I am an elderly single woman. I had 3 credit cards with Synchrony as the bank behind them. Care Credit so I could take my elderly dog and 2 cats to the vet. I had a Credit Card from a local auto repair shop to help if my 2007 Nissan Versa broke down. Both cards were only used once and fully paid off with no missed payments. I was not contacted in advance via phone, email or text. Yesterday, my Lowe’s card was cancelled which has a balance, but never a missed payment and I always paid more than the minimum. Here I am nearly 70, my car broke down and I can’t afford to have it fixed so no transportation. My old dog was sick and suffering and not only could I not take him to the vets because I have no car, but also because Synchrony cancelled the Care Credit card with the zero balance. He died last month. Now, if something happens to my appliances, or my roof or flooring, I will it be unable to replace them with Lowe’s. Synchrony has put me in a horrible position with no way out. Now, thanks to Synchrony and their heinous way they treat their customers, I am constantly anxious. Not one phone call to warn me. I could understand if I missed payments but I have not. Don’t get old, no one will help you. What a screwed up world we have now.
Claimed loss: Peace of mind in my old age.
Desired outcome: I only want to warn others not to use Synchrony backed credit cards.
This is the way Synchrony does business. They have a reputation of being third rate but I would not give them that much credit. I cancelled all cards backed by synchrony and gave the $400 a month interest to reputable companies.
