Refuse to fix roof/flashing leak Security First Policy#PXXXXXXXXX-Claim# XXXXXX
Refuse to fix roof/flashing leak Security First Policy#PXXXXXXXXX-Claim# XXXXXX. Per Calloway Roofing, it looks like the flashing/roof is leaking into back window frame which damaged the wood frame and drywall. Security First says it's due to "normal wear" and would cost less than the $1000 deductible. They also stated that I would have to pay a deductible for every claim submitted. The window and wood have been replaced but since the leak has not been addressed, every time it rains the window frame and drywall gets soaked. Who knows what other damage is happening behind the wall.

Examiner is unresponsive to request for a re-issue of a check for a settled claim. A claim was filed and settled in 2. The claim number is XXXXXX, the check number is XXXXXX, in the amount of $6,178.90, dated 2/24. Due circumstances I did not deposit the check, and tried to deposit it 11. The financial institution informed me I needed to have the check re-issued because it was too old. Then, it needed to be sent to the instruction's insurance division for a stamp, then send back to me for deposit. I tried reaching out to the Examiner, Trish C, several times with no response

Trying to get reimbursed for ordinance and law coverage for building code upgrades per Florida code laws
Trying to get reimbursed for ordinance and law coverage for building code upgrades per Florida code laws. Adjuster keeps asking for copies of building permits that say specially that OL upgrades were required, when they have proof that the home was damaged over 100% of the coverage for structure, requiring repairs to the he be bought up to current code I have sent pictures, invoices, copies of the laws with no luck. The adjuster says they need proof that the code upgrades were due to storm damage and not our personal choice for upgrades. We are talking about the insulation, electrical, hurricane straps, etc. We just want to be reimbursed for what we had to pay the contractor for the code upgrades that were not covered by the structure payment limits.

Had policy for four years and this year policy renewal/premium amount more than doubled
Had policy for four years and this year policy renewal/premium amount more than doubled. I have had this policy for four years and have paid my premiums on time and in full for all of those four years. In addition, I have never filed an insurance claim with the company. Recently, I received a letter stating that policy premiums would be contingent on credit score. My current policy set to go in effect November 18 shows a total premium amount of $2,575 for a house that was built in 1940. My previous total premium last year was $1,277. So my policy increase by $1298 more than doubling last years premium. That is just wrong. I have never missed a payment, never made a late payment, never filed a claim. Justify this please!? There is no justification for such a ridiculous increase in a property that isn't worth that much.

Policy Canceled after Insurance Agent No Longer "In Loop" I have been with Security First since we first purchased our home in March
Policy Canceled after Insurance Agent No Longer "In Loop" I have been with Security First since we first purchased our home in March. I randomly get a letter this year letting me know that they no longer do business with esurance or just the very specific agent of esurance who wrote my policy, I'm not sure which. I figured no problem, I only had that agent because that's who was given to me by my mortgage company to shop for rates. It can't change anything to do with my policy. So I call in just to make sure everything is fine, then I'm told my home insurance is being CANCELED. I will no longer have ANY insurance come March. I pay for my insurance through my mortgage company, so nothing has ever been paid late. None of our circumstances have changed- except we've fixed up the house, and it's likely LESS of a hazard. A completely unreasonable reason to cancel someone's policy. Then I'm told I'd have to apply as a new customer, even though I have an ACTIVE policy, and contract number. So fine, just reapply. Regardless of the substantial inconvenience. Then I'm told SORRY, we aren't writing policies in your area anymore to mitigate risk, so no new customers. BUT I AM NOT A NEW CUSTOMER. Left me completely high and dry, and are completely disrespectful and untrustworthy to loyal customers. I can't imagine if you had to file a claim with a company like this! I have three young kids and I've spent the past 2 months trying to find a similar company, but I'm told I could ''maybe' get government insurance because of my location, and would likely have to shell out hundreds of dollars in updated inspections. I shouldn't be penalized, because the insurance company chooses not to do business with a specific agent or company.

