Greetings. I hope that all is well. My name is Willa Peters; I am a 72 year-old Female. I have been dealing with United Medicare Advisors (Luke Siler) for more than 4 years obtaining Medi-Gap Insurance. Luke reaches out to me annually to ensure I was getting the best rates; and making a switch when a better rate was available. Luke did not call me during Open Enrollment this year
I hit a snag this year, my Social Security checks stopped in September without any forewarning. It was the weekend and I had to move swiftly to cancel my ACE Policy to avoid the payment bouncing due to the lack of funds in my bank account. My only income is Social Security; My MCI Telecommunications Pension was lost/stolen when Worldcom purchased MCI. I tried reaching Luke via email and Telephone and never received any response.
Medicare Open Enrollment ended December 7th, 2024. I called United Medicare Advisor Friday, December 6th at 8:49 am at telephone number [protected]. A female answered the phone; I advised her that I needed to obtain another MediGap Policy. I explained that I had a policy that I had to cancel. I explained the above scenario and what occurred. She proceeded to ask questions regarding my health, which I answered. I was then advised that I was not eligible for a MediGap Plan because I had Cortisone shots in both knees in October 2024. She also advised that since I had Diabetic Retinopathy back in 2020, that makes me ineligible for a Medigap Policy . I was advised that none of the insurance companies that populated her screen would not issue a Medigap Policy to me; in addition, she doesn't know how I was able to obtain a policy/plan in the past. I advised her that the Underwiting Departments reviews my medical files and never had any issues issuing the policy.
I do not have Gap coverage for 2025 with Social Security earnings in the poverty level. This is a huge impact.
I found information advising that you cannot be denied a Medigap plan due to pre-existing conditions. I need to know if that is indeed true.
Thank you in advance for your response.
Most appreciatively,
Thank you
Willa Peters
