I have been dealing with Synchrony bank dispute center very incompetent and wortless service, its been since February 12 2021 when I have an unresolved issue with Groupon, Syncroncy dispute center did not followed up wasted time and basically drop the ball in my case, the reps unfortunately are unable to help since there dispute center allegedly has no contact or anyone to follow up with the whole thing is a pure sham.
Very disappointed since this is the first time I dispute a charge thru my credit card very bad service.

The wait time to talk to a representative was over an hour. Once someone picked up their equipment was not working and she had to transfer me to another representative. The whole process took 1 hour and 27 minutes according to my phone log. This was after I spoke to a rep earlier in the week and he gave me the incorrect balance on my account. Disaster. I am trying to figure out why must i work so hard to spend money?
Desired outcome: They need to hire more phone reps and clarify the statements

Lowes Credit Card
I just received a new Synchrony Bank Lowes credit card to replace my damaged one. Synchrony sent it through the mail without protection such as requiring a call from my phone to activate the card. They also put a notice in the envelope that I was responsible for all charges to my account whether I made them or not. If it had been lost in the mail per their enclosed statement I would be held liable for its use. Is Synchrony Banks policy of holding a credit card customer responsible for fraudulent charges, legal under Federal and or Washington State laws? This never appeared on the previous terms and conditions to my knowledge. I have experienced fraud only twice in 35 years on credit cards and in both cases the banks immediately investigated and reversed the charges. I was not held liable on either of these fraudulent charges. My intent after reviewing this policy and the banks customer ratings is to cancel my Lowes card. I don't need it and no longer trust Synchrony Bank.

Credit limit decreased
I received a letter stating my credit line was lowered from $1, 000 to $620 based on a review and credit scoring system which predicts my credit worthiness. It seems very odd that the new credit line is $20 above what is owed on the account, which I must say has been paid every month on time and 3x the minimum due so I can get it paid off before the end of the promotional 6 month 0% interest. It was nice having the $1, 000 limit because it helped my credit score. By reading the letter, I know TransUnion had no part in your decision, in fact I don't know how you got any info from them without my consent. And, after reading about 80 complaints on the same subject, it surprises me that you haven't addressed these complaints. You've hurt my credit score along with many others that paid their accounts as agreed. My question is Why? High balances on my other accounts has nothing to do with this account, and by the way, all my accounts are in good standing, regardless of the limit. Did you hear of the pandemic we were in? Myself, including thousands of others used more credit during this time for various reasons. That should not be considered a negative thing, especially when I paid all my bills on time, thank you very much. I'll have you know that when I pay this account off in mid August, I will be closing it. I'm not going to give you the satisfaction of that action. Yes, my credit score will take another hit, but it will be worth every point. I honestly don't understand why your company treats good people like second class citizens. Oh, I know, because you can get away with it, So far.
Yesterday they decreased my credit limit without good cause synchrony reps are unprofessional and refuse help i know someone who customer service rep for Citi bank i asked her about it and she said synchrony breaking the law they are supposed to review the account associated with their bank for evaluation not credit report so i closed account with 0 balance i was told if they do anymore damage that i need find a attorney and sue them
I have an amazon store card with Sychrony Bank, About a couple of weeks ago I received a spam email saying my account was block and to click on the link to verify, I know better I am a customer service rep for another company. I immediately was online to log in on a desktop and I could not change my password with out a 1 time passcode which would go to a phone number that is not mine. I contacted customer service and was told by 1 rep it appeared I was logging into someone else's account, the call dropped on my end and i called back and was told all information is pulled from the credit bureaus, which is not completely true. They refuse to fix it. As of today I can't log in on a desktop due to needing one time passcode, As soon as it is paid off, Good bye Amazon. It has been great having your card.

I received my Capitol One Bank 2020 W-2, and it states "Cancellation of Debt". This was not a "Cancellation of Debt" as stated. This account was paid per Huron Law Group in October 2020 with monies that they withheld from my account on a monthly basis. Please correct accordingly in order that i may file my taxes with the correct document. Thanks

I have a private number that one of your reps called me on without release of this phone number. No one has this phone number and it was released by one of your employees. This should never cross the lines of business and personal information to your consumers or clients.
I am aware of your policies as well as my rights to private information regarding my personal information that has been violated by your company and by your breach of security within your company.
This is NOT acceptable as a company and I tired of the violations of rights and crossing the boundaries of the business world.

