Comfort Keepers - San Jose lacks communicating
I was using Comfort Keepers (San Jose office) to assist with watching my father-in-law during the days I had to go out for work and meet with clients. The Comfort Keeper caregiver did not show up at 7:30 am as scheduled, and no one has contact me from Comfort Keepers staff to let me know. I tried to call and email at 7:45 am to find out was is going on, but it took almost two hours (9:17 am) until I was able to get a hold of the General Manager, Renne. I had to find someone else who could watch my father-in-law. Once I was able to finally get in contact with Renne, she did not express concerns, but just state "would you like me to find someone else" this was after I was already on the road driving one hours out of the way to take my father-in-law to a family member. I had requested in the past for someone to contact me if the caregiver was going to be late or not show up, communication should not be difficult request.
Renne's lack of care on how this effects peoples lives and the real life repercussions as I was an hour and a half late to my meeting with my client. This was a great embarrassment and has effected my reputation. I have canceled our services after my conversation Renne as she was unable to resolve the issue, instead she escalated the issue. A simple call or text early in the morning was all I had requested so I could know if I need to make alternative plans.
Desired outcome: Better service for other families
Ended their service
I am very upset with the Comfort Keepers Supervisor. They are required by law to report Vulnerable Adult Abuse and failed to do so. Months of complaints sent by my Caretaker to her Supervisor and not once did this Supervisor meet with me about this or report it to the Adult Protection Agency because I ended up having to report it. This Supervisor did not care.
Desired outcome: Accountability
Hipaa violations

home care
I hired Comfort Keepers on or about December 16, 2021to care for my hospice wife. They were unable to provide medically trained staff to properly care for my wife's hygiene such as shifting her in bed, properly cleaning her until after 10 days of service when a properly trained person finally arrived. The company was unable to provide sufficient staff to even comfort to my wife. After she passed on 12/27 the company billed me $4K for services supposedly scheduled for anticipated support after she passed. The billing statement failed to identify the individuals scheduled who were denied work due to my wife passing. I consider the two week look ahead as a rip off because the company struggled to provide minimum help and all but one of the attendants provided demonstrated training my bed ridden wife needed. Every employee sent to the home had a large empathetic heart and performed a degree of comfort, but the quality of trained care was minimum except in a single case the night she died. Care was initiated on or about December 16, 2021 and the last person was with my wife on December 27. My primary complaint is about the two week lookahead payment when, in fact, the company struggled to provide needed quality medically trained support. The lookahead appears to be intended to keep active workers engaged after a death. I believe, in my case, there were very few workers negatively affected by my wife's death. The lookahead fee charged to me is excessive and considered gouging of a grieving family.
Desired outcome: Reduce the final billing
Bad service and deposit not refunded
I hired Comfort Keepers to help my mother, Carolyn Willis, 3 days a week. There were several instances when employees did not show up and one instance where they sent an OFFICE WORKER to take someone's place. I have emailed the young lady who came to my home and signed us up at least 7 times and she has not responded to me. I am not even sure she still works there. Mr. Obed finally called me and when I asked about my deposit refund he said it had been mailed. When I contacted him again to ask where my deposit was all he replied was call PNC. Really? The Glen Burnie Maryland branch is out of control. No one knows what is going on and from what I can see Mr. Obed does nothing.
Desired outcome: I want my deposit back.
I would just like to speak with someone regarding a check
I didn't receive a check from the company that I worked for about 2 weeks because family issues came up and I had to leave but I was wondering I misplaced the check and finally found it try to take it to the bank but they won't cash it because they said I need another check is there anyway I could have that check reprinted... Please if someone can definitely get back to me at [protected] and also if I could discuss it hopefully coming back
Failed to keep assessment session.
It took 2 calls to organize the appointment for an in-home assessment. 1st call made on Tuesday was never returned so I made a 2nd call. On 2nd call an appointment was not available on Wednesday so we agreed to 3 pm Friday (today). Since I live 400 miles from my brother, I organized an RN to be at his home & FaceTime me for the assessment when your rep...

