owe are not accurate. They won't even call back or provide any assistance. The local courthouse granted the garnishment, but the notification arrived a month later. I need help.
Debt obtained that I settled with original company; now no one will answer the phone for me to discuss
Debt obtained that I settled with original company; now no one will answer the phone for me to discuss. I was served with a summons for 2 different debts from original creditor*** and I had settled with this company back in 2018. I disputed the validity of this debt and recently received correspondence from Stenger & Stenger basically saying here is copies of your credit card bills, send us documentation that you paid this off and we will review it. I have attempted to contact the phone number on this letter on multiple occasions to discuss the fact that I have moved twice since paying the debt off with a money order and I cannot locate the receipts and no one will answer the phones. I have sit on hold for hours upon hours and cannot get in contact with a person. I keep sending letters asking for contact and they will not contact me. I feel like they are going to garnish my wages next for a debt I do not owe and I don't have big fancy lawyers; how can this be legal?

I've been requesting call backs and I've never received one. I've never been able to speak to anyone on the phone about my account. I'm trying to setup payment and come to some resolution but no one ever answers the phone to do so.
I have tried contacting this company on numerous occasions without success! The wait time to speak to someone is hours without anyone contacting you! They have filed garnishment papers with the court and I am retired due to a disability and receive Medicare SSA only and have attempted to contact them to set up payment arrangements! One of the collections was settled abs they are trying to collect the balance! My SSA a exempt from garnishment and I want it removed!

My career was in the fitness industry
My career was in the fitness industry. We lost employment for 8 months due to COVID. My account ended up in collections.*** (*** Card) sold my debt to a debt collector.*** offered $1200 to settle, and that offer was upheld by the debt collector. Once back on my feet, I attempted to pay the debt and agree of the offer of $1200. I was told that the debt collector closed the account and refused my payment because I was located in *** at the time. They said I'd have to wait until a new collection agency took on the account within 2 weeks. I found this odd. I contacted the new collector two weeks later, and attempted payment. But was given an offer twice the $1200 that the *** offered. Why would I pay twice the amount for no fault of my own? This is really kicking a dog when it's down. There is no reason to jack an offer up by $900 dollars without explanation. I'm a hard working honest person trying to make good on what I owe from the pandemic. Why make money off me?

I received a court summons regarding a debt that is being handled by Stenger and Stenger. Some of the debt is not mine. They sent a fraud affidavit, which I appreciate. It does require a notary, however, and there isn't one local outside of my working hours. I have Meniere's Disease and have total and permanent hearing loss in one ear and the other is at about 70% so phone calls are not possible. I do not use the TYY phones as I haven't needed them. I have sent messages via their website about taking care of this debt prior to the court date as to not waste my or the court's time. I also faxed. I have been asking them for a payment plan or a pay off amount emailed to me. I have no idea why they don't want me to pay this debt to them.
Date of Transaction: 9/10
The amount paid to business: $550.00
Contact Person: Teresa B
File#: Withheld for privacy
Confirmation#: Withheld for privacy
Original Owner: Withheld for privacy
Nature of dispute: My debt was originally with a company that sold my file to Stenger & Stenger, which I discovered is illegal. Before agreeing to settle the debt on 9/10/10 with Stenger & Stenger for $550.00, Teresa B assured me I would receive a receipt within 24 hours. When I did not receive it by 9/15, I contacted the company and was informed that the debt is cleared, but it takes 7-10 days to receive a receipt. This contradicts what I was initially told, and I believe a receipt should not take this long to be issued. I urgently require the receipt to have this matter removed from my credit report so that I may proceed with purchasing a home. Please assist!
I received garnishment papers from Stenger on March 10, 2022
I received garnishment papers from Stenger on March 10, 2022. I called their office immediately. We settled on an amount and paid $1,000. I was told they couldn't give me any documentation of the transaction nor the proof of garnishment release to be processed. Today, March 18th I received additional papers for "continuing garnishment" granted by the court. I again, called immediately and was misquoted not only my balance but that the release was not processed until today. *** backtracked and then stated the release was processed on the 14th but there is a delay in the court. He offered to email the release to the court if they didn't receive it, later stating in the call that he couldn't do that. When I asked for any documentation, proof or receipt, I was told that they could not legally provide that to me and there was nothing else to do. This has caused me a great deal of anxiety not knowing the status of my account, blindly giving my bank account info with no documentation of the money that I have paid or the release.