I agree with this customer. My credit limit was just reduced from $1000 to $620 because they were “predicting my credit worthiness.” My account is in excellent standing and is going to paid off by mid August to avoid finance charges. I do have high credit utilization and inquiries, however, my accounts are all in good standing and paid on time for years. You have just impacted my credit score in a negative way by this action. Well, at least your not getting any interest charges before I pay off and close this account. I wouldn’t recommend this bank to my ex mother-in-law.
All my synchrony bank accounts
I am trying to get pre-approved for a mortgage after the recent death of my husband. Over the course of a year they have reduced my credit limit everytime I pay a substantial amount on my accounts. This is making it look as if I have a high debt ratio. When they do this it drops my credit score. As soon as I get the score up it drops again. I am losing ground constantly. Synchrony credit card for ricoh 100 printer
Financed Ricoh 1000 shirt printer through synchrony bank. I was told I would finance $18K but then that amount got split into two separate credit card accounts for the same product with my name as the first account and my business partner as the second account. The merchant, Ricoma International, filed the paperwork correctly for my business partner to have the $18K financed with himself as the primary account holder and that I would be a co-signer. Now, Synchrony Bank is truing to pursue both of us for two separate payments when it should have been only one payment to my business partner. This has gone on my credit as a delinquent account because Synchrony Bank did not set up the account as we were told, and has created a separate credit card I never consented to. This needs to be fixed as soon as possible before I take further action.
Desired outcome: $18K onto one account and/or this account gets cancelled then processed according to what was promised.

My name is Inas Matta, I have a synchrony credit card with jcpenney with an account ending in 6349 and my last four digits of my SS# 1137.
I have been a loyal customer for a long time and at one point, I used to be an employee working for JCpenney in Tracy, CA. I bought some items on deferred payment which now I understand what it means, and I was making bigger payments all along thinking that my payments will prevent you from charging me extra interest. I was wrong.
I never received any notices or emails or warning that my account was going to be subjected to the deferred payment interest. Here I am jobless and going through a divorce, I got hit by 1437.14 dollars in Interest and another 66 dollars in additional interest. I had to borrow the money to pay off all my balance afraid more chargers will be added. Please help me credit me back the Interest I paid. I was not informed. It is absolutely not ethical to prey on uneducated or poor people.

i snd payment again they did same and they charge me late fees after i just turn and look the other way i sent them a letter never reply to me and 3 weeks later they close my account with no reason i have good credit and i never miss a payment if they do something to my credit i will take them to court is about time some one does something about it, i see they are doing it to a lot of people they are just dirty deal with capital one stay away from this garbage company

Parkwest gallery card financed by synchrony bank
During a land auction at Parkwest Gallery their employee raised my paddle on a piece of artwork I expressed interest in . I went along somewhat reluctantly as I was uneasy about the sum of money. The same evening I tried to cancel with Parkwest Gallery and I was told all sales are final. I reached out to synchrony bank who finances the card and was told they cannot remove a preauthorization and only Parkwest can do so which I told them they were unwilling to cooperate in writing and verbally. Synchrony tell me by Friday May 7th the charge which is not yet posted would go away. This has not occurred and I continue to get conflicting actions from the bank. How can get a resolution ?

The new transition of chevron/texaco credit cards
After well more than an hour of trying to register all 3 of my newly issued gas cards by trying to login to my 10 years plus account, chatting with 2 different agents with different answers and trying 2 different 800 synchrony bank customer service numbers I finally close all 3 cards and their was and is no concern WHY. I have never dealt with so many incompetent representatives as with Chevron/Texaco and Synchrony Bank!
Closing of credit card
Synchrony has been going across the board closing my paid off account, stating too many revolving accounts with high balance compared to credit limit (not over credit limit either) lack of real estate secured loan information (why give if I am living in an apartment) too many bankcards with high balance compared to credit limit (again not over limit) unpaid collections (not true). Here we go now. They have been closing my account for lack of usage (they ever took the high road to say what is going on (I am not supposed to be alive getting over the virus, but I can't say this for other family members they are dead also, all the accounts they closed were paid in full. My credit report is lying (do I want to contact them and get this fix not now, trying to live). I have one card on my credit report set up to take the funds out they have not done so and each time I call and tell them this they report a lie. I have a loan and I contact them once I got sick my husband lost his job they worked with us as a matter of support they emailed me saying I can consolidate all my debt as of 4-2021. Doesn't bother me that they closed them I get it but you're closing them n your score is low it's 1.7 n it was lower than this a year ago.