I am ashamed to say that I am an employee for comfort keepers. The office is only worried about the office and the office only. I had three episodes where I was put on the schedule w out being asked or even notified, I call and complain and I am screamed at and threatened that if I don't go to assigned job I would be fired and have to pay them 150.00 for what I don't have a clue. So I went to my patient. And this happened three times to me, having to pick my patient or my family. Final straw for me was on my way to work I witness a tragic accident where I was first on since and young man almost died. I had to call 911 but in there eyes I was to call them first. Can't sacrifice those precious moments of someone life to call them. My child call my patient and inform them of what had happened. After I was done w 911 call. With this company if you are late or don't show they will text and call you. Why didn't they call me on that note. Because it was the weekend and they don't give a heck about anyone. They didn't know where I was or if my patient was OK. Reminding we work in the medical field why would it even been giving a hard time in such a tragic moment in everyone life. Knowing my patient was ok and not short on medication briefs wipes whatever that would be a needed for the night and her husband was home and he helps out I made that decision to save a life. So compatible about there patients and employees where were they when I needed them as well as my patient. They never called my patient to find coverage or me to see where I was at. And I'm giving a hard time. I'm blown away by this agency.
Negligence/theft
This is the worst company I have ever seen disguise themselves as a "home health" agency in my life! All the "nurses" did while they where here was sit on the couch and eat, watch TV on their phone ( with ear buds in so they couldn't hear the client) smoke cigarette and throw them in the garden, went through everything they where told was off limits including medication that was not theit clients. There's a lortab script still missing and they said they're where completely unaware the client had congestive heart failure even though it was in their folder. One nurse actually left even though the client was yelling for help I had to call 911. I'm pretty sure they where rippi ng him off (the lawyer is looking into that) and they took him to the er without telling any of his emergency contacts and told him to sign some hospital papers which turned out to be power of attorney papers. All of that's not even the worst of it but again the lawyer Is taking care of that now. These people are crooks, most of them don't even have any experience with home health care all they want is money. I pray they get enough complaints or even law suits that they are shut down ASAP.
Housecleaner/caregiver

I am an 75 year old man and I am completely disabled. I am on Medicaid and was entitled to a caregiver to help with light housekeeping, cooking, and personal hygiene. Read full review of Comfort KeepersOverbilling
My father hired Comfort Keepers in Cumberland MD for my mother's care for over three years. I discovered in April of this year that he has been substantially overbilled.
Some services were never submitted to the insurance company for payment and some were billed to him for more time than the actual amount of hours that services were provided and my father has paid them. I have repeatedly been in contact with them to try and resolve this matter, but they do not seem to be too concerned by it. I am not only concerned for him, but other Seniors who are unaware of the billing discrepancies or are unable to figure it out.
Believe me, I have spent extensive time trying to make sense of it and finally discovered what has happened. I want others to be aware and if they are also due refunds, I would hope this will help them.
Tell the world they are frauds, let them sue you, then hire a lawyer and a C.P.A to prove your allegation
the Truth is a defense against libel .
Then, counter -sue, clean their clocks
theft and no shows
WWhere do I start with the numerous complaints with this company.. First they send a worker to my house who is under watch already with their company for theft, and she stole my pain meds. I have a police report and comfort keepers backs up their employees constantly. I had someone drive by and take pictures of a worker who said they were snowed in 1/2 hour she called in and when we showed the office, the worker is still working there. They call sometimes to let u know they can't cover your shift but most the time forget and then tell u to call the on call number when no one shows but the nurse will call u back and say she got no answer so you won't have coverage that night. why can't the nurse come over because she is more than qualified but she don't and tbey leave u hanging..I have them contracted 7 days a week 2 times a day and I have proof they only made it 7 times a week total.. They over bill and u can't get your money back. They have workers who r so incompitant they do not know how to start a washing machine. not only that but i have hooks to hang my towels on and the worker poked holes in my bath towel to hang it up... The bill as making a hot chocolate as making a meal, which only takes 2 minutes but they bill u 15 minutes which is equal to 7 dollars. I finally turned them into bismarck and when we all is said and done hopefully they will b shut down. There is tons of complaints but they strive on the fact the disable need them and won't complain.. If you have a person with any memory issues DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY, its worse for them disabled ppl.. They say they were there and they never show up.. I can't even score this COMPANY because they don't make a score low enough!
Comfort Keepers has substantially overbilled my father for my mother's care. They have billed the insurance company for one amount and charged him a higher amount. I have very little cooperation in trying to resolve this matter. Watch your bills closely. If this has happened to you, please contact me.
not returning deposit
On Dec. 12, 2012, I wrote an email to this adult care company that after 2-1/2 years of using their service I would no longer need the ladies who were attending my mother as she was going into assisted living. This is January24, 2013 and I have yet to receive the refund for the deposit I gave to this Comfort Keepers office when signing up. I have made four...
Read full review of Comfort Keepers and 1 commentInadequate care and unprofessionalism
I hired this company because I had a previous relationship for 7 years with Comfort Keepers in Long Beach to care for my father who has Alzheimer's. They sent a caregiver who they highly recommended for his care. I subsequently found out she had only worked for them for 2 weeks before sent to my Dad's home. After a few weeks another caregiver informed me of a severe bruise and cut on his hand when she came to relieve the CK employee. Their caregiver said she had "no idea" how his bruise and cut happened. A few weeks later she was ending her shift and I called and was informed everything was "fine". I went over and when I walked in found a shirt on the dining room table ripped into shreds. My Dad was badly bruised on both hands and arms, his back and his legs. In reading her notes she said he had bruised himself swinging his arms and hitting the wall, although several of his bruises has finger marks in them. In my conversation with them about this, they could see no wrongdoing on their caregiver's behalf, my Dad was just "difficult" and the caregiver was doing the best she could. My Dad had never suffered brusing in 7 years from any other caregiver. I let this caregiver go. About a week later social services contacted me to report that a complaint of neglect and abuse had been filed on the other caregivers in the home and me, which was made from Ellie, the owner of Comfort Keepers Costa Mesa. After an investigation, social services found no evidence of this from other caregivers or me, and are looking into the bruising they evidenced from CK employee's shift. The vindictiveness and unprofessionalism of this branch of Comfort Keepers is truly appalling.