Resolved account with a balance of $7,306.82 on 11/20 for an agreed sum of $5,480.12
I have settled a specific account with a balance of $7,306.82 on 11/20 for an agreed sum of $5,480.12, making a down payment of $3,600.00 on the same date; followed by monthly payments of $100.00 starting 12/30. Despite confirming my bank details thrice for automatic setup, I wasn't informed of the need to manually pay or pay online each month, leading to current issues. I received no notice of missed payments before a garnishment notice arrived. Upon contacting the company, both the representative and a supposed supervisor denied the setup conversation occurred. Efforts to resolve the issue were dismissed due to my reduced balance, and a new settlement offer was made, lessening the debt by only $500, which is unacceptable. This company's practices are highly questionable.

my husband passed away in 2016, the debt was for a gas card, and the issue arose recently in my county mediation.
My husband passed away in 2016. The original debt was for a gas card, and the creditors did not bring this to my attention until a few months ago. It went to mediation in my county, where the mediator acknowledged my inability to pay due to loss of income and severe disability. Despite this, I have struggled to remove this from my credit report as advised by the mediator. The creditors are unresponsive, and their actions prevent me from securing housing. I'm currently living in a basement with no alternatives. All other debts were cleared when my husband passed, except for this one. I've made several attempts to contact them and the collection agency, urging the creditors to correct my report, but to no avail. Their inaction feels like an attempt to harm me and impede my ability to find a place to live. I urgently need assistance.

I paid a collection account through Stenger & Stenger on 10/19 which was a settlement amount of $891.82
I paid a collection account through Stenger & Stenger on 10/19 which was a settlement amount of $891.82. I gave the company written consent in an email to receive all notifications by email. They told me by opting for emails instead, I would receive everything quicker than by mail. I told them I needed a receipt for my own purposes. They told me I would receive it in 2 to 3 days. Now it only takes a few minutes to send over a email stating the amount I paid them and the date but I waited the couple of days. Today is 10/25 and still no emailed receipt. I called them today and now they said it will be 7 to 10 days for the email. I need the receipt because even though I paid the debt in full on a Tuesday, they still garnished my check on that following Friday. They didn't put a stop to it or anything so my employer need that email stating I paid them to stop the garnishment and they know it. Now they're telling me it will take 30 days to receive that money back, they took out of my check. I'm due to get paid again soon so if I don't have that email, they're gonna garnish my check again. Then it's gonna be the 30 day process again to get my money. This isn't right. All I'm asking for is a receipt for money I paid them and they won't give it to me.

This company has entered a judgement against me and I am already on a payment plan for another bill
This company has entered a judgement against me and I am already on a payment plan for another bill. Case #*** Stenger & Stenger has entered a judgement against me and I am already on a payment plan with Stenger & Stenger for a different bill. I have never been contacted about this new case and only found out because I received a letter from a different attorney asking if I wanted to file bankruptcy because she reviewed public court records and it said I was named a defendant, because I'm being sued. Why would they file a judgement against me when I am already on a payment plan through their office? That is not fair to me to now have been sued twice by this company when I am paying off my debt. This is all public records so anyone could look this up. I saw that another person went through the same thing in March this year. He was also on a payment plan but they filed another lawsuit against him. All they would have to do is pick up a phone and call! I want the lawsuit dropped (both would be great since I am paying my debt)! I would also like to make some kind of deal with this second bill to not have to pay the full amount. Both of these cases are in reference to accounts I had with ***. I am almost done paying off the first one and since they have now sued me again when it was not necessary, I think it is the least they could do!

Stenger and Stenger and I have been playing phone tag for 3 weeks
Stenger and Stenger and I have been playing phone tag for 3 weeks. They refuse to leave me their direct line to their *** office who has my info. I have been in contact with Stenger and Stenger through their main line phone number. Each time I call I tell the receptionist that I need my account info and payoff and she asks what state I'm calling from . I am an *** resident so I call from *** and she transfers me to their *** office. This office in *** has no public phone number for me to call and they refuse to give me a direct line phone number to this office by always just transferring me from their main number . When they call me from their "***" office it shows up as their 888 phone number and once again they won't leave a message . This process has repeated itself over a 3 week period . Once again I called today 3/2 on 3 separate occasions before I called the main line phone number which resulted in the receptionist transferring me to the *** office that never picks up their phone. I'm beginning to think they don't have an *** office at all. It shows an office in *** but has no address or phone number to contact them . How can I settle a debt if i can't get any info ? Also , I don't believe the original creditor has ever taken me to court so they may be trying to collect a debt on an account that has never even had a judgement against it.

