Upstart Just a warning for futures customers " Stay far away from this place" I wish I had read the ComplaintsBoard.com reviews before applying

Just a warning for futures customers " Stay far away from this place" I wish I had read the Complaintsboard.com reviews before applying. After applying on DEC 2 and sending in all my documents including bank statements I received this below directly from them.Hi ***,Congratulations, your loan was approved! The next step is to log into your account through www.upstart.com to review and accept the final terms. The funds will be transferred into your account on the next business day if you accept by 5:00 PM ET on a business day.Upon acceptance, we will perform a hard credit pull which will affect your consumer report. Your rate and eligibility are based upon the information in the soft credit report that was run at the time of your applications submission, and this loan approval is contingent upon no disqualifying events occurring since you submitted your application. Please note that if you accept your loan, details regarding your loan and repayments will be reported to a credit reporting agency. If you have any questions, please reply to this email and we will be happy to assist you.Best,The Upstart Team Then i accept all terms and about 30 min later i get this from them :" There was a new hard inquiry on your credit report since application"Funny thing is " They are the one's that ran the hard inquiry on my account" Pretty sure they are out to get as much information as they can from the documents you send them with no inters about really getting you a loan .

I started using Upstart last year, I wanted to use it to pay off some credit cards and have one payment. Upstart had good rates and a great Complaintsboard.com rating. Applying was simple and easy and I was approved quickly for the amount I wanted. I chose a longer loan to have smaller monthly payments, knowing they give the option to overpay if you so wish. All my payments have been processed on time and correctly, and I have had 0 issues with this service since I began using it.

I started using Upstart January 2022, to start upbuilding my credit and been paying on time since the start, and last month I had a hardship and I spoke to a customer service rep and I received email alerts as long as I pay before December 3rd, the paid late would not be reporting on my credit report which is misleading, Next I spoke to a rep today and she indicated, oh you did pay but late, I said , somebody needs to be train all this information is misleading. Add more insult, I contacted upstart on two weeks ago, and provided a updated Bank information for the recurring payments, and the verification went thru and here today ,another email saying my bill is late. I contacted the rep, and she says, you have to set up the recurring. I told her the rep two weeks ago, did not explain this at all, This is sad an unprofessional

If I could give negative stars I would. They say your approved, get your I come verification, bank information, run the last hard credit check...Then decline you're loan because you have a "new hard inquiry on your credit report since the application start date". Well duh, you just checked it. Then go back in and change it to say too many inquiries on credit report while I'm writing this review. Yeah, all your inquiries from Upstart, and Finview, but who's counting. Thanks for tanking my credit score more than it was. Started in mid 600's, now high 500's...You all are bunko artists. Serious joke. Please DO NOT GO THROUGH THIS COMPANY! Just pay your bills each month, and do you're own thing. *** company will only hurt you in the long run. Might as well get a payday loan instead. Almost better odds, and darn sure at the same interest rate. What a joke. Complaintsboard.com shame on you for such a high rating for this company.

They initially approved a much needed loan. Then because I messed up on the email address, I was told I had to redo application. Then was denied. One of their reasons stated they didn't do loans in . They lied. Was told to call, talked to gal that knew nothing and stuttered about it. Then nothing but text with same, didn't do business in .

Upstart If you look at most of the complaints filed here for people that were pre approved and then denied after hard inquiry and then they look again

If you look at most of the complaints filed here for people that were pre approved and then denied after hard inquiry and then they look again. There response is generated with pieces of info that is yours and its all over $200 that you spent on your credit card that caused denial. And 25pts is due to the 3rd party that they are affiliated you with has 4 or 5 lenders all looking at your credit and soft who knows but the attention from that lending tree or club has caused you to point drop. They are subjecting inquiries unfairly and throwing adverse everywhere. File a complaint with FICO and get an investigation into misleading and creating a negative impact on your credit. There $200 excuse that they use over and over is foul and ignorant. Im actually going to *** them the way they treated me, I got an. Offer/ accepted it, they come back again and deny an offer made to me. Then lowered offer and jacked interest up, reluctant but accepted it. I go to log in and see if paperwork is ready , called and was on hold for 2 1/2 hrs. They dropped the whole thing after all that and promised me they would have someone call me back. After spending a month on this thing. That is compliance issues and disparate treatment . Bad business practice s . Go ahead and look at the complaints here and it s same $200 excuse. Not anything more or less, we got used over spending $200 between the time soft to hard. 10/07 10/31 dates same $200 keep going same. Its a lie!

Even after all of my debts were paid, Upstart sent me a letter that the last payment wasnt made and I was now responsible for 100% of the original debt. I had to submit prof of that last payment over and over again and they always state they received my information and are looking into it they never do and I have to go through this month after month. They ruin your credit when you start the program but promise you can quickly rebuild it. They dont let you rebuild your credit by claiming they never receive the last payment and it goes on for months and years. The original contract stated they work with all of my debtors but 2 years later I find out that 2 of the debt collectors withdrew from working with Upstart and I still owe on 2 debts. I never knew this until I pushed back on upstart for the breakdown of payment and settlements. It was something I had to find and was never told about. So I over paid Upstart based on our original contract and I still have the debt and horrible credit. I would NEVER use this company and I would have been better off just communicating directly to my creditors.

Refused my loan application because I didn't have a copy of my college transcript...I graduated more than 15 years ago. That's an insane requirement. They had access to my bank account where they could see my paychecks. My career isn't possible without a degree, yet they required a transcript.

Upstart I am extremely unhappy and perplexed at the customer service I am receiving

I am extremely unhappy and perplexed at the customer service I am receiving. I had fallen behind due to family issues. I finally start to get my head above water and arrange for the payment needed to come out of my account. 3 days before the arranged date, my vehicle gets repossessed. Why let me enter an agreement to pay then take my vehicle before that agreed date? That was just the 1st issue. 2nd issue on the date arranged that amount was debited from my account and paid to Upstart. That same day, I had a late fee, so I paid it. The next day when I see that all the money I owed had cleared my account, I call to find out how to get my vehicle back. Even when I was told that all payments have been cleared, I have to wait 8 more days for them to submit the redemption release to the towing company. Why? Meanwhile those 8 more days that I am without a vehicle (even though I have paid what I owed) I will get no pro rated credit and am still paying a full months payment when THEY have my vehicle. When asking for a supervisor, I get placed on hold and told that they will put in a request for a call back from a supervisor in 1-2 business days. When I told the rep I would just hold, she told me she will out in the call back request and then hung up on me. This is poor service. It would take them all of 2 minutes to submit the redemption release. I dont feel like this company cares about their customers one bit and I would like a resolution to my problem.

I am unable to get a loan because I was shopping around for loans to get the best APR. I found this company offered the best rate but due to the fact that there was a prior credit check on me from another company they turned me down. The other company is withholding the rejection letter so I can't go through with the loan from this company.

Upstart leaves you vulnerable and in the lurch! Bad company! They claim that they look beyond your credit score, which is pure B.S.! I had a stroke, so I used a lot of my credit cards during that difficult period, causing damage to my credit score. They do not consider anything but their ability to turn a profit. They masquerade as a compassionate, ethical company, which they are not! This company is just another profiteering organization, making money off the backs of the poor with abandon. I would avoid.

Upstart My job was erased due to the pandemic

My job was erased due to the pandemic. It really does not matter whether people think the virus is real or not, what is real is that the government ordered my company to shut down and as a result, I lost all my income after just having a newborn baby and despite constant efforts, my fiance and I were not able to get back on our feet for over a year. Upstart is pretending like the government never ordered the shutdown, and that there has not been a residual inflation crisis and a looming economic recession ever since. I've been working hard just to pay for diapers and formula and baby food that I was on track to have completely supplied and planned out with all my on-time payments so it's not like I stopped paying because I was not being responsible. I stopped paying because if I didn't my newborn wouldn't have food or shelter during a global shutdown. So what did Upstart do? They called me and started threatening to *** me. I asked how this can be avoided and they said I have to pay right now over the phone or they will indicate a refusal to pay on my account and proceed with litigation. So then I call a debt consolidation firm what does Upstart do? They refuse to work with them to put me on a payment plan. From the bottom of my heart, I sincerely hope that this financial burden that I have gone through for the last two years happens to each and every Upstart employee (and shareholder if applicable) ten-fold. Do not do business with these financial predators.

