On arrival into the room, it had a musty odor as if the carpet had not been cleaned in a very long time. Our bathroom was riddled with mold & mildew all over the shower. Our second day at the hotel we left the room without a second thought and were out all day. We later returned around 6pm and noticed that the door in the rear of the hotel that is only accessible via key card was not functioning with our card and had to use my mother in-law's. Not thinking much about it, we proceeding to go up to our room and the key was not functioning with our door, however, we attempted to open the door as any other normal door and lord behold it opened without need to use the key card. I went downstairs to the lobby advised the front desk that my key was not working and he fixed it and told me to not put it close to other credit cards or my phone because then it would not function. I brought to his attention the problem with the door not automatically locking and he repeated yet again to try again with the key. We went up and before testing the key we tested the door and it would not lock automatically, we attempted to lock it from the inside with someone outside, again with the actual door lock and yet again I was able to open the door with ease as if it was any other door. I therefore, went downstairs and advised him the door is not locking even with the door lock and it was an issue because our belongings were in the room and we still had an additional day. His response was extremely disappointing, "There's nothing we can do because the rooms are booked".
I'm sure that if anyone we're staying in a facility under these circumstances no one would not accept such as it is a SAFETY concern and it is very uncomfortable, especially with reviews of this hotel having previous customers complain about theft.
Needless to say, we didn't have a very restful night with concerns of someone entering due to our non-functioning door. The day after we were very concerned with someone coming in while we were out. By our last day, the key access machine in the rear door literally broke when we were attempting to use it and was hanging by its wires.
Our stay was very frustrating and uncomfortable for lack of better words. While I understand your obligation is to 'apologize' for such nasty and disappointing standards, an apology is not sufficient. Needless to say, we'd like a reimbursement of this stay as this is not a hotel I would ever recommend to any of my friends & family. My husband and I along with my in-laws stayed at the property and we were all in disgust. My in-laws alone went through a terrible ordeal when checking in and had to be moved between 3 different rooms. Room 1 did not have a functioning A/C, Room 2 was beyond disgusting and was never cleaned, and their 3rd room did not have a functioning door THAT WOULD LOCK.