Served at my home in Tennessee with a summons to appear in court by some lady (not a sheriff) for an account they couldn't give me accurate info
Served at my home in Tennessee with a summons to appear in court by some lady (not a sheriff) for an account they couldn't give me accurate info on. Some random lady showed up at my home back in Fed. 2020 with a summons for me to appear in court. The dates were not correct on the summons, the balance was not correct, & the representative could not verify accurate information on me or the account when I called the office. I checked with my local county clerk & it appeared no records were shown of me having to attend court. They were apparently trying to use a scare tactic to get me to pay them. I talked to a couple of representatives with the company between February & March before this COVID-19 pandemic hit & still didn't get accurate information on this collection account but they have been charging interest every month on the balance that they have on record at their office. This is the only negative item reporting on my credit report & has a very high impact on my score. I also understand that they purchased this account for pennies on the dollar & they are trying to make money on this account even though the original creditor has already charged/writtened this account off. Since this company couldn't provide me with accurate information on this account but they are charging interest causing the balance to increase & affect my credit negatively, they need to stop charging monthly interest to this account, remove this account completely from my credit & not contact me again about this account matter!

Filing a complaint for harassment of a mentally incapacitated elderly woman
I am lodging a complaint on behalf of my soon-to-be 84-year-old mother who has late-stage dementia. She has been medicated for memory issues since 2016 and is now bedridden 98% of the time, with a very limited vocabulary. As her power of attorney since October , following a serious car accident, I have managed all her affairs. Despite informing this company and other credit card companies of my role and her mental condition, this particular company has continued their pursuit for nearly two years. All other creditors ceased collection efforts upon recognizing her dementia. I followed legal advice to cease payments in 2019. In January , they were still after her. I provided the company with extensive documentation of her mental illness, including doctor evaluations, neurological tests, and medication history. They initially agreed to drop the matter if incompetence was proven, yet later requested more information, seemingly doubting her illness. They inquired about account details, payment plans, and witness statements, which is outrageous. As the sole caregiver for three family members with this disease, I am burdened with immense responsibility. This company's actions are a form of harassment, causing stress and mental anguish to both my mother and me. Their greed is appalling, targeting a mentally ill, dying elderly woman. I intend to file a lawsuit against the company for harassment and the undue stress they have inflicted. Their tactics, including a background check to determine if she was military personnel, are invasive and unnecessary, detracting from my own well-being.

I got a letter from Stenger and Stenger the first week of September
I got a letter from Stenger and Stenger the first week of September . I called the following week and no one EVER answers! I called all the numbers on the letter trying to get a payment arrangement set up as I am no longer able to work since I am the sole caregiver for my 97 year old father. I simply wanted to split amount in half. I called every week and sent 2 emails to them up until mid November. My Dad got sick and I honestly forgot. On Dec 4th I got a summons for court! I called IMMEDIATELY AND ASKED FOR A CALL BACK. Nothing. That following Monday I called again using a number that was on the summons. A person named Jezon answered. I explained my situation and I told him I was able to pay off total debt. I asked that the court date be cancelled and he assured me after taking my payment information it would all be handled. Then he said the computers were slow so he could not give me a conformation number. But they would call me next day with it. A week later nothing out of my account and no email or call with conformation number. Again I called every number given to me nothing. Then I tried on my husbands phone, and surprise they answered on the first ring. I truly think they flagged my number as a no call back. I spoke to a lady named Demarius. I AGAIN told her the problem. She checked into the account and after 25 min of waiting she came back to tell me that the last person made a mistake and though they had my card info NOTHING was there to show I paid! She finally redid it and gave me a confirmation number. I did get a email 2 days later showing I paid but nothing about the court date dismissed. This company should be out of business. They are a fraudulent company. If I am dragged to court I am asking for time lost to go there and I will not pay court fees etc. I intend on taking a printout of all these complaints listed for the Judge. I hope you can help me with this. I am at a loss!

I had received a letter from stenger andstenger about a debt from an unpaid credit card I had
I had received a letter from stenger andstenger about a debt from an unpaid credit card I had. They took over my debt and contacted me to collect the debt. I had set up a payment plan and all went well, I had financial hardship and fell behind on these payments. The payments were much higher than I could afford but I really wanted the debt resolved as it is from a credit card I had in 2013. I had contacted them to start payments again, I made payments again and they kept sending me bills with an increasing total balance even though I had made payments so I requested documentation of my total debt owed and showing my previous payments made decreasing the total and why the amount was increasing rather than decreasing. I never received documentation of this. I refused to make any payments After that without knowing the exact amount I owed and why and where these charges were coming from. I felt I was being scammed and did not trust making payments anymore at this point. They eventually garnished my wages. This was a relief to me and that the debt would be paid off and I could move on with my life. The garnishment was fulfilled and I was contacted by my employer that they over garnished my wages and were issuing me a refund Check. After my garnishment was fulfilled, a year later I am now receiving notices that I once again owe them money. I do not understand how I owe them money when they garnished the debt from my wages and the garnishment was fulfilled as of March . It is now March 2022 and I am now receiving notices that I need to pay again. The manner in which this company handles things is disorderly and I do not trust them with my money or information. I will pay any debt to which I owe as long as it is not through this company that has lost my trust entirely. I feel as if they are taking much more and doing it in a legal manner. I will not just blindly pay, they had the garnishment fulfilled I want to understand how they are legally able to do this.