I received a loan from upstart last year. After 3 payments I contracted COVID and unfortunately could not start the job I had gotten before my diagnosis. Upstart did not care or sympathize with how sick I was. I was hospitalized and still tried to pay as much as I could. After applying for 3 hardship applications. I was denied each time. I applied recently for two more and each one didnt help but increased my monthly payments instead. I have not stopped paying but continued to send what I could. Ive spoken to customer service and each person Ive spoken to could not help. I would not recommend this loan to anyone because if you have a life change. They dont care. They just want their money. For the record, this loan was taken out for school. This was not a personal loan.

After initially excepting the loan from upstart I decided not to except the loan due to the extreme interest rate. After contacting them I explain to a supervisor my situation. He reviewed the call log and informed me that I had called before the deadline to cancel the loan. He informed me that an investigation had to be done then they would not hold me liable for the processing fee and wait 5 to 7 days for an email update. The end result was that I was charged the processing fee $3,617.60 anyway after I was told I wouldn't be charged. Upstart is only good as long as you don't want to cancel the loan. A total rip off to someone who is already trying to get out of debt.

Upstart On June 6, 2022, I requested a 10 day payoff amount from Upstart

On June 6, 2022, I requested a 10 day payoff amount from Upstart. On This day, they provided me with payoff amounts for each of the next 10 days and according to them the payoff as of June 17 was $8842.69, so that is what we paid. We paid this anticipating maybe some process time, and if we overpaid, then we would expect money back. Well on June 9th, Upstart applied a payment fort the amount of $8,842.69, but according to their document stating the payoffs, as of June 9th, the payoff should have been $8,788.96. I received a letter saying my account was paid in full and I figured that was that, I had nothing more to do with Upstart, until today! Today 08/02/22, I received an email stating I owed $225.89, almost 2 months later, they want to claim I still owe on this account that I was told was paid in full. When I called, the 1st agent I talked to was professional and courteous, but the "manager" I was transferred to was the total opposite. This person "***" was rude, clearly sounded that he had lost his composure, and was now sounding unprofessional. When I asked him who I can make a complaint to about him, he wouldn't tell me, when I informed him I would be making a complaint to the Complaintsboard.com and that I would like to know the official name of the company, because the payoff doesn't get paid to Upstart, it is paid to another name, he told me to investigate and find out myself. So this loan company is not only thieves trying to take people's money, they have horrible "management" who clearly are in need of some refresher courses in CUSTOMER SERVICE!

Upstart This company should be put out of business for fraudulent business activity

This company should be put out of business for fraudulent business activity. We were not late on our loan and we have been making payments above what our monthly payment is due. Come to find out the company is not distributing your posted payments to the accounts that would benefit the consumer. They are claiming we have missing interest payments yet we have been paying more than the monthly payment and that's so they can continually charge you bogus fees. DO NOT SET UP AUTO PAY! They claim it is for your better interests however, if the company doesn't properly request the payment from your financial institute they will blame you, charge you $15 and then charge you added interest payment on top of that, even if the bank still processes the payment past Upstarts due date. Their auto pay will draft late to create a late fee or claim a ACH fee just so the company can charge you interest. Most facilities charge a flat rate of $35 late fee or return fee and tack it onto your next payment. Upstart will charge you even if you are not late, not tack the fee onto your next auto pay, and then charge you whatever interest they want, as it states in their contract with you. However, even if you pay above the monthly and cover the $15 fee, upstart will not put any extra funds towards those "defaults" but instead put it towards something else and still charge you interest stating your account is past due. That area you need to look at is the interest fee on the loan summary, because WHY would we look there as a consumer when we are interested in past payments and the fee section. All while you are unaware of additional interest fees they charge at their own disclosure.

Upstart I am too upset with this company

I am too upset with this company. In the middle of COVID-19 where we are all desperate trying to pay our debts even without work I think Upstart has done the worst job in this Country. They are the only company I asked for a payment exception and now they are making me pay the three months, April, May and June all together, in addition to charging me late fees. The person I spoke to in April never sent me a supposed form in order to get the skip. I assumed that it was going fine because they never charged my payment from my Bank in April and in May. Guessing what now in June when I enter to do my payment for June they had my accounts in past due outstanding balance and saying I have to pay more than one thousand dollars? Now every time I call and ask to speak Spanish, that's where I feel most comfortable, they tell me that they have no representatives that they will call me back but they never call me later. I have had to spend days and days trying to explain the consequences of their bad work. Kimberly was the person who speaks Spanish last week, she said last week that I have to fill "the famous form" I did but the same way I never receive any update, I ask for money (to the government) to paid two months, now when I enter to check I have one more months outstanding! and she tried to help me but I also don't think she solved anything. One thing is important with this company, they doesn't matter Spanish people! Today I asked to speak with a supervisor and after 20 minutes in the line nobody could speak with me. I filling not respected in the middle of this pandemic situation! I am here waiting for a solution of my problem. Please stay away of this company if you are a Spanish speaker.

Upstart DO NOT APPLY

DO NOT APPLY. THIS COMPANY CANNOT BE TRUSTED. This company may have an A+ rating, but I think it is probably a scam to get private information to then turn around a sell. They have a professional-looking website that makes them seem legit and they may even still have a few real customers that they provide loans to, but overall I think that they are probably scamming the majority of people that they come across. When I applied, I was approved for an auto refinance loan. When I went to go do the "email confirmation" (which is apparently the only way that you can confirm and accept the rate that was proposed--mind you, I have already provided my bank statements, etc.), the link that was sent in my email was sent to a page that said error. Long story short, after multiple attempts for them to resend the email (which never arrived in my inbox) and retry to verify my email through the old link, it never moved past this step. Also, all the emails and phone calls I was a part of were from the same woman. How is it that this company has one woman covering all the customer inquiries on both phone and email. It's either very very small (which begs the question as to how they're able to provide all these loans) or they are just a shell for preying on suckers like me. There is definitely something very fishy going on with this company, and I would think long and hard about how badly you really need to apply. Someone really needs to look into this company, but then again, I'm sure they will just change the name of their company and roll over into a new entity. I will be on the lookout now as I'm certain all my personal information is now on the darkweb. Also, it bothers me that Complaintsboard.com requires you to leave all your information so that the company can certainly be sure to target you. Great...

Upstart My experience with Upstart was horrible

My experience with Upstart was horrible. I was referred to Upstart and was extremely disappointed. ? All Upstart wanted, was to get my personal information and had no intentions of lending me any money at all. I would have never used this company for anything, but being that I was referred, I figured it would be fine. After Upstart received all of my documents, school information, bank statements, drivers license and my pay stubs, I never heard from them again. I had to call and email them over and over again. When their customer service department finally answered me, it was all a game, They would say the same thing over and over - same fake story We are working on giving you the money. They had already started me out with a high percentage rate and the trick is to make you wait for the money until the last day and then raise the interest rate again. Upstart never intended to give me the money. Upstart raises the interest rate without informing you, they raised my rate from 24% to 28%. The game was to keep raising the rate. The key is for them to keep making you wait and get near to your loan money date and change the percentage each time. The person who referred me was very disappointed as well. I was extremely shocked that they operate in such an unprofessional and dishonest manner. Their only interest was to get my personal documents and I will be watching them very closely as I go forward, especially that they requested all of my information and never intended on lending me any money at all. This is a hustle, unfair and very misleading. When someone is in need, especially during these difficult times, its not good to mislead and lie to them. Upstart took all of my documents and ignored me. I will never use Upstart or refer them to anyone. How could this company ignore me for 30 days and never honor their obligation of giving/or offering me the loan requested. They just want your documents.