Insurance Claim Practices POLICY NUMBER # PXXXXXXXXX Apparently, my 1st mistake was not looking at their reviews & rating
Insurance Claim Practices POLICY NUMBER # PXXXXXXXXX Apparently, my 1st mistake was not looking at their reviews & rating. This is my first experience with homeowners Ins vs Mortgage placed Ins (and will be my last),Been 2 yrs, I am due for renewal this month, NOT HAPPENING ! I did the 4 pt Inspection, Wind mitigation, etc for them to insure me. They double the rates every year. Had to file a claim for leaks in 3 rooms due to ETA Storm (Live in St Petersburg, FL). DAN AULD asked me for copies of previous claims at other Ins companies sI asked why, he stated they wouldn't pay for same repairs twice. WTH? things cant be damaged twice? Adjuster JON P was here for about 10 minutes, on roof for about 3 minutes (went up looking terrified and taking several deep puffing breaths) took a few pics, told me the rain "blew in thru vents & splashed into my attic causing leaks" - NOTE: 2 of the rooms leaking have no attic... A Roofing Company Quoted damage... DEWAYNE K left me messages about someone elses claim info but my name & claim number...WTH? This is serious work & jobs, they appear very inexperienced, probably doesnt matter considering they are hired to be shysters & RIP OFF consumers. He also choose the category of the claim, which he chose WIND vs WATER (damage inside and apparently roof) Claim was denied by DEWANYE K based on the adjusters (JON P) finding and previous roof repairs, again WTH? I thought repairing was exactly what you are supposed to do! As far as I am concerned, they are another FLORIDA SCAM. I am filing a complaint with ComplaintsBoard.com, Insurance commissioner office, Mayors office, Federal Government Consumer Fraud, My mortgage Company and anyone else that will listen, and checking into legal actions. NEEDLESS TO SAY I DO NOT RECOMMEND AND WOULD GIVE ZERO STARS IF I COULD !

Over charged for years with misinformation regarding our home that was not our fault
Over charged for years with misinformation regarding our home that was not our fault. We have been lied to and scammed by this company. As of February our policy increased significantly when I called to speak to security first about it I was informed we have been being overcharged for years stating we are insuring our home with an attached garage when it is in fact detached. Our bill was reduced significantly based on this detail that I never made an error about. I always told accurate details about our home. I have been trying to work this out with this company for months and I have been manipulated, lied to and even yelled at. I was told by security first to contact *** about this and when I spoke with jasmine from *** she told me I was being manipulated and that security first needed to help me. She said the supervisor john had no reason to send me to her when he was in fact the one who could help me. I feel this is criminal. They lied and have falsely documented my calls for other reasons besides what I was actually calling about. No one will help me in this company and I am counting on the ComplaintsBoard.com to please help our small family get compensation for the hundreds of dollars they have scammed out of us. If not thousands. The supervisor John asked me when I had added an additional 100,000 of coverage to my home. I never did that. The reviews for this company all say scam, lied to, and the word criminal is in almost every review. So to recap, they over charged us unfairly based on false information not provided by us. We have done nothing wrong. We never even filed a claim. We have paid and paid and paid and been lied to and overcharged . Supervisors and managers are no help . Policy number *** . We have been with this company for 4 years. I feel like we have been totally scammed out of roughly 70$ a month (if not more) for years. Please help us.