I received a summons from my employer on 11/03 regarding a continuing of garnishment for a credit card debt that I was never served on
I received a summons from my employer on 11/03 regarding a continuing of garnishment for a credit card debt that I was never served on. On 11/03 I received notice from the Director of my employer that she received a notice regarding a summons of continuing garnishment to withhold 712.93 from my wages. At that time, I was given two pages of the garnishment. I went to my office and sent an email to her to see if they would wait until I could call to see how they received a judgment against me without being served. I noticed the address on the summons was an old address that I had moved from in Jan. 2020. The director of my employer asked to see me and stated she had sent my summons to two attorneys on the board and would get back to me. In the meantime, I have attempted to contact the number on the summons for Strenger & Strenger several times, however no one answers the phone. Per the summons, the Civil Action file number is: *** and the Judgment case number is: ***. I feel the tactics this company is using is unfair and unjust particularly because the amount that my wages will be garnished will cause such a hardship for me. My director informed me that I only had until the 10th of November to inform her of a notice from Strengerlaw firm otherwise they would have to atleast deduct $324.00 out of Nov. 15th paycheck. She stated by law she is required to follow the summons. I am highly upset due to not being able to make any arrangements and have asked the director what date did they receive the summons because it gives me no time for me to answer the summons to be able to get a court date; she never answered. I have no knowledge the amount is correct for this credit card account that was purchased by Strenger law. I do remember many, extreme harassing phone calls from this company two and three times daily, however they would never give me information unless I verified my social. I never verified my social because I had no knowledge of who was calling me and for what. I have attached the summons and email correspondence t'o attempt to resolve with my director who I still don't understand why I'm dealing with her instead of the person who works in payroll. Nonetheless, I want the calls to stop, proof of the credit card bill, and to resolve the issue. This is overwhelming.

I paid Stenger&Stenger a check for $1,200 on [protected], After calling them and speaking to a male representative about settling my account with them, due to them suddenly placing me with another account that I never dealt with before called ***. I also asked them why *** put a collection on my account, regarding my account there with Stenger&Stenger. The representative then told me that my account is with Stenger &Stenger, after I told him that I called *** about them putting a collection on my account, when I've never dealt with them before. I also told him that a male rep at *** told me to call Stenger&Stenger about this collection being placed on my account, since Stenger&Stenger told them to put it on there since they (Stenger&Stenger) are the ones over my account. That's when the rep at Stenger&Stenger said that they were the ones handling my account. I then asked to have this account settled with them (Stenger&Stenger) on that same day, on [protected] in order to have this collection removed from my account and credit report right away. The male rep then said that they will remove the collection as agreed since I am settling my debt with them. That's when the rep agreed to settle with $1,500 instead of the $1,798 owed. He then agreed to take the $1,200 payment I said I would pay on [protected]...And take the final $300 payment, on 12/10. I have attached the $1,200 check that was completed from my bank on 11/03. Yet after they were paid the $1,200 check, They then sent me this letter in regards to me currently being with ***...instead of giving me a settlement letter with Stenger&Stenger, who said that this account was now settled...and will be closed with the last payment of $300 being paid on 12/10. They gave me this letter on 11/13 after they already took $1200 on [protected]. On the letter it says my current creditor is ***, instead of them. Yet they and *** already both told me that they are my crediter, not ***...So this now seems very fraudulent and feels harassing. I now feel harassed due to them giving me this letter in regards to ***, even though I gave them all I had in the bank, and settled over the phone with them with the $1,200 check on [protected]. I did all of that, only to receive this fraudulent letter instead of a settlement letter with their company Stenger &Stenger...and the proof or receipt of the $1,200 I paid to them instead. I now do not trust anything they have said as they still have this collection on my credit report, that has taken 38 points off my credit report...which seems fraudulent because they had *** (who I've never been with before) put this collection on my account though I've paid them consistently for 6 months straight. The first check was for $92.95 on 5/3...which I paid to them right away, after receiving a letter that they had taken over my account with ***. I then paid $68 a month from June-October, And never missed a payment, so it just seems very fraudulent and feels very harrassing, that they suddenly had ***, put a collection on my account and take down my score 38 pts on October 28...even though they had received and cashed a check for $68 a week before they did this. They also never sent me a letter about my account being handed over to ***, or ever called or asked me to pay more money to them...before they just suddenly out of no where had *** put this collection on my credit with no advance warning or letter, which seems very fraudulent. I've included attachments of the *** collection that was put on my account, which now says that $598 is owed, instead of the prior $1798 that was owed before I paid the $1,200 which they took out my bank on [protected]. I now am turning this over to you to be resolved.