Upstart I seriously cannot understand how the ComplaintsBoard.com gives them a A+ rating when every review is 1 star and their rating is 1 out of 5

I seriously cannot understand how the Complaintsboard.com gives them a A+ rating when every review is 1 star and their rating is 1 out of 5. This company is full of incompetent liars. I was told I was pre-approved and needed to submit additional document. I gave them everything bank statements, ID, everything. Then they asked me for a college transcript. I wrote back and told them I graduated in 2016 and didnt have a transcript. I checked the box that I couldnt provide the document. Then they came back and said they needed the transcript and a diploma from the other school I attended before the pandemic. I havent attended for 2 years and did not graduate from there so never received a diploma. I kept writing and telling them this and I would get an email saying support would get back to me and that NEVER happened. I finally called today and spoke to ***. Went through the whole saga and he told me that they needed that. I said that I didnt understand what my education had to do with a loan application and that I dont recall even putting it on my application that I had a degree. He said that thats part of the information that they get from researching me and that its required. I said can you please go into the account and tell me exactly what I would need. Thats when he told me that because I didnt provide the documents that they denied it and that now I had to wait 30 days and reapply. I told him that I work with customer service every single day and that its a palling the lack of customer service with this company. Emails that you get a computer response saying that youll be contacted and that never happens. You asked for ridiculous documentation that has no bearing on whether you can or cannot repay a loan. Save yourself the grief and aggravation and dont use this company. And complaintsboard.com I think you need to do a little more of your homework before giving somebody an A+ rating that obviously is not an A+ company!

Upstart I received an unsolicited pre-screened offer from this company stating that I can borrow between 1,000-50.000

I received an unsolicited pre-screened offer from this company stating that I can borrow between 1,000-50.000.So I decided to give it a shot. They came back with inaccurate information from the credit bureau! They stated that 1. I have public records and or collections. I have neither of these on any of the three credit bureaus. 2. Not enough years of credit history. My first account opened *** in 2010. Im sorry I didnt think 12 years was too soon. 3. Missed payments or payments behind 30 days or something to that effect. I have exceptional payment history. This reflects on all three credit bureaus. I have 32 accounts and all 32 accounts are current and never have I missed a payment and this reflects on all three credit bureaus. 4. *** accounts too soon since this has happened. I have had two delinquent accounts in my whole entire life and this was with the *** of *** in 2010 and it was their steak and it was taken care of and I didnt know that 12 years ago was too soon. And last but not least my credit scores. They said my credit score was in the 500s. This too was incorrect all three credit bureaus scores are in the 600s. I print it off all of my credit report from all three credit bureaus highlighted the areas that they mentioned and mailed these to this company to show the in accuracies that they have shown. Someone is not doing their job correctly and then doing so has deprived someone of a loan. If you arent going to do something correctly dont do it at all its how I feel. They say that their unique bottle looks at over *** data points more than just your credit score I dont believe that because if they had looked at my exceptional payment history, and my no collections and no delinquent accounts for 12 years then how could they deny it? Or I even had old accounts that were closed that showed exceptional payment history. How sad that Upstart has to False advertise!

Upstart Upstart business practices are akin to outdated methods

Upstart business practices are akin to outdated methods. In a year plus, I had NEVER been late with my payments. I was in the hospital on my due date of 4-21-22 and obviously could not make the payment. Upon getting out, I paid the payment on 4-28-22, (7 days after the 21st). Shortly after I checked one of my credit monitoring platforms (which I periodically did), and noticed Upstart reported an increase and that report caused my credit score to take a 15 plus point hit. I was flabbergasted and perplexed! When I looked at my account with Upstart, it stated all payments were paid on time and current balance owed did NOT show an increase at all. There was no 30 day late nor missed payment and I could not understand what the helifax Upstart reported nor why. I contacted them and they stated, They reported the accrued interest after the payment wasn't paid on the 21st. Keep in mind, not 30 days late/paid on the 28th. Nonetheless, that still made no sense to me because the monthly payment covers the interest and all fees, etc. associated with the overall loan and how can a company say hey you aren't 30 days late and you made your monthly payment, but we will report the overall accrued interest and oh ..you're payments are on time and you've never missed a payment, etc.. This was an inaccurate reporting and I did not appreciate this game playing company trying to sabotage me and my score with this manipulation. Be leery of this company because they are unethical and go out of their way to financially exploit, hard working people. My score should not have been impacted and that should NOT have been reported in the manner that it was to any of the bureaus. I'm livid, I have been screwed over and no one deserves this type of manipulation from any reputable company. This company is not reputable and they get over on hard working people. Liars and thieves. Run.. I'm working triple time to get rid of this outdated method company expeditiously.

Upstart I honestly had no issues with this organization until one day I was invited to apply for a second loan through them

I honestly had no issues with this organization until one day I was invited to apply for a second loan through them. I also had an open loan already so I took a shot at it. As my loan request is pending approval/denial my current loan payment was due. However, I was unable to log in and make a payment because every time I logged in it would bring me to the loan page, telling me the documents they needed etc. I reached out to upstart via email, as I do have a very busy lifestyle and was not able to make a phone call. I sent over 7 emails in regards to me logging in and the responses from the team were in regards to my loan which had NOTHING to do with my inquiry. I was merely just trying to log in update my payment method and process. In the interim I made my payment late due to the incompetency of the people they hire there. If they would of read to comprehend they would've understood that I was trying to access my account and not inquire about the pending loan request. Eventually I had to pick up the phone and call and my password was reset rom someone. Moreover, my payment was late due to this incident and Upstart charged me a $15 late fee which could've been avoided if they helped me log in to begin with. I attempted to dispute the fee, I spoke to a ***, an ***, an *** and lastly a Supervisor *** I was advised that waiving fees are not in their policy. UHM excuse me you are not doing me a favor my waiving the fee, and it is not a courtesy if its your error. I sent the chain thread of emails going back and forth regarding my barrier with logging in and was advised they will investigate it but there is nothing they can do because its not within their policy. I can understand if I was late on a payment due to my own neglect, but it was 100% their mistake and they want me to pay $15 fir something that could have been avoided. I am reaching out to the Complaintsboard.com. I encourage you to not do business with this company, their customer service is BAD!

I applied and was APPROVED for a loan of 6600 on Sept 9, 2020, received immediately emails on the 10th from UPSTART to set up my online account with the portal to track the progress of the loan. They sent a second email on the 10th once that was completed asking me to upload a video of why I needed the money and a copy of my Drivers License and to call them to do an over the phone verification of which I was on hold for 25 min before an agent answered to complete the verification. Once that was finally completed the portal showed that I had completed all requested items and that I would receive an email around Sept 15th to sign for the loan. I called on Friday was on hold for 30 min no answer to ask about the loan or if they needed anything, I hung up after half an hour, I tried to call again on Monday the 14th, again on hold for 40min and gave up. I sent an email, no answer. The 15th comes and goes and my rate expires on 9/23. I call on 9/16 and wait 45min before someone answers to be told it is still in review and someone should email me in a "few days." I sent them an email on 9/18 and 9/22 No answer! I finally call again and wait 55:39 seconds before someone answers the phone, to be told that I need to call Transunion and update my home number since it is disconnected and that my rate will expire, and they won't process the loan. Yet on the application it clearly shows my cell as point of contact. They wait until less than 24hrs before the rate expires to tell me I have to have my profile updated by Transunion before they will deposit my money in the bank that I was APPROVED for. I have all the emails and I have access to the portal to show my approval and all that I needed to do was sign. Their customer service is deplorable and my word the wait just to talk to someone to be rushed off them phone! I specifically asked them "you mean to tell me you aren't funded the loan because of an old home phone number that has not been active in 3 years is on file with the credit bureaus?" To be told Yes, call Transunion update profile and reapply less than 24hrs before my rate expires! Everyone knows it will take days for them to update a phone number and it would mean another hard pull on my credit!