This company sold my elderly parents a policy with a high deductible with no wind and water damage
This company sold my elderly parents a policy with a high deductible with no wind and water damage. I am writing on behalf of my elderly parents in their 80's about their homeowner's insurance company Security First. This company has sold them a policy that covers basically nothing and I believe this falls under the Elder Exploration statute under Florida law. They had damage to their roof months ago which resulted in a leak in the house and their ceiling collapsing. They paid over $5,000 out of their pocket to have their roof repaired and submitted claims to have their ceiling repaired. Their claims were all denied. My father has dementia and he did everything for them over the years so my mother doesn't have the ability to handle these types of things. I was concerned that they had been living for months in unsafe conditions with a collapsed ceiling. I asked why they hadn't filed a claim with their insurance company. They said they had but they didn't understand what was going on. I called Security First and spoke with Megan G the last week of January. My mother called the company and gave them permission to list me as a party who could discuss the account. They put in their system that I was authorized to discuss my parents account. On my initial call Ms. G was very sympathetic and upset about what had happened. She said that the agent sold my parents a policy that covers basically nothing and excluded wind and water damage. She said she wouldn't want this done to her parents and that she was going to go up the ladder and see what they could do to correct this situation. She also advised me when speaking to my parents that it was clear to her that they weren't at all clear what she was telling them and it was very apparent they were confused. She asked me to send her the receipt for the roof repair and estimates to repair the ceiling. A month went by and I heard nothing. I provided the receipt for the roof repair and three estimates for the ceiling repair. At that point I sent Ms. G an email for an update. Her response back was short and dismissive totally opposite from our initial call. She said she sent a request for a agent to call me. I advised her that no one has made an attempt in the past month to reach us and why would she have an agent call me when that is who sold the poor policy with little to no coverage in the first place. She ignored my email so I sent another one advising her that during our initial conversation she said the agent took advantage of my elderly parents by selling them a policy with a high deductible that excluded wind and water damage. I'm guessing she did as she said and discussed it with executives in the company and they told her they planned to do nothing and to stop communication with me. Finally Ms. G responded back stating I was not listed on the account as an authorized party to discuss the account. I advised her that over a month ago my mother called in and had me listed as authorized to discuss the account. I also reminded her that during my conversation with her she said she did see in the notes on the account that I was authorized to discuss the account. She then told me the estimates don't meet the deductible. This is what she was discussing with the executives in the company a month ago before she suddenly went silent. At the very least the roof repair and ceiling repair should be the same claim because the two are related. What they did was divide them as two separate incidences which separately would not meet the ridiculously high deductible the agent sold my parents. After she dismissed me I asked her to please provide me the name of an individual who could help me since she was washing her hands of the matter. I advised her if I didn't receive a response by close of business the following day I'd involve a third party. She has to date ignored me with no response.

This company gave me the run around when trying to file a claim, and also mislead me and even went as far as cancelling my policy without notice
This company gave me the run around when trying to file a claim, and also mislead me and even went as far as cancelling my policy without notice These company not only gave me the run around when trying to file a claim, but they also mislead me, lied and even went as far as cancelling my policy without notice all to avoid paying a couple small claims. I had this company many years and any time I needed to know a policy number or any questions that my mortgage required I had to wait on hold for hours not minutes! and when I finally had some water damage claims they send a person to my home who took pictures of everything and said she will process 3 separate claims of that only one claim was open and while I though they were working on the claims they told me I could not fix anything or I risk them not paying ... so I waited and waited until they call me to tell me all they would pay me to PAINT OVER the water damage, no water mitigation, no wall repair, no effort to look for the source of the damage. Also they said the person who took the pictures only requested for ONE CLAIM of ONLY one of the three area damaged. Then when I called to correct the claims they open it as a new claim and denied it as "took too long to request the claim" then I received a letter that stated that because I had not painted OVER the damage with the claim check then my policy was at risk of being cancelled. Twist plot I had not yet received the claim check and when I got the check there was nothing on it or with it stating there was a limited time or any requirement to provide proof that the paint was completed. Naturally I called and said how can they send me a cancellation notice for something I never received, my insurance agent never called me back so I called the 800 number spoke to someone who issue a check and stated she will take care of the notice ... a month an a half later I receive a notice from my mortgage company stating I did not have insurance and now I was in default with my mortgage company in a month in which insurance companies are not issuing new policies due to the storms. So not only this this company cashed in for years and bail out on me when it was time to pay a couple of small claims but they lied to me, did not sent a notice of cancellation only a notice of attempt to cancel which was supposed to be taken care of and left me without insurance in a time where I can't buy a new policy. I regret not looking for other companies the minute they were looking for excuses not to pay! So my biggest complaint which is causing a lot of issues is the way they canceled my insurance without a proper notice or even a phone call which would have allow me to find a different company, instead they left me to believe everything was ok leaving me without insurance in a time is impossible to get a new policy in Florida. When I called to ask them to correct the issue they stated that although they can clearly see I did not received the funds by the time they sent the letter no one made a notation on the account and there fore regardless of the evidence without a note in the system they can't help me. Basically, even if it the employee who assisted me failed to make a note it is I who has to pay the price for their negligence. I asked for information to file a complaint with corporate and I was told they didn't have contact info and I was free to call Geico and see if I can find out who I can file a complaint with. In the mean time I will make sure to rate any rating website and share what happen to let people be aware of this company's practices and customer service. I rated it the company on google and they reply to please contact them so they could help me, this was two weeks ago and I have yet to received a reply to the email they requested yet another sign of the way this company does business. I also try to contact Laura*** who was supposed to be my agent but as always no answer and no call back.