Dear itssodebber,
Our top priority is always the safety and well-being of our clients. While I cannot discuss the private details of this case in a public forum I would be happy to speak to you directly. Please call my office at [protected].
The caregiver we assigned to care for your father is a licensed CNA with 20 years experience, and specific dementia care experience as both a caregiver and activities director. While she worked for us for only a short time, she passed a criminal background check, reference checks which only yielded positive feedback, and a full on-boarding and orientation session. All of the feedback we received from other clients regarding this caregiver has been extremely positive.
Again, my apologies for any distress this situation has caused you.
Sincerely,
Elly Smith, Owner

Boss is in denial of everything
The week ending 12/3/2011, Comfort Keepers scheduled me for 21 hours in a 28.5 hour time period which was a 2 day period. I advised them 1 week prior that I could not commit to those hours but was not contacted by anyone. On the day in question I was called from the office stating that if I did not work an additional 3 hours that night they would consider that my resignation! If I had worked that last shift I would have worked 24 hours in a 28.5 hour time period with no rest and many miles to drive to various senior homes. I tried to explain on the phone to the HR Specialist who, was very new at the job, but she was taking orders from Kelley who is rude, condensending, unprofessional employee who likes to talk without thinking. No one should ever have to work under these conditions. The boss is in denial about office staff.
Comfort Keepers has substantially overbilled my father for my mother's care. They have billed the insurance company for one amount and charged him a higher amount. I have very little cooperation in trying to resolve this matter. Watch your bills closely. If this has happened to you, please contact me.
The office staff is awful and rude except for one of them. I hate this company and I can't wait to find a new job elsewhere
Bullying By Office Staff
Comfort Keepers and constant work place bullying from Kelley all go together; falsely accusing me of errors I did not make, flaunting status and authority, condescending and demeaning attitude, derogatory remarks, insults, failing to return calls or emails. When I complained I was shut down by the owner Mark who did nothing. ALSO: unrealistic work schedule...

I am a previous care giver for this company and found that this company allows thier caregivers to perform medical assistance to clients that should only be done from a licensed medical assistant including wound care, distribution of medicines, taking home clients property. I have resigned from this company totally upset by the lack of care for the clients or there families. There is absolutely no training I have witnessed other care givers yelling at dementia patients, clipping nails by the State standards of IN no nail clipping is allowed to protect the clients when I questioned my supervisor she said she would check into and never returned my call. On the sheet caregivers are given for each client it is clearly stated. These people must never be trusted to provide care to your loved ones.

I work for comfort keepers currently and I don't know which one u work for but we r not permitted to cut nails only file them. We also are not allowed to dispense medication.I also had to go through training and had to take and pass an exam to be hired we r also not permitted to take home their property either if we r given a gift or something it cannot exceed 20$ and it has to be called into the office and has to be approved through the poa. So it sounds like u got w a office that has serious issues within the management. But I would like to assure people that all branches are not like that. That's why they are independently owned.
Please remember that each "Comfort Keepers" is independently owned and opporated...so, they ALL can not be held responsible for another owners/caregivers bad caregiving...instead, of blasting on the internet, you should call and let the corporate office know these concerns. The website is www.comfortkeepers.com
Thank you
Dangerous Home Care
I have been visiting a friend for 16 days... in that time, Comfort Keepers has pelaced his representative 3 times. My friend is 43, paralyzed and requires daily care for mundane household taks. One of my friend's biggest issues is alcoholism, and the last "care giver" not only bought and provided alcohol to my friend, but also consumed alcohol "on-site"...
