Alex B assisted me with my auto refinance, and it was a remarkably smooth and stress-free process. I am extremely satisfied with the results and appreciate how thoroughly he explained each step. I highly recommend iLendingDirect, and if you have the opportunity to work with Alex, it's even better!
Forwarding inquiry credit information to a LendingTree, LLC partner without contacting the consumer is bad business practice. Thus, is the reason I keep my file locked. I was just seeking to find my payment if I obtained a loan.
VERY UNPROFESSIONAL! The people they have call you are rude and disrespectful. The advisor I spoke with stated he filed compliance on me because I called them a scam! I referred to them as a scam because WHO USES CASH APP FOR VERIFICATION! Horrible business highly not recommended. Will threaten to have you arrested for degrading their company!
Lending Tree is a spam bomb. They aggressively pitch being able to provide you with loan quotes. However this is a fraud, they don't provide any quotes, just give your information to a bunch of spam lenders who will hound you day and night for weeks.Again, this is a fraud. You will not get quotes, just a bunch of call back numbers for individual lenders.
Lendingtree should be ashamed! they give you a list of shady lenders.Be careful, it takes months to close a loan and the lenders use you're private info against you even when they are in the wrong.Don't give you're personal info until you read bbb reviews. even if lender has a+ rating. they don't use reviews to determine rating!
Lending Tree took a chance on me when no one else would
Lending Tree took a chance on me when no one else would. Because of them, I am able to work on my plan to get debt free and save more money than I would have been able to on my own. Great company to do business with. Process was easy and forward, no hidden/funny business. Thank you LT!
0 starts. Keep give scam calling. No way to opt out
My husband was approved for a loan for 8,000.They said they to do a test deposit in our bank account .They you take right back out and send it back to them .So my husband did that and the next day our bank flagged as Fraud ,cuz the check didnt have right signature .My husband called them and asked if they would send ach .We havent nothing back from them .Many phone call and texts and nothing .But cuz we had take the *** out our bank is making us pay that back .So we want the money back from them .Cuz our bank charged us money cuz of a check they send to us .This is the worst company .Thats a lot of money they took from us .We just want our many back .I dont think thats right at all
Offers on their site that they can give incredibly low '1%' interest rates. My credit is over 800 and they offered subprime. Gave my info and am receiving spam from a million callers looking to give me a c*** loan. DO NOT USE.
Thank you so much for the excellent service and the quick refinancing of my auto loan
Thank you so much for the excellent service and the quick refinancing of my auto loan. I was able to reduce my interest rate from 16.5% to 5.5%! I cannot express enough how satisfied I am with my experience. Normally, I do not write reviews, but I felt compelled to share my positive experience. Please continue your outstanding work!
Im not even sure how this company got my email address but I have unsubscribed and they continue to email me. They are not abiding by CASL regulations. Their emails are annoying.
I filled out a series of brief forms to request interest rates for a fixed second mortgage. I do not believe I completed an acknowledgment that they would be sharing my information with lenders, but if I did it wasnt readily obvious. I was looking for rates specifically for a second and that is what I had stated in the form. Within literally three seconds of completing their request form my phone started ringing. I was bombarded with numerous calls from numerous lenders. In some cases the same lender left more than six recorded messages in a single day. The ones that I spoke with were calling about me refinancing my first mortgage which was not what I had inquired about. Most were rude and one flat out said GOOD LUCK WITH THAT and hung up on me when I told him I was looking for a second mortgage and not a first. Regardless of any disclosures they may provide I find it wholly inappropriate that lending tree would allow its lenders to phone bomb innocent victims seeking legitimate loan offers. I will never have any business interactions with this company again.
I would give zero stars if possible! Within minutes of entering my information I was spammed with texts, emails, and calls. Stay away from this company.
If I had any idea that filling out some inquiry forms through lending tree would have created the onslaught of emails phone calls and text messages I would have stopped. If you want a loan, go to your bank - that's what it boils down to. The rates that they show you in their initial output versus the rates and terms once you follow up with any of these lenders are worlds apart. There is nothing they will show you that clearly depicts the interest you're paying over the terms of the note. Will never fill out a request again.