Closing accounts: jc pennys and amazon
Both my JC Penny's and Amazon credit cards were just closed as of 04/15/21.
Neither card was delinquent in fact had just made the payments on both cards. The credit reporting agency indicated that both accounts payments have been paid 100% on time. Received a letter indicating that the accounts were closed for do to the possible risk of not paying on the accounts. I have had the JC Pennys card since January, 2020, yes the balance is high I used it to by gifts for great grand children because their mother's job was affected by the pandemic. But yet I kept the account current doing these uncertain times.
I don't know what else would show my credit worthiness especially with the pandemic is that of paying these accounts in time. That should tell you about
my credit integrity and character. I'm just sorry that who ever is making these decisions is not looking at the impact/results of their decision.

OMG! So true! I guess they’re cleaning house of all the customers that aren’t making them any money! I just received a letter reducing my credit limit from $1, 000 to $620. My balance still owed is $600. Doesn’t that seem odd. I’m on deferred interest for 6 months, which they won’t make any money off me because it will be paid off by then. City furniture card and others
I recently during the pandemic, had breast cancer, went into remission finally coming from this pandemic where we 're hardly hit. I immediately began taking care of any out due accounts, I have paid off quite a few accounts and paying on one. I arranged for them to take 500.00 out of my account in a two week periods, while doing that received a subpoena to appear in court on another account. Tried to take care of that and by the way think they went into my bank account without permission. I called to find out what was going on, and how to finish up taking care of some of these other charges, when I spoke to the most rudest collection a women name Kathy. I asked multiple times to speak to her supervisor and she kept speaking over her, only telling me that my time had elapsed on offer, she had no idea while I was calling and sent me to another caller, who transferred me to another line and disconnected me, waiting again. This is ridiculous, she refused to get me to a supervisor, really this is what we are doing right now. What do I have to do to speak to someone with a brain, on hold now for a manager, that was crazy...before I get any financing for anything if they say this bank is behind it, I'm immediately walking away from that business and will blast them for doing business with this company, unbelievable. I'm paying and others are suffering and I'm being responsible and you have the audacity to treat me this way...really, I will put you on every site.

Closing accounts with 100% good standing - had for years
I had four accounts with Synchrony Bank. CareCredit, Ashley Furniture and a Sports Card and a card for an electronics provider. Initially, the card for the electronics was closed. I had actually never used this card, the limit was low ($1000) and I did not think much about it as I figured it was lack of use. HOWEVER, the Care Credit card came next! This credit account had initially been over $20k, was paid in full EARLY, with ZERO missed or late payments, and I have had the credit line for literally YEARS. After several years, the credit limit was dropped to $10k, as it had not been used. This was fine, it stayed that way for a long time and I figured if I needed it I would just apply for whatever amount over I needed. Then out of no where Synchrony closed the card with no notice or any valid reasoning. I eventually got a very disrespectful letter apprising me of the account closure, complained that the information included in the letter was both inaccurate and offensive... with no response at all. Next, The Sports Card was closed. Again, 100% on time payments, paid off early, $5k limit. Next, the Ashley card, again 100% on time payments, paid off early, $8k limit. Though my credit report CLEARLY SHOWS I have a 100% on time payment record on ALL of my accounts for years, with each account closure my credit rating dropped more and more... until now I am in the mid-low 600s! This is NOT due to any action of mine, this is specifically due to the available amount of credit decreasing rapidly. Within a few weeks! We are in the middle of a pandemic, and I have had to assist more than one family member by some financial means, which I have, out of necessity, done through other credit. The balances of open credit provided by Synchrony allowed me to do this without a severe impact on my credit standing, and being 100% forthcoming, my credit rating was still "good" when the initial closure of Care Credit was done. Then begins the spiral downward of my credit rating, 100% due to Synchrony deciding to close accounts I had maintained in good faith and honor. Each closure dropped my credit score, and not only had a severe impact on my credit rating, but in doing so severely diminished my options moving forward. This is how your company treats loyal and valuable paying customers? In the middle of a Pandemic when the impact is greatest? These practices are unfair and unethical, AT BEST. NOW, were I to simply "reapply" for any of these credit lines... I WOULD BE DENIED due to the higher credit score requirements I am aware are held by Synchrony to extend credit in the first place... yet it was the closing of these accounts (SOLELY) that affected my score! This is NOT a typical "risk management" decision, this is a deliberate and premeditated action on the part of Synchrony, which becomes even more clear as I look online and see the sheer VOLUME of other people this has been perpetrated upon.
Hi, this is the second time Synchrony bank has closed all my accounts with them for this high-risk crap. I have come to the conclusion that the real reason for closure is most folks with high credit scores pay their bill completely off every time, so therefore this bank is not making money on us with interest. This sounds crazy but it's true.
Cardholder for less than six months consumer account and business account cls have been decreased causing affect to credit scores to drop more than 20pts at a time. No late payments.

