Get a Public Adjuster and, likely, an attorney
The absolute worst. I first thought they were incompetent. I now know they are very precise in purposely delaying execution, acting like they didn't get correspondence, and lying. If you have a claim - you must get a Public Adjuster to help you and, likely, an attorney. You will have to fight for every dollar you should get. Plus expect it to take months and months to process.
Recommendation: Buy your insurance somewhere else!
Faild to ensure reported damage and I am now paying for a new roof
Faild to ensure reported damage and I am now paying for a new roof. Once my roof is complete I intend to seek a diffrent insurance company.
Our insurance was with another company that sold to this company and the premium doubled
Our insurance was with another company that sold to this company and the premium doubled. TypTap somehow got approval from the SC Insurance board to directly bill the mortgage company the amount they chose. To me, that sounds like fraud. I am working with them to get this canceled.
I gotta say, TypTap Insurance Company ain't exactly top-notch
I gotta say, TypTap Insurance Company ain't exactly top-notch. Their customer service and follow-up game? Terrible. I had a claim back in August , and guess what? It took 'em until February 2022 to finally give me a response. Can you believe that? I had to make so many dang calls and even had to get a 3rd Party involved just to get some help with my claim. I was so fed up that I even filed a complaint with the State of Florida. Trust me, folks, steer clear of this company. They ain't worth it.
I canceled my insurance for my home
I canceled my insurance for my home. The insurance pictures were taken before my new roof was put on. I showed the inspector my roofing contract and thought there were no problems. After 2 weeks, they canceled me. I talked to the company and even though I insured them that all remodeling work was done, they would not reinstate my policy. What a waste of time and money. Now I have a lapse and it's tough to find affordable homeowners insurance.
We was UPC customers but then we got switched to TypTap without us knowing
We was UPC customers but then we got switched to TypTap without us knowing. Our premium went up three times. Our mortgage company sent the money to TypTap in May 2022. We canceled the TypTap policy on May 24, 2022 before it started. But we still ain't got our refund for the premium our mortgage company paid, and it's already the end of June 2022. I done contacted TypTap many times, but they keep saying it's in process. So far, I ain't got no proof that they actually doing what they say. They promised to send updates by email, but that ain't happened. It seems like they holding onto the money that should be given back and ain't providing any proof of what they doing.
This company ain't about the people, man
This company ain't about the people, man. We had a problem with our AC trip switch, which made it leak into our ceiling. So, we had to file a claim for the damage to the drywall. Can you believe it? Four months later, they hit us with an email saying they won't renew our policy 'cause we're a "risk management" case. I'm furious, man. How else am I supposed to use homeowners insurance if they're gonna punish me for using it as intended?! And when I called for an explanation, all they said was that "upper management" reviews claims each year and decides which ones are risky. Are you kidding me? They just spin a wheel and pick a policy? That's a load of crap! I'm doing what I'm supposed to with this insurance, and I'm the one who gets screwed over in the end. This is the worst company ever, man!
If I could give zero stars for this company, I would
If I could give zero stars for this company, I would. I bought insurance for this "company" in May for my new house in Viera, Fl. In July an "inspector" came out and did a whole house inspection and found out that there was moisture and stains on the air handler. News flash...an AC is gonna have some condensation on it when the unit is in the garage that is about 95 degrees. I had a repairman come and do a system check and told me everything is fine with the unit. The AC tech is the one who told me that condensation is normal in garage-kept units. The stains were easily cleaned up. In my opinion, Typ Tap told the inspector to find something wrong so they could drop me since my house is a bit older (built in 1992). I received a cancellation letter in early August. The reason given on the letter was "Ineligible Risk." Pretty vague. I was told that if the AC was repaired they would review my case and POSSIBLY re-instate my policy. So I had to fix something that wasn't broken and they would possibly re-instate my policy. Since the cancellation was effective August 30, I was pretty much at their mercy. If they decided not to re-instate my policy, I'm without homeowner's insurance during hurricane season. Fortunately, I was able to find a much more reputable company (thank you ***). So to Typ Tap...goodbye and good riddance!

We called like 4 times since 9/28 and they said we'd get an adjuster in like 48 hours
We called like 4 times since 9/28 and they said we'd get an adjuster in like 48 hours. But it's 10/16 now and we still haven't heard from anyone.
The company won't give me my money back even though I canceled my policy
The company won't give me my money back even though I canceled my policy. I gave them everything they wanted, but still no refund. My policy number is XX-XXXXXXX-XX and I canceled it on 1/6. The policy was active from 3/1 to 3/2 and I paid $424.56.
I had a claim with TypTap 'cause I found black mold in my kid's closet
I had a claim with TypTap 'cause I found black mold in my kid's closet. The inspector was quick to set up an appointment and come check out the damage. But since then, it's been dead silence from this company. It's already August 1st. I've sent emails a bunch of times, I call every day and wait on hold for a whole hour before I give up. My son has to sleep in a room with black mold and I'm just hoping it won't mess with his health. All I want is for someone to get back to me and tell me what to do next. It's like nobody even works there.