I highly recommend Mr
I highly recommend Mr. Jeff B from Lending Tree/Premier America. Jeff's knowledge was excellent, and he was able to answer all of my questions. His confidence allowed me to complete the refinancing of my car in just two days. Since then, I have received a check from my old bank for the amount of savings I now have. If you have any questions, ask Jeff ***. He has the answers.
Terrible mistake using this service.Lock information behind an info gathering scheme and then sell you out to any supposed business offering a loan. The offers I ended up getting were terrible to boot. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!
Stay away. DO NOT fill anything out. I just wanted to see what's out there and I woke up to a bunch of inquiries. HARD INQUIRIES that I did NOT ask or want
What they do should be criminal. Even after unsubscribing and asking their tech support to delete my data, LendingTree gave/sold my application information to a nationwide network of loan sharks. I get calls, texts, and emails daily. This has been going on for over 9 months. I will probably have to change my phone number and contact information. I don't know how to stop it.
Horrible company and business practices. They will not stop emailing me MULTIPLE TIMES A DAILY and Ive been reaching out since January 2022 (were now in APRIL) almost WEEKLY for them to stop their emails. Ive unsubscribed multiple times for weeks, Ive reached out to customer service with promises that the emails will stop in a weeks time and nothing is done to fix the issue. Im still getting their obnoxious emails. I understand things can take time but four months of daily emails from them its frustrating! I dont understand how hard it is to just stop sending emails. I never wanted them in the first place.
LoanDepot made the process of buying our first home much easier than I had ever imagined
LoanDepot made the process of buying our first home much easier than I had ever imagined. We chose to work with Brad W. He explained everything to us step by step and reiterated the information while we were going through the process to ensure that we fully understood everything. Even when other companies involved in the process caused difficulties for us, Brad provided guidance and support, assuring us that everything would work out. They completed the process and finalized everything within a few weeks. I highly recommend LoanDepot and will definitely use them for future purchases.

Yesterday evening, I was searching for a home loan calculator
Yesterday evening, I was searching for a home loan calculator. After doing some research on Google, I found LendingTree, which offers a loan calculator service. In order to use the calculator, I had to provide some contact information to create an account. However, immediately after doing so, I received a warning from Apple stating that some of my account passwords had been detected on a leaked password database. As a result, I started receiving numerous spam phone calls, emails, and text messages from RocketMortgage, loanDepot, and other lenders. It has been almost 14 hours since then, and I am still receiving these unwanted calls and texts. Here is the link to the ad: [link provided].
On 10/03/2022, I received a credit monitoring alert detailing that TUCI-Lending Tree has requested a hard credit inquiry of my Transunion credit file, none of which I authorized or initiated. I immediately contacted Transunion and initiated a credit inquiry dispute. I was advised to reach out to Lending Tree. I contacted a representative at Lending Tree and was informed that many customers had experienced the same event throughout the day and that Transunion would hopefully resolve the issue. I was not satisfied with the response nor was I assured that the unauthorized inquiry would be removed from my credit file. As of today, the hard inquiry remains on my Transunion credit file, and I have not received a call from any Lending Tree personnel advising of any updates. My Transunion credit file number is not disclosed here for security reasons.
I signed up to view pricing not knowing I would be bombarded with spam immediately. I received over 20 calls from various numbers within less than an hour of signing up. I can barely use my phone at this point. This is harassment. I need my email, number, and address placed on a Do Not Contact list immediately.
