Ross Dress for Less - Unable to do exchange because cashier did not know how

I went into Ross Dress for less located in Ocala 34470. I originally purchased 172.13 in items and was told the dressing rooms are closed due to the pandemic so if any of the items did not fit I would be able to exchange them for other sizes. After going home to try them on some of the items did not fit so I went back to the store to choose a different size. I brought the original receipt along with the Items I was exchanging and choose other Items to purchase. When I arrived at the register at store number 1508 Reg: 04 on the same day of my original purchase 11/01/2020 the cashier told me he tried to exchange the items but the system told him he could only return the Items and the money back to my card and then I could purchase the new Items. After the cashier doing what he called was an automatic refund back to my debit card he rang up the new items and asked me to slide my card again to make the purchase. The amount he said refunded to my card was 70.57 and my new amount was 75 and some change. When I chipped my card to make the purchase the 70.57 had not been returned to my card so it only allowed 35.00 to go through and the cashier tried to tell me I owed an additional 45$. At this point he called over a manager to try to help with the exchange so she proceeded to void the transaction and refund the 35$ back to my card so she could perform the exchange. After the Management and the cashier conversing for a few minutes she further explained to me that the original 70.57 was refunded to my card and should return in a few days along with the additional 35$.

In the end of this management claimed she could not give me the receipt with the 35$ return because I did not have the additional money to finish the transaction. So the cahier handed me back my original receipt with the 70.57 return only. All Items were left at the store. I am still owed the 70.57 and the additional 35$ that has not been returned to my card.

I am upset at the fact the cashier did not perform an exchange properly and now I have to wait for money to be returned to my debit card and I was unable to purchase the Items I wanted.
