In July, I went to Suntrust and cancelled my checking account. The lady helping me, and myself, researched my account to see what outstanding checks and debits had cleared so as to leave enough in the account to avoid NSFs. She gave me my cash and documented that I wished to close my account and the balance was at -0-. I went on my merry way with the belief that the account was closed and I was finished with Suntrust.

A month later I recieved a card in the mail stating that I owe Suntrust $115.00. I called the customer service department and the man I was talking to stated that because there was a small balance of money in the account the account was not closed. My daughter took it upon herself to purchase i-tunes on my account thus bringing me the money to cover it. I informed her the account was closed. Suntrust honored those purchases and charged my account overdrawing it. They charged me two NSFs of 36.00 each.

I went down to the branch and the little snot that helped me was of no help to me at all. She was rude and arrogant. I was so angry that I got up and left. I called customer service and the young lady that helped me said when an account is closed the protocal with any money left over is send the money to the customer in a check. The checking account sat idle for exactly one month. The customer service representative stated that the branch would have to settle this issue. They advised me to call the branch manager which I did. She was just as bad as the woman helping me the first time I went into the branch. I got absolutly NO WHERE with this bank. I have had nothing but trouble with them.

To top it off, my payroll checks were written on Suntrust so I went there to cash them. They charged me $5.00 since I did not have an account with them. Well guess what? I did have an account with them and now they refuse to refund my $5 x however many checks I cashed.

They are not willing to help you with anything and absolutly will not accept blame for ANY OF THEIR MISTAKES. I cannot believe they say to each customer "Thank you for banking with Suntrust. We appreciate your business". What a pathetic joke!

Also, I never got my $50 gift card.

I am so pissed at Chase Bank and Amscot. Please, please, please dont ever get involved with a check cashing company. First of all, they know they can hook you cuz you will need your money when you get paid to pay your bills. So, you have to write another payday advance check to them to pay whatever bill is due.
I decided to get out of the process with Amscott after one year of this BS. I called Amscot the day after payday to tell them to please not send the check in or it would bounce. The girl stated it was too late, had I called the day before they could have offered other options. After hanging up I put a stop pay on the $551.00 check with Chase Bank at which time I was charged $27.00. This was on a Sunday. The web site stated it would take one business day to process my request. When I went to bed on Monday evening, 5/14/2011, online banking did not show where Amscot had sent the check in. When I checked my account online Tuesday 5/15/2011, Chase had honored the Amscot check even though I requested, and paid for, a stop pay and there were insufficient funds in the account. Chase reversed the $27.00 charge but then turned around and charged me a $37.00 NSF fee. Keep in mind, there was $127.00 in my checking account until this BS happened. That brought me in the hole by $461.00. Now, when I wrote a $50.00 check there were sufficient funds to carry it. Well, here it comes and Chase, once again, honored the check with insufficient funds in the account. Another $37.00 NSF fee was applied. So, I am $548.00 in the hole. I went down to the bank to see what I could do to make sure nothing else comes through and I am told nothing. The lady who took care of me informed me that for every five days I am in the hole, a $15.00 fee will be applied. I HATE THIS DAMN BANK. Stay clear of them. They are crooks.

Please, if anyone is planning a class action law suit against this bank, please contact me at hagenkarla@yahoo.com. I am willing to jump on board. They need to be stopped. The arrogance of their employees is amazing. They are robbers.
Thanks

Suntrust has had my money for 3 months saying it's a process in closing. I'm losing everything, and having to turn to bankruptcy to get things settle. I call every week and they say the same thing, it's my money. And I need it

Please contact me. I am in Tallahassee, FL and my attorney and I are preparing a class action lawsuit and an interview in the Tallahassee Democrat, followed by a daily lunch rush protest. We are looking for others who have been defrauded. It is time to draw more attention to this issue.