I used Lending Tree to shop a best rate for a home loan. They used term: your privacy matters to us. I read the terms and they said share with up to 5 lenders and their trusted affiliates.However- LendingTree- sold/shared with at least 1 hundred lenders - and my personal cell rang constantly DAY and NIGHT - after hours! With lenders and then the texts!I WILL NEVER TRUST OR USE LENDINGTree again. They also have so many sponsored linked on Search engines that an individual has trouble finding a legitimate review site - example ConsumerAffairs.com.Worst mistake I have made online ever
Company allows third parties to sign up individuals without verification
Company allows third parties to sign up individuals without verification. One simply begins receiving unsolicited emails, phone calls, and texts. I second the complain made on 06/15/2020. Although the company issued a response, they appear to ignore the fact that this individual attests "I have made no request through their platform." LendingTree allows third parties to sign up individuals without authorization OR verification. The unfortunate individual simply begins receiving a barrage of unsolicited emails, phone calls, and texts, by people and companies pretending to know the individual, including their "business name". This practice allows LendingTree services to be used as a figurative Denial Of Service attach against individuals who had nothing to do with their information being leaked, and who must fend off, ignore, and otherwise manage the spam, if the individual's mental state even consistently allows. In addition, it puts some fledgling businesses at risk, as "Business Names" in addition to phone numbers, email addresses, and real names may have been provided for someone who has not yet registered their business name in a given area. My particular case is that a well-intentioned but oft-mistaken and unauthorized extended family member suddenly "signs me up" for LendingTree's "business" funding matching service. All of a sudden multiple pieces of sensitive information have been provided to who-knows-how-many businesses with their associated employees, not to mention bad actors in "sensitive data collection and management". "Thanks, Equifax! I mean LendingTree!" As hinted above, I begin to receive a barrage of contact attempts from multiple vectors. As the contacts continue, I reach out to the family member and demand that they undo this LendingTree thing. This person tells me that she does not see how to undo it, and begins to coach me to "block, delete and unsubscribe. It's that simple." Umm "no", it's not that simple! I DID NOT SIGN UP FOR THIS HASSLING HUSTLE-SHOP! As confirmed by LendingTree themselves in their 06/17/2020 response to the complaint filed on 06/15/2020, this "unauthorized" and "unverified" disclosure of sensitive data is undo-able (at least in the "complete" sense) for a RIDICULOUS SEVEN YEARS under the PREPOSTEROUS ASSUMPTION that the sensitive information MUST have been validly provided WITHOUT VALIDATION! "Hubris", which is "bound" for "mediation". And that is putting it "politely". ("Oh, you have my credit score, too? Are you sure that was 'me' who provided that to you? You KNOW you aren't sure, and you KNOW that a gaping hole exists in your system!)
I have never used Lending Tree and I am not even sure how they got my email address. They send me emails EVERYDAY (up to 3 times a day). I have unsubscribed a dozen times to no avail. Please stop the harassment and STOP emailing me.
Complete bait and switch and harassment. Excellent credit and so on. Rates advertised as very low and then get offers of significantly higher rates. A whole mess of emails and calls. I don't understand how this company has any positive reviews. I suspect they compensate reviewing websites for high scores. All reviews from actual users are negative. Please stop contacting me, remove me from all lists, and your partners' lists. Scam.
I am sick and tired of receiving advertising e-mails on a daily basis from this "business". calling themselves "Lending Tree"...I.sometimes receive their e-mail ads twice a day...I have attempted to "unsubscribe" with no success, they just continue to HARASS me. I certainly regret having browsed their site a few months back...I do not know how to stop this continual barrage of irritation...KA
Unfair practices and bails. Discrimination.
I have written before to no avail. I am invited by lending tree and experian to get a loan thru their services and frankly almost guaranteed one, yet each time you say you are unable to help me. You lie to get my information to sell and thats not legal.
You discriminate against me based on a credit score which is wrong because of the reporting agencies failure to validate so I get discriminated against due your taking reporting companies inaccurate word and you dont check for correctness and discriminate against the car I wish to purchase and when I fill out the forms and you deny me you lock me out of the account I set up and say it is blocked which I just set up before being denied.
I am filing compaint reports with the ftc and the bbb and your moal affairs department for discriminatory practices and fraudulent information gathering.
Desired outcome: To see you and the reporting comoanies actually work for your money and apologize to menand give me the loan you havenbeen promising at.
Is LendingTree Legit?
LendingTree earns a trustworthiness rating of 96%
Highly recommended, but caution will not hurt.

This demonstrates a commitment to customer service and transparency, which is a positive sign for building trust with customers.