To whom this may concern,When I first came upon Upstart it was in good conscience that I was told they were the right option for handling and assisting with loans. In doing so I applied back in 2018, submitted the requested documents and was approved for $3,600. Over the years I have been in good standing and paid on time, never did I miss a month nor ask for an extension. Over the course of my time with Upstart I relocated to another country due to my job and military service back in March 20th, all the meanwhile I still made the arrangements to be on time with my payments. Its been 4 years now that Ive been abroad and Im coming to a close on my account towards the loan I took out. Now as we all know recent months of work have been somewhat rough and expenses have been hefty considering the gradual rise of the market in commodities. In my naivety I assumed that I may take out another loan since I am coming to a close on my first account and was in good standing, I prepared all the proper paperwork for another loan and was denied. As I mentioned prior, I relocated due to work and military purposes, and if one can connect the dots working in a different country means being paid in a different currency and receiving a pay stub in a different language. As I was told by the representative that spoke to me (on the phone) and via email I was denied because my pay stubs were not in *** currency, all the meanwhile I had been paying off my other loan the last 4 years by wiring money from my foreign account to my *** account to make ends meet, as well as paying taxes in the . Now I took steps to make sure that I can acquire a loan by having my pay stubs translated, I paid the $120 for an agency to translate my pay stubs dating 3 months back and once submitted back to Upstart I was denied again. What befuddled me the most is that irregardless of my compliance with the policy of taking out the loan and paying back what I owe, paying for a translation of my pay stubs to prove that I am indeed making the money I claim to make, they concluded that continue to pay your loan on your other account, but no we will not assist you this time I sent an email to the representative and the senior member that overlooked my case that its a bit unfortunate that this is how long standing clientele that are not causing any issues are treated. Moral of the story: just because you pay on time the first time does not mean you are covered the next time if in (unfortunate) circumstances you need assistance again. As I stated in a mere few months once I close my account with Upstart, and make my final payment I will not recommend this company to others who may ask my advice towards loan agencies they should approach for assistance. Have a good day, and may we all make it out of harsh times.

Upstart It is shocking at the less than 2-start average rating here on the ComplaintsBoard.com website for Upstart

It is shocking at the less than 2-start average rating here on the Complaintsboard.com website for Upstart. I seen Upstart through the credit monitoring service Credit Karma for over the past couple years. I always saw them as an interesting option if I ever needed to get a loan for any reason. My credit is not very stellar at least according to my score and because of that I often am discouraged to explore opportunities with new banks and institutions to build my worthiness as a borrower. At the time of applying my FICO 8 scores were around 620 or less but never less than the ceiling 500's. I am a rather young borrower but I am not belligerent with my responsibilities of paying back the debt with my own Credit Union giving me the opportunity to prove they could be confident I'd pay them back on my credit card, 18 years old at the time and I already had an unsecured platinum rewards visa credit card. This factors into Upstart because they have given me that same opportunity today to prove my credit worthiness as a responsible borrower. I applied for a big dollar unsecure loan, the biggest I ever requested in my life so far, and ran through the SIMPLE process, basic information like your name, address, DOB, employer. Verifying my bank electronically worked flawlessly even when the system told me they had an issue accessing my account, they were able to instantly verify the information. After submitting the application I got a phone call in 3 minutes from an amazing gentleman who asked some brief verification questions, after that and verifying my email, just 1 minute later I got another saying that I was approved (more like pre-approved) and after submitting the approval for them to perform a hard inquiry, my loan was 100% approved by the sponsoring bank just a few seconds after. I have to say that process was incredibly simple and straightforward and completely painless for me. All in all it took under 30 minutes to get approved with me entering all the information in and logging in, but I'd say it was more like 3-5 minutes to hear back about my approval status. SOME FEEDBACK: While the process was simple I'd like to tell you what I didn't like. The email I got stated that I was "approved" however, the email specifies later that approval is contingent upon a hard inquiry pull of my credit and any major discrepancies from the soft inquiry would disqualify me for the loan. This is not considered a final approval and it SHOULD be stated as a pre-approval or "pre-approved". It is a bit misleading as the sponsoring bank still has the opportunity to deny the application and so it is not a 100% approval from said sponsoring bank. I have say again that yes I am a customer and yes I was approved for a loan. I believe a good amount of the reviews here are by people that were misguided in their own rights and did not necessarily understand the application they filled out and the terms laid before them. Now that could be better portrayed to the customer by Upstart and I do hope they take into consideration the allegations/comments those other customers left.

Upstart Auto loan of deceased spouse

My wife passed away in May of this year and had a vehicle financed with upstart. When we contacted them they said they needed the death certificate to continue to work with us. Once they received it they refused to speak about the account or accept payment for the vehicle unless we went to probate court which cost $3500 and up and takes 1 to 2 years to complete. The vehicle was just repossessed and they are refusing to give us the personal belongings from the vehicle and refusing to speak with me. This is a terrible company and they have no common sense just keep saying the same thing and refusing to let you speak with anyone else. At this point I can care less about the vehicle and just want to get the stuff out of the car. Please help

Desired outcome: Let me get the stuff from the car

Upstart I found their service as well as their customer service to be horrible

I found their service as well as their customer service to be horrible. I feel like a potential customer that was discriminated against 100% I have been a small business owner since *** here in *** and I also do the bookkeeping for a private practice medical office since 2012. When I went in to fill out my application I put down that I had some college but I then called right after I clicked submit and let one of their reps know that I had not actually graduated because I was missing a couple of credits. She then advised me that she would change my education down to HS, and I immediately asked would that effect my application. She advised me that it would not, it was only used to determine the interest rate. Not two hours after that was done did they go in and close my application out because now they are telling me that I could not provide proof of me even going to college. Now that makes no sense at all to me. There is no where on their website saying that if any information changes on your initial application, will you automatically get closed out. A matter of fact my husband has had a couple of loans through through them, both at $50,000.00, and the first time he applied, and had to update his financials because he forgot to count his Reserve income for the *** He called in and did that, right after his submission and his loan financed within two days. Now I find that to be problematic, because I have excellent credit, over 730 and rock solid job history with two jobs. I can not help but think this is something else, and I hate to say based on my race, because my husband is Caucasian, but I do not see what else it could be at this point, especially when there is absolutely no disclosure on their website, or any of their paperwork provided to their consumers, and their upper management could not even answer my question this morning when I asked the same question.

I originally applied for a deferral back on Oct 4th since I just lost my job. I was told over the phone I was all set and I moved on. 2 Months go by and I get a collections letter stating I have missed 2 payments, I call and find out they email you a form to complete the process.. That email was sent to my old employer's email.. I never received it. I applied for another deferral Dec 17th and changed my primary email to my gmail. They accidently put a +1 at the end of my email address, so I could not log onto the dashboard and complete application. So I called again and changed it again.. nothing. So I call again and was told I could not use that email and the +1 was put in automatically by their system. So I had to use another email address and I still have not been able to log in or fix the issue. I finally got a letter yesterday saying that I missed 2 payments from Upstart.. weird getting a letter from Upstart after I received a collections notice. I have emails showing that we changed and verified I entered in new email and I want to speak to someone about the original loan and how I was not told there would be a follow up email to finish the claim. Calls are all recorded and they keep making mistakes. What should I do?

