This complaint is concerning StoneDine Cookware, advertised on television. Both the infomercial and the website advertise the product for $29.97 (+25.75 S&H). AFTER you give them your payment ifo, they ask if you would like to pay full price and get free shipping. FULL PRICE?!?!?!? NOWHERE on the website or commercial do they tell you what the full price is. You come to find out it's around $299.00 for the order. Now you're stuck getting the product shipped with no way of cancelling your order. You're stuck having to return the product and you're out $50-something dollars in the process. When you finally find a number to call they tell you they can't cancel your order because it takes 24-48 hours to process, which is BS. When I called a few hours later, they said it was already shipped. How s that possible? This is a total scam geared towards confusing the consumer and getting their card number so they could run up charges.
Here is the company website with the false price advertised.

I absolutely loved my stone dine frying pan until the handle came off. I contacted the company via phone on 11/11/11 and was told that a new handle would be sent to me. I did not hear from them again until I contacted them the middle of January of this year. They said the handle was on back order and I should receive it by the1st or 2nd week of February. It is now March 13th and I have heard nor received nothing. No e-mails, phone calls or snail mail. Zilch, zero nothing! I am going to contact them again and see if I can get the name of the CEO and contact him or her. A company with this kind of customer service or lack thereof will not last long!
I did purchase the pans and paid for them, they are great pans and i love them. My complaint is one of the pans had scratches on the bottom and paying this much for the pans and a warranty on them, I returned the pan--after contacting them and them telling me they would replace the pan---that was the first of October, 2011. They received the pan back on 10-13-11. I have called every 2 weeks since 10-13-11 and have been told the pan is on back order and I will get it in 7 to 10 days. As of today, 3/14/12, I have not received my pan and have reported them to every agency that the attorney general gave me addresses for. So great pans, but don't ever return one for the warranty! Hopefully one of these agencies can get my pan back for me.
On the stonedine website under the "free gifts" it clearly has the full price .299.97 plus shipping.
It also states for 9 additional payments of 29.97 so you can't really get mad if you misread the ad.
When you're delighted with your StoneDine and want to keep it, simply make 9 additional payments of $29.97, for a total of all payments of $299.97 + $27.75 S&H. If you are not satisfied for any reason, simply return the product within thirty days and your initial payment will be refunded (less shipping and handling) and there will be no additional payments! We'll even pay for your return shipping & handling... This was copied off the website...clearly stated and they pay return shipping IF you follow their policy! Where's the problem?
I received my pans this morning and cooked with them at dinner. I was amazed that nothing stuck in the pans. The amount o money is not bad. Anywhere else for top-line gourmet set would probably cost a whole lot more. I placed our order on Friday and received our set on Monday. Every bit worth the price and short wait.
I got caught up in the StoneDine scam too thinking i was paying around $80 for a set of non-stick pans which i thought was pretty reasonable. But when the set arrived the included invoice showed i owed 10 more payments which would make the set eventually cost around $300 which is a lot for a set of non stick pans. So i called to cancel and send them back and was told that it was too late and i would have to pay the full amount. To get out of it i had to cancel my debit card to stop the automatic monthly withdrawals. They started sending me threatening letters demanding payment and sent my account to a collection agency and it is now on my credit report. It had been over a year since i received my pans and i still get calls about once a week from the collection agency. Despite all the problems I've had since ordering i have actually used the pans every day and they are actually very good pans. Just don't use metal utensils and keep them seasoned.
The stated exactly what the cost was from the beginning.
I too have been dubbed into this offer. I think that the pans are great. However when I tried to make payment with a personal check for 1/2 of the balance and pay it off more quickly they turned it over to collection and never have presented my check for payment of the product. I am very concerned that with the state of the economy that any company would refuse payment of any type. There issue is that there is 10 (ten) payments and they mean that they are going to make it ten payments. I have yet to see my check or a correspondence from them in regards to my attempt to pay. I am going to report this to the BBB and the attorney general in my state and sing out for every one to know how they do business. Also that "special" gift of knives are awful. Those things are a waste of anyone's money. They won't cut a piece of bread.
I chose to pay in full and had no problem. I love my cookware. I ordered more of the set from their parent company in Germany.

Do you know when you dispute charges it negatively impacts your credit?
I am looking at this page because I just saw the commercial and thought it VERY odd they never tell you the price.
RED FLAG!
That still doesn't make it right what they are doing and the FCC and BBB ought to be all over them. Has anyone reported them?
I just went to the web page and it clearly says what the total price is right there on the very first page. Don't blame them for being an ignorant consumer.
You all are idiots! This offer is not the least bit a scam. They do say right up front, "Try it for 30 days for $29.95". The only victim here is Stonedine, for being the subject here.
Those who agree this is a scam are completely naive. There is nothing of a scam going on with Stonedine. They are completely upfront with their offer. Anyone who thinks they've been scammed by Stonedine just simply did not take the time to find out the details of he offer. To them I have some very sound advise, "Caveat emptor", let the buyer beware. Beware not of who's trying to get over on you, but of what you're getting yourself into.find out the details of an offer before you agree to it.
I am considering purchasing this set. I see positive comments about the pans in general. I have read the website thouroughly. The price and payment plan is laid out clearly. So I do not understand those who are complaining about the cost expected. Also, I see one regarding paying by check 1/2 the cost. I again read the website thouroughly and it states the following: "Check or Money order purchases must be prepaid in full (installment payments are not available for check or money order payments) and should include S&H (if applicable) and sales tax for those with delivery addresses in CA. Check or money orders should be sent to: StoneDine USA, 15820 Euclid Ave., Chino, CA 91708" It also give a link to click on for the form to pay by check/money order. So, aside from the those who have had delays in replacement products/parts, I do not understand the problems mentioned here. Unless someone comes up with a really valid reason not to buy, I'm thinking I will take my chances.
I live in brisbane australia, I LOVE MY SET. I paid in full, found the full cost, in very fine print. My only problem was the size of the casserole pans. 20 and 24 cm. Will have to order a bigger one. Mellissa.
*If you're delighted with and keep your cookware, just make 9 additional payments of $29.97 for a total of all payments of $299.97 + $27.75 S&H. If you are not satisfied for any reason, simply return the product within thirty days and your initial payment will be refunded (less S & H) and there will be no additional payments and keep the 11 piece knife set with Lifetime Warranty (a $49 value) as our FREE gift to you! We'll even pay for your return shipping & handling!
Found at the bottom of every page on the stonedine website... read all details especially small print before trying to purchase things
As for the set itself... it is totally worth it, if you follow the instructions the stuff doesn't stick & food tastes better since it uses much less oil to cook in.