LendingTree has received 8 positive reviews on our site. This is a good sign and indicates a safe and reliable experience for customers who choose to work with the company.
The age of LendingTree's domain suggests that they have had sufficient time to establish a reputation as a reliable source of information and services. This can provide reassurance to potential customers seeking quality products or services.
Lendingtree.com has a valid SSL certificate, which indicates that the website is secure and trustworthy. Look for the padlock icon in the browser and the "https" prefix in the URL to confirm that the website is using SSL.
Several positive reviews for LendingTree have been found on various review sites. While this may be a good sign, it is important to approach these reviews with caution and consider the possibility of fake or biased reviews.
We looked up LendingTree and found that the website is receiving a high amount of traffic. This could be a sign of a popular and trustworthy website, but it is still important to exercise caution and verify the legitimacy of the site before sharing any personal or financial information
However ComplaintsBoard has detected that:
- Despite a high level of trust, our investigation found issues with LendingTree's service, including poor customer service, lack of accountability, and responsibility to resolve complaints. Customers may face long wait times for responses, receive generic or unhelpful answers or no response at all. Only 33% of 8 complaints were resolved.
- LendingTree protects their ownership data, a common and legal practice. However, from our perspective, this lack of transparency can impede trust and accountability, which are essential for establishing a credible and respected business entity.
Liars and shady individuals
I fell victim to their claim of only soft pulls on my credit, I had a 789 credit rating before I called them. My phone started ringing before I could even finish the application and the loan offers were flying in, Upgrade instantly approved my loan for 7.4% and asked for verification of a few things which I sent them and got to the point where they took my bank information account and routing number and was told that I needed to open an account with the credit union that was funding my loan. The link to the bank did not work, so I went to sleep and got ten calls in under five minutes and a voicemail which I promptly returned and the woman on the phone claimed it was her that left the message but the message was from a male. she started out pissy and mad at me right out of the gate and asked me why my yearly income was $144,000 to which I said that is the household income and I did not put that down on the loan application, I put down my personal income. she rudely told me that she had personally denied my loan and when I logged back into my account all the info was gone and there was a offer for a credit card.
The credit union that was funding my loan kept contacting me to sign up with them but when I clicked on the link it took me back to Upgrade and their credit card offer, then to make matters even worse two more companys that I had no contact with ran hard inquiries on my credit and each time they did that it knocked 14 points off my excellent credit rating and I now only have a good credit rating. All those years of hard work to get and keep my credit rating are now shot for who knows how many months or years.
I have over $75,000 revolving credit with under 5% credit usage and one durogatory mark from a $1000 debt that is not mine.
Desired outcome: I want my credit rating back and I wish I had never contacted lending tree or responded to their referral to Upgrade
I'm upset about being lied to about what the offer was just so they could run my credit report
I went through everything they asked me to do to qualify for refinancing my car at a 16.56 APR 266 a month for 7 years. The whole purpose was to lower my car payment and they offered that to me so I said okay let's do it then I get a phone call saying that they approved my loan but not for what we agreed upon this is really bad business. And now I have a hard pull on my credit report for no reason.
Desired outcome: I want them to remove that off of my credit report that is not fair they did not hold up their end of the bargain otherwise they would not have been able to pull my credit I wouldn't have allowed it

If Lending Tree is so reputable then why are they calling me day-in and day-out about my incomplete loan information. Also they keep calling me Brian. They are also texting to "Brian". This is not the first round of calls from this company. This has happened before with actual (fly-by-night) loan companies calling me. Why this company is still in business totally surprises me.

Loans
This company has very deceptive practices. They bombard you with emails and mail offering you preapproved loans and when you use this preapproved code to apply you are instantly rejected. This kind of practice needs to stop, it adversely effects people's credit when they apply. You tote yourself as peer to peer but no peer of mine would be involved in this deceptive scam. The BBB and federal government need to shut down these deceptive loan practices. You are just a front for oversees payday scam loans.