I filed for a personal loan with this company. I filled out one application and submitted it on 2 Jan. I received 5 disapprovals, seems this company shotgun blasted my credit (ran multiple hits for one application). The damages they did to my credit far outweighs the loan disapproval. I wish that there is something you can do to put an end to this companys practices

I paid off two loans early with Upstart to boost my credit, but Upstart reports the accounts as "Closed" to the credit bureaus. The credit bureaus look at closed accounts with no reason as a negative thing and my credit has suffered because of this fact. The loans were paid and the accounts were closed by me, and this should be reported to the credit bureaus. "Closed and paid in full" is what I would like to have reported. Upstart refuses. It's because I refused their 24% interest rate and went with someone who could provide me with half that rate. This is mean and does not represent what Upstart stands for.

Upstart On Wednesday, April 13, 2022, at approximately **** hours from Upstart, stating Your account is past due

On Wednesday, April 13, 2022, at approximately *** hours from Upstart, stating Your account is past due. As provided in your loan agreement, a late fee of $15.00 has been assessed on your account. Your total past due on your account is $271.39, which includes unpaid monthly payment(s) and all associated fee(s). When I checked my bank statement, for the date thats loan was due, the money was drafted from my account on the same day the loan was due. I made a phone call to the business to see why was my payment late when they had received my payment.. The representative who assisted me was very rude and unprofessional she went to explained that my bank sent them a message saying my account was closed. I told her my account was not closed and Im looking at my account.. Mind you the money draft straight from my checking account. The rep told me I needed to take the matter up with my bank. I called my bank and they told me the company received my payment and they did not send a notice saying my bank was closed. I called Upstart a second time to be told the same information with an even unprofessional representative who laughed at me when I asked to speak to a supervisor. Her response was in a laughing tone they are going to tell you the same information I provided. She placed me on 8 minute hold before I hung up. I called my bank a second time and they again acknowledged that upstart received their funds from my checking account. I called upstart a 3rd time and received a better response from that representative. I was told an investigation would be open to see where the funds went. The company drafts straight from my checking account and if the bank is saying the funds were release, where did my payment go? Now Im being threatened with late fees and to avoid reporting to the credit bureaus, I need to bring my account current. I am asking an investigation to be launched regarding this matter.

I applied for a personal loan for the amount of $6,000 with Upstart on Dec 16, 2022, 8:41 pm. My loanwas approved on Dec 17, 2022. Subsequently, I tried to accept the loan on Dec 19th, 2022 in theMorning and was denied based on the hard pull that was done on my credit file after my acceptance ofthe loan. The reason for denial included in the adverse notice was "monthly debt obligations increasedby more than 30% of total verified income or $200 since application." I called Upstart to understandwhat changed over the weekend as I knew for a fact that nothing had change to which Upstart wasn'table to provide me any further explanation or facts about my monthly obligations during the applicationand post approval of the loan which was provided as a reason for declination on the adverse notice andasked me to contact Equifax and TransUnion to obtain clarification. I reached out to both the creditbureaus and confirmed that nothing had changed in my credit report/file between Dec 16th, 2022 to Dec19th, 2022. I also have copies of my credit report from Dec 16th, 2022 and Dec 19th, 2022 whichconfirms that nothing changed. I have talked with the team lead as well at Upstart and she wasn't able toprovide me further explanations or rationale of their decision other than what was mentioned in theadverse notice. She kept on asking me to reach out to credit bureaus to obtain further clarification(which i had already done before talking to her and mentioned it to her). As such, I strongly believe thatthe declination reason provided by Upstart is inaccurate and my application was declined incorrectlyand inappropriately and/or Upstart is unable to provide me detailed explanation to me of theirdeclination decisions which I as a consumer is entitled to under the Equal Credit Opportunity Act(ECOA). As such, this demonstrates their failure to comply with ECOA as well.

I have a loan with UpStart and made a principal only payment in between my regular payments in which are current/satisfied. According to my Promissory Note, it indicates: Prepayments; Partial Payments; Forbearance. I may prepay this Note in full or in part at any time without penalty. Any partial prepayment is to be applied against outstanding principal.UpStart is indicating that my principal only (partial) payment must go towards P/I and any fees. This is inaccurate and illegal.

I have three loans with Upstart. Two of which were set to be drafted from one bank account. The third to be drafted from a separate bank account. In the past two months, Upstart has incorrectly drafted one of these loan payments on the wrong bank account. This has resulted in over $250 in fees and I cannot even get a real human to speak to about the issue. I took all my payments off auto pay and yet, just the other day I made a payment on the account within the app and it drafted from the wrong account! This is so frustrating as I have explained this issue at least 5 times in emails back and forth with support, with screenshots from emails sent by Upstart stating the payment should be drafted from a particular account along with my bank statements showing in fact it was drafted from the wrong account, with fees incurred as a result of this. I need help! I am getting nowhere. This is also further messing with my ability to submit payments online, as I cannot be sure, regardless of what account I have linked in the account, that it will actually be drafted from this account. I have emails, bank statements and screenshots of everything.

Upstart I have called in Upstart for about 4 investigation regarding my account

I have called in Upstart for about 4 investigation regarding my account. On my account it shows I have paid all charges appropriately. Each payment was assessed the time of date or paid early. However, I am being charged late fees for payments that should not have been considered late since it was paid on time. To fully portray my complaint:My payments are due every 12th of month.I have paid every payment for the months accordingly with February being my first late payment, when I had asked for a fee reversal and Upstart complied and reversed the fee. I then paid my March payment ahead of time on March 1st. I continued to pay my account accordingly with April 12 being my next payments. However I was charged a late fee for April 12th, when I had called to fix this I was told I received a late payment for March 12th, however the payment was provided on March 1st.I continued to pay my accounts on time until May 12th, where my financial institution had stated a block due to multiple charges on my account through Upstart. I had called ahead of time to acknowledge that a payment would not go through because of incidents on April 12th regarding a late payment that should have not been charged. I have since been charged constant late fees leading my account to be overdue on $60. However, when I speak to Upstart it is stated that these late fees assessed since March 12. When trying to dispute this with Upstart I am told there is nothing they can do to waive any of these late fees because its appropriate for the account to receive these late fees. They have reported my account as *** days late each month following February. Alongside this I am charged ACH for return fees for March when I had already paid March ahead of time.I have filed complaints and asked for clarification from Upstart but each complaint take more than 30 days to even receive a notice. My credit is being report with false information through this company.

Upstart offered me a $400 Amazon gift card for getting a loan by a specific date. After numerous calls, they sent me an email stating they were unable to give me the gift card. None of the reasons they gave me applied. It was a simple way of not paying out on an offer they made. I would like my $400 gift card.

On September 19th, 2022 I received an email from Upstart with the promise of a $300 Amazon Gift Card if I clicked on the link and took out a loan with their company. I read the fine print and it clearly stated that if I had made the first payment on-time, that the Gift Card would be sent within 10 days of the payment. The only disqualifying factor was if the load was paid in full on or before the first payment's due date.On September 26th, 2022 I took out a $3300 loan and made my first payment on October 15th because that is when I got paid, as opposed to paying it on their October 26th, 2022 due date. However, my payment was "on-time".On October 26th (11 days after the first payment was made), I inquired as to the status of the $300 offer. I got nothing in return. No contact. Finally, after several more emails that went unanswered, I realized that I was probably scammed into taking out this loan and paid the entire balance on October 31st, 2022.I had an Attorney review the offer and he informed me that I should have received the Gift Card based upon the facts. I called Upstart on November 14th, 2022 and spoke with "***" who stated after further investigation I should have received the Gift Card and told me that it should be sent to me within days of our call.It is now December 13th, 2022 and I still have not received the promised $300 Gift Card. Upstart has not responded to my emails and has not returned my calls. This leads me to believe that this company is a predatory lender and uses false promises to lure people in to pay high rates. I kept my end of the bargain and they should keep theirs.

Upstart offered a promotion where if you sign up for a loan they would send a $300 Amazon gift card, I followed the rules, used the link they provided in the timeline provided and they are saying I did not but I have all the emails as proof showing I did follow the rules. They are scamming people into taking out loans with them without following through with their promises.

