I was standing in line at Jewel at approx. 4;00PM on 10/03/23. There were only 2 cashiers working and the cashier in my line was extremely slow, and she was extremely slow. After I was in line for over 5 minutes, they finally opened another line and, instead of making sure the next customer should be addressed, they just announced a cashier was now available.
A person that was behind me was checking out and I was still in line.
I transfer to the cashier that had n ow 3 people and I was the 4th.
I was sudden being cashed out and the cashier I was in line to be checked out was still with the same customer.
Now let me introduce myself: I'm 76 years old and am considered disability as I walk with a cane. So, I was in the first checkout line was just before. 4 PM. I was checked out at 4"15 PM as stamped on my receipt.
My complaint is that instead of taking a couple of minutes to assure a customer, senior or not, should be panelized for picking a checkout lane with an extremely slow cashier. That's just thoughtless of Jewel. And I suffered because of Jewel's non-action.
Desired outcome: First, an apology and an assurance that when they suddenly open an additional checkout aisle, they keep this station open until the customer next has the option of going first, etc. And seniors would have the first choice to refuse,
Jewel-Osco - Disrespectful service/ attempt to cheat me
This morning I bought 2 packages of Brie cheese. There was a buy one get one free sale. The cashier Hyacinth rang me up and I paid for everything. The bill was higher than I had estimated so I looked it over and saw I was charged for both of the cheeses.
I pointed this out to the cashier and she very hesitantly looked for the manager then tried to dismiss me. I asked her to page the manager. Who came and did not seem to be able to grasp the situation despite the cashier clearly explaining it to her several times. The cashier seemed to be getting in trouble because I was complaining. The manager told her to ring up one cheese and they did something with the cash register. The manager then tried to dismiss me. I asked her what she had done and if she was going to refund the price of one of the cheeses. She tried to dismiss me again. I got angry and told het once again I had already overpaid. She finally gave me my money back but was rude about it.
I shop at Jewel often, but I really do not like to feel someone is trying to cheat me or that I am stupid enough to think she had actually done something with the cash register. I also don't like to see her attitude towards the cashier. Jewel is closer to me but Aldis is cheaper and the employees much friendlier overall.
Desired outcome: I would like to know you value my business and that I can trust you not to cheat me. I would also like for the employees over all to be friendlier.
Jewel-Osco - Lack of sanitation & inattentive to customers safety
Omg! I'm miserable! I've not been feeling well since Fri. I think I have a regular flu bug cause I got chills that were unbearable & lack of energy! I am beginning to feel better. My pup has not left my side, she is soo worried about me! I was fine until
I went into the Howard Jewel which is not the cleanest store & I wore protective gear. But my face mask from dollar store broke while using self check out. I should know better cause those are germ centers & I don't see Jewel doing a great job at safeguarding public using those machines. Most the employees don't pay attention to what's going on in front of them, unlike Target which sets the standard for safety &
Sanitation. It sucks because Jewel is the only store within a few blocks of me & is open late until 9pm. Grocery shopping is not worth getting sick. I don't think I've been exposed to COVID just a bad flu strain. I don't have a cough or respiratory problems. 5 days into this & I'm beginning to feel better.