Home equity
November of 2015 I did an online preliminary app to receive offers in my area. I've used Lending Tree in the past and it was a very simple, pleasant experience. Just like on the current commercials, you got a list of lenders, current interest rates, and terms. And I could choose. But this time I got a list of lenders, but no terms or options. What I got was a ridiculous number of phone calls within minutes of the application. I understand that I said I could be called, but I did not expect what I got. I also got a call from one bank offering a reverse mortgage. Also, the lending tree web site has too many links that are misleading and not clear. I ended up with a call for adebt consolidation. It was ridiculous. Will never use again and will not recommend.
personal information retention
Lending Tree abusively retains personal information
Lending Tree makes all kinds of upfront promises on their web sites regarding their ability to provide you with advantageous mortgage / refinancing terms, pretexting favorable governmental regulation. They requires that you provide personal information upfront and once you have done that, they start disseminating that information to mortgage vendors of unknown standing and reputation. As a result, you are contacted by these vendors literally seconds after you have completed the session on Lending Tree.com. I did not like the way Lending Tree was handling the process and therefore called them and asked that my personal information be immediately removed from their files. Their answer was that it is not possible to satisfy such request., Pretexting "audit needs", Lending Tree decides to keep personal information of casual callers in their files for seven years. That is clearly a ridiculous pretext since there is absolutely nothing whatsoever to be audited. In doing so Lending Tree is unnecessarily exposing me and it seems many more consumers ( this complain is incredibly frequent) to possible hacking and identity theft. I consider this a predatory practice and I am determined to give it as much publicity as possible to finally convince Lending Tree that such practices are not even in their interest since there is no chance whatsoever that aggravated customers like me would ever return as a customer. I encourage consumers who have had similar unpleasant experiences to join forces and make their case known.
pulling credit reports
A leading national consumer rights law firm is investigating whether Lending Tree through its services has potential lenders pull consumers credit reports without the person's express permission. If you are a consumer who used Lending Tree's services and inquired about getting a quote and did not authorize a potential lender to pull your credit report but that lender did in fact pull it please let us know. The pulling of a credit report could potentially damage one's credit worthiness and lower their FICO score. Please contact us at 800.511.7037 for more information.
They pulled my credit and sold old data again and again to make money. Why are they not [censored] down yet?
Sells Your Information
Filled a lot of the info out on Lending Tree but never followed through, ended up deciding to hold off on a loan. A few weeks later, the telemarketing calls started. Took a look at Lending Trees Non-Privacy policy and it looks like they pretty much say in black and white they will sell your information to almost anyone. It has been a year now and I still get 1 or 2 a week from mortgage companies or home alarm places and just random companies that have caller ID numbers that redirect to no where.
http://www.lendingtree.com/legal/privacy-policy/
Really sleezy practice on Lending Trees side and that alone lends a lot of credence to the complaints I have read on this board.
Anyway, take a look at privacy policies before you put real info into and online form.

Lending tree is a scam company. No matter how much you try to get away from them they email you, mail you regular mail too, and do not leave you alone. No matter how many times you hit unsubscribe from their email list you get three more that day and every day or more. It’s obvious that they retain your information. I’ve never even used them except to inquire once what my rate would be. That’s it. From that point on they don’t leave you alone and its daily constant harassment.
Lending Tree Scam
I started the process of refinancing my home at the beginning of December. They reviewed our documents and said we would qualify for a refinance. They charged $400 for an appraisal, which was performed. After six weeks of submitting document after document, and dealing with 2 different agents, they cancelled our loan request. They said they could not verify my husband's employment. He is employed and also self employed business owner! All of our documents proved it. The folks at Lending Tree closed our on line account leaving us with no access to our documents. In my opinion, Lending Tree is just after your $400. They have horrible customer service, poor communication, and I will never ever deal with them again.

Trickedinmaine, I would love to chat with you about this matter further. Please email me at eddierka@gmail.com. I work for a class action law firm that deals in these types of cases. I look forward to hearing from you.

CORRUPT & ILLEGAL
LENDING TREE SHARES YOUR INFORMATION WITH EVERYONE AND ANYONE WHO PAYS THEM FOR THEIR MAILING LISTS.