I have never had a problem with upstart until now. I paid a large amount on the wrong account(I have two) didnt realize it until two weeks later, and their refusing to move the money to the correct loan and said they cant refund it to my bank so I can pay it, because it falls out of their refund policy. Thats my money, its starting in your company. This needs fixed.

Upstart I applied for an Upstart Personal Loan on or about April 22nd, 2022 and I was told the response took 2-3 days

I applied for an Upstart Personal Loan on or about April 22nd, 2022 and I was told the response took 2-3 days. I had to submit additional documentation, so I did the research and submitted it. Then I was asked to provide a video making a statement posing with my ID. I did that. Time passed and I heard nothing. So I started digging and was told, loan applications take anywhere from *** business days. A little frustrating but understandable so I continued to wait. Today is May 11th, 2022 and it would have been 14 days by the end of today. I called them at around 1:30pm California time and was told that I would have to reapply for the loan and that My rate and the terms would change if I was approved. I'm rightly furious because I believe there has been a hard inquiry on my credit report and it would have all been for nothing. On top of that, having to gather whole new documents (because the dates have now shifted for what they require) is all around unfair. They won't tell me why the ball was dropped despite having been at fault for not reviewing my application within the timelines they advertise. To add insult to injury, the terms and rate likely will change due to recent rate changes in the news all to no fault of my own. I believe I'm owed a callback from executive management giving me a thorough explanation and a resolution that should look something like completing my application and approving my loan (which I was prequalified for anyways), with no further inquiries on my credit report and they should honor the previous terms due to this being their mistake. It is wrong for a business to advertise something and not honor their self-established parameters. It is a slap in the face to the consumer in need to comply with a business' multiple requests, only to receive the run around and enormous amounts of consequences despite our diligence.Sidenote: No money was ever exchanged and my "Upstart Case number" is:

I took out a home equity line of credit to pay off a personal loan with UPSTART. My bank, *** paid the loan by sending UPSTART a check for $50,050.41 (tracking #***). The check was cashed on Nov. 17, 2022 by UPSTART but the money was never applied to my account. I was forced to make another payment to avoid late charges even thought UPSTART already had the funds. I spoke with an agent from UPSTART on Nov. 1, 2022 who stated that yes UPSTART had received the check and that the check had been cashed BUT she did not know where the money was nor did she know why the money was not applied to my account.. UPSTART expects me to continue to make payments even after acknowledging that they received more than enough money from my bank, *** to pay off the loan. That is not right. I want the loan paid in full and the extra money to be refunded to me.

I responded to an email ad for a credit building loan that promised a $300 Amazon gift card based on the following requirements: "Offer expires at 11:59 PM ET, September 27, 2022. To be eligible for this offer you must (1) click on the link in this email and (2) fund a personal loan of $1000 or greater through Upstart.com before the offer expiration date and time. To receive the gift card, you must complete your first on-time monthly loan payment. Offer void if prepayment of the outstanding principal balance is made in full on or before the due date of your first monthly payment. Offer only available to new customers or existing customers who are eligible for a second personal loan."I was approved and funded on 09/272022 between 5:30 and 8:30 pm EST. I made my 1st payment 1 week early. I called and was informed that the requirement for the Amazon gift was based on the due date. The person said that I had fulfilled the requirements and that the card would be emailed to me within 2 weeks after my due date. After not receiving the email, I called again and open an escalation case. After almost a week of daily checking in to see if there was a resolution, I received a denial indicating that I did not fulfill the requirements, "our records indicate that you are not eligible due to meeting one or more of the following disqualifying criteria" The only criteria, that I did not meet was the use of the email address that I received the email ad. Nothing in any or the documentation or email indicates that I have to use that specific email address

i attempted to secure a loan from Upstart. It was aproved, but I a notified them with 24 hours of the approval that I wanted to cancel the application for this loan. I did this by going online through their website and by calling them. The representative said it was too late to cancel the loan and to just send the funds back when I recieved it. The loan was deposited into my account for a few more days which caused me to think it could have been stopped. Not to mention finanical companies can simply go into a customers account and retrieve funds they've deposited if in error. Upstart choose not to do this, and the representatives I spoke with made no mention of fees and interest they I would be required to pay. I contacted upstart again upon recieving the funds and ask how should i send this back. He responded by saying "he wasn't sure" after putting me on hold to get clarfication he just said go into my account profile and make a payment as if it were a monthly payment.I did, and sent the entire amount upstart had sent me. Two months later I got a notice in email indicating I owed 219. dollars to upstart. I thought this to be an error, and the emailed didn't say what this invoice was for. A month passed and I recieved another email which said I owe 462 dollars to upstart. I contacted them and they said I must pay the interest of *** dollars and it was in the contract. As of today I have emailed them twice (***) at upstart has said I owe 560 plus 462.Regardless of trying to cancel the loan and sending it back upon recieving it. I believe this position taken by Upstart to be highly unfair and unreasonable. Can you help me?

Upstart has responded to several Complaintsboard.com complaints stating that they understand that I am enrolled into *** for debt consolidation to resolve accounts. Inspire of acknowledging this and saying they ar willing to work with me and *** to resolve the account, they continue to send me hate as Ive messages. In this most recent correspondence they state This account has been referred to a third party collection agency for collection. However they informed me they would work through this company to provide a settlement and allow me to resolve the account.

Upstart UPSTART/FINWISE Phone: [REDACTED] Account #FW175XXXX This account is inaccurately reported.

UPSTART/FINWISE Phone: [REDACTED] Account #FW175XXXX This account is inaccurately reported under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, lacking validation of debt. UPSTART/FINWISE has been reporting inaccurate and incomplete information to my credit file. Additionally, while attempting to collect a debt not belonging to me, they violated the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. I am documenting my communications for a potential complaint to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau if non-compliance persists. As in the case Wenger v. Monroe, UPSTART/FINWISE may face liability for willful non-compliance. Similarly, in the case of Smith Services LLC, there may be liability for false reporting. Credit reporting laws mandate that bureaus report only accurate credit information. It is imperative that the information reported is accurate and correct. The following information must be reinvestigated. I request proof of the alleged item, specifically the original application, contract, note, or other document with my signature and payment history. Under the FCRA's provision on the disclosure of investigative consumer reports, you are in violation. I have included the definition to highlight the violation. A person may not procure an investigative consumer report on a consumer unless it is clearly disclosed to the consumer that such a report may be made, and this disclosure is provided in writing to the consumer no later than three days after the report was first requested.

Upstart This company refused to extend my credit, this decision violates the *** and The Fair Credit Act, Regulation z

This company refused to extend my credit, this decision violates the *** and The Fair Credit Act, Regulation z. I am the consumer, 15 USC 6809(9). 15 USC 1692a(3). 12 CFR 1026.2(11 ). I am the natural person. One of the services of a financial institution is to extend consumer credit and communicate that they could not complete the credit transaction on my behalf because an consumer reporting agency, *** alleged credit reporting agencies that do not have any legal authorization to use alleged information without my consent, this is in full violation of 15 USC 1692b(1)(2)(3). They smear my name with their system that is not contained in any of the federal fair credit laws. The Score is not a federal law and much less should be taken into account when making a credit extension since this is only an invention of the banks to control consumer credit. this is neither contained in the *** FCRA. I totally repudiate this deduction from *** and Upstart as their decision is not supported by any federal law, any federal code. It is not contained in the fair credit law, nor the Equal credit opportunity Act. Add that I complete a credit application, do not apply to create a loan and less fill out a loan application, complete a credit application to make an Extension Credit to my name 15 USC ***(I). And according to 15 USC ***(h) I did not give authorization for any agency, non-federal, without authority to decide for me, to issue a defamation judgment against my name and this would result in the refusal to complete the Credit Extension. The Score and the credit score is not a federal law and it is not sustainable to deny a Credit Extension, the score is an invention that banks adopted to confuse the consumer with what really is credit. 15 USC *** (f) The term credit means the right granted by a creditor to a debtor to defer payment of debt or to incur debt and defer its payment.. I am exercising my right in good faith.

