I suspect something that looks like a kind of Online Scam... I received mails indicating that i am a winner in an online lottery held sometime in September. I would sincerely appreciate if it is duly treated. I also anticipate being mailed proceeds from investigations. Thanks ahead. Below is a paste of the mails:

Dear Mr Walter,
Good morning today. Using the opportunity to wish you a beautiful day too.
I have an issue that causes me to bother and that is in relation to a mail i received this morning with a UK National Lottery Winner header. It also states an amount credited to a file detail with a set of alphanumerical that resembles an account number value.

I sincerely would be very grateful if i can be well detailed as regards this as the mail requests me to mail you being the Claims Agent.

Till i read from you, do have a splendid week.

Respectfully,
Osibeluwo John-Praise O.

ATTN: Osibeluwo John-Praise O,

I want to inform you that your verification details have been received and have been processed. I must say that you should count yourself extremely lucky to have emerged as one of our lucky winners in the UK National Lottery Online Sweepstakes International Program.

As you already know, all participants for the online version were selected randomly from the World Wide Web through a computer draw system and extracted from over 1,000,000 unions, associations and corporate bodies that are listed online and each email address was attatched to a ticket number. Your email address attatched to Serial number 5368/02 was selected which automatically makes you one of our lucky winners.

Your funds have been approved for release and we will begin the process of remittance of your prize money to you immediately. I have contacted the UK National Lottery Advisory Board and The Internal Revenue Board on this matter and we have decided to send your winning parcel which contains your certified bank cheque, original copies of your winning certificate, consolation prizes which include a Dell Inspiron 6400 Laptop, a UK Lottery Branded T-shirt, a UK Lottery Branded Baseball cap and security Documents via a secured and efficient courier service.

We have also contacted our affiliate Courier Company International Courier Systems{ICS} and have directed them to pick up your winning parcel from the National Head Quaters.

Do note, that sequel to UK Lottery Acts 249(n) of 1972 ammended in July, 1996 to ensure the actual winning prize get to Winners, the Courier charges cannot be deducted from your winning claims because your winning claim is bonded by a hard cover insurance policy that gives only the winner access to the prize money.

Hence you will be responsible for all costs incurred in mailing your winning parcel to you.

Please forward your Name and Ticket number to The Client Services Manager, International Courier Systems{ICS}and he will get to you as soon as your winning parcel is ready for delivery.

For security reasons, you are advised to keep your winning information confidential till your claim is processed and your money remitted to you in whatever manner you deem fit to claim your prize. I also received this kind of scan on Tuesday with the same courier service that I won one million British pound and a BMW car. There has been contact since and now I was told told to pay certain fee for delivery of my prize.
Please I will like to know if such promotion exist (i.e BMWpromotion) and the authentication of ICS as a courier service in u.k.

Dear Nisew and all recipients of these emails,

I received the exact same email as Nisew did for the same draw date, number and amount, I have worked for a bank for 9yrs and have seen this a type of SCAM a number of times and seen many of my clients lose money to these people. In humoring the emails I also responded (But did not send any money) and noticed a number of inconsistencies in the emails, email addresses and spelling mistakes. A national company such as the UK National lottery first of all would not have spelling mistakes nor would they correspond by hotmail, yahoo, or any other public emails, Many major corporations have internal email address. Also a lottery corporation no matter what country you are in would not request you release private information via email nor would they request that you send them money in order to secure your prize winnings. As much as it pains me to see good hard working people lose money, time and in some case sleep to scam artists such as the ones that have sent out these emails, It is very difficult and almost impossible for any government office in any country to investigate and or catch these scammers, as you can see from above these emails are sent out in the hundreds of thousands all over the world, many people who respond and send money to these people are too embaraased to tell their families, never mind their local authorities. Unfortunately there isn't enough time in the day or week for authorities to investigate every single email sent out. Although I cannot say 100% that this is a SCAM, I can say that given my experience this is truly does appear to be a SCAM and I would encourage all who receive this email to delete it or be extremely cautious and for your own sake please do not send them any money.

I have received an E-mail telling me I have won £753, 437.00 in cash from the Lottery Online Draw on 21st June 2008. I had to get in touch with TNT Courier Service by e-mail "deliveryservice@tntcourieronline.com" to Mr. Richard Frost, Administative Officer. The message came from Mr. Lewis Jnr, Claims Department The UKNL Foundation, e-mail "ukclaims339@live.com". I was unable to send my e-mail at the time, I am new to all this technology. So I contacted TNT themselves and they very kindly sent me an e-mail saying they knew nothing about this win and advised me to take all this information to the police. This I am going to do tomorrow. I am appalled that these people have been allowed to continue this scam for so long without something being done about it. Regards Lynda Lea