LENDING TREE IS SO CORRUPT, I AM SURPRISED THE GOVERNMENT HASN'T CLOSED THEM DOWN OR FINED THEM.
LENDING TREE WILL ACTUALLY SHOW YOU HOW TO "FAKE" YOUR INCOME, AMONG OTHER THINGS, TO QUALIFY FOR THEIR LOANS.
THEY HAVE THEIR OWN APPRAISAL FOLKS WHO THEY PAY MUCH LESS THAN $400.00. ONCE YOU PAY THE $400.00 FOR YOUR APPRAISAL...YOUR LOAN IS DENIED (FOR ANY REASON), YOU NEVER GET YOUR APPRAISAL OR YOUR $400.00 BACK.
THESE PEOPLE ARE UNBELIEVABLY CORRUPT AND BREAKING HUNDREDS OF FEDERAL TRUTH & LENDING LAWS !
STAY AWAY !
So true.
After our experience and reading the reviews/complaints,
I believe Lending Tree is the worst.
The loan was not denied. We had to co-sign for our daughter.
We thought something was very strange when they wanted to "help her show a better income" and suggested to have family members & friends issue her several "fake" 1099's to increase her income.
We paid and lost our $400.00 appraisal fee and only received a copy of the appraisal because we hounded the appraisal company (who was located 56 miles away), threatened to take them to court and finally showed up on their doorstep with our canceled check. After multiple other "red flags" were raised ( frequent changes in the disclosures, interest rate, good faith estimates etc.) and reading other reviews on Lending Tree ... We canceled our loan request and went with our local bank, who by the way, accepted our appraisal, offered a much better rate and lower closing costs.
Honestly, I think Lending Tree preys on the ignorant and uninformed.
Home Loan
Lending Tree took my credit card# for $600 deposit to lock-in rate. Cannot believe what they tell you! We were told all was good to go, then got a call the Friday before closing that they could not do loan because of bad appraisal. No reason for such short notice if there really was a problem! Very inconsiderate & unprofessional-loan officer never called me, per another loan rep, she was too busy to notify me. Our realtor immediately sent them correct info about the property& they did not do anything...just kept saying they needed for more time... and kept me hanging-nothing ever resolved. I cancelled loan with them 4 business days before closing so we could make other arrangements. I asked for my $600 back since it was beyond my control that they were not able to do the loan-asked for a manager to reconsider. Never got a call from a manager. Got an email from loan representative that it was non-refundable. Beware of this company. Realtor said it is an absolute scam to get your money. We went with them based on convenience but there was nothing convenient about it! Just headaches & a lot of stress to scramble in the final days before our move. Stay away from this deceptive company. I hope they are put out of business, so no one else has to go thru what we did with them!

Did they take it from a credit card or your checking/savings account ?
Speak to your bank and see if they can recover the funds for "services not received"
Total Scam
We contacted David K. at Lending Tree to discuss getting a first mortgage on a home we own in California that was just appraised for 320, 000. We were asking for 160, 000 to pay off all of our other debt. The home is fully paid for and in great condition. We we just making some phone calls to see what kind of rates and terms we could get. David K. told me...