Upstart Account #FW132XXXX This is a formal complaint that UPSTART/FINWISE is reporting inaccurate and incomplete credit information

Account #FW132XXXX This is a formal complaint that UPSTART/FINWISE is reporting inaccurate and incomplete credit information. I am distressed that UPSTART/FINWISE have included the below information in my credit profile and have failed to maintain reasonable procedures in your operations to assure maximum possible accuracy in the credit reports. UPSTART/FINWISE has falsely reported a collection balance to my credit report. This is inaccurate. This account is inaccurate under 15 U.S.C. ***g validation of debt. In addition, while the collector attempted to collect a debt that is not mine, they broke 15 U.S. Code ***k - Civil liability. Please have this inaccurate account removed from my credit as it is damaging my personal life or pay the $1,000 fine for breaking this law. Please be advised that I have received a computer-generated letter stating that they have ceased investigation of my credit reports because, in their opinion, they believe that I have used a third party credit repair agency. Not only do I believe this to be a stall tactic on their part to *** you an additional 30 days to comply with my original request, but I believe it to be a blatant violation of the FCRA.Additionally there is NO law that states a consumer cannot use a third party, so using that as their excuse is a irrelevant. In fact, the *** Congress has found the whole process so overwhelming that they afford consumers the right to use a third party on their behalf if the consumer so chooses. This is why your statement is so shameful. This is a formal complaint that you are reporting inaccurate and incomplete credit information. Per Wenger *** No. 95-6445 (C.D.Cal. No*** 14,1995), theymay be liable for your willful non-compliance. Credit reporting laws ensure that bureaus report only 100% accurate credit information. Under 15 U.S. Code ***g. Validation of debts I request that this Non-Creditor validate this debt by providing proof of this alleged item

Upstart I will start with the inaccurate reporting that is reflecting in Upstarts web browser

I will start with the inaccurate reporting that is reflecting in Upstarts web browser. The site does not provide proper status of payment which for me has now twice resulted in late payment history. In January 2022 I called Upstart when overnight a payment status changed from "reported on time" to "reported late". I had screenshots from the night prior and at that point my payment had been submitted. When talking to the multiple customer service representatives to resolve this I was told the late payment would still stand and there would be no correction. I asked for a goodwill adjustment and asked to provide the company screenshots of the web page and they declined. This has unfortunately happened again as of 6/21/2022. My first call to Upstart the agent proceeded to disconnect the call when I asked her to stop speaking over me and to answer the questions about the status of my account. Prior to disconnecting she informed me the May payment was reported late to the credit bureau - despite the payment status being reflected in web browser as "Reported on time to credit bureaus". Additionally, I am currently on my second attempt to speak to a supervisor with Upstart and have been waiting over 30 minutes at this time with no supervisor. I do not have any late payments on my credit report except for the 2 mentioned issues above with Upstart. Web application reflects entirely different information than when you call and speak to a representative and the lack of consistency/transparency to account status is a nightmare for customer's such as myself and have long term impacts in the form of late payment history reported. I have attached the current status shown of my Upstart loan - and once the late payment reports to my credit I will add that as well. As a customer I rely on accurate information, especially in the challenging *** we are all living in. Lack of accuracy has impacted my ability to qualify for additional loans and created hardship.

Upstart I paid off my loan in September (3 years early)

I paid off my loan in September (3 years early). I noticed that after the payoff amount was applied I had a remaining balance of $1.10 so I attempted to pay that amount 6 times but the system would not take. I contacted an representative and she then tried to authorize the payment. The website would not acknowledge the attempt, even from her end. She filed a complaint. I then started to receive notices about a late payment. I continued to try to pay it on the site. I contacted Upstart again and went through the same thing. They filed another complaint for an internal investigation. I finally heard back via email regarding the first investigation. The email indicated that the respondent misunderstood the issue and attempted to explain how interest accrues and why this $1.10 exists on my account. I attempt to call a third time and the agent tries to authorize the payment but their system would not recognize this action. I was told another investigation/complaint will be filed. I then receive another email addressing my late payment. I then call for the 4th time and same thing happens but she transfers me to an agent to try paying via debit card. It worked. The (now) $1.14 was satisfied. Another investigation was filed to understand why this happened. I proceed to receive an email stating that I overpaid by $1.14 and was refunded. I receive another email stating that my loan was paid off as of September . I check my credit report and see my score has now dropped 72 points due to this late payment on my Upstart loan. I call multiple times to see how and when they plan to rectify the mistake as it was solely a system/Upstart error. They informed me there is nothing they can do but will file another complaint/investigation. Of all of the previous investigations filed, Ive only received 1 response and it was not pertinent. It is clear that they couldnt care less about their customers and have no qualms in operating in an unethical and malicious manner.

Upstart On January 29th, 2022 (yesterday) i applied for an Upstart loan that they give through *** I provided all necessary documents

On January 29th, 2022 (yesterday) i applied for an Upstart loan that they give through *** I provided all necessary documents. On morning of January 30th 2022 (today) I was approved for a loan.Even though Upstart incorrectly determined my income lower than it actually is and slightly increased my interest rate, I decided to not fight off small details and accepted the loan as it was this morning. The moment I accepted the loan I received notifications from 3 separate credit monitoring services Im signed up for that my credit score dropped. All reports showed that Upstart placed a hard injury on my report and it significantly decreased my score. Simultaneously, Upstart, who 1 min prior gave me a loan and stated they would be transferring the money, now informed me that they are denying me because my credit score has dropped since my application that I submitted YESTERDAY. Lets make it clear: I applied for a loan through their financial services, they invite me to accept their offer and when I do, it results in my score dropping, which is what happens when you get a loan (Im sure Upstart knows that) and then Upstart punishes me for accepting their offer?! This doesnt make any sense! After I spent 40 mins on the phone with a representative (who is not connecting me directly to credit review department, so she relays their answers to me), she told me that at first they said I should figure out what the problem is with credit bureaus, then when I informed her that I have reports showing Upstart as the cause of the drop, she told me that credit department said thats not it, it must be something else. Thats not a professional answer and a blatant lie. I have proof. Representative took my number and said supervisor will call me shortly. I waited all day. The call never came. I was told that I need to reapply in 30 days with a different email address. If I reapply I have lower credit score and more inquires, therefore higher APR and more debt. You trap people!

Upstart I received an email from Upstart with the subject "Last call: get your $300 gift card when you take out another personal loan" (attached) on

I received an email from Upstart with the subject "Last call: get your $300 gift card when you take out another personal loan" (attached) on September 29th, at 7:18PM. As directed, I followed the link to apply for another loan. By 9:10PM on 9/29/22, I was approved for the loan (attached) and I immediately accepted it (see attachment TILA Notice). On November 1st, I made my first payment, which Upstart confirmed via email (attached). On November 5th, I still had not received the gift card, for which I emailed Upstart. In response, they told me how to apply for the loan (that I had already applied/made payments on and was supposed to end on 9/29) and how if I am approved, I would receive the gift card within 10 business days. So on what would be the 10th business day, I followed up with them, again. I received 2 emails back, one stating an individual will reach out to me and the other stating someone may reach out if no resolution has occurred (attachment "In regards to your concern"). I was not contacted by anyone. On 11/20/22, I emailed them, again. To which they informed me my complaint was still under review. (See attachment "Loan Inquiry").As of today's date (11/26/2022), I still have not received the gift card - or any further communication. As stated in the offer emails T&C's, "The digital gift card will be sent to qualifying individuals at the email address linked to their qualifying personal loan account only after they receive confirmation of their first on-time monthly payment as described above." I would like to further affirm that the email address for which I received the offer email and used for this loan are the same (my first loan too). I also did make sure to check my Spam/Junk folder, which shockingly, not one of the (4) emails from Upstart's personal loan team recommended I check.I would NOT have taken out this loan if this offer was not presented. I feel as though the Upstart customer service team as not taken my concerns seriously, at all.