Synchrony just did the same things to me on all my credit with them. Amazon, Lowe’s, Sam’s, Belk, jcpenny, PayPal credit. All of which still have several thousand credit available and 100% on time payments and never late on any of my cards. I had even gotten credit limit increases on 2/11/24 then they closed every account 2/29/24 no warning. I’ve always been on auto pay, never missed payment in all the years I owned these cards, no any other creditor I had. Then I get letters saying I’m at high risk for non payment was reason for closing. I mean it’s all on my credit report of perfect history. I cannot get any further answers from them. Needless to say with every account in good standing I had being closed, my score keeps dropping! Is this what you get for always paying on time, paying more than minimum and never late? What’s going on?

Just got a email, they closed my carecredit. I got the card for my pets emergency, it's paid off and I use it here and there for botox, so it wouldn't close. Well stupid me, not only did they lower the credit line, now they closed my account. I have been working hard on getting my credit score up to purchase a home and now this is going to really hurt it.
I just wrote almost word for word the exact same complaint on the BBB site for this company. There is NO way Synchrony Bank should be allowed to do this unethical crap AND at that bank with 75% or more of the companies out there! Though I agree synchrony is in the wrong, it has nothing to do with "corporate greed". If they behaved according to corporate greed, they'd leave the accounts open and continue allowing you to use it, as that's what puts coin in their coffers.
That said, I have now also had synchrony close one of my accounts, and it's entirely because of a TYPO. I entered one number wrong on my payment account when I switched banks, and a payment failed. I immediately corrected the error and paid the account, but they closed it anyway, with no warning, and refuse to reopen it.

They closed my pandora jewelry account, then my rooms to go (both paid off and never late) recently closed my mattress firm account with a $2000.00 balance (also paid on time) wtf - you are messing with peoples lives - this can effect the ability to get a home, car or buy land.

Just today i got a letter saying they closed my Mor Furniture account when that account has always been paid on time and was actually already paid off. So, it's not just me getting hosed over?!? I also had accounts closed out of nowhere.
First was a credit card I got about 3 years ago. I got a $1500 limit, never used it. I think I applied for a credit increase last year, to which they REDUCED my credit line to $200. A few months ago, they closed it, still having never used it.
Now, they're f'king with my Amazon card. I have been strongly responsible with this card, never spending anything close to my limit. I got my limit up to $2000. Recently, I used my card for some purchases, no more than about $150 used. Some of those items were returned for refund. What they didn't tell me is that they refunded me via a gift card and not my Amazon card, so, I didn't know I had a bill/balance because they never sent me one. When I saw this a few days ago while trying to make another purchase, I requested that my late fee be waived, and they did. The next day, my credit line was reduced to $140! One measly dollar over the renewal fee for my Prime membership. Uhhhh, NOPE! Paused that s*it with a quickness!
I still have my PayPal account, which, I'm sure, they're licking their chops to snatch that up, too.
I, too, got the lack of info on a mortgage? (which I don't have) and high balances on other cards as reasons. This would make sense if I was applying for an increase or new credit. But, to just F with my credit even more with some BS like this?!? WTF?!?
It boggles my mind that these "credit bureaus" and their practices are even legal. You basically have these for-profit corporate companies (The "Big 3" bureaus) operating like the Mafia. All the little crime family subsidiaries work together to make up all these bogus "scores" and rules that just set people up for failure. You don't get a choice in paying into their "protection" and all the BS that comes with it. THIS is why people are broke and can never get ahead. Like I was, you're forced to accept the deviously high interest rates as a handout because they're the ones giving you a chance. But, they make it impossible to advance beyond the curve so that you don't get trapped in a situation of never being able to repay your debt. They give you a few crumbs for a good payment history. But, will take the whole dish and 60 points if you're late by a day ! You don't even have to be irresponsible. You just have to need them and that's where they get you. Then, they just maniacally destroy you.
Exactly the same thing ...0 balance perfect payment history closed account after pulling unauthorized hard credit on me saying my balances were too high...they pulled the report 1 time and it hadn't cycled through again to see that all my accounts get paid off every 30 says. What evidences that it's unjustified and follows no real criteria...They originally approved me for credit when my score was much lower and debt ratio was much higher than it was at the time they closed the account