I used Lending Tree for a refinance and feel their business practices are unethical at best. After speaking with a loan officer, I was given some numbers over the phone and was told I needed to lock in right away so as to not let this excellent rate slip away. I felt the pressure to act quickly and agreed to pay the $600 non-refundable deposit (which I still have no idea what I received by paying this money). I did not receive a Good Faith Estimate (GFE) until after the $600 was charged, but was told my closing costs would amount to approximately $4, 000 on a $180K loan. From that point I supplied all the necessary documentation and set up a time for their approved appraiser to come to my house and perform the appraisal. I had to keep emailing my service representative, Geo Garcia, to verify he had all the necessary documentation. He was pleasant enough to deal with when speaking to him on the phone. I then received a copy of the appraisal and it met the qualifications for the loan. At this point, I was assured by Geo that everything was ahead of schedule and that it should be clear sailing for the rest of the way. I checked in a few more times (as I never heard anything back) and he stated it was in underwriting and that just takes time (approximately 3 weeks). On the last day I had to sign the paperwork to meet the deadline before the rate expired (the rate I had paid $600 to lock in), I received a call from Geo stating that someone with Lending Tree did not agree with the appraisal (the appraisal done by their approved appraiser) and was therefore revaluing my property at $40K less than its appraised value. This dramatically reduced my loan and I was upset and confused. I made it clear that I didnt feel this was correct and requested to speak with the person who made this adjustment (as Geo did not claim to understand why this change was made, only that my loan would now need to be adjusted). Geo stated that I could not speak to anyone about this, but I was allowed to give Lending Tree comparables that justified the value reached by their own appraiser. I did this (following all of their guidelines regarding proximity to subject and date of sale). Geo acknowledged that the comparables seemed to justify their original appraisers estimate, but it would need to be reviewed by people I could not communicate with. He stated this could take up to three business days to complete the entire review process. He also explained that the 30 day rate would be able to be extended to accommodate the time required for the review process. After emailing or calling every day, I finally was told (five business days later) that those controlling the decision rejected the comparables as well as their own appraiser. I was still able to get a loan through them, although it would be for $30K less, the closing costs would actually be higher (now $7K) and I would need to pay an additional $400 to lock the rate for additional 10 days (as my rate lock had now expired). Additionally, there was no way to get back my $600 deposit back if I decided to not refinance my loan through them as a result of the change in the loan amount.
I want this to serve as a cautionary tale for those deciding to do business with Lending Tree. They dont care about your loan and once they have your $600, and I feel like they are free do what they like (change the finance charges, decline their own appraisers value by someone who isnt from the same state and hasnt even seen the house) and the service drops precipitously as the consumer has no repercussions and no way of getting back the $600. My greatest complaint was that I was never given an explanation as to why the value of my property was significantly reduced from their own appraisers review by someone in a different state who was neither an appraiser nor had ever seen my property. Do yourself a favor and go with a local bank you can trust or at least an institution that doesnt charge the upfront, non-refundable fees.

all I wanted was a quote. I already knew that they do not re finance manufactured housing. Now I cannot shut them up.I have told them I have already re financed with my bank and do not need to have them call me anymore. If I could figure how to delete my phone # from their records I would.I hope they never call me again.
Everyone Be very careful when you apply for Lendingtree.com if you dont get approved then a person By the name Theresa Riley with the lending tree will email you and say if you have bad credit she will hepl. She will ask you to get a western union form and send Evelyn Edwards in Ontario Canada the insurance money. Be avise it is not Lending Tree thats doing that. I notifed lending tree and they told me it was a scam and they are investigating it. I was suppose to have that part of money I sent for my oral surgery and now I am having ti fear for my life because I cant get the money to pay for the surgery I recently filed bankruptcy and it was discharge. So Please be on alert.
We purchased a house at the bottom of the market for $215K. The bank appraised it at $240K. 18months later we then approached Lending Tree giving them the benefit of the doubt based on some of the complaints on here. We went through the whole process until they sent out an appraiser who happened to live more than two hours away. Well he appraised the house at $110K. The comps he listed werent even in the same class or bedroom quantity or garage size or even in the same Victorian Heritage Listed housing estate! Wasted $400 with lending tree and took a good hit on my credit score. Dont waste your time. No contact afterwards either, just an email with the valuation and then a letter of denied credit. Total scam!

STAY AWAY !
All true! We were scammed for six hundred and eighty dollars after applying for a loan through lending tree. Someone from "ROYAL ALLIANCE FEDERAL CREDIT UNION" contacted us and said we were approved then very professionally confirmed all of our information!
During the course of two days, I spoke with "CURTIS WILLIAMS" and "CAROLINE JACKSON" Both from Canada.. I could tell by the accents! I am currently filing a lawsuit against Lending tree as this is entirely their fault!
I think that this should be a multiple lawsuit actually. They need to be shut down and pay monies back to everyone who was scammed!