I filed an insurance claim with TypTap Insurance Company on September 28, 2022, after Hurricane Ian
I filed an insurance claim with TypTap Insurance Company on September 28, 2022, after Hurricane Ian. An adjuster came out about 10 days later, and then his supervisor came out on October 12. To delay the payout on our claim, they sent another adjuster out on October 25, claiming that their computers crashed and they lost all the information. I called TypTap to find out that this wasn't true, but they won't give me a reason why they sent a third adjuster out. The supervisors won't return my call, and they keep delaying my payout for weeks. I'm going to call every agency I can to get help because I really need my house repaired. They seriously need to stop with these delay tactics!
I filed a claim on 8/12/2022 'cause my ceiling just fell down outta nowhere
I filed a claim on 8/12/2022 'cause my ceiling just fell down outta nowhere. The insurance folks were pretty fast at first, sendin' a crew to cover up the roof and put in them humidifier thingies. They even sent some guy to check out the damage, but he barely stayed for a hot minute before takin' off. Since then, it's been all quiet from the insurance company. 'Cause our house is old, the restoration folks are worried 'bout asbestos bein' around, and we're stuck waitin' for someone to come test for it. In the meantime, we might be breathin' in asbestos stuff. We've been tryin' to get in touch with our adjuster, leavin' messages and all, but no one's callin' us back. All we want is some answers and a fix, and we want it sooner rather than later.
I had UPC insurance and got switched to TypTap at the start of this year
I had UPC insurance and got switched to TypTap at the start of this year. On November 16th, I called my agent and told her I didn't need this insurance anymore. They sent the cancellation, but TypTap didn't respond. Since January 5th, I've been calling Tytap to get an update. I filed another cancellation on January 5th to cancel the policy. I've been calling every few days, and they keep saying they have everything they need from me. They're backed up with claims and don't know why it's taking so long. On January 20th, I called and demanded answers about my refund, but a manager was supposed to call me and never did. I think they don't plan on giving back the $1362.00 that my mortgage company paid. The agent I worked with isn't getting any responses either. I need help to finally get the $1362 that I'm owed.
CLAIM #: XX-XXXX-XXX-XX I filed a water damage claim in May and there ain't been no resolution
CLAIM #: XX-XXXX-XXX-XX I filed a water damage claim in May and there ain't been no resolution. The only offer I got was in June and it was way too low 'cause the insurance adjustor messed up the kitchen measurements. The offer wouldn't even come close to fixin' my kitchen like it was before, like the policy says. I'm 72 years old and I've been livin' without runnin' water in the kitchen and no laundry facilities this whole time. My kitchen is completely torn apart. I can't cook or clean and I gotta wash dishes in the bathroom sink. And now rats are comin' in through holes in the walls, makin' this already unhealthy and unsanitary situation even worse. TypTap finally sent some other guy to check out the damages 'bout 4 weeks ago. But they ain't been respondin' to my emails or phone calls. This company ain't even tryin' to settle my claim fairly and in a reasonable amount of time.
I bought my home in January and my mortgage company secured HO insurance for me with TypTap Insurance Co
I bought my home in January and my mortgage company secured HO insurance for me with TypTap Insurance Co. The closing date got delayed, so the mortgage company paid for the insurance at the beginning of January, but the closing happened on January 31st. For the next two years, the insurance renewed weeks early, and they never refunded the premium that I paid a month early each year. I reported this and requested a renewal change, but I received zero response!
I had completely renovated my home until August 11, when a plumbing issue with the tub caused massive water damage. It ruined everything that was new, including the wood floor, walls, mold, paint, baseboards, and bathroom. Then a mold remediation company had to gut it all again. I hired a public adjuster and submitted a fair claim in August . As of February '21, they have only paid $14k out of $148k! After begging for seven months, they finally paid, but they only covered half of the claim. My home has been torn apart and demolished for over eight months now. Electrical wires are exposed, walls are open to the studs, there's only one working bathroom in the house, no closets, and it's not habitable. TypTap refuses to pay a fair amount to fix it, and their offer to repair it is nowhere close to the bid from the insurance company. It's insulting how they do anything to avoid paying or to delay paying a fair claim. It's inhumane!
TypTap insurance sent me an email with the new insurance rate
TypTap insurance sent me an email with the new insurance rate. I called the office many times and advised them that I am not continuing with their policy due to the high rate. They never provided any information on how to cancel the insurance, even after I made 3 phone calls and sent an email to the office notifying them that I am not continuing with them.
While talking to the new insurance company that is taking over the coverage for my home, they informed me that TypTap had sent the renewal to my bank and had already been paid.
I called the TypTap office and they advised me to send a cancellation notice. They also mentioned that the whole process could take up to 15 days for me to receive the refund.
I asked for my entire refund, which amounts to $3144.00, since the old insurance ends on 11/18/2022. However, the customer service representative was unsure if I would receive the full amount.
This TypTap office seems to be taking people's money and taking their sweet time to process refunds.
