I wish to cancel my unused membership and obtain a refund. Travel Resorts of America, will not work with me in any way to resolve the issue. Travel Resorts of America (TRA) has flat out refused to release me from my membership contract even though I have NEVER used it. TRA is unjustly enriched by insisting that I pay for services I have not used and cannot use. Since the refusal is unreasonable and made in bad faith, I feel I am entitled to reimbursement of the $ 3,028.68 paid and for the contract to be canceled without penalty. I signed up for the premier membership 01/17, at a cost of $14,995 plus fees. Financing the down payment of $2300 via Good Sams Club and the remainder through the in house TRA financing. I have paid off the $2300 for the down payment and to date I have paid $728.68 of the balance to TRA with another automatic draft for $182.17 coming out of my account on June 21. I have made all payments on time even though I have NEVER used the facility nor any of the services promised under the membership. I do not camp, I do not own an RV nor do I camp in a tent, and I told *** and *** this after my tour of Sycamore Lodge. So the camping portion was not for me, but I was sold on the other "perks" that came with the membership. I was lead to believe that I would save a lot of money on hotel stays and vacations through the Good Sams Club that was part of the membership. I was told that my family could also use these services in addition to the camp ground services under my membership. Part of the sales presentation was a demonstration of how the booking process works through the website and how to access discounts on the My Deals app on a phone. I was told at the presentation that if I wanted to make any travel arrangements within the first month, that I needed to go through ***. What they did not tell me is that I could not access the website to compare pricing until my membership packet came in the mail. I found that out after the fact. I received my member packet 2 weeks after I signed up and I registered on the various websites in hopes of finding savings on a business trip in Sept and a family vacation in the summer. It would not give me full access because it was still within the first 30 days. I reached out to *** on January 31, for help with booking a trip to NY in September and she said she would look into it, but she never got me any information on it. Once the 30 days were up (it's now the end of February), I logged on and while comparing prices between what I could get through my membership and other websites not under my membership, there was no difference at all. In fact in some cases, it cost more to book it under the membership website than to use a website open to anyone. Of course I was not pleased about this, but I thought, I'd give it a try and see if this was all it was made out to be. I was researching for my NY trip coming up in September when the COVID-19 pandemic began and so I decided to postpone making any travel arrangements. As the days, weeks, and months, went by, I decided, I should just cancel the membership which I had never used and at that point had no idea if I would ever be able to use it. I sent a cancelation letter to TRA on April 17th and got a call from *** on the 23rd saying I could not cancel my membership until the balance was paid in full. I asked if there was anything else I could do other than paying $15,000 just to cancel a membership that I have not used and I was told no. At this point I was determined to read through every line of every page of the documents they gave me. I reached out to *** hoping I could handle this at the local resort level. She could not help me but reached out to *** who told her he could not help me and to refer me back to member services because they could help me. The local number *** gave me did not work, I called the 800 number she gave me and spoke with *** again and I asked if there was any way to change my membership if they would not cancel it and she told me no.