bait and switch
We decided to refinance an investment property, had a locked rate with Lending Tree and received GFE from one Stephen C. We went through all the hoops of providing full documentation (which Mr. C lost the first time - pretty scary stuff) and paid the 600. Long story short - the closing was late and then when I did receive the paperwork just 2 days prior to closing everything was changed- the rate, the fees, charges, everything.
Contacted Stephen's supervisor, Alan O, twice and asked for his intervention but never heard from the guy. At the last minute they said that their "investor" had changed their criteria but they could probably still do the refinance however it was a 43% increase in fees! That's right 43% Needless to say I bailed at that point, said this was usury and they promised to refund my 600. I had Stephen C put it in writing via an email. After reading these stories of others losing their 600 I am going to file a dispute today with my VISA card company, After all the hassle they put me through there is no way they will keep my money. I also sent a message to their customer relations department but it's probably in the "round file" already.

Lied to and lost deposit
Yesterday, I had to cancel a refinance because of what I believe to be deceptive information from Marc Griffith and Karyn Vogt lying to me about what I was to expect only to discover the final refinance arrangement was unacceptable. I requested that my deposit of $600 be returned because of a very poor and negligent appraisal of my home that started the events that led to lies from both Marc and Karyn leading me on to get as far as I did, then finally telling me the truth about the loan that I could not accept.
Yes, I do have evidence that demonstrates the appraisal was negligent at best, and that Marc and Karyn were both very interested in assisting me with the refinance in the beginning, only to develop an apathetic attitude and could care less whether I went forward with the loan or not since they already had my deposit, a deposit that they had no intention on returning regardless of the circumstances. Their blatant lies to me to stay with the process so I'd loose the deposit in the end is not only illegal, but unethical at the very least.
There's a lot more to this, and I'm prepared to take this as far as necessary to recover my $600 and find someone else to refinance my home with who will be honest with all the details and not sucker me into an unacceptable loan and stealing $600 in the process. Please get back to me as soon as possible. I will be in meeting throughout the day, please be patient and continue to contact me if you are unable to get a hold of me at first.

Sailing40,
I am not defending whatever Lendingtree.com did to you but I do want to explain something about the "negligent" appraisal. This is for all the others who are complaining about appraisals whether you ever come back to this board or not.
In June 2009 Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac initiated the Home Valuation Code of Conduct, referred to hereafter as HVCC, that was done in agreement with Andrew Cuomo the NY Attorney General. You see Mr. Cuomo brought suit against these GSEs for what he termed deceptive appraisal practices and the over valuation of homes that led to the fall of the housing market according to him. So now instead of being able to order and appraisal I will explain the process to you that Mr. Cuomo brought about.
The appraisal now must be ordered through an Appraisal Management Company, known commonly as an AMC, this company then contacts one of their approved appraisers and the appraiser sets up an appointment with the borrower to appraise the home. Once the appraisal is done the appraiser then sends it back to the AMC and the AMC then sends it on to the lender/broker. The lender/broker does not have ANY DIRECT CONTACT with the appraiser as it is thought that appraisers were getting unduly preassured to produce a value this way it doesnt happen. The problem is the appraiser may not be familiar with the area and its amenities, the appraiser is also getting paid less money than they were before due to the addition of a "middle man" who takes a cut of the fee, and, in some cases, the appraiser may not even be a true appraiser or unlicensed for that area. So the cost of appraisals has gone up and what used to be done for $325-$350 is now $400+ because everyone must get paid something right. Being in the business I have seen appraisals that are WORSE than what I used to see but are accepted by lenders because they have to accept them to a certain extent. This is one reason why the FHA will not conform to the HVCC because they realize it is not a good law.
If you dont like your appraisal are the process I highly suggest you write to your Senator and Rep and ask them to sign the bill repealing this guideline. It is ridiculous that one man, Andrew Cuomo, can make policy for the whole United States but that is what happened. He is just a little fish in a big pond looking to make a name for himself so someday he can be in Washington as well.
While I am not condoning the practices or how your loan was handled you have to understand that you are not the only one that has a short appraisal it is happening all over the country. It is my hope that if you had the motivation to get on this website and make your comments you will have the motivation to send a letter to the people who can do something about this law.