Unresponsive, difficult to contact regarding ongoing dispute
This has to be one of the WORST customer service experience I've ever had. In September 2020, I purchased a Nintendo Switch Lite through a 3rd party seller. I used PayPal Credit as the method of payment since it was the preferred payment method by the seller and I would be covered under their consumer protection policy. The confirmation email and contact info of the seller seemed shady so I contacted PayPal right away to cancel the order. They were unresponsive. Well, several weeks later I received a cell phone case from China, NOT a Nintendo device. I called customer service where the agent had told me the caller just before me had the exact same problem happen.
I tried to file a fraud complaint but that didn't go anywhere. My mistake; filed my complaint under the wrong umbrella. After properly opening a dispute on the charge, that's when communication broke down. I can't open secure messages from their site, the phone line is unresponsive (unless to collect payment), the fax number doesn't work, and there's no easy way to reach the department handling my dispute. Several times they tried to increase the amount owed although I wasn't due for my minimum yet. I can't open survey links sent to voice my concerns. I have no idea what the resolution of my dispute(s) was. When I chat with an agent about difficulty opening their correspondences, I'm met with "try again in an hour or two." I'm certain I won't get any reply except another call telling me I'm due for payment without any explanation to my case. This has been ongoing for over 6-months.
I will never use their service again and have no reservations about referring others to avoid all things PayPal Credit/Synchrony.

Rewards program
We use our credit card regularly and accumulate rewards points. The way the Sam's Club Business Mastercard works is that every March, all rewards point accrued over the past 12 months are redeemable either by cash or a credit towards a Sam's Club Purchase. In 2020, they stopped mailing out checks that were able to be cashed at Sam's Club and simply put the rewards on the account. You still need to go to Sam's Club to either get the cash rewards or use the credit towards a purchase.
Due to the pandemic, I have not been going to bricks and mortar stores and have opted to order online.
I called customer service to determine the amount of rewards available and much to my dismay, they advised that because I did not redeem the rewards I lost them as they expired in December 2020. I advised them of my reason for not visiting a bricks and mortar Sam's club and also advised them that I receive no notification that my rewards would expire.
I asked for an exception but they declined saying there was nothing they or anyone can do. Over $600 in rewards out the window.
Desired outcome: My desired outcome is to have the rewards reinstated on my account as I am now vaccinated and feel more comfortable going out in public.
Unauthorized credit lines open
I have been a Synchrony bank Gap card holder for 10 years
I went to use my card when out one day and I was told it didn't work, I checked my account when I got home to find out it had been closed. Confused since I have never missed or been late on a payment. I called synchrony bank and they told me they closed my card due to insufficient funds which again i do not understand since I have never been late and typically pay in full I decided to check my credit report and see if anything was on there.
Sure enough there was a collection agency that had a credit line debt of $7, 969
Knowing that since 2018 I have had alerts on my credit to call my phone number and my phone number only if credit was to try and be opened. I called and disputed this charge. They informed me that this account was opened in 2019 to a name not on my credit and to an address that has never been associated to my name and in a state my credit has never been associated with. This line of credit was opened through Synchrony bank on a Care Card that was used for Dental work.
I can go through the leg work of having this removed but that frustrating part is that Synchrony bank opened a bad line of credit on my social security with no correct information matching my credit report (name, addres, ect)
I was told by Synchrony bank that no humans do applications and that they are all issued through a virtual system. A system that apparently flags applications if there is more then one information field wrong. There was in my case but I was never notified. They told me that they notify the address that the applicate gives them, which as you can see is a problem because this address is fake and part of the fraud.
My address is in their system with my Gap Visa and on my credit report but yet they never sent a letter to the social security holding mailing address.
Synchrony bank does not protect its customers or any individuals from credit fraud and they don't care about closing down perfectly good lines of credit people work hard to establish based on their faulty systems and ability to open credit with no matching information.
