Kay Jewelers in Sanford, NC. Employee, Mya, initiated contact with my husband via her personal cell phone & accepted a cash tip. She’s served us both when we spent nearly $30,000 in jewelry but when my husband went to pick up a ring alone, she began contacting him via her personal phone. Unprofessional behavior & very disrespectful.

This incident took place yesterday, October 21, 2023, at the Kay’s Jewelers in Sanford, NC. I can send a screenshot of the text message.

My husband & I have a very unique situation that was explained to Mya & her manager, Ashley Hilliard when we initially were in the store purchasing various pieces of jewelry back in August. We spent nearly $30,000 & I can also provide those receipts.

Regardless of how a customer acts towards staff, it is extremely important for the staff to remain professional. It’s also a life skill to be respectful of someone’s marriage even if someone in that marriage is not. Mya should have more self respect than to entertain a married man & she is better than that! She is young & beautiful & has a bright future but not if she continues to sell herself short for some quick cash.

Ashley Hilliard refused to take my husband’s cash tip back in August & instead used the money to purchase a few boxes of the St. Jude’s teddy bears holiday donations.

Desired outcome: I would like staff to understand the importance of remaining professional no matter the circumstance & to have more self respect than to go after married customers. Honesty is important.