TypTap insurance was supposed to insure my home for the whole year of 2022 and beyond
TypTap insurance was supposed to insure my home for the whole year of 2022 and beyond. But on November 1, they suddenly backed out of the agreement without giving any reason for not renewing or continuing the policy. I called and spoke with several managers on October 15, including Stephanie and Amale, who initially refused to provide me with their names. They kept transferring me from one department to another, and I had to take time off work just to talk to Stephanie. However, she hung up on me when I asked for more information and requested her to stop interrupting me. Now, I'm waiting for a call from Tim Cook on Monday, October 17th, to discuss in detail why the policy can't remain as it is. This company's main purpose is to insure properties and homes in Florida for the agreed-upon duration. Sadly, they have failed to fulfill their duty and operate as an honest and reputable business by abruptly terminating my policy without a valid explanation. In my opinion, they should not be allowed to continue providing insurance in the future.
This company is just awful
This company is just awful. I had to make a claim, and I had all the proof I needed with photos and an inspection report that I paid for. But when they sent an inspector, they didn't even bother looking at the damage because they weren't comfortable there. They used that as an excuse to deny my claim, and then they completely ignored me. I had to call them like a million times a day for days just to get someone on the phone. They would promise to call me back, but then I wouldn't hear anything for months. I kept repeating this cycle, and it was so frustrating. Finally, I had enough and demanded answers. The agent I spoke to was so rude and tried to lie about not being in contact with me. It felt like they were purposely dragging it out so that I would have to keep their insurance into the new year. Their service is just terrible, and I'm definitely going to complain to the state board. Dealing with this company is a nightmare, and they treat their customers so poorly. This is my first time making a home insurance claim, and it seems like they'll do anything to avoid paying out. I even asked for a second inspector to prove my point, but they flat out refused.
Damage caused to home during mitigation that homeowners insurance offered
Damage caused to home during mitigation that homeowners insurance offered. I filed a homeowners claim with TypTap regarding a leak in my roof. They offered mitigation and that same day, FP restorations came to my home and placed a tarp on my roof to prevent further leaking since it was raining in my area every day. When FP restorations was here, they advised there was moisture detected in the walls of 2 of my restrooms. They advised, with the approval of the homeowners insurance, they would place dehumidifiers in the restrooms to avoid any mold. They removed 3 baseboards in total, breaking 1 of them. TypTap ultimately denied the claim. I have spoken with the restoration company since TypTap is so difficult to get a hold of, and they advised they would not be returning to place back the baseboards or replace the broken baseboards. These baseboards were in perfect condition prior to the mitigation, more damage was caused to my house due to this mitigation. TypTap should pay for the baseboards to be replaced. They are my homeowners insurance, and I should not be left with damage caused by mitigation they offered.
I filed a claim for damage from Hurricane Ian, claim number was assigned
I filed a claim for damage from Hurricane Ian and received a claim number. An inspector visited my home, recommending a new roof and pool cage screening. However, Ty Tap's response halted. They informed me Octavius L was handling my claim. Despite daily calls and messages, he never responded. On 11-2-22, the main operator intervened, prompting Octavius to confirm approval for repairs, promising an estimate within a week. Later, contacting him proved futile as his number was disconnected. The main Ty Tap line redirected me to a lady named D. A, who informed me my claim was reassigned to her and was pending in a pile. She was non-committal about the claim status or timelines. Meanwhile, roofers' schedules are full, and as weeks pass since Ian, I remain without updates, unlike others who have progressed with their repairs.
On September 29th, 2022, there was this big ol' hurricane called Ian that caused a whole lotta floodin' in our home
On September 29th, 2022, there was this big ol' hurricane called Ian that caused a whole lotta floodin' in our home. Luckily, we had TypTap flood insurance, so we gave 'em a holler on September 30th, 2022 to let 'em know what was goin' on. We had about 6 inches of water and even some nasty raw sewage in our house. Finally, after waitin' a while, they sent out a field adjuster to get the ball rollin' on our claim. Now, let me tell ya, this adjuster didn't act too professional. He was crackin' jokes about mold growin' up the baseboards and raw sewage all over the place, sayin' our home was still livable. And get this, his teenage son was snappin' pictures of our house while the adjuster was chattin' away about his own personal stuff. He was in and out in a flash, didn't even let us walk around and show him the damages or our appliances that needed documentin'. I dunno if it's 'cause we're a couple of gay dudes with a black foster child or 'cause we look too young, but he was mighty unprofessional. According to one of them TypTap folks, these field adjusters got 10 days to send in their report. Well, it's been over 20 days and still no report from 'em. We done spent over 30 grand already, and our insurance company won't even talk to us about our coverage. Finally, on Friday, October 21st, the adjuster finally sent in their report, and now the insurance company wants 7 to 10 business days to review it. They won't assign nobody to help us, won't talk to us 'bout nothin'. They just keep stringin' us along. They keep sayin' it's our job to prevent more damage, but they won't tell us how to move forward. We're in desperate need of some help here!
Worst company, terrible customer service, thieves, I hope they go under