They just closed my account, siting it was because of fraudulent activity. I have had this account 1 week. They have 800 of my money. Another loan company will be taking my vehicle in next couple of days because i cant male a title loan payment. I have a 7 month old grandbaby to take care of. As of right now i got no explanation of why they are unlawfully robbing me, and not a dollar to my name. I am in complete disbelief and no where to turn. I am in a horrible spot. I cant get to work to make additional money, literally due to no gas for the car they are trying to take. I just started a small service business, which is impossible to run with pennies in my pocket. I am willing and wanting to sue. I NEED my money to work, to take care of my grandbaby and daughter. Please contact me! Please anyone else being robbed by Suntrust speak up! 540.607.5323 cpriceless07@gmail.com

My roommate had his own share of problems with SunTrust... and after hearing how he got screwed... I went and closed out (1 hour ago) a small savings account ($240.13) that I had with them. I could not ... with a good conscience... continue to bank with SunTrust. Well, I went in... and I talked to a young man in the lobby. I requested to close the account... and he asked me why. I told him that a friend of mine was treated poorly and incorrectly by this branch (and the manager in particular)... and that district management disavowed any kind of culpability for what happened to him and did not solve his problem. As a result, I cannot continue to do business with SunTrust.

He closed the account... went behind the teller windows... and had an unseen teller provide me my money. He came out... handed me a sealed envelope... and thanked me... as if to dismiss me. Now I might not be the sharpest knife in the drawer, but my mother (who is a retired commercial banker) told me to always count my money before leaving the teller window. I counted it... and there was only $140.13 ... basically 100$ short! He had already started to handle another customer... so I just stood behind the current customer... and told him that I was short $100.00! He was incredulous... and I told him that the amount he provided me was short... and that I demand that he provide me with the missing funds.

He said that there must be some sort of unfortunate mistake... and went behind the teller cage... and talked to unknown teller. He came back with another $100.00 and told me some story how a highly trained and respsonible teller... misread the amount... and only provided me $140.13 instead of $240.13. I was furious.

I looked at all the people who were gathered around... listening to our conversation and told them that I am really glad that I am closing my account... and that they must not have liked me doing it... because they shorted me $100.00! After wishing my fellow patrons "good luck" with their SunTrust accounts... I left...steaming mad. I would like to think that a simple mistake was made... by I think that either the teller, or the teller and the associate that waited on me... were corrupt. No proof... but I am just not banking with SunTrust any more!

The same thing happened to me only the account closed belonged to my mother. I balanced out the acct and closed it 3 days later 2 ACH debits went through and the bank paid them even though I instructed the bank not too. Suntrust advised me that I was responsible because I was a "silent co-signer" on the account. They informed me that I would have to contact the companies directly to stop the ACH or pay $35 per transaction each month to stop payment. I informed them that my mother was residing in a nursing home, judged mentally incompetent and that I did not have the authority to contact the originators of the ACH. Legally I could not stop these payments through their respective companies. The bank then tried to bargain with me that if I paid the NSF fees they would again zero balance the account and close it. The balance is still owed I refuse to pay this as I originally closed the account with a zero balance. Suntrust stated that the account was automatically opened again when the ACH debits posted that is their policy and nothing can be done to change that ...such good customer service...so per their bargaining zero balance the account just to have it re-opened again? Fool me once ...fool me twice...don't think so!

I forgot to mention that this was the Carpenter's Home Branch in Lakeland FL. I even went downtown to the main branch spoke with the manager and he refused refund the NSF charges and balance out the account to close it.

On 3/4/19 in Canton, Ga., I opened a checking account for $6, 500 with a Wells Fargo check from my existing WF account. I was changing banks due to poor WF service.

They take the check open the account and the WF account pays the check the same day.

On 3/8/19 I get a form letter telling me that their is a hold on the account.

In checking with the 800 number I find that the funds will not be available until 3/12.

Further checking with a Supervisor finds that their 'Fraud Dept' has decided they won't open the account and will 'send me a letter'.

The local branch manager Melanie Elliott [protected] has not responded to my inquiries.

I emailed her and the rep who set up the account, Emmanuel Calderon that I would be in 3/12/19 to get my $ from them.

Extremely poor service, still no idea why ST isn't interested in my business but at this time I would NOT want any further dealings with such a piss poor operation.

I posted this Holly Mill complaint and want to update it FYI. I eventually did get back my $6, 665.44 but had to get local Congressman Barry Loudermilk's office to help me. Took six weeks and if you wan to see the whole story you can go to https://suntrustsucks.blogspot.com/ you probably will see that some of that link is not shown so here it is in text: suntrustsucks dot blogspot dot com. Sun Trust totally sucks.
