As a individual with no insurance due to full time schooling and decreased employment oppertunities from the market I was forced to enter the ER in November 2008. I was diagnosed with pneumonia but under went many extensive proceedures to verify pneumonia. The hospital was fully aware I was uninsured but billed me to the fullest extent. Unable to pay for the $9000 bill and unwilling to negotiate I am put into collections where UMC STILL refuses to negotiate. This is how you treat tax paying Americans? I am disgusted, In debt and just extremly dissapointed.

I myself was brought to umc emergency room I have insurance. they were paid. Five months later I get another bill similiar but not paid by my insurance . They are billing me twice. Upon submitting certified letters they have come back to me with mailbox full . Now they are saying I checked out and came back- not true. They checked me out in the paperwork in a 18 hour period and back in once they realized the doctor wantted another test. Never corrected the paperwork, now I have an 1800 bill that is a duplicate, they refuse to bill my insurance and refuse to correct their mistake . I will be letting a judge decide this one .

I went to 2 Las Vegas hospitals (ER) a few months ago. After spending 3 hours in the waiting room at Sunrise Medical Ctr., they took my vitals, said I had symptoms of an aortic aneurysm, sent me back out to the waiting room for nearly an hour and then finally took me to the back. Once in the back, they refused to put me in a bed (they said there was no room even though they had empty gurnies in the hall and patients sitting up in beds with no physical signs of distress; laughing and conversing with people who brought them there), drew blood and said they would be back in an hour. Four hours later I asked a group of nurses if my blood work was back and one told me she was busy and I "just need to take a seat." Two more hours went by and no one would even acknowledge I was there. Not once did anyone come by to take my vitals or check to see if my blood work was back either (I asked 3 times in the last 2 hours that I waited in a chair). I was still having right side pain and a fluttering coming from just under my ribs so I left and went to another hospital. Upon my arrival at the second hospital, I told them my situation and was taken back in the ER immediately. I was put in a bed, no doctor palpated me, no blood was drawn and within an hour they sent me for a CT scan. After the scan I was given a shot of hydrocodone and laid in bed for 3 hours. I was in that hospital for less than 4 hours, had no blood work, no diagnosis; just a CT scan and pk injection and they charged me $12, 000! About 2 weeks later I received the bill from Sunrise and they charged me $1300 for initial vitals and blood work that I never got results for! In those 6 hours at Sunrise, I was not seen by one doctor or nurse and subsequent vitals were refused when I asked for them (I was a nursing student and know that's mandatory for that kind of pre-diagnosis). I don't even know where to begin when it comes to settling these two bills! I am being charged nearly $14000 between the two of them and no major procedures were done. Ten years ago I was admitted and kept for 3 days for a kidney infection and my bill was less than $3000, I know costs haven't risen that much. Please help, I don't even know where to start.

Came there for a chest problem, end up being charged 10, 000 for housing, when I did not spend the night in there, UMC is a fraud. be aware of what they are doing before going in there.

The most unorganized/unsanitary hospital I have ever seen. Had surgery, nurse called pharmacy in hosp to get script filled and it took 4 hours to fill 1prescription, I thought that the nurse calling it in and, having, it sent to recovery would get it quicker, but I was obviousley mistaken. Nothing at all is done quickly at ANY UMC center.

This complaint does not concern the actual care in the hospital but the security guard and information people at the entrance to your hospital., My husband was admitted overnight for observation at Valley hospital which is down the street from this hospital. It was evening when we went and midnight when I took a cab back to the Encore. I went to pick him up the next day at approx 12:30 pm on Wednesday February 27th 2013.. I mistakenly went to this hospital the next afternoon. This is what I encountered as I walked through the front door. Young black girl walking by the information/security desk located to the left. Both men, a shorter, older man with black rimmed glasses and salt and pepper hair and the hispanic secutity man, on the plump side with shaved head called out sexual comments at the girl (Puss Puss I would like some of that etc. you get the drift. ) I just wanted to get my husband home so I went to the desk and asked the men where room 3019 was, they both asked me for $5.00. I ignored these comments and repeated myself. They repeated the request for money, I repeated my request. The security guard said no such room in the hospital, I requested that he look up my husbands name since I may have the wrong room number. He plopped into his chair and I had to spell Dombek 13 times to the man until he finally asked if I were in the right hospital. I said isnt this Valley and he said no it is down the block. I then asked him which way I should turn out of the parking lot, the two men exchanged looks and told me to turn right. As I was walking away the information attendant yelled out "AND DON'T COME BACK" !
I got in my car and turned left not right and Valley was right down the block.
First impressions are lasting. I would hope that perhaps someone in the human resource department would take a closer look at who they have respresenting their hospital.

I have recently observed two patients physically and verbally abused by UMC Security in the ER area..that place is what nightmares are made of...an example of many other things I have observed in Las Vegas in the last two years.