Company has not resolved homeowner insurance complaint related to water damage and has been non-responsive
Company has not resolved homeowner insurance complaint related to water damage and has been non-responsive. My name is *** A. *** Phone (XXX) XXX-XXXX. (Insured property and postal address are one and the same.) Insurance Company Name: Security First Insurance Policy Number: PXXXXXXXXX Claim Number: XXXXXX Claim Adjustor: Nicole W, Security First Managers, LLC; ***@securityfirstflorida.com; phone (XXX) XXX-XXXX Claim: Complainant's house, which sits on top of one of the highest hills in Marianna, has a lower driveway area (basement includes blocked off former garage area as well as finished, unfinished and crawl space areas) that drains into a "French Drain" system (designed by a Marianna architect/engineering firm); which in turn drains into drain pipes under basement; which in turn drains into the city sewer system in the street, which is 12 to 16 feet below the lowest level of the basement floor. During a 14-inch rain (in 3-1/2 hours) resulting from tropical storms from Hurricane Sally on September 16; water backed up into the basement a minimum of four or five inches every where almost immediately after the rain started. A large amount of debris, sand and clay also backed up into the basement toilet.) Water detection alarms alerted complainants, who connected three sump pumps to pump water from the basement into the front yard, which prevented 12 to 18 inches of water backup from the drain blockage and sump backflow from the two crawl space areas. Security First Insurance had Rytech of Tallahasse do the water mitigation using a huge dehumidifier and eight air movers which were setup the following day, running them for 12 days straight until moisture readings were acceptablewhich resulted in the house a/c running for 12 days straight and a $690 electric bill. Security First also had Hydroscout make a video of the drain pipes under the basement on September 25th, which showed the pipes were half to two-thirds full of sand and clay. (Note that policy has "Water Back Up and Sump Overflow" coverage of $5,000 and "Water Damage Cover (Limited)" for $10,000.) Over $10,000 of contents damage from the water deluge resultedwhich was given to Field Adjustor Shawn Mn on October 6, which he stated he would give to the Security First Adjustor with his report. (Field Adjustor Shawn Mn from FieldAdjuster.pro delayed his appointment to see the property and damages five times until 20 days later on October 6.) Damages that have not been paid (or acknowledged or even denied) include the property contents damage of $11,556; the jetting of the basement drains (estimated at $700 to $800) and the excess electrical bill of $240. Because the jetting of the basement has not yet been completed, there have now been three other times that the basement would have flooded from smaller rainfalls due to the clogged drains, which have not been jetted yet. In each occurrence, further flooding of the basement was avoided by setting up sump pumps near the clogged basement drain inlets' back flow, pumping out the front door. Complaint: Security First has violated several of the Homeowners' Claims Bill of Rights. Claim is now past 90 days old; web site shows claim was closedwith no denial or any further correspondence whatsoever with complainant. Claim adjustor Nicole W has been completely unresponsive and has not returned four phone calls with voice mails left over past three months (date and times logged for proof). Field Adjustor Shawn Mn arrived on scene 20 days after incident and apparently did not turn in property damage list. Security First appears to have paid for water mitigation (Rytech of Tallahassee) and video taping of drain pipes under house by HydroScout of Fort Walton; though complainant has received no record of this. HydroScount's drain videos (with complainant present) found the drain pipes in the basement flood to be clogged as much as two-thirds by sand and clay and highly recommended high water pressure jetting. Hydroscout told compla