Upstart To whom this may concern,I received an email on Thursday, 3/10 that I opened the next day

To whom this may concern,I received an email on Thursday, 3/10 that I opened the next day. The phone number attached to the email was *** (the only phone number I had for upstart at this point). I placed a call to the *** on Friday, 3/11 at 1:59P Cst to request the loan be canceled. The person I spoke with (don't have their name) advised to me the request will be submitted. I confirmed during the call that there were no additional steps to be taken on my end for cancelation, to which the associate stated no. The phone call lasted 5m 23 seconds. From here, I got another email on 3/11 at 4:10PM advising funds will be sent (per my first phone call, the loan should have been canceled at this point. There was a different phone number on the second email (***). I called to inquire why the loan wasn't canceled and informed it was past the 5pm cutoff. I explained the above information and after numerous holds told a review request would be sent to back office and call Monday, 3/15. After numerous calls, agents and bad service I spoke with supervisor *** who advised a review request will be submitted. During this call, I advised I will attach the documents for the review as I was told the cut off for loan cancelation would be 3/11 before 5P (timezone wasn't shared),however, I'm on central so calling at 1:59P would put me in your policy guidelines. I should not be penalized for your original associate for not following company guidelines about transferring to the correct department if they couldn't assist and has lead to this email. This is the information submitted to Upstart along with documents of the phone call placed and emails recieved. On 3/15 I recieved an email from *** stating... The loan had been fully processed, approved, and promissory note signed and they won't do anything but I called within their policy guidelines and 4hrs before funds email received Loan#FW2772702 Re: case# *** Loan amount $9k Loan$8280

Upstart I applied for a personal loan online with Upstart on March 26th

I applied for a personal loan online with Upstart on March 26th. During the process their website states that my credit score will not be impacted by the inquiry. I wanted to sleep on it to determine if I wanted the loan. I was approved on March 26th for $1600 with a 29% APR for 60 months with payments of $47.10 a month. On March 27th I decided to log in and accept the loan terms. I went through the process of confirming my information was all true and accurate, linked my bank account and routing number, the system stated my account was linked, It stated congratulations I am approved. Then on the very next page the system stated I am not eligible for the loan because my credit score is to low. Upstart ran a hard inquiry two days in a row after already approving the loan and giving me terms. My score dropped more than 50 points. I have a problem with them misleading customers by stating the inquiry will not impact my credit, and there is no reason why it should. When shopping for a home loan the credit merge is good for 15days but on a small unsecured personal loan they can pull everyday? They misrepresent the impact it will have and then penalize the customer when *** is the reason for the decline in the credit score. This is predatory, misleading and totally unprofessional. This company and all others like them need to be held to higher expectations. They should not be allowed to pull credit over and over. The APR given was good until April 6th. That's how long the credit should be good for if not 30days. This is fraudulent in my opinion. Now they have all my banking information, my credit score has tanked so I can't go apply for any other loans. This seems to be on purpose. Clearly there are reasons people like me seek funding of this nature. These so called lending institutions do what they can to crush everyday working people and ensure we cannot progress. I am extremely disappointed with this service and believe their practices should be scrutinized!

Upstart I officially refinanced my auto loan on 3/11/22 with Upstart Network

I officially refinanced my auto loan on 3/11/22 with Upstart Network. Shortly afterward I made a personal decision to sell my car and was unable to because my VIN is non transferable, due to Upstart 'not having perfected' the lien as of yet. They gave an expected title processing time for CA DMV when I contacted them, which would be *** weeks from 4/11/22. I would call regularly to check on the status of this and customer service will have records of each call I made. Nearly each time I called, my time for processing expectations would be mismanaged or re-set in some way, even to the point of adding significant amounts of time. I was never allowed to speak to any type of supervisor or management and calls were never returned to me as promised. I made an initial complaint to Complaintsboard.com on 6/24/22 and this was the only thing that was able to get anyone who you would assume had any authority to respond from Upstart and explain that an error had been made and was now corrected and that the CA DMV would have the title from *** no later than 7/11/22 now resetting the expected time to *** weeks again which likely will double the time for something that should be a really transparent and straightforward process. Something is wrong here and I am being ignored weather by intention or design. I am actually losing a lot of money because of this issue. I suspect that there is potentially fraudulent activity happening within Upstart Networks who, 4 days after they received my complaint sent a message stating that my loan payment instructions had changed and they were to go here for future payments: Upstart Auto Warehouse Trust *** I don't know if this is a coincidence or not. But I thought it an interesting detail. I need this to be resolved and I would like Upstart to be investigated. I would like to hear from someone on this matter with regards to my title at Upstart and from someone at Complaintsboard.com about the rest. Thanks for your time. ~

Upstart I would like to file a complaint against Upstart for identity theft issues

I would like to file a complaint against Upstart. I was a victim of identity theft, and my information was used to open an unsecured personal loan. The funds were transferred to a bank account that was opened in my name. I contacted both banks immediately to begin the process of reporting the fraud. One bank mailed me a packet with basic information on how to report the fraud. I complied with all the information except for securing a document from the bank stating the account is under investigation for fraud. The bank will not provide any documentation because they must conduct the investigation first. I have called Upstart throughout this process and have informed them of the delay. Upstart has a 30-day timeframe for submitting documentation, which I cannot meet due to the bank's unwillingness to release any written documentation. Upstart has made it extremely difficult to report and resolve this matter. I have spoken to them multiple times, and each time, I am not provided accurate information to help me provide the necessary documentation. When I call, I am put on hold for hours or am told that I cannot speak to the fraud department because they are busy with other calls. I tried to obtain information regarding the bank account where the funds were transferred so that I could get the necessary information to provide to Upstart. Each time, they would not release the account information. Finally, after several phone calls, they released the account information, and I was able to speak with someone who relayed that it would take over 30 days to conduct the investigation. Upstart is unwilling to begin the investigation without a letter from the bank. I cannot move forward with obtaining the documents until the bank has conducted its investigation. I feel that Upstart is attempting to make me assume the debt and will use the excuse that I would not provide the necessary information as requested. I have attempted to do so and have been unable to obtain what I need. I feel that Upstart should begin the investigation and communicate directly with the bank to assist with resolving this matter. I am also questioning the process that they have for loan approvals and would like to be provided with the documentation that was used to secure the loan in my name. I was provided the loan packet, but this doesn't include how the loan was originated and the processes used to confirm a person's identity.

About Upstart

Upstart is a lending platform that offers personal loans to individuals for various purposes, including debt consolidation, home improvement, and major purchases. Unlike traditional lenders, Upstart uses a unique underwriting process that takes into account not only creditworthiness but also an individual's education, employment history, and other factors.

One of Upstart's biggest advantages over other lending platforms is its use of machine learning algorithms to assess creditworthiness. By analyzing a borrower's credit score, income, debt-to-income ratio, and other data points, Upstart is able to provide loans to individuals who may not qualify for traditional loans or who may be offered less favorable terms.

Another feature that sets Upstart apart is its focus on quick and easy loan applications. Borrowers can apply for loans online in just a few minutes, and Upstart provides instant loan offers based on the information provided. Once approved, borrowers can receive funds as soon as the next business day, making it a great option for those who need fast access to cash.

Upstart also caters to borrowers who may have limited credit history or thin credit files. For example, recent college graduates may not have a long credit history, but they often have high earning potential based on their education and job prospects. Upstart takes this into account, making it easier for recent graduates to secure loans to pay off student debt or finance other expenses.

Overall, Upstart offers a unique approach to lending, using innovative technology to provide loans to individuals who may not have had access to traditional loans in the past. Its quick and easy loan application process and focus on borrowers' potential rather than just their credit score make it an attractive option for many people looking for personal loans.
